I dont expect you to post daily, but I check with a hopeful heart that there is something new to read.

Now you know how Gilgamesh, the Dev that does the Paragon Times, feels Keep up the good work, TPull... I love reading your chronicles! /em thumbsup

Some problems I noted with the trailer.

Nothing major, just wanted to point them out. Love it to death.

    1. The scrapper (or the martial arts guy, whoever he is) should run in front while statesman says "wait, wait lets stick together", then the scrapper should be the one beat up before the team meats the villians.

    2. Also, I don't know if I saw a tanker there, but if the scorpion guy (I assume a brute) is able to taunt, he should say something like "hey lemme herd these guys, I think I can take em".

    3. Synapse should attack the villians before the non squishies of the team initiate combat, using his most powerful attack, and possibly scatter them around the room.

Nothing critical there, just a minor devation from normal hero behavior.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    You missed one:

    - As the heroes run into the building and Manticore pulls back his bow, covering their rear, we should hear Synapse' voice crackle over their com units, "Oh, there's lots of guys in here. Oh crap! Help! Where the [censored] are you guys???

Eh, the concept of avatars isn't one that shows up in Greek Mythology, and the gods did tend to get their hands dirty much of the time. There's this weird modern Western barrier to the idea of a god in a work of fiction actually being fallible and directly involved in events, but that's the whole point of Greek mythology.

That said, I don't think that Statesman is a god.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Hey, speak for yourself, KaliMagdalene!

I think Statesman's a god! A wise and benevolent god. A god who'd never seek retribution against some lowly player like me for saying he wasn't a god. A god who'd take no notice of a little insect like me in his wonderful world! All hail Statesman!

I can't help but notice that Captain Mako was voiced by Sean Fish.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Errrrrr... yeah. This actually brings something up that I noticed yesterday. I recently bought the trade paperback that collects the first Savage Dragon Miniseries. Enjoyed reading it, but I noticed that in the second issue there's a shark-headed villian named "Mako."

Manticore or anyone else, are you aware of this character's existence? I really don't want you to have to Bastion/ Citadel the guy in mid-release.
  6. [ QUOTE ]

...It's been said that sometime after CoV launch Heroes and Villains can be redeem themselves back to the light or fall into the dark....

    <Ka-Snip>
Now consider this Hero-Villain cross over. They won't just release patch notes saying Heroes can now become Villains and vice-versa. They will most likely wrap a story/event around it.

So could it possible be that Ghost, through a twist of fate or critical choice, goes Good Guy. And that some tragic event befalls Fore Shadow, where-by he is killed and comes back in his Bad Guy phase. Thereby opening up the crossover functionality?

So in the game world you would now have a new Hero with a Villain power set, and a new Villain with a Hero power set.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I LIKE this idea!!!!!!!!

Gives some real storytelling functionality to the game... yeah, I know, people who just want to play for playing's sake who aren't story-nerds like me might think it's a drag, but the idea of a personal-crisis-based mission that actually transforms your character into a villian is a great one.

Don't know if they're actually going to do it this way, but I did want to let Matrix_Zero_One know that I, at least, think this idea rocks!

See, that's really cool! This kind of backstory needs to be apparent in the game, and not just to us forum lurkers!

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Workin on it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm sure they'll relate the backstory on the villians and on Foreshadow the same way they've been relating the backstory so far: story arcs and taskforces. Yay! New content!
  8. Hey Manticore

Thanks so much for the detailed info. Great script and a well put together trailer. Oh, and great bio's for Foreshadow and Scirocco. You guys rock when it comes to putting together the backgrounds (can we find out more in the upcoming novel written by... )

Just wanted to take a second and thank you guys so much for using real voice actors for the trailer. Yes, it would have been cool to have Jack and Zeb voice their alter-ego's, but it's nice to know that you're willing to to pay a little extra to get professionals in to do the job. Many actors out there view interactive games as a danger to their livelihood; it's nice to see that Cryptic is willing to incorporate them into the process.
  9. OMG That was awesome!!

Liked the moves they gave to Manticore, too... when I make my bow blaster or defender or whatever, can I do a forward roll and shoot too?
  10. OH-MY-FREAKIN'-GOD!!!!

You guys rule! Your videos just keep getting better and better. You put out the DVD Box Set and I'll buy it in a heartbeat!

Love your stuff, both of you! You guys make an awesome team (and Mr. Abyss, any husband who can take hits like that an knows when to fall down is a wise man in my opinion... )
  11. [ QUOTE ]
It kinda makes me feel a little sad that such a reassurance is needed in the first place.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Bears repeating. I love you guys... you truly ARE the best Dev team I've ever experienced. You deserve so much more respect than you get.
  12. Happy Anniversary to everyone at Cryptic and to the entire community!

I've played a few MMORPG's in the past (going back to the original launch of Ultima Online... wooooooo!), but this is by far the best and it's set the bar for all the games that will be produced in the future.

Since I don't have much time to play I debated long and hard about signing up... but this game truly achieves the "fun even if you only play for an hour once-in-a-while" goal that Statesman laid out. I came to love it so much that I bought my wife a new computer, video card, and game account so we could play together.

You guys have done great work, and continue to do great work. I'll be a resident of Paragon City until the lights go out!

I think folks are missing the point. They're all too fixated on the whole "It doesn't sound like it's a sports article"; "It's too OOG"; "It needs box scores and quotes"; and all that. The thing has one simple job--explain the functions of the Battle Terminals. That's it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sigh... you know, Gilgamesh, you're just a victim of your own success. You've done such great "hard news" and "historical reporting" articles in the past that people begin to expect the same stuff out of you time and time again, and they start to feel uneasy when you do something different. I myself like the tone and content of the article. The "sports writer" voice was a great addition to the feel of Paragon City. I wouldn't mind hearing more from "Doc" in the future!
  14. LOL Tpull... I too have been reading your thread with a rabid-fan-like-zeal. Keep it up.

I've thought for a while that Paragon city should focus on those unsung heroes - the street cleaners. Hey, Paragon Times editors - now that you've got your building back, how about a story on Paragon's version of Damage Control (a great comic book from the 80's, btw), dedicated to fixing superhero and villian damage? Definitely add another dimension to the city.

Support on the "wanting to stop every mugger" syndrome as well. I'm only level 21, but I still feel like I have to drop the petty criminals I pass just to do my superhero duty. What the heck... experience or no experience, it makes you feel like you're making a difference.

Plus, taking out a group of level 1's with one AOE makes you feel like a badass. Or, if you prefer, a bully taking candy from babies.... I guess it's in the eye of the beholder.

Keep up the good work, TPull!

    Top Cow and CoH

    [ QUOTE ]
Are they gone for good in April? Or will they make other appearances?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm too lazy to find a link to this thread, but the cover artist for the current comic posted sometime last week that the War Witch / Apex /Horus storyline was going to climax with Issue 12. We're at Issue 10 this month, so we've got a few more books in that storyline before the Top Cow switch.

I myself never minded the comic. Sure, it's not Alan Moore / Neil Gamon-level stuff, but it was fun and gave a sort of literary version of the things we encounter in the game - the tank that goes charging in before everyone's ready, the train ride to the next zone, "Insurmountable odds with no backup? We're In!!!", etc. I'm SURE that the new comic will be high-quality, but credit is due to the team that produce the current title. Whether you like it or not, keeping up with the production schedule is always a feat in and of itself

WIth my old main, a mind controller it was hard getting teams so i would always start teams. Ive been leader about 98 percent of the teams iver ever been on. And i love it, i have a blaster now and i know i can easily solo. But, i just hate it. Its boring to solo, boring to not have anyone to talk to or back you up in a bad situation. So even though i can solo i try not to. I think im in a small percentage of ppl who play CoH.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Maybe not as small a percentage as you think... I'm the same way

It's a "damned if you do, damned if you don't scenario"...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well States, whether you get the timeline right or not, I think the majority of us still appreciate the ammount of communication you and the other Dev's commit to on these forums. It's a real comfort to the playerbase that you listen to us and try let us know when things are "in the pipe."

You can't please all the players all the time... sadly, you'll always be criticised by someone. Still, know that most of us appreciate any little morsel of news that we get from you and the rest of the staff at Cryptic.

I just wanted to add my two cents in that I really like how the Outcasts and Trolls aren't just another generic gang... It adds a lot to the flavor of the game, and that's something I really enjoy.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I completely agree. Don't get rid of their new powers! I think it gives them a great flavour, much more so than they had before.

    [/ QUOTE ]
One more player's voice in favor of keeping the powers and cutting the damage. By the time I reach the hollows I want to take on some super-powered bad guys instead of simple punks with guns; if we can just make the damage consistant with the level of those fighting them, I'll be a happy happy hero.
