  1. ... Because, of course, EVERY nightclub has terminals devoted to ebay, a workshop (woodworking, metalworking, painting,) brokers and the like...

No, thanks. Leave Pocket D as is. It fits its role perfetly.

In addition to all the above, don't forget it'll be multiple waves. Friends/family, small group, slightly less small group, etc. until it's in open beta and people complain that things don't work, and get told in return "uh, yeah, that's what beta's for, so report the things that don't work so they can get fixed," and chat and forum flame wars start because "the devs don't listen," then get countered with lists of all the times the devs do listen, someone calls someone's cat a pigeon lover and it all goes downhill in a flaming ball of mildly aged cheese.
  3. After that, maybe it'd be cool if they added, say, a giant octopus to Independence Port!
  4. Yeah, for a short time it was fogless... and honestly, without the fog, it's rather "eh."

    - Pocket D, with or without teleporter.
    - Base teleporters (yours or a group leader's.)
    - Mission teleporter
    - Ouroboros
    - Wentworths/Black Market teleporter (Free just for standing around!)
    - Zone to zone tunnels
    - Arachnos fliers (villainside only, obviously)

So where's this "have to take the train" again?

I could understand if you were somewhere like Cap au Diable trying to RP with a friend, and a single person runs by and lobs a snowball. But to honestly stand in the very-busy snow zone and tell people not to throw snowballs at you? You're essentially standing in the middle of a crossfire with a sign that says "Don't shoot me." Maybe the people doing it ARE jerks, but you're asking for it.

I don't condone lobbing snowballs at people when they ask you not to. But I also don't think that someone should stand on the globe in Warburg and broadcast "Excuse me, but I'm going to be RPing here in Warburg. Nobody PvP with me or I'll petition you, because I politely asked you not to."

If anything, it seems more like the person is looking for a fight. If you want to RP and not get hit with snowballs, the last place you should be is next to the NPC that gives out snowballs.
Snipping the rest, since it's mostly along this same tack.

Yes, you're in a zone where people are going to be doing "winter things." However, most RP tends to be... fairly obvious, even if they're not doing it in local or broadcast. Or at least it's obvious there's "a group doing something." There's also a whole zone full of people doing other things.

Barring seeing someone you know ("Hey, there's Dispari!" - *toss snowball* "Heya!") why not find someone *else* who's lobbing snowballs or otherwise not seemingly preoccupied and engage *them* in this?

Location does not remove your right to ask someone not to interrupt what you're doing. (Barring, as mentioned earlier, "Hey, you're blocking the ski slope/Father Time/NPC/door, could you please move?") Especially when, frankly, those NPCs are in a reasonably nice setting for RP. (I also don't particularly thing the PVP zone example isn't valid in this discussion. There's no reward for throwing a snowball when asked not to, other than irritating the target. Warburg, you could reasonably get a code, you *will* get rep if you win, and you get a chance of a PVP IO drop.)
  7. Cost of a "new computer," no. You can get those for $300 or so. They won't run COH particularly well, though.

    You're paying for capability.

Now, *building* mine is running about $1100 including OS. (No monitor, since I have one I'll be using.) If you know what you want in the system - shop around. If you're not sure what you should have, shop around.

Of course, you can always look up FatherXmas and follow the links in his signature - he tends to work out $600 (or so) builds and $1000 builds that are just fine.

    Naughty vs. Nice

One character was a good, long streak of Nice broken only by a few Naughty.
Logged on today, different character, I've hit exactly one Nice.

    It's just plain old random.

It's like a whole zone dedicated to snow and fooling around, so someone telling me they're RPing and to stop throwing snowballs is like people trying to RP next to Hamidon and telling people that they're interfering by doing that whole raid thing.

Even though I'm an RPer, I recognize that the snow realm isn't "my RP zone" and I can't expect people there to drop what they're doing so that I can RP. If I want to RP uninterrupted, there are other places I can go. Even in that zone. You don't have to stand in the ski lodge, where there are hundreds of people coming and going, many of whom will almost assuredly not be RPers. If you insist, people throwing snowballs or doing emotes is just one of the general things that you'll have to deal with.

And really, what you're doing in the zone is no more valid than what they're up to. What would your response have been had someone said "Excuse me, I'm trying to recruit for BNY missions here and your RP is distracting. Can you go do it somewhere else?" You can't always expect people to conform to what you believe they should be up to in any given location. Pocket D and the ski chalet are not official RP zones.

That said, the person crossed the line when they started intentionally griefing you and especially started with the teleport stuff. At that point you were justified in sending a petition.
I'm sorry, but no. If someone chucks a snowball at you, ok valid. One time isn't harassment, griefing, etc. But - You have *every right* to ask them to stop. They can go throw snowballs at someone who wants to play that part of the game.

They're not telling you to stop throwing snowballs. They're asking you to stop throwing snowballs at them. If you refuse, then yes, you are - quite frankly - being a jerk about it, and have no reason to complain when you get /petitioned. They've made it clear they don't want to take part in your snowball fight or be your target. Move on.

Now, if they told *everyone* in the zone to stop skiing, stop throwing snowballs, etc, they'd be over the line, and probably laughed (and snowballed) out of the zone. If they were busy doing "rp" blocking, say, the top of the ski slope, Father Time or the other NPCs? Then their RP would be disruptive. But a little group in a corner doing their own thing? No reason they shouldn't be left alone if they ask.

It's a big zone, everyone has space to do their own thing.

And just an option for smaller chest symbols on males, too. Just because my character's male doesn't mean he has a logo on his shirt or a tattoo going the width of his chest.

Especially after being told "no, that's not appreciated, please stop." Continuing to do whatever the action/behaviour is afterward is generally seen as harassment without question.

The OP took steps to avoid it. The person persisted. That is harassment, and to a point where it is perfectly legitimate to take it up to a higher authority (the GMs.) And yes, they *will* take action.

It's especially fun when they catch the offender red handed and you see them suddenly... vanish.

edit: If you use IE7 I just read it requires UAC for one of its security features. Actually, reading up on it, I wish Microsoft would make it less annoying (maybe add a user-created exceptions list?), because its actually a darn good feature (good idea, not so good execution).
Also, if you use gadgets - at least in beta/RC - and turn UAC off, it turns off gadgets. The few I use, I find useful enough not to turn it all the way off.

I'm familiar with how annoying it is in Vista, having worked on others machines and had to "confirm" something almost continually. It's not so bad on Win7, at the second lowest setting. Though I do agree on the exceptions list - I was hoping for something similar. (OTOH, I'm sure it'd take less than a week for a malware writer to create something with a little script that puts itself on said list.)

With that setting, I have to confirm almost nothing - installs, running COH... that's about it on win7.
  16. Renaming "COHUpdater.exe" to just plain "COH" will make that go away.

Of course, next time it updates... well, it'll be an ongoing process. I wouldn't argue with them just *renaming* the file officially if that's all it took.
  17. I try not to assume. (Plus, only one non-combat pet (the vet award) comes to mind that I can think of, anyway - yes, you choose between 5, but you only get one of them regardless. If you got one for, say, completing each of the Surviving 8's TFs...)
  18. Eh. Not personally keen on the idea of having someone trailing a line of mini-pets that do nothing. Earning something to display in the base, though, sure.

But you people and your inane replys that border on harassment really take the cake.
Here's the thing. You have two things you can spend to get *any* drop in the game:

    1. INF. If you have 2 billion to drop on an enhancement, and it's on the market, you're going to get it (barring multiple other 2 billion INF bids.)

    2. Time. Don't have the time? Play the game. Want purples, play your 47-50. Want PVP IOs, PVP (or farm alts. *shrug*) Eventually they *will* drop.

And, while you're doing #2, you'll be building toward #1.
  20. Orlando, FL. Only white powder here comes from the supermarket (or, I suppose, dealers in Miami. )

High level = Pinnacle and Victory. (Since you asked.) "Triform level at least" has a few more.

    mobo suggestion

Well... the solidstate drive (SSD) would take a chunk of that $500 Though Kingston's supposedly got a boot drive (40 gb - enough for the OS and a couple most-used programs) at around $100. Don't expect massive capacity cheap. (insert SLC vs MLC info here, if at all interested, either's going to be faster than a standard hard drive.)

17 940 - socket LGA 1366 (important when finding your mainboard - not all 17s are 1366, some are lga 1156, such as the i7-860 I'm throwing in mine.) Cooler would be the last thing I'd buy - as depending on the mainboard and RAM (if they have heatsinks - specifically odd or tall ones - some coolers won't fit. Also depends on how much space there is between your mounted mainboard and cpu and the side of the case, and any internal ducting - my Sonata II's internal "wind tunnel" got pulled out early.)
  23. oy...

OK. Having read some of the previous "stuff," the small late-late-night team we had going (PUG, and with several lowbies, no less) I knew wouldn't do much.

Finally took down a winter lord when I swapped to my MM. Debuffs, yay... but oy, until I and another MM showed up, not a scratch was being done to this guy. (Though there was a 50 brute doing aggro control and cleanup on whatever else spawned, as well.)

Poked our noses into the Realm -

Know what'd be nice? If the "hospital" were inaccessible to the GM and his buddies. No, relaly, having the Lord of Winter standing *right where you'd be if you rezzed,* with a little fleet of Frostlings and Northern Lights, is a bit irritating.

Of course, it didn't help that 1-2 of the PUGers wouldn't stop *going* there. And dying. And rezing.

I don't know. I haven't gotten excited over the winter event, personally, but I halfway think this particular bit - from a Winter Lord spawning through the realm - shouldn't be in lowbie zones. There's really no chance of them *doing* anything. Gifts and spawns, sure, I suppose.
