However. With $80 now, and another $170 coming, I'd say do BOTH. That's a comfortable enough budget number to do so.

Also, as noted, get a look at the power rating of your power supply. This way we can suggest something that's within your system's power envelope.

Even if we have to get you a power supply to accommodate a new video card, I'm confident we can do it within budget.

Just about ANYTHING is going to be better than your current, onboard, Intel video solution.

OK i opened my computer to check the motherboard hopefully this is right.

The power supply has a switch on the back to go between the two.

More memory will speed up the load times, smooth out your frame rate by reducing swap file thrashing (which you will get with very low memory) but won't increase your current frame rate (while standing around) or allow you to raise the graphic settings.

A better video card should allow you to raise the graphic settings and improve your frame rate but with only 1GB of system memory, you graphics will still stutter whenever the swap file thrashes. One unexpected problem for people upgrading their video card is the fact the better ones all require a more substantial power supply than what normally comes in your basic store bought Dell/HP/Compaq PC. Some of these PCs are a real pain when it comes to upgrading the power supply as well.

To give us a better idea what you have let me suggest that you post the output from DxDiag, at least the first part up to the System Devices, just after the Disk Drive section. I'm suggesting this instead of "our" CoHHelper application because you don't have to download anything and it sounds like you aren't super PC savvy. This will give us a more complete understanding of what you have instead of us playing 20 questions.

All you need to do to run DxDiag is select Start in the Windows Taskbar, select "Run..." in the left column, type in dxdiag in the Open: field and click OK. That should run Microsoft's DirectX Diagnostic Tool. Once the little progress bar disappears, press the "Save All Information..." button and you will prompted where to save it. Then post that file here.

Board: ASUSTeK Computer INC. Lancaster8 1.04
    Bus Clock: 200 megahertz
BIOS: American Megatrends Inc. 5.16 10/01/2007

    Video card

name- Intel(R) 82945G Express chipset family
    manufacturer- Intel Corporation
chip type- 82945G Express chipset family
    Dac type- Internal
    Approx total memory- 251mb
    current display mode- 1024x768 (32 bit)(75 hz)
    monitor- generic pnp monitor

OK I used a few websites/programs to help me find this info and I hope it's everything you need.

Currently I only have about 80 dollars to spend until like a week and a half down the road when I'll have about 250 dollars so I'm just kinda impatient and was wondering what would be better to improve my situation (RAMvsVideo card). As I said earlier my load times are to slow to bare sometimes and I would really like to solve that first.
  13. Honestly I don't even know. I know it's a duel core only has 1 gig of RAM using the on board video card. Like I said not tech savy. My other computer died so I got this one from my friend for 50 bucks.
  14. OK I was gonna upgrade but can only do 1 or the other at this particular moment in time. I know RAM will increase my load speed and video card would make for a smoother gameplay with higher graphics turned up.

Here's the thing I only have 1 gig of RAM right now and my load speeds seem too slow to bare sometimes so I was just gonna get more RAM but honestly I'm not really tech savy. What would you tech experts get first and would a better video card have anything to do with load times at all?

    Thanks for any help.
  15. What ever happened to the term "if it aint broke don't fix it"?

    Saruman Trolling

I never got why they cut this scene from the movie. I went to the theatres with like 15 people no joke and we all were wondering what the F happened to Saruman. Well we had to wait for the extended version to release on DVD.

  20. I just got anew computer and thank heavens the nc launcher works with it. But my old pc did NOT and I tried multiple ways. Why are you guys making this mandatory? Why is this the only choice? I really feel for the people that this doesn't work for.
  21. honestly i haven't seen chat in rf2009 in months maybe longer. The hopping channels right now are Freedom TF, Freedom TFs, and Freedom.
