    Going Rogue

Me, depends on the character. Slimy Sam (my dark/dark scrapper) will likely stay good. He's a hero from the 50's who the Circle of Thorns accidentally resurrected with a ritual. For Madam Enigma though? Well she's just barely a hero in my mind, so I'll make choices based on her personalty and let the chips fall where they will.
  2. O.o I forgot to log in with my main account instead of trial one... FaerieKnight79 is an alt account I set up.

Well, you could always write a story arc that begins like it's taking place in the virtual reality, and then the villain comes along and tampers with it or something. I'm sure there are ways to get around this conceptual issue.

    [/ QUOTE ]
But that means your mission can never become canon: it will never move out of the virtual world into the real one because its concept depends on beginning in virtual space.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not true I bet. The 'cannon' could become that it gets altered by some villain, thus making it real. So the canon would be that the VR troopers mission became real. Otherwise even the villain monkeying with it was VR.

because I for one, do not find resetting a single mission 100 times to get Weatherman anywhere NEAR enjoyable.

O.o On my heroic main I got that badge by hunting in the hollows. It was fun, and I did so on the way to missions. Or more precisely on the way to attempt to get to one mission because I didn't realize a simple fact... that enemies would respawn quickly during the turf war. For my other characters with the badge, they got it easily enough too without resetting the same mission over and over. It's called hunting in the zones.
  5. I'm working on a set of storylines involving my main's ninja orgianization, The Poisoned Fist ninja clan. One thing I'd like to do is a set of storylines for heroes, and a set of storylines for villains. Each with different reasons for encountering said group. I'd like to do this for a bunch of level ranges. Let's say a pair (hero/villain) for low levels, a pair for mid levels, and a pair for high levels where they actually encounter the leader of the Poisoned Fist, Poison Bloom herself. Maybe several encounters, ending with an AV fight against her. She has after all proven her capabilities by dropping multiple members of the Freedom Phalanx and the group the Vindicators, as well as taking out Lord Recluse himself. If she's done that, she by all rights SHOULD be an AV in the final encounter. That's my thought anyway.
  6. I'm excited about this! I'm already drawing up ideas for some missions to create with my villain main, Poison Bloom. Missions to share her evilness with both villains, and heroes who might wish to thwart some of her plans in Paragon.

Followup #2: Possibly a coincidence, possibly not. I went into CCC (using a Radeon HD4870 video card with Cat 9.1 drivers) and changed the Catalyst A.I. setting from Advanced to Standard, and have access to all my characters again.

Tried this myself, it seems to work so far. Just managed to log into a character that was crashing upon login before.
  8. More information about character crashing:

Hero side all characters crash upon login during the load screan

Villain side, characters are initially playable. I can log into them just fine if I hadn't logged in since the valentines day patch. It's only after I try entering a mission or a different zone that they start to crash.
  9. ATI issue possible huh? have to check those options...

Anyway it seems it's not just villains that crash on me. Hero side I tried logging into a scrapper named Vice of Justice.

    Server: Protector
    Character Name: Vice of Justice
    SG/VG name: Don't have a SG
When do you crash: Upon trying to log into the character
Does affect all your characters: So far every villain is unable to log in

    Server: Protector
    Character Name: Madam Enigma
    SG/VG Name: Enigma Files
When do you crash: upon trying to log into character
Does it Affect all character: yes
Does it affect only characters in one or more SG/VGs: no

PLEASE fix this! I can't play the game because all my characters now crash upon logging in. I am not gonna renew if this isn't fixed when my renew date comes up. Why pay for a game I can't play? Seriously, this is annoying. The valentines day patch seems to have broken the game in the worst way I can imagine.
  10. Server: Guardian
Character Name: Arachnid Huntress, Future Imperfect

    SG/VG Name: none

When do you crash: when trying to zone or log into a character who'd previously crashed

Does it affect all characters: no, so far just those in Mercy and Port Oaks

Does it affect only characters in one or more SG's or VG's: Neither character so far are in a VG.

more if I encounter more bugged characters.

Edit: Add Poison Bloom's Pet to the list, also on guardian server. Level 19, in a VG. Seems that trying to zone into a mission or pocket D is the trigger.
  11. Ok, getting ready to farm flashbacks for merits so I can finally test out various builds using IO's. Once that is finished I'll update at last.

Um sure. I LOVE THE IDEA. Love that your implementing it. I am an avid comic reader. However, I wish you could give us the option one or the other (or for those with awesome pc's both). When you get 2 groups fighting a GM or worse yet, groups of MM's fighting Rikti, you already cant see anything. This just makes it worse. Still, LOVE the idea and please add it, just wish I had the choice before beginning play (or change in settings).

Wow, that's funny. Heh, the DDO devs had me going. My first reaction was "wtf is that" when I started the launcher. Read the update thing on the website and thought "cool idea, but I hate it"... Then went to respond in the forums and got rickrolled 3 times. That's when it hit me it's a joke. The CoX one, I realized almost imediatly it's a joke... Well... Actually it wasn't until I read the part about removing sounds that I realized it's a joke.

Dear gods I hope it's a joke anyway. The devs did give GMs and AVs that massive regen buff before... And ED... And the global defense nerf... Erm, I wouldn't put this past them.

Thanks i guess. And i play like 1 month, so lol just sign in the forum right now. Anyway im laughing here ....almost lol.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Don't feel bad. I realized this one's a joke.... but this got me hook line and sinker. I was about to rant in the forums about it... till I read a few of the posts. But if that's not bad enough... check out the links on this page. notice that the first post is by one of the devs. Then click the three links on the dev post. This one was tame.
  15. LBE was a RP choice actually. The character is based on a old heroes unlimited character of mine. Was a scientific experiment who had armor like skin, hyper agility, skilled with a katana, and could fire energy from her eyes. However, I didn't like the feel of katana in CoH. I personally like 1 acc, and find focused accuracy helps out with things 1 acc isn't enough for. Since I treat follow up as an attack, weather it hits or not isn't so important to devote more acc.
  16. That's what I'm still working on. I've as yet got a few common IO's slotted, but only a single set IO.... And that's a chance for hold in focus. Wouldn't mind some help testing this. I'm not made of inf after all. I ran in super group mode too long.
  17. Thinking of doing a update for issue nine and inventions. Anyone care to help out, or do I need to test this myself?

    Guide to Guides

    Poison Bloom's Guide to Claws/SR

A guide I wrote back in issue seven or so. Still pretty accurate, but may need updating for I9 and inventions.
  19. Too bad you can't make a TA/DM TA/Kin (or vice versa)
  20. [ QUOTE ]
Quite simply, empaths burn their endurance (and usually their health) to keep team members alive. As a result, they must gauge who gets how much healing, and when -- all according to available endurance. If in the first 20-30 seconds of fighting the incoming fire is heavy, an empath may well use ALL of his/her endurance to keep the team alive. This will result in a period where little to no healing is possible by the empath. As noted above, team members need to pay attention to the empath's endurance and pace themselves accordingly. A good empath will alert a team when s/he is not capable of healing, but it is a tremendous help if the group pays attention, as well.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Vigilence would ensure that during those 30 seconds the empath who's struggling to keep up has a full endurance bar. Think on that.

    [ QUOTE ]
Someone dies a lot despite the presence of an empath. This is usually the result of the 2 previously-mentioned issues being repeated over and over and the empath simply making a judgement call not to waste healing/endurance on said someone anymore, as it takes away from what the empath can do for others who are more group-oriented and less self-centered. (The basic premise being the empath is choosing to let said someone learn the hard way after all other options have failed.)

    [/ QUOTE ]

A spines/dark scrapper can easily get enough agro in the space of 1 attack to die from 20 enemies turning and firing at once. Same for a warshade who's leveraging the mires and aoes or a TA/A who's usng oil slick. If such a character is dying a lot, maybe what's needed is the empath using fortitude on the person dying a lot and not the scrapper, TA/A defender, or warshade stopping their most effective tactics.

    [ QUOTE ]
The distinction is subtle but important. Healing is an empath's focus; if you ask for one you're more likely to get someone who has as many enhancements as s/he can possibly slot into healing powers as is possible for his/her level ... as opposed to someone with 1 or 2 healing powers that are enhancement-neglected. This means stronger healing abilities when compared to garden-variety "healers".

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ok, your saying that dark, kin, and rad are healers? How about storm? What people in game call a healer is a empath who does nothing but heal, and rarely if ever buffs, while refusing to take a single attack. Call my dark/rad a healer again and I'll sick fluffy on ya.
  21. [ QUOTE ]

Swipe isnt as bad as everyone says, but it is the worst attack in the claws primary. Yes it will fill the gap you have in your attacks, but thats only because the animation lasts about a month. Even you admit you should respec out of it at later levels while retaining strike. And if you are claws/reg, you should not be having endurance problems, so dpe is not very important.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Are you aware that swipe is no longer a painfully long animation? Swipe is now a quick one/two attack with the same total damage as before. Strike is a quick gut stab. Also, strike is now a quick cross slash. In all, I think all three now have a animation time of one second or less.
  22. I think you'll find that by using Swipe instead of Spin as a standard attack chain power there's fewer end issues with claws. Really, focus and evic are one of the biggest drains on my endurance. Also using spin when your not going to be hitting a bunch of foes is well, to me counterproductive. Your paying more endurance then Strike for an attack which does the same damage. It's redeeming factor is it can hit many foes. If your only hitting two however, it's not worth paying twice the end to me. It's not in my current build, but I wish it was during AV fights or when surrounded by 30 foes. Those are situations I face a lot more now.

Now granted, once I got focus, swipe started getting used less before (long animation originally). Now however I find it's a good filler attack. I'm a fan of taking all one's primary powers. Even so I say skip taunt unless you think it's useful. I didn't. Swipe is shippable if you want, but I like it. I'd also recomend it since it's a dirt cheap attack. If your sucking wind badly, swipe>slash is a good solid repeatable attack chain which gives you infinite endurance while using. How do I know this? Because originally those were my only two attacks until level 30, at which point I got spin. That was an attack chain which almost allowed me to solo Doc Vahz as an AV. I clawed my way through Striga with it. Tore through Positron TF using that attack chain. Originally I got distracted by pool powers and kept delaying attacks. I originally took agile before focused senses, and regretted it. I was getting shredded by ranged attacks with just agile for ranged defense, and that's back in issue 4, before GDN.
  23. Once again, thank you. My current build has boxing and tough but not spin and hurdle. You have some very good points about which powers are skippable. I totaly agree that swipe and spin aren't needed. FA is rarely turned on and just in the build for PvP. I understand the fourth tier body mastery power is decent for juggling as well, but I didn't take if for concept reasons. Arial Superiority would also be a good choice for juggling tactics.
  24. Thanks, I figured it was about time I gave back to the community.
