Quote:Not really sure why you keep referring only to situations where you are solo outdoors trying to farm like you never team with Doms and trollers and everything always goes flying no matter what you do. That to me does not do this discussion justice. There are many ways and this is totally style based to reduce/mitigate the PBAOE KB in the set YMMV. It is clear you are not into the style ok I get it, but it still is effective for others.
The one thing in talking to the devs about this very topic they get what I am saying and their choices for changes reflect this.
Please would you show me where I have even once stated farms or fighting outdoors? I have not, you are the only one that brings it up. Scatter is a problem everywhere. Thin hallways? The get flung two major directions and only really long cones can bring them back. Open area is hopeless, they get flung to the four winds and nothing will bring them back.
The only time when it would possibly actually increase kill time is in those tiny office rooms.
For the record, I do not farm anyhow. -
I've got it six slotted in Suppression, and it seems amazing. On even con mobs I regularly fear entire groups... definitely seems much higher than the stated chance, or else it is proccing every time suppression 'hits'.
-
The thing with Energy is that it is much easier to control- the only PBAoE KB is a nuke. Then it has mostly ST, also a Cone and a TAoE. Very easy to position with these moves.
And yes, KB does keep them from firing at you, but it does this for maybe 4 seconds. Then they get back up and are now so spread that you cannot hope to hit them all, short of Dawn Strike. This results in the fight lasting much longer (more than 4 seconds longer) and you actually taking more total damage than if you hadn't use the move at all. -
You know, I was actually designing a Grav/NRG Dom to work that way. Named him Knockback Man. It is very effective if you only plan to -solo-, but with a name like that people tended to not invite :P
-
I think he meant soloing in general gives three times less xp than teaming, which is probably true for blasters.
-
Well then, this wouldn't be upgrading, so much as adding an entirely new thing in that perspective. By that reasoning, which is completely reasonable, I reason that adding pets to the move would make it some sort of reasonable combination of UE and EE, thus taking nothing from PBs and giving them some nice shiny pets.
I find this utterly reasonable. And yes, I'm being serious. Just get a little silly when it gets late. -
-
Great, now I can think of nothing but continuous Nova.
-
Quote:I referred purely to KB as that was what you were referring to. You cannot use PS's knockback effectively, they must be right on top of a mob a explode. And they move. Not to say the move cannot be effective, but the knockback can't.I disagree that hitting targets with a mini nuke is ineffective. I don't know your slotting but mine kills most minions and does significant damage to those above them, which of course is what I consider effective.
I suspect you are talking solely about the directional aspect of things which I feel is shortsighted in this equation.
Solar Flare doesn't do enough damage to justify the scatter; Dawn Strike does. I don't see how you can onehit minions with it. At level 50 it has a base 67.12 damage, minions have something like 430 health. Even slotted with max damage and muscular alpha it comes nowhere close. Dawn Strike, on the other hand, has a base 216.88, and it is completely plausible to onehit minions with that. Also, Dawn Strike actually has a lower chance of knockback (75% vs 80%).
You sure you aren't confusing one with the other? -
Quote:When it comes from a pet, it cannot be used effectively, period. They WILL use it in ways you don't want. Even Masterminds can't control this.KB in any power can absolutely be used effectively SF and PS are no exception. It is not a powerset problem it is a personal preference problem.
Solar Flare also can hardly be used for positioning. Its a PBAoE heavy knockback move. Unless you have a convenient corner ready every time you want to use it, scatter will occur. -
I think the point is... you could put anything in the place of MMs there and it would be just as ludicrous. As far as population of ATs, it seems fairly even actually. Of course the 'free' ATs will always have the highest pop, as will Blasters and Scrappers due to being so obviously Superhero based. Blasters and Scrappers are the most common comic book heroes, and as such they appear most in this game.
-
Quote:Yes, except many, many people play them purely due to them NOT having something unique. Hell, you could say they are unique for being normal. They have no fluff. They are what they are, nothing more and nothing less. They Scrap, and they are good at it.They are fine. What they lack is anything that in uniquely theirs. That is what EG states, and what I have been trying to get across also. Scrappers don't even have a power set that they don't share with the other melee ATs.
He also points out in another thread that all but 3 of the stalker primaries have AoEs or Cone attacks.
Everyone keeps saying it is no big deal that stalkers and scrappers share crits. How would all you pro stalker folks feel about scrappers getting Energy Melee and Ninjitsu?
Also, I wouldn't care. I would probably make a new Scrapper with staff/nin.
Prolly not gonna happen, Ninjitsu revolves quite a bit around Stalkers. -
Unless I feel like letting the Essences die to absorb alpha, they don't. I run on 2x8 most of the time, and still keep them from dying. Normally all three are up at a time, and far outclass Photon Seekers. As well as what has bee previously mentioned- Seekers cause scatter, Essences do not.

Quote:Not to mention that some of the biggest offenders are ROBOTS. You know, the things you can program to do whatever the hell you want."I will explain to my Legions of Terror that guns are ranged weapons and swords are not. Anyone who attempts to throw a sword at the hero or club him with a gun will be summarily executed."
If, as a boss, I couldn't convince my gun-toting henchmen to stay at range and shoot, I wouldn't keep using them. I would get rid of them and get smarter henchmen.
Also, MMs have a weakness. Their entire offense and 90% of their defense is their henchmen. No henchmen, one very vulnerable MM unless you've built for that possibility. -
I said Water Blast! But fine, Water Manip too.
As for the Blast, the nuke will be a Tidal Wave that 'washes away' all the buffs the victims have. Oh, and they lie on the ground sputtering for a while.
Then a fish falls on them. -
That too. Though, with all the KB flying around with a PB, much of it being PBAoE, a bit more can't hurt all that much. Yes, it would be uncontrolled, but you'd be hard pressed to not scatter mobs anyhow.

Also worth noting that even if the target is not actually held by the power (boss and up), Impact still works. I believe, been a while since I played my Grav/NRG dom. (Hes named Knockback Man
)

Quote:Water is something I am still looking for :] water armor, so I can make a fish that has a Trident. So far the best substitute I've seen is Dark, but that is still not water.Hmm, is it perception, or is it reality. It does seem as though there has been a mix of powers coming out recently. Having said that, it seems as though it has been melee heavy. Would like to see a continued mix. I think they have done a good job so far. F2P seems to be "inspiring" them. Having said that, I have a feeling some types of powers we'll never get. Growth, shrinking, stretching, grappling, water, are some that come to mind.
Also of course Water Blast and Water Control. -
Quote:You're missing the point. Yes, Scrappers DO outdamage Blasters, that is the problem. They should not, Blasters are currently supposed to be the Damage Kings and they aren't even close. Note that this is even before you take into account all the time they spend dead.I am a bit bemused because this is "2006" possibly before that stuff. I can't even dig up Statemans statements in 2005 or 2006. I think it was Statesman stated it, people scoffed at it, as they did with anything he said, particularly about Tanker. I put it all on excel, and supported Statesmans statement. Some people tried to compare attack chains and then gave up when they soon realised. My patience is a little bit thin when it comes to all these "hashed out before" stuff.
I am currently busy with what little free time I have testing Warshades and Peacebringers atm.
Anyone is welcome to prove that in theory they can do more total damage to the end bar versus a theoretical 16 rikti dummies with the average blasters than they could with the average scrapper. I dare say with the arrival of Mental Manipulation that things have moved on in Blasters favour but likewise Scrappers have had new sets too.
Ingame in teams Blasters get buffed, they can be superb but that isn't raw dps. The Blaster has the advantage of AoE size so ingame in teams in particular Blasters can more likely hurt more targets. All things need to be considered though. What's better to go through a solo farm with? Which would be quicker a SO'd Scrapper or SO'd Blaster? Scrapper, it will lead in raw dps, it will lead by survivability, and produce more aoes to the end bar slotted right. It's not even worth putting it on excel.
I said Raw DPS which should never be mixed up with DPS.
Now, in the other thread about Blasters Arcana made a very nice case about how 'Damage King' Should be replaced with 'Offensive King', and make Blasters useful again.
Scrappers should in no way lead over Blasters in raw DPS. At least, not in the current form of Blasters. Blasters give up everything (Mental aside, it is a special case) for damage, and aren't even top. Scrappers have more damage -and- more survivability. -
Sounds good. I wouldn't worry too much if they turn out better than the Essences, due to Warshades having such a large advantage right now. I doubt any (reasonable) person would complain if Peacebringers had the superior pets.
-
Quote:I disagree, I very much had trouble solo, and may have complained once or twice.
I cannot state that for a fact because what data am I going to use to say it? I can't. I can only say this: there were Stalkers playing before the buff, *NONE* complained about solo and many said that was the AT's strength.
Reppu never mentioned farms, merely 'xp per hour'. Stalkers got horrible xp, due to having to stealth their missions and only kill a few things. Horrible, at least, compared to the other melee ATs, which is what she was comparing them to. 'Hit and Run' may be a legitimate means of soloing, but it is not an efficient means. Compared to the ability to stick to your guns and fight it out, which the other Melees could do with ease.
Stalkers were bad solo and they were bad in teams. Unless there is some sort of limbo state, I think it is fair to say they needed a buff.
And no, I don't consider a higher crit rate that only applies when you have a group hug as 'more AoE'. -
-
If you're gonna sleep them, I think you should be able to pull Romi away from the nictus while they are asleep. This works on the FP in the LRSF.
-
No no no, I did NOT say it had better damage than Nin, I did not say that at all. I said it was overall slightly stronger due to being much more survivable. And when I say much, I mean MUCH. 25% res to s/l/c, 10% def to all positions, and a level 18 power that can increase their def 15% and regen 400%. As well, all but two (the normal howlers) get a self heal. The Lions get a good def buff.
So yes, offensively they need work, defensively they are perfectly fine.
And whoever said "it makes StJ look good" made me discount everything they said previously even more. Street Justice is an awesome set.
So it has the least damage but is one of the more survivable.
