I for one am very annoyed at the SC change that has been secretly made without Dev's telling us!

Now every Monday, (the only day I have off to do casual PvP in), Sirens Call is a RP zone, where everyone/thing is unattackable. I am thoroughly annoyed at this and urge anyone who feels the same way to post here in hope we get it changed back!

    [/ QUOTE ]

OMW to break up there party!
  2. Hmm.
Gooseman lvl 27 brute could use a respec. I have the all dom team at 7 so need to try n get it done by then.
Lvl 27 is still good for the 1st respec isnt it?

But the stacked stealth allows stalkers to make 1 strike before they become obvious to all and get blasted.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Can a scrapper two shot most At's? no, very rarely anyway, a good stalker with, stealth invis, will mostly be able to get in and AS, and a good stalker can escape, and ive seen it happent housands of times, stalkers escape whole groups. look at ninjitsu, its built for it, its got a heal that recharges super fast, a res to fear. and with acrobatics, to knockback, im sorry but not much is going to stop him getting away.

andhave you tried to fight a Mastermind with a fast heal, and bodyguard? no matter what you are your toast..MM are the most powerful PVP AT's in my opinion, if used well.

YES scrappers are VERY powerful, but they dont have much res. and each powerset lacks certain things, like MA has no range etc. so if he does get As'd he is rarely going to capture the stalker.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I have the ninja self heal at 360 seconds recharge on this hero builder thing. Is that right? cos I wouldnt call that super fast.
Scrappers regularly 2 shot squishies or pretty close to it, plus they dont have to be hidden to do it. They can also escape easier if they want to seeing as they have more HP, plus they can stick around as well. Plenty times I've seen scrappers stand in large villian groups yelling "is that the best you can do?" (including poison/drain psyche debuffed regens). Not sure where you get the idea scrappers dont have much res, there survivability (through res, def, or whatever) always seems pretty high. At least high enough to kill most things before they go down.

I reckon villians dependence on there inherents has a lot to do with it as well. I find my villains really have to maximise there inherent to perform well. Not easy on my dominator, but possible (until the anti mezz buffs start). Pretty impossible on my brute, and I refuse to beat up mobs for 2 or 3 minutes then hope i can find a hero before fury falls. I dont believe it should be played that way. Heroes arent so dependent on there inherents, its more some nice icing for them.
And yes, PPP's are almost useless, webnades and shields, thats it.
  5. [ QUOTE ]
How about CJ for the snipe? You said yourself its use is marginal, fitting in CJ can save you slots and slots matter to a dominator. How ironic the least useful AT on the RSF gets the most out of the SHOs

    [/ QUOTE ]

    CJ and a snipe?
    I'm lost.
I believe slots in hurdle and cj boost both height and speed (based on my experience only). I also agree its pointless unless you want to pvp, in which case you could argue it becomes essential.
  6. I think my question got lost in my attempt to poke fun, so here it is in its bog standard format :O)

Does the AT affect the magnitude of the temp power.

Ps. feel free to continue poking fun though.
  7. [ QUOTE ]
well i think i've decided. . . . . . i'm keeping my LvL 18 grav/energy Dom' but have killed the mind/psy and made a plant/ice instead but i'm disapointed because I think arnt cool, i just hope that their effectiveness makes up for that

    [/ QUOTE ]

If you dont warm up to the sets fairly soonish it might be worth changing to something you like the look and feel of a lot more. Pretty much all sets will go through rough patches, its liking the sets and the toon that make me push on through those more challenging bits. With a toon I dont like, I'm more likely to give up at that point.
If you arent going to pick either of your original sets though (ice/ice, or mind/psi), plant/fire is worth a look.
  8. A conflict with a noob scrapper today actually threw up a question I dont know the answer to. He had to resort to using a temp bow power as I noobishly refused to stand still and let him 2 shot my cheating dominator. He then bragged that he took off X amount of HP with his bow temp, despite failing to kill me. I wondered, is the damage from temp attacks greater on high damage ATs then low damage ones. Woulda been funny to pull out the stolen SMG I have and pepper him with lead, woulda been cheating though
  9. [ QUOTE ]
Me? a spines/regen? you need some glasses dude, cos I don't have any spines/regen myself afaik (psst have a look at my alts, they are listed below )

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sorry, i thought you were spines/regen, so many around its an automatic assumption I make now, although there have been less and less recently. Anywho, my point was that you play an AT which is good for pvp then say there is no challenge, but I think that wasnt what you said previously after all.

Yeah sure, I have yet to find more than 5% of the people in the zones worth the time i waste there

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not much of an ego there then......and people wonder why other folks dont go into pvp zones

    [/ QUOTE ]

I've only ever seen him play his spine/regen there
  11. [ QUOTE ]
tyvm all for input. especially Identity that was great i was a lil gutted about my grav/energy afterwards tho

Dont feel too bad, I started a grav recently and its about my 6th dom or something.

rofl!! seriously?! @ arena being foor 'good' players, [censored] @ EGO boosting >.< sheesh

people pvpw here they want, and regardless of rules they do what they want,

if u fight in zones or arena dont make u any better than anyone else period; and tbh + imo makes u look stupid annoucing otherwise.

    *awaits certain flamers*

    [/ QUOTE ]

No flames here. Took the words out my mouth. If you like the arena, go there. If zones get you all jangly, go there. They are different games, but one isnt "better" than the other.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I wasn't being completely serious
I just prefer the battlefield feel of the zones rather than the atmosphere of the Arena.

    [/ QUOTE ]

But it was tylantia's post I was responding to
  13. [ QUOTE ]
    I wouldn't wish /psi on anyone
Its fairly low damage and not that great when you meet npc's like carnies.
Its a real hard slog with /psi and something you won't enjoy till lvl 38 were it gets abit eaiser with psi shockwave.
If you want enjoyment go mind/ but something else like /ice or /nrg.

    [/ QUOTE ]

My experience of 40 lvls on a mind/psi plus countless hours malefactoring and pvping suggests otherwise. Yes, you will hate carnies (like most people) but /psi isnt unplayable like some people make out. Its also one of the few sets which give you the option to leave out the fitness pool and with psi dart you will be building domination super fast.

  15. Mind/psi has more control, ice/ice has more damage. Mind/psi can be tough against psi resistant mobs, ice/ice can be a bit end heavy in the early days. Both are good though, so its really down to which one you think you might enjoy the most.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
A supposedly damaging power that sometimes hits and does no damage is something I would like to swap for something else. (ie. if they dont get levitated due to immob etc they take no falling damage). Although I have levitate on my dominator who isnt a damage king anyway..

    [/ QUOTE ]

It looks like they still take damage even when immobalised. If you try throwing up the cars in mayhems, they dont move (but how cool would it be if they did ), but they take damage after the time it WOULD take for the levitate animation. I'm pretty sure its the same against an immobalised target. IMO, the best use of levitate is to take a boss out the fight for a few seconds in between stacking holds. I wonder if with mind/energy you might also be able to use levitate and power push to stop people attacking during the supression period
  17. [ QUOTE ]
    I think it's a case of

Arena PvP: Generally seen as high end, so may scare people off (also it's harder to be lame and run away when you're losing). Also, Arena Bugs don't help official events.
Zone: Well, lag. That and people being idiots in broadcast, which is unavoidable.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Seen as high end by who?
By the people who like to play there, and also portrayed that way by them ("you have to be this tall to get on this ride" sort of thing, which is a bigger factor than players feeling intimidated). Both require different skills, but one isnt "better" than the other, simply different. As you demonstrated, stopping people running is one skill which is a bigger factor in the zones.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
There was a sirens call event in EU once not too long ago, wasnt there? Iirc there were so many people that 'lag was horrible'. I don't see this is a problem of lack of players, but more of the hardware and game..

    [/ QUOTE ]

Is this the player organised one or bridger vs rockjaw?
I missed the player one but yes, the dev organised one was a lag fest, after that no wonder they are reluctant to set up new ones. Out of interest, with balanced sides, how many do you need for a good punch up? I've had as good a time with 6 people in the zone as i have with 20 or more.
  19. I'm guessing you dont plan to pvp with this.
Might be worth putting more slots in lift and slotting a bit more accuracy in general.
Not sure if propel is worth picking up, theres a theory it gets in the way of fast domination building due to the animation time.
Its also worth trying to fit accrobatics in. Lots of knockback from longbow and scrapyarders.
I'd also try getting powerboost earlier and maybe taking tp foe over recall friend.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
I've seen a couple of badge farming posts, but what about some BB or RV posts, pitching villains against heroes? Like many other pvp'ers, I'm willing toswap to the underdog side and help keep it even

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm in SC almost every night anyway.
BB is a bit too large a map for the number of players it pulls in, and without a bounty system to give a clue where people are, you can walk around all day and see no one. Introducing bounty to BB might help seeing as you have more help locating targets. I know a lot of people use BB as a sort of arena and wouldnt like this idea as duelling tends to break the bounty system. Hopefully this will push them into arena pvp and help that grow a bit more. That is if high level players include them, there seems to be a sort of lvl 50 snobbery concerning the arena.
  21. Funny, the zones have been bursting at the seems with people knocking the [censored] out each other. If you repeat the phrase "pvp is dead" often enough people will believe it and it will become true.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
If you're going to lay down a challenge you could at least try to get the date right

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thats just a clever ruse, confusion tactics n that.

just like to comment on the dominators are fine posts.... there meant to be controlling type and like causing damage so i can see the idea behind what has been done... but how often do doms win in pvp, they dont stand a chance to be fair, to me this means they need at least a bit of a buff some how.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Many defenders don't stand a chance solo in PvP either.

That's OK, because CoX's PvP is not designed to be a one-on-one activity (consider Stalkers).

    [/ QUOTE ]

Which self stacking buff increases the mag of a team mates holds then? ie. an anti CM buff. Defenders have a much higher survivability due to there heals and debuffs.
  25. 11 times in a row?
Ouch. was this a lowbie dom?
Accuracy debuff would be good but prolly wouldnt be added to current sets. Dark doms would prolly get it, wonder how strong it would be. This is part of the reason I'm hoping we get dark dominators, that the acc debuff will push survivability up.
We also need something to stack over the insane level of mezz protection players get in pvp when hero teams bring emps in and pretend its self stacking nature is fair (10 times tank lvl protection and more). Actually an upper limit on mezz protection would be easier but I cant see it happening. Can we get a buff to jump speed please?
