Great news. Our website being as fantastic as it is has been officially accepted into the CoH/CoV fansite portal. Click here for link. Great work Blackbone!
On that note can anyone in the sg that hasn't registered to our website please do so. Whilst doing that please submit your villain to our membership roster (theres an add your villain option in the nav bar).
I dont have any plans as of yet to form a new alt supergroup so could everyone in E.V.I.L. please stay active i.e. dont forget about your alts if they are in the sg. As space is tight those that have not been on for over 10 days face the possibility of being kicked (unless given prior warning e.g. going on holiday etc).
This coming Sunday is the Sg Arena Showdown where afew sgs (E.V.I.L., the Machines, Order of Reckoning and Violaters) will be having a big rumble to do see who are the PvP Kings. I am hoping for a nice big turnout for this (showing your lovely sg costumes as well). It wont matter if you haven't had to much experience at PvP, just batter anyone that isnt EVIL. Easy! -

Personally I'd delay fitness pool (even with toggles you won't burn End too badly with just the Assassin's Impaler and Lunge) and instead take Placate at 12 (CJ at 10) and Impale at 18 - that would delay Hurdle/Health/Stamina until L20-L24.
[/ QUOTE ]
Woah woah woah, bad idea with Super Reflexes. I'm assuming you've never played SR, as it burns through endurance like hell, even with only one toggle on. You're gonna need two end-reducers on each toggle mate.
[/ QUOTE ]
It does burn through endurance but it is managable. I just tend to have to rest alot. -
[ QUOTE ]
This build really is pure hit-and-run at lower levels (only attacks are the Assassin's Impaler plus unslotted Lunge & Brawl), which could make it tough to level up in PvE unless you have understanding team-mates. Before Impale (which you're taking 4 levels too late, imho) it's going to be a struggle to kill anything in PvE & PvP (L15 Bloody Bay) that the Assassin's Impaler doesn't one-shot - and with being so assassinate-dependant I think you're taking Placate very late too.
Personally I'd delay fitness pool (even with toggles you won't burn End too badly with just the Assassin's Impaler and Lunge) and instead take Placate at 12 (CJ at 10) and Impale at 18 - that would delay Hurdle/Health/Stamina until L20-L24. You may also want to consider a) slotting up Lunge for the lower levels and respeccing out of it later, and b) slotting a recharge SO in Impale instead of an immobilise duration, as you'll rely on it so much for finishing off the things you assassinate in PvE and Siren's Call PvP (and maybe later too, as I hear cone attacks - like Ripper and Throw Spines - are unreliable at hitting in PvP).
Apart from that the only other problem I see is that if you want to PvP a lot in Siren's Call (L25), which seems the busiest PvP zone atm, then you might want to fit in Stealth a bit earlier (i.e. at L20-24, which would delay Stamina again if you took my previous advice).
Admittedly I don't play Spines/SR (I'm EM/EA) so I'm just advising on things that "look" problematic - you may have different tactics in mind.
[ QUOTE ]
Only 2 recharge in practised brawler (it dont need 3). I would probably take out 2 of the to hit buffs in build up. With the 3 slots you have saved I would now put an extra 1 in sprint and an increase jump in super jump. Could possibly put one in combat jumping as well.
[/ QUOTE ]
If jump speed is important then instead of Sprint/SJ I'd put those 2 slots into Hurdle - you get a much better unsuppressed jump speed with CJ and still hit the jump cap with SJ too. That said I have a feeling the OP really wants the ToHit buffs in Build Up to make sure he can hit/assassinate heroes with especially good defences (due to purples, toggles, being acc-debuffed or whatever), hence the 3 acc SOs in AS too.
Your point about Practiced Brawler was well made though - 2 recharges make it perma, providing you don't get -recharge debuffed (may be the reason the OP wants the extra one in there, just in case) - the slot from that could go into Hurdle.
[/ QUOTE ]
Agree alot with what you said. To be honest I didnt really look at what levels he took things (naughty). Just made sure he had the right things and nothing silly.
Your build will depend on when you fancy PvPing as well. The longer you leave it the more powerful and effective you will be due to more powers and slots.
How you play your stalker will also have an affect. I am very much a stalker as in wait for the right moment and then attack. However, I can stand my ground (somewhat) in melee fights. I can understand wanting to have hit buffs but can honestly say I have done fine without them. Normally you are attacking an unsuspecting target so they shouldnt have used any purple insp etc. I find I hit SR scrappers fine with just build up. I think using the saved slots would be more beneficial as you can always use accuracy inspections if you are that worried about missing. Being able to move (jump) fast I find is alot more important.
I often activate practised brawler just before I go into battle (unless lots of controllers about) which means I dont have to worry about it running out. You tend to find you will have killed your target way before it runs out. Battles dont tend to last that long. If you die theres a slight delay before you can reactive it but its nothing major - a good stalker doesnt die often -
Damn it, wish base raids had an observer mode. Should be a good battle. Also Art Of War have already fought them and beat them (as well as us). However, I think they have learnt alot and have implemented various tactics and strategies since then.
Being alot poorer sg (violaters have double our prestige) I dont feel like making any other hero's ego bigger. Got to get some defenses in before EVIL can lay the smack down on the precision rangers (in terms of base raids).
Got abit of talking to do but hoping we might also have a sirens battle to sometime. Im sure I can drum up some interest from some of the other villain sgs. -
Looks like a pretty nice build to me.
I wouldnt change much but the things I would change are:
Only 2 recharge in practised brawler (it dont need 3). I would probably take out 2 of the to hit buffs in build up. With the 3 slots you have saved I would now put an extra 1 in sprint and an increase jump in super jump. Could possibly put one in combat jumping as well. -
When attacking you have to resummon all you pets. Makes being a master mind very difficult on actual base attacks.
Invaders spawn in a random location. -
[ QUOTE ]
Two points. I think the SG with the IoP can select the raiding times and secondly isn't there a balancing feature of raids so that if you can muster only 1 defender the invading team can't come through with 16 attackers?
[/ QUOTE ]
You can select one time at which you can be invaded. I dont remember reading about something that limits the amount of numbers invading. In instand raids I know thats definetly not the case. -
Just like to add its a sunday
Afew leaders from the union leaders channel have been discussing this battle and we have decided to finally have an event. Should hopefully have a good turn out. I wont mention names of various sgs that have said they take part but can tell E.V.I.L. is ready to batter you again Order of Reckoning -

I try not to give away cheap easy kills by accepting that I am gonna be killed and just stand there waiting for the inevitable.

From my original post;
"This isn't about ppl not standing and fighting - running, flying, tping or SSing away is fair enough."
Running is part of fighting. I run ALL the time, well actually I fly, but never back to base where the enemy can't follow, which is what I'm talking about.
[ QUOTE ]
I also rather my nice lovely bounty and rep go to someone who deserves it for example someone who has challenged me.
[/ QUOTE ]
"Deserved"? What does that mean? Someone with tp foe who can keep dragging you back? Seems to me that anyone who's killed you has not only challenged you, but conquered you.
[/ QUOTE ]
We were talking about multiple oppenents. Agree alot with what qisnake said. When I say deserved I mean someone that has fought well. TPing is a valid trick and dont mind if I lose. Being beaten by a gang of 8 is not deserved as never stood a chance. I try avoid them and fight someone else. If they try and attack me we have a fun game of hide and seek which may end up in the fun game catch me before I make it into base.
I also like to add that on numerous occaisions when engaging an 8 on 1 battles (or similar odds), the person I have targeted often runs away. Now to me that is a joke! The satisfaction in taking them down is worth even more then claiming a single origin to me (especially after all the taunts you get) -
[ QUOTE ]
How is running straight to base competitive, though ?
If you weren't replying to the OP and meant it more as a "I run around, and try to fight if I can catch one guy of the ganking team off guard", that I can understand.
[/ QUOTE ]
Its competitive in the sense that I dont like to die (simple as that). Dying in my head means you have lost. Thus if odds are horribly against me and I am being chased then I try not to let them have the satisfaction of killing me (unless I think I can take atleast one down with me).
If part of a team battle then it is different. Yes I will probably die but my death will be avenged. Good pvp'ers take out the threats first which means im normally the first to die - I wont be running off to my base as im not much use there. Far more useful to accept my death and get back to the battle ASAP. -
I understand that bases are a long term thing so I dont mind the costs to make a raidable base. Im also not sure on the odds of items coming back but I dont think the probability of an item being destroyed without items that increase chance of recovery is 100%.
What gets me is how i imagined bases from all the talk is just widely different to how it is. Is this the same for anyone else?
I remember all the talk of bases and thought it be excellent. I thought from all the talk that it would be very hard to get a successful raid but there be alot of them going on. I remember them talking about you being able to uses defenses to protect your base. What a joke that is - having them is all good and well but they dont really put up a great resistance. The amount of items you need in place is never ending and destroying one or two items can really set the sg back.
I cant see many proper base raids going on due to the high risk thats involved. Where is the fun in having a nice base and then having it completly destroyed? -

[ QUOTE ]
Depends. One on one, or even two or three on one and I'll probably stick it out. Anymore than that and I'm outta there.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, if the Defiant Bantamweight & Heavyweight Champion admits he runs for home when the odds are worse than 2:1 then it doesn't bode well for the community.
But I'm glad you told us, perhaps you can answer the question; Why?
Being splattered means you'll wind up back at base anyway, minus nothing but the walk home. So why run there to escape... being teleported there?
Just curious.
[/ QUOTE ]
Simple answer for me is im competitive. When outnumbered I still play on but I make you work as hard as I can for them kills. I try not to give away cheap easy kills by accepting that I am gonna be killed and just stand there waiting for the inevitable.
I also rather my nice lovely bounty and rep go to someone who deserves it for example someone who has challenged me. -
Well you know I be in. Depends how much emphasis you put on builds whether my tank would make the final grade. I also have 2 alts which may or may not be more useful. Ill/kin controller and emp/nrg defender. They are in there 30's but I could start to level them up once more.

Pre-I5, the best tank i came across was myself with Sulphur SL50 Fire/Fire Tanker
Now... I'd have to go with Stone.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well my criteria of a best tank includes more criteria then being able to take lots of damage and aggro management. I would class that as a skilled tanker. Being the best tanker surely would also need to include stuff like being a great team player and being lots of fun. In which case you would also get my vote sulphur -

Hehe, I just like to say we were here first. I came up with this original name back in beta
[/ QUOTE ]
Found it !!
Which beta? I've just found clear evidence that we came up with the name a little before that...unless you are talking about the European CoH Beta, and even then its questionable which came first since the evidence I found would place our usage near the beginning of the beta. As a matter of fact its near some posts on whether to move to the European servers.
If you check the old US Virtue Server Forum for my old EPIC supergroup from before we migrated to Europe you'll find this post , dated 9th November 2004 :P
Interesting note - looks like CoV slipped quite badly..in that post we were expecting it in 9 months.
[/ QUOTE ]
True you obviously came up with the name EVIL before me. However I am pretty sure we got set up before you guys in the CoV beta (not that it matters or anything). Thus was here first -

I cant agrea that destruction in any way is random.
[/ QUOTE ]
If an item is destroyed there's a random chance as to whether its permanently destroyed or comes back fully restored. How is that not in any way random?
[ QUOTE ]
i rather loose 5% dmg boost for the SG, than the Turbine Generator that costs not only alot of pres, but also salvage.
[/ QUOTE ]
Its a 1% bonus per IoP
[/ QUOTE ]
Ok its random but there are ways of increasing it in your favour i.e. the chances of it not being destroyed.
I thought the final figures for Items of Power have not been decided. Besides they may have the special item of power (2 per server I believe) so would be more than 1%. -
Have to say this Sunday was fun. Instead of a base raid we had a supergroup arena rumble against Order of Reckoning. If you dont wish to see the scores do not click
here.
Great performance guys and gals and I thank all for turning up. I know it was a first for a couple of the people involved and I hope its not the last.
On another postive note our base now has a nice turbine generator installed. Now means I have abit more work to do as have to decide what we want/need next. I think I shall be looking at what salvage we need for some elite defenses! -
I have several haunting Sirens Call but the main one is my lv 32 stalker. It used to be my corruptor but he keeps on getting nuked. I have also got a dom that pops on now and again to give abit of AT variation to sirens.
(All on Union) -
Well not content with a PvP stalker I have also got a Dom. She be making an apperance soon, just want afew more powers and what not. Not really a PvP build but do agree Sirens Call needs abit of AT diversification.
-
All good but im still think im gonna baggsie this months creative genius.
I have several submissions on our website including this gem here. -
Going slighly off topic but would like to add I have several memberes of my sg ready for such a task. I think we should use our leader channel to organise such an event sooooooon.
