Unpon further thinking, I actually have characters that prefer teammates NOT have ally rez, because of those that do that don't listen to their team. For example, when I tell them not to waste it on me, because I have a self rez. Or the TF I was on recently where no matter how many times I mentioned I had Fallout, the rezzing teammate would still recall friend anyone the very second their hit points hit zero.

Alright, this has been bugging me for a while now, but with all the PvPers that left with I13, is this thread really intent on driving MORE people out of the zones? Because that's the attitude that I keep seeing from the PvP crew in here. -
Here's about the most simple answer I can give you Sam. If you feel the rez is a waste of a power pick, then don't take it. If you're worried about what potential teammates may think of you for not taking it, put together a second build that has it. If you're not interested in spending the inf to keep two builds up, there's always the consideration that teams that require people to have the ally rez are probably not worth the hassle anyway, because these are teams that are planning on dying a lot.

Ah. Yeah, all five missions are set to Random for their tile set, and most of them have big nasty rooms like that. I guess I really need to pick one map for each.

Made fixes to the following:
Quote:I'm still trying to figure out what to do with the 5th Column portion of the story. I've lowered the rankings across the board for now, but I want to see if this makes it too easy for large teams. Incidentally, what was the problem you had with the last mission's map?I hope this feedback makes sense for End of the Line (2088)...
===
In 1st mission
* Where did the strange note come from? found it on the ground?
* Enemies say: "The boss said these should keep him away."... Keep him who away? Requiem? Arakhn (who is a she)?
===
Pre 3rd mission
In 3rd mission
* The defeat clue says he's a Kreiger, but he's an Oberst. Others may not realize it's referring to the same person. - This one is odd, because he's actually set to spawn as a Krieger. I've switched his setting to random. Will keep an eye out to make sure that setting doesn't cause an AV to spawn.
===
In 4th mission
* The objectives just say "Ici Cold, Bounty-Killer"... how about "Save Ici Cold, Meet up with Bounty-Killer.
===
Pre 5th mission
* Missing the hyphen in BKs name in the intro text.
In 5th mission
* Lower Ici's rank, Boss?
* Lower BK's rank, Boss?
* Lower TL's rank, EB?
Post 5th mission
* Warranted is misspelled.
As far as mission 2 goes, lowering B-K below boss while simultaneously increasing his aggressiveness will likely result in a Lady Jaye scenario, and we need him alive at the end of the mission. Will probably do one, though. Also, I'll need a really good reason to take Hide off a Stalker who's only on the map to kill the boss.
Lastly, I'm going to want to talk to the creators of Neely, Ici, and B-K to get better reactions/backgrounds as applicable. I don't want to put something down that is completely out of character for them. -
Actually, I was thinking of the AT logos on them. I brought back a full set of the AT pins from the last one, and handed them out to the folks on my work crew. Actually, most of them really did have habits that fit the pins they received, and I can't count how many times we've been asked about them, just on our work site alone.

I can only speak for myself, but with regards to the T-shirts/Hero-Con issue, I didn't go to teh Con for the shirt. I would much rather have them available for everyone, rather than something 'exclusive' just because I could afford to meet the Devs in person. In my opinion, more people wearing shirts emblazoned with the game's name, the better.

The only problem I have with the idea of gaining the Nukes and Shivans through PvP is that, generally speaking, the people who are actually trying to PvP aren't interested in Shivans or Nukes. Then again, it really does seem like the only PvPer that a PvEer will run into is the kind who is PvPing because the devs took away his ability to drag Giant Monsters to Portal Corp. Not saying that there aren't decent PvPers out there, it's just that it seems like they are off on their own server, only playing against other decent PvPers.
And I never did find out if the ten minute 'no reward' timer got turned off. -
Oddly appropriate that you're the one that got me the list of bios, given that the character missing them is your own. The 5th Columns resurgence is really going to be the big hit to this story, I think. And in the fifth mission, what map were you on? If I remember right, they all were random of whatever tile set was used.
I'll look over the rest of this when I wake up later today. -
Sorry Sooner, shameless plug time.
Quote:Incidentally, there is a continuation, of a sort, available in the AE. It went up on day one of Live for that Issue, and is really showing it's age. However, I have recently begun what will probably be the long process of cleaning it up, so if you're still interested, the title is End of the Line ID 2088.- The Neely/Keely storyline wrapped up with Keely gone and her warshade half - Anjali - the only consciousness in Keely's body. This WAS going to be a subplot in this story but the story was just getting too out of hand. I'll get back to it later, I promise.
For the moment I'll say this: Neely has gone all dark and vengeancy, and Anjali is confused.

I feel like I've missed an opportunity. When AE first came out, I was really interested in the idea of writing arcs for friends to run. Unfortunately, the bad period immediately following the live release put me off dealing with any of it. As a result, the two arcs I did manage to get written have stagnated.
Well, there have been several improvements to the Mission Architect since it's release, and Issue 17 promises even more. However, since it's been months since I've touched the interface, I am badly out of practice and woefully under informed. Thus I come before you asking for suggestions, tips, and any other help the people here are willing to offer.
Both arcs thus far have a four star rating, but a large part of that is because the majority of runs have been by friends. Below, I will put down a lot more detail on the arcs, but if you want to go in cold, the names and IDs are End of the Line (2088) and The Traitor's Test (161722). They are both Neutral arcs originally playable at any level, though the first one is significantly darker morality-wise.
End of the Line
A story of revenge, where the Hero Neely has the opportunity to take revenge on the Villain that killed her sister. This one is marked Neutral because it starts with helping a Hero investigate a mystery, and ends with actually killing the main Villain.
Known issues:- There is a lot of background to this story. Covering it all could result in walls of text, while not covering it could result in people feeling left out of the loop.
- The NPCs are overpowered, and the story feels as if the player is mostly watching another Hero's story.
- When first written, the 5th column were used as a villain group specifically because they did not appear in current day Paragon. With them back I am considering replacing them with another anachronistic group (Cimerorans?)
- Neely, Ici Cold, all versions of Bounty-Killer, Thin Line and Archon Gaff all missing background.
- Need to test new difficulty settings with large group.
- Bounty-Killer in mission 2 either need aggression increased or rank decreased.
The Traitor's Test
This is an attempt by a (former) Arachnos Wolf Spider, who is trying to weaken Recluse's operations by attempting to get a Destined One to turn. The arc is marked Neutral because I attempted to write it as if either Hero or Villain would be interested in weakening Recluse's position in the Isles.
Known issues:- Just a bunch of stuff that happened.
- Potentially Overpowered final boss.
- Unbalanced enemies.
- Overly spread level range.
- Some enemies with generic backgrounds.
I'll add to and edit these lists as I have more things pointed out or fixed.
I have one more point about The Traitor's Test. The main focus of the arc is the group AU Students. There is a specific set up for the group. Minions are unpowered civilians, mainly focusing on tools and tech to fight back. Lieutenants are mildly powered individuals, and Bosses are intended to be full fledged 'Destined One' Villains themselves.
-----
I realize this is a lot to ask the Mission Architect community. I am very much out of the loop when it comes to writing these stories. I am also fully prepared to accept that these arcs may well be unsalvageable. However, to those willing to take the time to help me along, I thank you for your time. -
Quote:Did they take away the rewards timer when they added XP to PvP victories? Because, the last I had heard there was a ten minute period after defeating someone where defeating them again did indeed net them nothing, not even Reputation. And even then, there were people hunting down PvE players many many times within that window.I understand the question, but I don't think it's really addressing what the PVPer *gets* out of it.
If we took away *all* rewards related to defeats (while leaving the defeat at "you lose nothing,") do you really think the answer would be the same as it is in the current in game situation?
Look at the rewards. Yeah, you get a shivan (say,) or a temp power. I get a chance at a recipe that's running at several hundred million INF, an inspiration, further progress on my character (XP) - what's the real incentive for the PVPer NOT to attack? Even if I were "meh" about PVP but had a character I thought did decently, that's an incentive for me to go in and try to defeat others regardless of their purpose in the zone. If anything, it should be an incentive for you to try to attack me *back,* as not only do you get your shivan most likely, but could come away much richer.
It's something that I don't think can be ignored - which the people saying "Just leave them alone" are ignoring (or ignorant OF.) Both sides have a reward to lose. -
Quote:<.<Few months ago, I stood next to an M1 ABRAMS and realized just how friggin huge those damn things are. I gave it a little tug too and it might as well had been Mt. Everest, I couldn't even shake it in the slightest. To think the Hulk rips into them like tin foil, really gives you some perspective.
>.>
Actually the only thing that I can thing of, really isn't even close to an explanation. Back when Back Alley was talking about why the shark model never made it in game as an actual enemy, he mentioned turning off their ability to jump. He said this wouldn't work, because then folks would just hover above them and shoot them at range for risk free XP. Of course, this wouldn't work as an explanation for the Tanks, because they're all about ranged attacks.
(okay, mostly I just posted because of the Abrams comment. I've never met you before in my life Anti-Proton.) -
Quote:Funny, that's the point that Morac was trying to show you. That one person's opinion doesn't get to dictate who the rest of the world thinks. If you want to think the two terms are the same, then that's fine. But no one has to obey you and follow your ideas.Yeah - like to one person, something could be cool - so it's a trope - but to someone else, it' s a cliche.
I really don't think it's possible to totally say for sure when something's been used too much, or just the right amount, as that will be different for each person.
It doesn't matter what side is bad, it's just Empress Golden Girl trying to tell the rest of humanity how to think. Whoever she is, she seems to believe that she has some inborn right that everyone must live exactly the way SHE says. That there can be no opinion other than hers. -

Quote:Surprised this wasn't mentioned yet. No, the mission Ad Astra was talking about wasn't the one from Dr Creed, it's the one from Kalinda. It's one of the first missions given out, and it's over half a mile from the contact. To make matters worse, it's the last mission before she hands out her phone number, and at that point all of her missions are close to Fort Darwin anyway.
Not Doctor Creed's arc! I do this every single time on a new villain, just for the joy of making Infected explode.
Sure I lose XP, but it's totally worth it. Whenever I finish the mission I spend the next 8 or so minutes circling the building, using the temp power as much as I can before it wears out.

Essentially:
Tropes: "Oh, cool. This is this.
Cliche: Oh man. This again?
It's...*blink*...oh wow. It's that gray area between recognizable and annoying. No wonder we're having an issue here. -
Essentially she doesn't want to admit to her statements being opinion or fact, because from what I can tell according to her mind at least, her opinion is fact. And trying to get her to explain her comment is just as futile. It makes sense where she said it because she's the one that said it. So we may as well just drop this and go back to TvTropes.
For example, can anyone pick out tropes for the three Villain ATs that don't have one yet? -
Quote:And Reduce the Hunt Missions from a max of 50 in some cases to never exceeding 20 (or maybe 25). Ever.Quote:One thing I thought of for hunts would be to make the number needed random, but capping at 50 max, or maybe less - so technically, you could complete a hunt with just one defeat - but the number needed would still be hidden, so you'd just be told to question/investigate an enemy group for whatever info was needed, rather than be told how many you needed to defeat.
Incidentally, for someone with a better memory than I, what's the largest hunt in CoV? Personally, I can't remember a single one more than 10. -
While technically this is all something that should probably go in Jay's megathread, it would be remiss of me not to mention that I still want the Decorated Military Formal jacket that the male models can get to be ported to Huge and Female.

Well, I don't think it's a time line issue, I just remember six getting at least some form of disciplinary action at the end of Choices (not much granted, but still). Now here comes Bonebreaker, who's talking about things Six did before his final confrontation with Rose and he gets suspended. What I didn't get was Vir's line "you never learn", since what Bone breaker had to say was all stuff that happened before the 'lesson'. Unless of course, the problem really is that he was keeping all this from the rest of the group, then I can see it.
-
I see, so this is more because he was keeping details from the group, then? Considering the details themselves, I can see it now.
