Its Necro day at the CoH Forums! Come on down! You never know what you'll find walking around!
-
I certainly love the depth of history and mythology that's in the game, howver so much of it can only be peiced together through Missions and history plaques or can only be found by looking up information from the old website, interveiws, or occational posts on the boards. Is there any plans to make zone, villians, and trainer histories more available in game?
There are lot of villians mentioned in passing, like Grendel, Tub-Ci, Odysseus, Baron Zoria, and others who never appear in CoH. Will these villians eventually fit into the story of CoH or are they just background characters? -
Alrigth, the Shadow Shard is definately one of my favorite zones, even if I don't spend alot of time there. As for the changes:
The teleporters to the Chantry and the Storm Palace really look.. well.. thrown in there. They are nice to have, but they kind break the feel of the millitary base, especially with those big blue signs.
Why not extend the mole points and keep with the theme of the zone. Its even been suggested that the existing mole point in FBZ be used like a train, allowing you to pick which of the three to travel to. An excellent idea!
The dotted lines for the geysers are nice, they make it a bit easier to tell where you're headed. I do notice a few lines that don't seem to match the direction that the "ramp" on the geysers point. The missing geyser on the map in the Cascades are understandable since there are so many close togehter, but it certainly won't help a hero new to that area get around.
The Store contacts are kinda nice... but really by the time I get to the 40s, influence is normally not a problem.
The TF badges give people a little more reason to visit the zone, though some exploration badges would be great too! History badges might work if the are more like the monuments (something Faathim errected perhaps) or something more rustic, like the human natives had put them up.
What the TF needs more then anything else is a story! The contacts hardly give anything, and the TFs are too long! The Dr. Quarterfeild TF, for instance, is full of "busy work" missions that add nothing to the story. -

Yes, we're working on 50 level only content.

Guess some people didn't pick that up from the reason that HO's were nerfed... -

You.....DO realize that if he takes off that suit, antimatter will mix with matter, and there'll be a huge explosion. Right?
[/ QUOTE ]
Still funny when put to the Benny Hill theme music.....
[/ QUOTE ]
Agreed, although explosions and resulting carnage are more of a Monty Python touch, really.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well it would give everyine a reason to chase him.. which is Benny Hillish... -

Since when is magical beings not part of comics?
[/ QUOTE ]
Not saying it isn't. In fact, I enjoy Dark Astoria as a zone and the story behind it. I'm kinda baffled as to why this new zone isn't tied into it somehow.
I'm just saying, seeing this type of content... only a year into the game, COH should still be introducing fresh and new ideas for itself and not content that makes me wonder if I wandered into Everquest by accident.
[/ QUOTE ]
This zone has likely been planned form the begining, I'm sure. It will tie inot the magical groups somehow, perhaps not right away. Just rememer what preceeded the fist apperance of the "Cabal" and the Fir Bolg. -
[ QUOTE ]
also about the Epic badges. Didin't positron talk about that? they're gonna be badges for takeing...say...100mil damage and stuff(maybe thats high)
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah they are there:
[ QUOTE ]
New Badges for epic character accomplishments and special badges for events within Croatoa.

Look closely at the screenshot with the Giant. See that little flaming pumpkin head in between his legs? Anyone else recognize that?! Woot!
[/ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
New Villains The Cabal of witches, the nasty imps called Red Caps, the giant Fir Bolg and the legendary Tuatha de Dannan rule this realm.
[/ QUOTE ]
Umm... yeah.
I wonder if the badges are returning too.... -
[ QUOTE ]
Heh, I just hope the hostage A.I. is smart enough to "follow" well (if the missions are designed that way). Nothing more annoying than a hostage than won't move or won't get out of the way of obstacles.
[/ QUOTE ]
I have a feeling the Hostage won't be following... we will be. -

Yay more shared power sets between controllers and defenders. There was not enough overlap already.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm going to mark it, at 12:25 pm ET I5 has it's first offical complant.
[/ QUOTE ]
The huge thread on Crotoa's level range didn't count? -
[ QUOTE ]
Why atleast they get new powers. There is nothing for Scrappers or tanker. I love the way they have been left out in the cold.
Later,
[/ QUOTE ]
Well Tankers Primaries and Scrapper secondaries are still more unique then Defender Primaries and Controller Secondaries. -

[/ QUOTE ]
My thoughts exactly! Yeah for only one primary to call our own! -
[ QUOTE ]
oh there is a good deal in the Shard TFs, but frankly those four zones REALLY need some damn development. They Are TEH AWESOME! it would be great to have some stuff to do there beyond fruit hunting.
[/ QUOTE ]
With the exception of the Dr. Quarterfeild TF, yes. And I expect more later. It doesn't mean it wouldn't be cool to have it fleshed out some. We don't know much about the people who are native to the SS and how they dealt witht he world when it first shattered. -
The history of the Shadow Shard.
Come on! They have some some Shadow Shard arc in there somewhere! -

At one of the bridges in Independence Port there is a statue of a woman dominating the landscape. Somewhere I read that she was a speedster who saved IP during one of the disasters. I remember the story, but can't tell you the badge, history plaque or heck, it may have been in the back story of one of the comic books. Regardless, I'd like to see her story laid out.
Also, how about Galaxy Girl? Other than a plaque, she has no other mention in the game.
[/ QUOTE ]
That characters name is Wavelength.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well it's all making sense now!
And Galaxy girl is mentioned twice that i can think of.. her *poof* you're a superhero orgin sotry and her valiant death during the Rikti War (plaque in Eden). -
I personally really want to see the Kheldians in action, Moonfire, Sunstorm, and Shadowstar.
[ QUOTE ]
Blue Steel
[/ QUOTE ]
That would be inertesting.
[ QUOTE ]
Ms. Liberty
[/ QUOTE ]
Add in the Freedom Corps with her eh?
[ QUOTE ]
Mynx
[/ QUOTE ]
Heck with all the cat girls in Paragon, they might as well do an all Cat Girl issue
[ QUOTE ]
Heck, any of the NPC Hero Trainers.
[/ QUOTE ]
Old Malaise would be a good one.
What about the Woodsman, or the Spirit there of.
How about some of the SO NPCs, like Agent Six, Mark IV, or SeraFina. -
At this point, al we know is the name. Anything else is (wild) speculation.

Not right away. A lot of the art has to be redone to take advantage of the new features, and we only have so many monkeys here. I mean artists!
[/ QUOTE ]
I hope they arenn't letting the monkeys out at night.... best to keep them busy! -
[ QUOTE ]
I have seen this xenophobia junk on other forums and I had really hoped that CoH wouldn't get the disease.
[/ QUOTE ]
Guess we should have taken a hint by how popular the 5th was. -
[ QUOTE ]
OMG That was awesome!!
Liked the moves they gave to Manticore, too... when I make my bow blaster or defender or whatever, can I do a forward roll and shoot too?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes! I'm glad they used heroes other then Back Alley Brawler and Sister Psychie this time! Maticore was sweet! I liked that TP shot he took!
Wouldn't have minded seeing Moonfire in action for the first time though. Maybe our mistory hero will be a new TF contact i the new I5 Area.... -
This is one of the reasons I love this game
-
[ QUOTE ]
You must be very, very brave. I wouldn't field questions from rabid players in a public setting.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well techincally its suppose to be a "professional" setting...
yeah.. right...
