Are you crazy? It boosts my 3 slotted hover to flight speeds!
Not to mention that it's free vertical sj and horizontal hover + midair jumps at level 1
[/ QUOTE ]
To what?... a single slotted Fly for 30 secs? :-)
I most certainly would not call it a vertical Superjump, considering how slow it is by itself. It is similair to Superjump in the way it works, except it's a fraction of Superjmp's speed. If one has Superjump already, it definitely makes a difference ...if you think that's worth the extra $....
[/ QUOTE ]
If you bought it only for the jump jet then of course you're disappointed.
I bought it for everything and at 10 bucks I feel I got my money's worth.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yup, I am surprised at how much I like the new armor options. -

The empowerment stations are only good for refining salvage and the "temp powers" are to weak to use... EVEN IF THEY WERE FREE. Even if it cost nothing.. no prestige... not infamy and certianly not slavage...
[/ QUOTE ]
IMO it seems they were more worried about how these would be used in PvP. So rather than listen to people complain about how powerful the buffs were, they hit it with a pre-emptive nerf. This is sad because they have the potential to help the PvE side or the game.
[/ QUOTE ]
PvP wrecks yet another potentialy great PvE aspect of the game.
I think I am getting used to this. -

Multiple empowerment stations will stack the buffs that are offered (by design). If we made the buffs as good as players "expect" right out the gate, they'd be WAY too good when stacked.
[/ QUOTE ]
So make them better, but un-stackable. End of problem.
[/ QUOTE ]
/agree
If they are going to be too overpowered when stacked, but a) most people aren't going to be able to stack them and b) the salvage costs for stacking them are insane
DON'T MAKE THEM STACK
Is it ever possible to just get something thats actually good as it is? Instead of needing Eight somethings to make a useful tool?

One of the selling features of City of Villains and City of Heroes has always been the ability to fight the super-powered players on the other side.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is really funny to me since the selling feature to me when I first started this game was that it did not have PvP. and that when it eventually got it, it was not suposed to interfere with the PvE game.
Oh well.
This game was so much better in issue 1 2 3 and even 4. -

But all in all the system was originally meant to aalow a player to go back and complete content they missed.

Sadly Stateman keeps saying "he doesn't like the idea of flashback"
If he could give us one solid reason, I would be OK with it, but it is like he is saying we are not even worth responding to.
You'd think I would be used to it by now....... -

I'm not going to voice an opinion on the merit of making the Isolator badge available to characters created before the badge existed. I do want to convey how I see Isolator as different than other "special" badges.
Badges for Celebrant, defeating the Winter Lord and completing the Calvin Scott TF are all tied to specific events. Respectively, CoH's one-year anniversary, the 2004 winter event and a time-limited TF that moved the game's story forward with Malaise going rogue.
The badge for Isolator is not an event badge. It is available to every character created in the game, without restriction. But it was not put into the game until months after the game shipped, so any characters created before cannot get the badge. You can't go back to the tutorial, after all.
Players without Isolator didn't miss a special event, their characters simply existed before badges did. There is no fault here, the system simply wasn't in place at the time.
Is it reasonable for players with pre-Issue 2 characters to want some way to get Isolator? Perhaps, perhaps not. But it's not the same as asking for a time-limited event badge long after the event has come and gone.
[/ QUOTE ]
Exactly. -

I dont' get why you guys are so mad about it. It is just one small thing that many people really want.
[/ QUOTE ]
While I can't speak for Liquid, I'm not mad at the suggestion, just that some people feel that they "deserve" something for being a customer, when in reality, you're paying for a service, and nothing more.
It would just be like if I were to go into McDonalds, ordered a cheese burger, and then claimed that I deserved fries with that for free. It's money out of their pocket, not helping them at all, and in fact hurting them, but it helps me because I get a dancing plethora of hot tasty french fries in my mouth screaming "Hallelujah". I ordered the cheeseburger, paid for the cheeseburger, and then I asked for more without any show for it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actualy no that is not what it is like. Here is what it actualy is like (from my view)
I have gone to the same Mcdonalds every days since it opened. I order a hamburger everyday and ask for cheese but they say they have none.
Then one day you come in and they offer you a cheese burger. I am next in line and ask if I can have cheese on my hamburger, but they say no because I have been coming to their store, spending money and suporting them for too long. SO I wont be able to get cheese on my burgers. Ever. Even though any new customers can.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, in this case it would be "So, I wont be able to get cheese on the burgers I already had. But, if I order a new, different burger, I could get cheese on THAT."
[/ QUOTE ]
I knew you would say that, but the thing is It is a different case because this product is not consumed.
I play one toon. I have the option of playing others, but it doesn't say anywhere I have too. There are many of us who play 1 toon. And as I said earlier I have all the event badges on this one toon. Were I to start another I would be missing even more badges.
I know missing badges may not be important to you but it is to me.
So my example stands. It may not be a technical "bug" but it is a lapse in design and customer service and it needs to be addressed.
I think what happened was the devs said, ah it's just one badge who will care? Not realizing all of us Yahoos take the game far to serious, and would really want it.
I think it would be a small unique fix and it could be as specific as only available to characters who started pre I2. SO people who ar lv 50 and or who have more than say 200 badges and started before I2 are just assumed to have goten it and awarded the badge. Bang easy fix. and to all the people who "forgot" well that is their fault isn't it?
That way there is little extra programing, and the laps in planning is fixed.
This is but one of many possible solutions, I am trying to demonstrate that I personaly am not necessarily for anyone getting the badge, more for those who couldn't but should have been able too.
Though at this point I would take anything. -

[/ QUOTE ]
For one thing, it's never "One small thing". Once this is done, this opens the door for anyone to come in and claim such and such should be done because *they* never had a chance to do it (Such as the Calvin Scott TF), all with the excuse of "Well, they did it THAT time, so they should do it THIS time too". In other words, once you do it for one person or group, you have to do it for everyone ELSE too. And in the end, it just defeats the whole purpose of having "special" badges in the first place.
[/ QUOTE ]
Isolator is a very unique situation in that it is currently offered to anyone starting a new character but those who have played for a long time don't have acess to it. It is the only thing in this game that works this way. Everything else is the reverse where people "missed out" on opportunities because they were not playing the game when they were offered.
However I was hear throughout the entire time both before and after this badge became a vailable. But I still dont get access to it. That is just not right.
I do not believe this will open your "can of worms" since it is a very distinctive case.
Also see my mcdonalds example above. -

Your right. It's not up to you, or me. It's up to the Dev's. And I have every right to post a counterargument in a thread to disagree with an idea that I don't like. If you don't like that, Bite me. I'm tired of dealing with people who use the same, tired old excuses of "Because I'm a paying customer" or "It's punishing the loyal customers if you don't make the changes I want!"
I hear enough of that s**t at work, and I'm getting damn tired of hearing it here, too.
[/ QUOTE ]
ok you're right in that you can post your opinion. You are wrong if you think you have the right to be verbaly abusive.
Which is what I said earlier.
As for Fanboi. MY bad. It is just the title I hear thrown around a lot about you guys. I assumed it meant someone who defends the game and devs often.
Wasn't meant as an insult, just trying to give the statment I used it in intensity.

They already said they don't intend for every badge to be attainable by a single character. Right around the time people first noticed that anycharacter made after badges were introduced couldn't get Isolator.

*points to his post earlier in the thread*
Celtic, do your search-fu. I believe it was Positron who initially posted that reasoning regarding Isolator when it was first released.
[/ QUOTE ]
True he did. But the devs have also changed their minds on different topics based on popular demand.
He also did not flat out say no, he just vaguely made a reference to badges in general.
I think there is still hope. -

asking for something that takes resources, money, and time away from things that need it more (eg: bugs, powers, content)
[/ QUOTE ]
Says who? I and many others think this is a good way to spend resources. Just cause you don't that doesn't make it so.
Ultimately it is up to the devs to decide. We are just offering our 2 cents, SO this is simply not a good reason, it is something that is already taken into account by those who matter. -
Uhm I wasn't trying for insulting when I said Fanboi. It is just well known on the forums that that is what you guys are and Friggin taser. No offense that's just the way it is.
I gave a good reason. It was a mistake on the devs part and I want it fixed.
I don't care that you guys dissagree with my suggestion or anyone elses. What I object to is that this forum is specificaly for suggestions, not to debate their merit. It is not up to either of you. (or me for that matter)
I also object to your undeserved hostility and language. You don't like the idea. OK pipe in. But be nice.
I know this idea gets repeated a lot but if you are tired of seeing it don't read it.
If you are dead set against it write a thread that says so. But don't get mad because someone wants it that is just sily.
You guys are just making yourselves look bad for no reason. Relax. -
Liquidx and celtic.
YOu guys need to chill. This forum is for suggestions and ideas you dont like 'em? Tough.
At the very least show some respect.
It is great that you fanbois are getting everything you want but that does not mean others don't want change. Just because YOU don't like the changes we are asking for does not diminish there worth.
Who is to say what is more important to whom? Badges are important to me so I am asking for change. If something else is important to you ask for that. But show respect.
It's funny that neither of you can present actual arguments as to why someone who has supported this game from the beginning shouldn't be aloud to get a chance at the Isolator badge. YOu just make with personal attacks in a forum meant for creative discussion. Good Job!
Everyone knows that you have lost the argument when all you can do is throw insults.
Also. I am not saying that CoH did not reward loyalty at all, they obviously do, but in the case of Isolator I and many others feel they have made a mistake.
It is the one case where someone who commited to the game lost out and it is not right. All the extra bonuses and rewards do not make up for this mistake, especialy since it would be an easy fix.
As for better spent resources? They just gave out what I consider to be useless temp powers out from lvs 1 to 10. I think that was a waste but others don't. Point is just because it is of no use to you does not make it unimportant or useless. -
[ QUOTE ]
So whats to keep someone from signing onto the game right now, and then demanding that there should be a way for them to get things like the Celebrant Badge, the Halloween Badges, or all the Winterlord badges? *THEY* never knew about them, and *they* never had the chance to get them...
[/ QUOTE ]
Nothing. Nothing is here to stop them and that is the point.
This is the suggestion forum. It is where people go to request things and suggest things.
But for the record this is my opinion on the subject. It is not the same your comparison is flawed.
I did not miss a badge because I was not playing this game when those badges were awarded. (Like the holiday badges)
I missed getting a badge because I was a loyal customer and played and supported this game from the very beginning.
To me that is a huge difference. Customers should be rewarded for staying with a game and not punished. -

I'm with you Emerald....the badge should be avaible elsewhere...why because 99% of new people don't know about the badge and by the time they do it's too late. As for the logic it's just another badge....well the same would hold logic to a coin collector because to people who couldn't care less about coins it's just another coin. To the collector on the other hand...it may only be worth a penny, but to them it's their most prized possesion.
[/ QUOTE ]
Except where your logic fails is that, with a coin collector, if a single coin was out of production, and then went back into production, its value would drastically decrease.
The same goes with Isolator...by making it attainable by someone who was part of beta, and on their first character, then the value of Isolator decreases. Just roll up a new badge [censored] and get it...
[/ QUOTE ]
But we want it on our MAIN badge [censored]. Why is that so hard to understand? Why is it that just because you don't care about getting Isolator you think we shouldn't be allowed to get it?
[/ QUOTE ]
And why is it so hard for YOU to understand that if you don't fullfill the requirements to get the badge (Even if you had no way of doing so previously) that you should *NOT* be able to get the badge, or be able to go back and get it?
Y'know, I am getting so [censored] tired of people wanting to whine or twist the system just so they can get their way. Get the [censored] over it.
[/ QUOTE ]
BECAUSE. we (I) was never given the chance to get it. I play one toon. I was 50 before I2 and I still play him everyday. I have 315 badges. and the ONLY reason I don't have Isolator is because it did not exist when I started after beta.
Not only that but I DID kill well over 100 contaminated, because we were just learning about the game at the time and it was fun; But because they weren't tracking kills back then I still don't get the badge, even though technicaly I DID EARN IT.
That is why we need something (at the very least for any toon started before I2) to allow us the chance to get that badge.
You may not understand why it is important to us. You may not understand why we dont just roll up another badge toon (though personaly it is because I wouldn't have any of the holiday badges if I did)
But just because you don't get it is no reason to deny it to us.
[/ QUOTE ]
We [censored] get it...we have the same [censored] situation. My badge collector has almost every badge but Isolator, too. He was made in before issue 1 came out. He's level 42. The only difference is that we accept that we can't get everything, and we're fine with that.
Seriously, you're acting like a child...just stop asking for what you can't have, and accept the slap and the wrist.
[/ QUOTE ]
I am not swearing or calling names. SO who is acting like a child?
I understand that they have it set a certain way. And if you want to accept it that is your call. But I fight for things I want.
It is unfortunate but the best way to get devs to change something is to bring it to their attention, and the best way to do that is to keep asking and reminding them.
SO until Statesman comes to a forum and says : "Markus you will never be able to get Isolator"
I am going to keep asking for it.
If you don't want to hear about it I can respect that. SO don't read a thread called: "An idea for Isolator! " in the SUGGESTIONS FORUM!!
But to come to a forum where people are trying to offer ideas on how it should be awarded and getting mad at them for it is ignorant. -

The Isolator Badge reads:
"You began your career on a high note, by personally ending the riots of contaminated thugs in the Outbreak Zone."
However every hero created before Issue 2 has no way to get it! I know there's been some discussion about it, but here's an idea.
Any level 50 hero that speaks to Ms Liberty or Back Alley Brawler will have the opportunity to do a new mission for them. You can only do this mission once and you must be level 50 to gain access to it.
"Hello <hero name>, as a Hero of the City I have a special assignment for you! When you first entered Paragon City the Contaminated in Outbreak were running rampant. Their numbers have grown since and are taking over!
DATA has provided me with a personal Time Travel device that will teleport you back to the time you arrived. But beware <Hero Name>, the contamination has spread! The only powers available to you will be the two you had when you first arrived!
If you stop the Contaminted you will have saved the zone from being overrun in the present! The time travel device only works for one person so you must complete this assignment alone. Return to me for debriefing when you are complete! Good luck!"
As soon as the hero accepts the mission they will transported to the Outbreak map and it will be infested with twice the normal amount of Contaminated! The mission will be to eliminate 250 Contaminated and the mission display will have a counter. The hero will be autoexemped to level one.
The hero takes out 250 of them, gets the badge and a L53 SO. Click mission complete to return to Ms Lib or BAB. Click on them:
"Great job <hero name>! You did it! You stopped the contamination during your arrival to the city and have helped all future generations of heroes. You are a Hero of the City!"
Why the time-travel aspect of the storyline?
To preserve the original intent of the badge "You began your career on a high note.."
Why level 50s only?
Dedication! Only heroes that have shown such dedication to their characters and to the game should have this one opportunity. Heroes created before issue two, should be level 50 by now anyway.
Why the SO? Just a little incentive for a hero created after Issue 2 that has Isolator to run the mission.
Why is the mission only available once? Storyline purposes
Why 250 Contaminated? Dedication! Dedicated badge collectors will not mind. And story line purposes. Because the hero didn't take out 100 Contaminated the first time they were there, their numbers grew, now the hero must make up for it!
What do you think?
[/ QUOTE ]
Awesome idea. But I don't think it shuld be for lv 50 heroes.
It should be for heroes who have hit the 300 badge mark. or possibly 200.
That shows real dedication. Getting to 50 is easy. -
