...Dual Pistols with Shields in MA to create unique characters?
I'd like to create some new unique characters and this combo came to me. Ideally, I'd prefer a Single Pistol powerset to combine it with....
Thanks in advance! -
In MA, to have the player have a device which transforms one adversary into a custom NPC?
I've got a mission arc in mind which involves the Tuatha de Danaan. Part of it involves being given a magic item which transforms opponents into non-aggressive NPCs (custom ones, I hope) who thank the player for releasing them from evil enchantment before running off. I'm thinking of the in-game mission where heroes use a device for curing 20 members of The Lost and making them human again.
Is something like this possible within the MA?
Thanks in advance! -
It's more a personal preference thing at this point. I prefer DAZ Studio for my work. I have a set of plug-ins I'm most comfortable with that I use all the time and I'm happy as a clam. I also like that the file sizes DS saves at are significantly smaller than Poser files; this is nice as I tend to make lots and lots of characters and this allows me to work without gobbling up my hard drive space.

I hope this is for real and not just some weird ploy to increase interest. What with CO dropping new info every week for updates and such, it's kinda depressing at times to stop here and see nothing new posted on the main page of the website.
-
Just checkin' to see if we're representing @ E3...
I mean, with those other guys breathin' down our necks, it'd be nice to remind people that we're here.
At NYCC, CO had Defender there, posing for pictures. Is Statesman at E3, taunting Defender over his white tights? -
Ooooo. Finally. Some guidelines. Let me think harder on these and how I've seen them implemented in other games and I'll get back to you.
As to why limiting them to Praetoria?
So far, all I've read are rumors that new powersets might include Dual Pistols and Demon Summoning. That's only two rumored powersets for a major game expansion. When City of Villains first came out, there were 5 new Archetypes and a bunch of new powersets. Now, mind you, the above DP and DS are rumored. Who knows what the Devs have in mind? They play a lot of poker and keep their cards well-hidden. They have to now with DCUO and CO coming up on them.
So, why not really make this a major expansion? Really offer powersets that people have been asking for? I mean, CO is offering eye candy all the time about what will be included in their powersets. Why not make a big introduction of something really new to CO*? That's what I meant by my OP.
I'll make up some things for powerset ideas, but that'll come in a bit. But just 'cause I make them up doesn't make any difference anyway. It'll just be a CO* power fanfic. -
I'm not trying to suggest something easy to implement. I'm trying to suggest something I want to see and play!
Sometimes I think the Suggestion Forum settles into a kind of complacency. Too often I read about suggestions and a bunch of replies are "I don't think we'll be getting that" posts. I'm not trying to prognosticate about the future by guessing what the Devs have in mind or reshuffle toys we already have to see them in new ways. I want to see completely new toys added to CO*. Not just playsets (like the GR Praetorian Earth playset) but new action figures to play with.
I dunno. Sometimes I feel like I should take my toys and play elsewhere... -
Is Captain Dynamic an official CO* character?
It'd be great if he appeared in-game. He could be intentionally used for comic relief, kind of like a cross between Ambush Bug and Uncle Marvel (from the old Fawcett/DC Captain Marvel stories, you young whippersnappers!). -
Yes, yes. We know about the "Going Rogue" expansion: "Heroes will die! The world will be changed! Nothing will be the same!"
Oh wait. That was the hype for the latest Big 2 crossover event. My bad!
What I'd like to suggest has to do with powersets that have been suggested here on the forums but which have never been implemented. In this case, I'll use shapeshifting and MM animals. I'd like to suggest that they could be introduced in GR, but make them a significant part of the Praetorian universe so that they add to the Praetorian world's backstory.
Example 1 - Shapeshifting:
Shapeshifting could be introduced as a the powers of a specific being on Praetorian Earth which your character can transform into, much like you can do with Kheldians on Paragon Earth. They could either be a new race (again, like the Kheldians) or the result of evil experiments performed by the Praetorians. Since it's been stated that Shapeshifting would require new character models built and so forth, this could be a cool way of introducing them and help make the GR expansion that much more unique.
Example 2 - MM Animals:
If the Praetorians are into subjugation and control and mastery, then they'd probably apply this philosophy to animals and to enhanced animals. So, the explanation for something totally unique to Praetorian Earth is that they're the only ones evil enough to do it!The Praetorians use enhanced animals that wear armor and are larger than their normal kin for terrorizing the civilians and for looking badder than they already are.
I'm not going to go into details into what would be included in the powersets or what animals would be created. I just wanted to show that the Praetorian Earth background would be a great way to introduce new powersets that people have been asking for here in the forums. -
I just use them for display too. Or to have imaginary match-ups with characters from different sets. One of my favorite match-ups is to have the heroes go up against some of my WOW minis. Somehow, setting up Statesman to go up against a couple of giant axe-wielding Draenei is very compelling.
I also use some of my kids' discarded toys and then mix and match with some of my other minis. It's kinda neat to have hero mini Masterminds that control Digimon; since they're not in-game I make them happen on my desktop!
Still, it woulda been nice to have an official Tyrant set, or maybe a nice 5th Column set that included a Reichmann figurine. I'd have Statesman and Captain America team up to kick some fascist butt! -
...is that when it comes out, there won't be any accompanying HeroClix figures.
One of the reasons I picked up the Collector's Edition of COV was to get the cool HeroClix figures. Now that WizKids Games is gone, my Statesman figure will have to fight a never-ending battle against DC and Marvel villains, but no Tyrant or other Praetorian characters.
Will anyone else miss their HeroClix inserts? Am I the only one? -

#1: Are those Vyper Spy droids next to Sands?
#2: I actually like that look for Fussionette. She looks younger then her game model portrays. Makes me think that it's not actually stupidity, but Enthusiam combined with In-expierence.
In both cases, superb work.

1) You called it! That's why they were hidden in the shadows a bit.It also came from a sense that Arachnos' troops seem to channel a bit of the Evil Empire, so that was my little in-joke to show that.
2) Fusionette always struck me as being a bit younger than some of the other heroes, but it's kinda tough to always show that with some of the in-game graphics. By using an anime look, I thought it'd make her look younger and maybe explain why she rushes off into danger and gets in over her head.
Thanks for the kind words. -
Here's another character that should be familiar to everyone: Fusionette.
I too a few liberties with her costume. Let me know what you think! -
Thanks! He's one of those villains I hate to love. The Devs did a nice job on him.

Powers I want:
Shrinking (Defense Set)
Duplication (Master Mind Set)
Insect Control (Controller/Dom Set)
Water Blast (Blaster Set)
Possession! (Controller Set)

"Insect Control" like "Giant Insect Control" or "Swarm of Insects Control"?
Personally I'd like to see both.

I had a couple of ideas after playing some MA missions...
1) Mirror Image - Self
Make illusionary duplicates of yourself! Early levels are made to confuse opponents so you can divide and conquer them easier. Later levels duplicate some of your other powers but at reduced power.
2) Mirror Image - Others
Maybe as a powerset this could be mixed in with the above one, but you make illusionary duplicates of your opponents and use them as your army! Characters like DC's Mirror Master and Marvel's Arcade used to do this and would add the added twist of making them look like funhouse mirror versions of the duplicated character. That would be a lot of fun to see, but would probably be translated into seeing the size scales of the duplicated character being slid up and down.
3) Super Animal Summoning
Rather than summoning regular animals like dogs, cats, tigers, wolves, etc., summon enhanced versions of these creatures that sport armor and such. Like summoning BattleCat (from He-Man) rather than a normal tiger, or an armored raptor instead of the regular kind. Why? To avoid calls that players are harming animals (even if they are game-generated). -

Elasticity would be awesome, but animation would probably be a nightmare for the Devs.
[/ QUOTE ]
Maybe not a nightmare. It'd require lots of planning and testing tho'. Speaking as someone who went to one of those animation and gaming schools, this would've been a very enjoyable challenge. -
That's true. I guess I'm thinking back to the PnP games, and remembering how books like the Monster Manuals and such offered content but left it up to the players to provide the context. There were plenty of supplements which offered new maps, buildings, classes, monsters, magical items, dimensions and so forth, but it was left open as to how and when you'd use them.
Just wondering if the Devs will be exploring that option... -
With the release of MA, a big door's been opened for creating new missions and content that weren't available before. It's just made me wonder whether there might come a time when the Devs release an Issue that only features things for MA but which doesn't advance the CO* Universe (or CO*U, for short) storyline at all.
For example, right now there are rumors that Issue 15 will feature the 5th Column in some way. I'm guess, but this sounds like it might introduce new story arcs and so advance the stories of the characters in the CO*U. Some of the new stuff might find its way into MA by way of new maps, new contacts, and so forth.
But might there come a time when an Issue is released that release doesn't advance the CO*U and is mostly new maps, or new costume pieces, or something like that? For example, I know I'd like to see new iced-over building maps, similar to the Frostfire map, but which cover buildings outside. Or perhaps a new map which has a city zone or two aflame or covered in lava.
Now, these could be incorporated into new storylines and published as they always have been, but might there come a time when the Devs say: "These maps/ideas/whatever were just too cool to sit and wait so we have a new issue filled with new maps/ideas/whatever. Go play!"
Just wondering... Any thoughts? -
Same here. I was all psyched to create some low-level Arachnos agent missions to send some heroes up against and only got helmets. Perhaps it's tied in with how the VEAT and Peacebringer powersets aren't available either. If so, maybe the full costume sets will be available when the powersets go online too.

Maybe it would require a second .EXE file, but it'd be worth it.
