My main is a Ninja/Time/Mace, and it is truly epic. Whenever new high level content is released, he is the first to test the waters. He is also my big game hunter, and has slain every GM he could find.
Mace is almost mandatory for Time. Scorpion Shield gets you almost to the soft capwith Power Boosted Farsight. The pets are all at or near the soft cap. They'll still get killed by a stiff breeze, but that breeze will have a rather hard time hitting them.
Also, what's not to like about time traveling ninjas? -
With a Warshade's self buffs saturated, he is much stronger than a Peacebringer.
When a Peacebringer is fighting a single hard target without a body in sight, he is much stronger than a Warshade.
The playstyles are completely different.
That said, I just recently rolled a Peacebringer and I'm having great fun with him. -
Wow, I wish I was around in those days. Looks like great fun.

Quote:No, because the purpose of MMs is the pets. And the only things that an MM can do that a corruptor can't (for concept) are beast blasting and whip melee.Playing the character and/or concept you want?
I don't see how that defeats the purpose at all.
"But uber DPS/DPA/UPS/CNN! And Capped defresactidurancharge! And blah percentage blah blah blah!"
So what. You want that, build and play your character your way.
So yea, I stand by what I said. And no, it isn't about uber DPS.
And it seems no matter how many times I say it, you're going to skim and not read what I actually said.
I think the reason that people want to do petless MMs so much is because its obvious. -
So you can take out an EB. With IOs.
My MM with pets can take out GMs. Without IOs.
So like I said. A petless MM can be done and it can be done well, but it defeats the purpose of being an MM in the first place. In your case, why not be a DP/Poison corruptor? You'd have more damage, more attacks, better values for /Poison, more health...
There isn't even a conceptual reason, because you'll get all the same attacks.
The only reason I can think of is a personal challenge.
Or whip melee if you go demon summoning. -
Quote:If we ever get whips it'll probably be Assault, due to the 15 foot range on the attacks.Total waste. Masterminds have by FAR the worst damage mod in the game and also the lowest hit points, as far as I'm aware. If you're interested in running a full whip attack character, I'd suggest lobbying for flaming whips to be added as a conventional attack set for... I don't know, really. Does that count as range or melee?
But petless Mastermind is gonna' suck, and I don't mean this as an insult. It just probably won't be a lot of fun. -
Quote:Fulcrum Shift IS an insanely good power, but it isn't overpowered.I think it's very telling that many arguing that fulcrum shift is not an insanely good power are doing it by comparing it to the combined sum of all other damage buffs available in the game.
The fact that it caps you and thus negates other damage buffs is also not an argument against it being insanely good. Quite the opposite. -
But having a mix and match of look and mechanics makes no sense. Do you really want Ice Blasters shoveling out massive amounts of fire damage? Besides that not all blast sets have analogous animations. DP has no snipe, so you couldn't have the mechanics of fire.
Also, something just seems wrong about the whole thing. -
Quote:You're thinking of Mender Silos.I haven't seriously played redside in a long time, and I don't recall if I ever did a TF over there (not counting the Respec, which was a horrible experience).
I can tolerate the occasional Hess, but the last mission leaves me so disgusted with the entire thing that I can't say I really *want* to do it again. I occasionally let myself get wrangled into doing it.
I dislike the Katie TF. I'm not a fan of the Croatoan enemies (as far as fighting them goes) and maps (particularly the outdoor maps), and I really don't like the final fight.
But now that I think about it, there was a TF I did that I found amusing. I don't recall who gave it out, but I believe you fight a whole bunch of Arachnos AVs and a giant spider mech at the end. I liked the mech. If the Hess TF culminated in the giant mech fight that it keeps hinting at, I'd probably like that TF.
And oh yes, if only we could fight the giant mek. -
Mortimer Kal is pretty fun. You get to fight three signature heroes and the missions are all different.
EDIT: Babbage is optional to fight in Synapse. Depending on the team you could skip him. But yea, he is much much stronger than the King himself. But then, a GM would not be possible for some teams. -
Quote:That is a rather... unsavory example. I'd compare it more to a perfectly fit swimmer who just decides he doesn't want to use his legs. He could if he wanted to, but he just doesn't. Oh sure, enough training and he'll swim faster than the average bloke, but he could do so much better.Pretty much this. Can a guy with one arm do karate and fight in the MMA? Possibly but he will always be second to someone that has all his limbs.
A petless MM is essentially like cutting off a limb. Sure you can do things like a "normal" person but you won't ever do them as well.
This is why people frown on it. Its shooting yourself in the foot or voluntarily adding your own kryptonite in the game for "just because." -
Wow, walking into stuff left and right.
And before someone says it, yes, I could probably dodge it with a few more lucks. -
Wow, Atlas used to bear some resemblance to Tokyo.

Citadel is a robot, they have a thing for doing the same thing over and over again.
That said, both this and Synapse are terrible, terrible things. And they hop from zone to zone like someone with a severe case of teleportitus.
Maybe people who mostly play heroes don't notice it much, but blueside mission lines are terrible about going around the entirety of paragon city rather than staying in one place. Compare this to redside which tends to stay in one zone very nicely. -
Petless masterminds CAN be done. Just like an amorless tanker CAN be done. But it defeats the purpose and anything else CAN be done better. It will take a lot of effort and skill to make it viable. If you shove enough money down its throat you can solo x8, like Plainguy. But if you shove an equal amount of money down the throat of something that wasn't gimped from the start you will solo 4x8 much, much faster.
It is as simple as that. It can be done, if you shove enough money into it it can actually be done well. But it is still silly. -

Use insights. Inspirations drop like candy and short of combining for other things, the yellows don't have much use. You can probably have perma insight with a little luck.

Quote:Better than clarity isn't a large compliment.Wow that is news to me. I just checked on City of Data and the power is flagged the way you described. The Energy and Smashing resist components are AOE but the mez protections are not. I assume that is because the devs wanted the Kin player to use the power as a break from a mez as opposed to offering protection. Still it is better than Clarity.

Talesin, there IS a way to get multiple quotes in one message.
No, Kinetics doesn't have a complete lack of mitigation. But the majority is buffing damage and recharge. Those numbers you mentioned are almost worthless compared to other support sets.
Fulcrum shift is fine as is. -
Staff does have great sounds, especially when you hit the target cap.
-
Since you're tri form, try using the Dwarf's taunt every once in a while.

Quote:No, no it would not be great. After some thought (more than when I first posted at least) the kernel of an idea has gathered. Would it not be great if there was a "Generic Blaster Set" "Generic Brute Set" "Generic Scrapper Weapon set" "Generic Scrapper non weapon Set" Etc, you get the idea. The Set would have the most generic Primary Set progression .(Possibly A secondary set too)
