Sadly, same here. Especially after the mauling the "great recession" did over the past year/year-and-a-half coupled with a recent relocation out of California. Hope everyone has a blast...please have a drink for Somber and I. We'll be with you guys in spirit.

    P.S. Oh, and don't forget...beware the cougars!
  3. I'm still in the process of recovering from my recent relocation to the Pacific Northwest and the the maiming the "great recession" did to me. So it's quite difficult to justify the travel expenses with such a short event, especially with the holidays right around the corner. Sadly, Somber and I will very likely be two more no-shows this year.

Thank you for setting this shindig up Marcian! It was wonderful seeing our community come together to pay tribute to those who made our game so great.

Fare thee well Back Alley Brawler and the unnamed 8. You will be sorely missed.

Food was great, the Devs could not have been nicer and the only minor complaint is that we love them so much that we were a bit cramped in the space provided. Seriously - if you ever get a chance to meet up with the folks who make this game in person - take advantage of it. They are all top class folks.

Big Bug Hugs to all, and have a safe flight tomorrow!

I couldn't put it any better myself! As always, many thanks to the OCR team and devs for an awesome M&G! Had such a wonderful time! I'm new to Seattle and it's so comforting to know there's a large player base in my new home...hope those I meeted and greeted with this evening keep in touch!

The OCR folks are usually pretty strict about their one button/code per attendee rule. I would hope that Ocho and Avatea would make some arrangements to get these pieces of swag to Cakiea during the panel for all his/her hard work as an Enforcer.
  9. I look forward to seeing both! Super excited that PAX starts tomorrow!

Little bummed that there's a chance I'll be "fashionably late" and miss the start of the M&G (going to try to get a seat for Wil Wheaton's panel, which overlaps slightly with the M&G). Hope I don't miss much!
  10. Yay! Hurray for the awesomeness that is Justice!
  11. Hey, I woke up early enough to be able to make a matinee!! I'll be bringing Argent Ember, Lvl 50 Fire/Emp.

EDIT - It appears Somber will be able to make it too...
  12. Yay Mess!! Great to see you!!

  14. Yay pictures! I'm crossing my fingers that I'll be able to make the next one!
  15. Something popped up and I unfortunately will be unable to make it tonight. Have fun ladies!

True, but there a lot of pent-up demand for an east coast M&G and it was a new con and new venue...so they didn't have a very good idea what the actual demand would be like for the M&G and if the venue would be up to the task. They've been coming to PAX Prime for a number of years now and they've used this year's venue for M&Gs several times already. So they have a far better idea on how many people are likely to show vs. the venue's capacity.

An RSVP wasn't needed for the PAX M&G last year. I'd venture to guess since it wasn't mentioned in the announcement, one isn't needed this year either.
  20. For those who missed out on the 3-Day or Saturday passes, heads up that the COH/V community relations folks are running a contest to win a 3-day pass for PAX Prime.

    Details!

The same thing happened at PAX East. PAX attendees don't wait for the panel schedule to be released and the 3-Days and Saturday passes *always* sell out early for PAX. But they sold out even earlier than usual for PAX Prime this year...3-Days sold out in mid-June and the Saturday passes sold out shortly thereafter. Guessing it is probably due to the con's increasing popularity coupled with it being their 10-year anniversary.

Paragon has their hands tied by PAX's pre-con schedule...they submit a request to the PAX organizers for the panel and can't announce their panel until they hear if or when their panel will be during the con. If you look at PAX's website, the organizers haven't even released the schedule for the convention yet (even though we're 25 days from the con). I'm guessing given that the Paragon Studios folks announced their panel before the official schedule was posted (and made their announcement earlier than in years past), they made the announcement as soon as they were able (i.e. got the green light from the PAX organizers). Basically, don't put too much of the blame on the Paragon Studios folks...much of the problem is with how PAX is planned and organized.

Best suggestion I can make for people who want to attend Saturday for this year's con (but did not get tickets in time) is to put in a request in the Have a Ticket/Need a Ticket thread on the PAX official forums (http://forums.penny-arcade.com/showt...3814)...people who arrange for their passes to be sold in this thread should only be selling them at face per the forum rules. There's lots of requests right for passes right now, but who knows...you may get lucky. Can also give ebay or Seattle's Craigslist (http://seattle.craigslist.org/) a try. I saw a couple listed on ebay and quite a few listed on Craigslist. But beware the scalpers...they are unfortunately aplenty.

P.S. I too am rather disappointed that they will not be at the NCSoft booth this year. Full of fail.

Yes, we have fewer people, but not that many less. Plus, the people at Dragon*Con are almost an entirely different group of people to reach, versus seeing a relatively large percentage of the same people who saw you last year and the year before.
If COH/V's lack of presence on the PAX Prime convention floor this year is a sign of things to come, I don't see why they couldn't consider doing both conventions in the future. The whole reason they couldn't do Dragon*Con in the past was because they needed the crew to man the booth for the entire convention. If they don't have a presence at the booth, then they don't need people to man the booth...which means more time to play with and less expended in payroll expenses. There's no reason why they couldn't send two smaller crews to each con or have one crew fly from SFO to SeaTac, do their panel and M&G at PAX early in the convention, fly from SeaTac to Atlanta, then do their panel and M&G at Dragon*Con late in the convention.

Judging from the announcement, it looks like the costume codes have to be picked up at the M&G.

I too find it concerning that COH/V will not be represented at the NCSoft booth this year. Considering Going Rogue's release is *just* before the convention, it sounds like PS is loosing out on a prime marketing opportunity.

As with all past con M&Gs, the M&G for PAX Prime is not located within the convention venue and you do NOT have to have a pass for the con to go to the M&G.

Even though tickets are sold out for the day that the COH panel is being held, I highly encourage players who are considering it to buy passes for whichever days are still available. You can use Saturday morning/afternoon for sightseeing...there's lots of fun things to see and do around these parts!
