Woot! This is gonna rock... One question- How the heck did Coralax get into the Red River, and why? I hope we get background-missions.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well the Red River goes from the bay just outside of Talos Island (a bit NW of the NW corner of the zone) and into the Hollows. This is near to PI and from what I understand the Rogue Isles are N/NW of PI with Mercy Island being the closest to Paragon City (hence why escapees from the Zig are dropped off there). The lower level coralax from the Rogue Isles could easily have swum down to the delta for the Red River and followed the river up into the Hollows area. The rest of the coastline along that area isn't in a zone or is part of Talos Island and the more powerful DE along the coastline would wipe out the coralax that came over. Maybe in time we'll see higher level coralax take over some of the coastline of PI, Striga, or Talos.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's an incredibly well thought out reason. Bravo

I for one welcome our new corally overlords...
  2. I'm with Eis for the most part. The Hollows was the place to go unload on a spawn and see how much you could take. That was really the boiler plate for my early characters, to see how much I could handle. Plus I bloody hate the Vahzilok.

But, all in all, I'm happy with the changes. No more interminable running to a mission door, no more having to wait for a teammate that faceplants three times trying to get there, and has to hosp back to AP every time.

The Legacy Chain and Coralax intrigue me. They'll be an interesting change of pace.

All in all, good stuff. And i love the repeatable content from Meg. KR is nice and all, but it's such a... dirty industrial zone. I prefer the wide open spaces and natural disaster feel of the Hollows.

There are good vibes radiating from this thread.

    Edited for m'Lady's ease.
  4. I didn't get to attend the event, so it was nice to see it all come together.

ChaseArcanum, another fine piece of work! I loved the PNN news ticker, especially ('Warwolves protest spay program', hehehe, classic).

The wedding dialogue was as corny as I'd imagined, but hey, it's a super hero wedding
  5. <QR>

I only made it about 8 pages into this absurd thread.

It seems a lot of people are up in arms about the payment portion of this new Wedding Pack.

You don't want to pay ten bucks for some very highly detailed and obviously laboriously crafted costume pieces?

    Don't.

I've already bought mine, because they are very nice looking. People will always be willing to pay for things that are well made and aesthetically pleasing. Sexy Jay scored big on this one, the veil issues notwithstanding. The emotes are gravy.

Lighthouse has already said that this is not a precedent for all future costume pieces and emotes, but I'll go even further back than that. This has already been set as a precedent. The GvE pack was the same way. I got a whole mess of HeroClix in my DVD copy of CoV. People will always pay more for cool stuff. People that want every single shred of the cool stuff handed to them, free of charge, are dreaming.

This game has given me so much cool play time, ten bucks is a pittance to give for some more of their hard work.

Thanks NC^2. Keep the cool stuff rolling.

I wish he'd answered the concern some of us have about the impact on prestige earning, with people reaching the influence penalty earlier.

    [/ QUOTE ]

In Issue 12 (no release date yet, sorry), we are going to have you never dropping below 50% Inf. earn rate when in Supergroup mode. We will look at the impact of that change and base future alterations on that.

Lighthouse is only warning us of the possibility. With the server upgrade, they just don't know what it's going to be like.

So Kin lent a hand, and Granite was in time freed, though he was left with great slabs of the cave wall stuck about him. He claimed to his siblings, perhaps out of embarrassment, to like the protection they provided. His Children continue the custom to this very day. Of all the Children of Statesman, they are also the most likely to show gratitude to the Children of Kin.

  10. I was, uh, just about to post in the Tanker forums asking if anyone had this info for a post I'm working on.

    Damn you're good EG
  11. I just randomly stumbled in here.

    Holy Hero Hotness, Batman.

That's an incredible spread. If I hadn't been forewarned, I would have just assumed it was from some uber slick comic art collection.

    Well done!

Blaster spoke to his children saying, "My children, I must leave you now and cross over the ocean. I leave you with this: So that you know that my spirit is always with you, when your strength wanes and you stand on your last footing I will lend you my strength so that you may strike down your foes with your last breath." A grandchild of Blaster stood forth and spoke, "But Great Father, you will only lend us your aid when we are near death?" Blaster laughed long and deep and answered, "My child, if you are truly a child of mine, you will find yourself there often!"

    [/ QUOTE ]

But, but... now what does Blaster say about his gift?

    [ QUOTE ]
Why do I give so little? What little I give, is what little you need. I need not give much for you are MY children and you are strong!"

Defender no longer walks these streets, my brothers and sisters, but her spirit is with us. She may not need to lend us her aid often, but why should she need to. We are the Children of Defender and we are strong.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I am man enough to admit that part always chokes me up.
  13. By Odin's beard, it's good to see this thread back.

Thank you Jock, for returning the Defender forum to it's rightfully glorified place.

And thank you Ex, for saving us from ourselves

I thought Taser's range was increased to 40 feet or so?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I can't find the hard numbers, but I know it was increased to at least 20 ft at some point. I had it for a bit and distinctly remember not having to be right up on the guy to use it. City of Data still shows 5 ft, though.

The only way this power can actually deal any real damage is if you toss down Caltrops (or stun/hold/whatever the target) in the burning area to keep your enemies in that spot. It is fire damage, so again it’s more unresisted, but I’d pass up the power in favor of something that’s a bit more reliable, if you will. As the description says, it’s great for blocking doorways and small passages, and that really is about it

    [/ QUOTE ]

I like 98% of the guide but I think Ignite deserves a bit more love.

I use Ignite for a LOT more than just blocking doorways! Ignite does simply ludicrous levels of damage for anything you can immobilize... and since /Dev is forced to take an excellent immobilization power in Web Grenade you're good to go.

Ignite does base 278 damage to anything immobilized. Meaning Web Grenade + Ignite does 3 times the damage that Slug does and Ignite recharges every three seconds! It's damage over time, but it's excellent damage and fire damage.

Ignite is a huge, huge source of single target damage against anything that doesn't run (AVs, for example, and Rikti Drones) and anything you can immobilize. It's a great power to bind to a mouse key to use more easily.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Very much agree.

I've found that the /Munitions Cryo Ray+Ignite = pure win. Enemy can't fire back, he's on fire, and I can almost get two Ignite patches under him before the hold breaks. Stack some web grenades on for -recharge, and it's just beautiful.

You may want to note in your discussion of Burst (and Slug) that with the new Defiance, it can be used while mezzed. This is a strong reason to take both of the first two primary attacks for a Blaster, IMO.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Beat me to it. All in all, very nice guide.
I see we even have a similar maniacal sense of humor when it comes to Trip Mines, LRM, etc

    Congratulations, you've been stickied!

This thread and the FF thread. This is a serious setback to my program of taking over the top of the Defender forum. I'm going to have to work harder at being useful and entertaining!

    [ QUOTE ]
I've checked in on Animal Attack Files for years. From watching that I'd say Pit Bulls account for about 50% of all dog attacks and are much more likely to end in serious injury.

YEP. I just did a quick search for some statistics. It is HIGH.

    http://www.dogbitelaw.com/PAGES/statistics.html

pit bulls, Rottweilers, Presa Canarios and their mixes are responsible for 74% of attacks that were included in the study, 68% of the attacks upon children, 82% of the attacks upon adults, 65% of the deaths, and 68% of the maimings. In more than two-thirds of the cases included in the study, the life-threatening or fatal attack was apparently the first known dangerous behavior by the animal in question.

If almost any other dog has a bad moment, someone may get bitten, but will not be maimed for life or killed, and the actuarial risk is accordingly reasonable. If a pit bull terrier or a Rottweiler has a bad moment, often someone is maimed or killed--and that has now created off-the-chart actuarial risk, for which the dogs as well as their victims are paying the price.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And this was such an upbeat thread.
