Quote:This is an excellent demonstration of the fallacy of Starcloud's argument. Thank you, Grouchybeast. This argument is like saying that the United States shouldn't trade with less populous countries because the U.S. would buy everything up and the citizens of the smaller countries wouldn't be able to afford anything, while AT THE SAME TIME the smaller countries wouldn't gain any money from selling stuff to the U.S.Individual Defiant players might be able to buy anything on the market, but overall, the supply of things on Defiant is lower. That means inf transferred from Freedom to Defiant is going to be less than inf transferrred from Defiant to Freedom.
There simply are fewer Defiant players than there are Freedom players. This is a fact. In the aggregate, Defiant players generate much less inf than Freedom players, just from the sheer weight of number. They generate fewer recipies, and less salvage.
While, yes, inf under a merged market would flow freely between the sides, the fact is, prices for everything would rise. And with fewer Defiant players playing, that means individuals on Defiant would have a harder time paying for things from the merged market.
Also, in a merged market situation, the flow of Freedom inf to Defiant inf would quickly stabilize, leaving Defiant players overall in a poorer position.
Teams are generally the best/fastest way of generating influence and infamy. Have you tried to form teams on Defiant? Let me tell you, most of the time, you cannot get a large team together, on Defiant, unless there is an event of some kind running. on Freedom, on the other hand, it is easy to get into a team.
Agree, y/n? Do you think that players on the smaller servers are in a position that they can't afford to outfit their toons because the players on the larger servers have all the inf? Do you think the market should be split up so it's intra-server only, to be fair to the majority of lower-population servers? Would that lower prices for everyone? What effect do you think it would have on supply?
I vote to merge the markets. In a merged-market economy, every individual has the same potential to earn inf (other than disparities in farming ability, which has nothing to do with redside/blueside), proportional to the amount of time they play. -
Quote:The fact that the other channels are underutilized is exactly why I created another channel. I don't expect it will be used much, but I wanted a special channel for this event.I really don't mean to rain on your parade, but...
First of all, does Protector really need yet another monster channel? There's already Protector Watch, Protector Vigilance and Protector Monsters (all which indicate monsters as part of their channel descriptions). And they're all underused as it is.
Also, while Striga is a neat zone, and the volcano is a great setting (I still want to spawn Babbage and Kronos and have a big battle up there), it really isn't the best setting for an event. It's quite a way off the beaten path, and lowbies would have a really difficult time getting there. Anyone level 20 or lower would have a hard time sneaking past the layers of council guns and patrols.
Also, the wiki maps on GM spawn sites in Striga are woefully incomplete. I've mapped as many sites as I could over the past few years, but it's not an easy zone to find the spawn sites. It's too far out of the way to get a team to hunt in and it's too far to drag the GMs to the drones (at least 1-2 miles each time).
Might I suggest to use Croatoa as an alternative gathering site? You could gather at War Witch's island. The Spawn Sites are much closer together. The farthest distance between spawn sites is still about half your average travel hunting GMs in Talos. Also, the travel for lowbies would be much safer. Once they travel the short distance getting out of the city part, the majority of the distance would be across relatively safe open water.
As for the location, Croatoa was my other choice. The only reason I chose Striga instead was to avoid confusion with the "normal" GM spawns. I also didn't realize the Striga map was lacking that much. Croatoa also has the added benefits of being a city zone and having an already Halloween-y theme. So, I think I'll take your suggestion and move the event to Croatoa. I'll edit the original post to reflect that.
Thanks for your input! -
Awesome! Thanks! This is my first time planning an event of any sort, so I really appreciate the assistance.
Also: Those who live in the affected time zones, don't forget to set your clocks back one hour this weekend. Daylight Savings Time officially ends at 2am Sunday, November 1st (so at that time, the time becomes 1am). -
My fellow Protectorites: In the spirit of Halloween, I've created a global channel called Monster Mashers, intended to facilitate getting teams together to hunt Giant Monsters, particularly Eochai and Jack In Irons. Anyone is welcome to join the channel (Monster Mashers) and use it to organize monster-hunting teams of any sort.
To kick it off, I, as the bad-*** faerie Dualina, will be hosting a gathering Sunday night (Nov. 1st) at 9pm Eastern (8 Central, 6 Pacific) hero-side in Croatoa by War Witch. Once teams are assembled, we will proceed to beat down every incarnation of Eochai in the zone until Jack In Irons appears, and then do the same to him. As many as ten teams at a time can get the badge credit, so the more the merrier!
As a special post-Halloween bonus, I will be holding a costume contest afterwards, so dress to impress! Awards will include influence and costume salvage. After the contest has concluded, all are encouraged to remain teamed and join in some celebratory zombie-slaying!
Depending on interest and turnout, I may hold a similar gathering villain-side on Monday night, Nov. 2nd. Check back on this thread Monday for more info on that.

UPDATE: I may be running late tonight. Something has come up IRL. If I'm not there by 9:30 EST, please feel free to starting hunting without me. The spawn locations can be found here.
UPDATE UPDATE: I'm back and ready to go. Will be in game shortly. -
Quote:The "no AV" setting only makes AVs appear as EBs, so that is why you see EBs so much - you're getting them instead of AVs. I don't remember that many lower level missions on hero side that have AVs/EBs in them, though - only a few at the end of story arcs (The Hollows arcs come to mind).I've not seen an AV unless my missions are being run with 4 people or so... and each time it was "What, really?! An AV in this one?" Everyone was in a 'huh' moment.
The EBs for 4 is... I guess normal. But not for a lowest level, single person mission. At least, it didn't use to be. Not that I remember... Boss maybe. Certain characters, given what I'm seeing, couldn't solo any more if this were the case. Not with any decent decorum of time vs XP. It might be possible, but it certainly is irritating, the amount of extra time being force upon a character...
Bosses in all missions. All the time. Any character, any server. 10s, 20s, 30s... doesn't matter what level. I'll sometimes go sweeping to get a level rather than try to put up with it, so I can at least get some semblance of balance my character against 3 +0 LTs...
...
---
@ Ms. Mesmer:
Every once in a blue moon, the -1 mobs will show up... but it's not frequent.
---
Here's something to note... while the missions are spawing +1s and EB end bosses, the ambushes are all +0. So there's that. So far.
Needs more experimenting... maybe it's an 'old character vs new character' thing... Hm...
Also, there is a separate setting for bosses which for some reason does not show on your mission tab. You can choose to fight bosses at boss strength or have them "demoted" to LT. You may have it set to fight bosses. I'm not sure what the default is for that particular setting.
As for the level of enemies, with difficulty set to +0, you should usually see only +0 and +1 enemies. However, there are some missions that will have larger groups of lower level baddies (-1 or -2) near the front of the mission and then gradually get higher level (and smaller/normal groups) as you progress through the mission. The mission in The Hollows where you fight Atta (Troll leader) is a good example of this.
Short answer: may be working as intended, depending on what your boss setting is. -
I'm glad I'm not the only one who has noticed this. A little extra info: the jerking effect doesn't seem to happen as much when hovering or flying and using one of the teleport powers with the 17 second interruptible period.

Any chance we can lock this TWO YEAR old thread? It went off topic over a year ago.

CoX already has the "have and have nots." just take a look at the market forums. this is a good step in my opinion. it allows the "casual" (and i use the term loosely) player to just drop a couple bucks to get a respec, instead of playing the market for a couple of hours or so. it's more options, and i welcome our new financial overlords.
[/ QUOTE ]
why would you do that though. why pay 2/3rds of a monthly fee for something you could earn the cash for in less than a week? (less than a day if you want to)
I understand why they'll make this option available but still, why do this when you can earn it easily in the game?
[/ QUOTE ]
Sure, you could spend a few days or so in game earning influence to buy a respec recipe, or, if you don't have that kind of time (i.e. you have a JOB), you can earn real money in real life and spend a small portion of that money you've earned to buy a respec.
Personally, I don't like spending real money on anything but the subscription fee - It's just a game to me and not that important to have an on-demand respec. However, I can certainly see why other people might like having that option, so I applaud this addition. -
The fairy wings clip through the back and shoulders in flight. It is most pronounced while flying forward, as in this screenshot. The wings just don't seem to tilt forward as much as the body does.
They also clip through the shoulders just a little during the hovering animation.
