  1. Morbo: Morbo will now introduce tonight's candidates: Puny Human #1, Puny Human #2, and Morbo's good friend, Richard Nixon.

That's all we need now: Richard Nixon's head with a charismatic robot body.

At least the 5th hottest person is now the new 4th hottest... whoever that might be as far as you're concerned.

Pretty much depends on how much "on schedule" they stick with the 9 hour maintenance period.
There isn't going to be set time down to the hour, minute and second.

Personally, I was going to do a year subscription tomorrow. Now I'm not. The expectation set by the company I was going to give the money to turned out to be false, and admitted as such by that company. I think that's a valid reason to withhold any larger investment and approach further investment cautiously. And, since it's my money, I'm the one that gets to decide, and my reasons are valid. Whether you think so or not is completely and utterly irrelevant.
Actually the fact that they openly announced this change ought to earn them a certain degree of loyalty. After all they didn't really have to announce it prior to the launch as they did.

You do realize when people like you and Moly "withhold your investments" then the Devs are ultimately LESS likely to have the resources to change the game in a way you would like. If you see your actions as some kind of "punishment" leveled against them then I can only imagine that you like blowing into the wind as well.

Yes I'm aware of those things. I'm also aware that it's very possible that in a few months this "problem" or yours with being unable to "front-load" points will be fixed and the Devs may very well have introduced yet another costume set that makes the Celestial set look like crap in comparison.

I'm just wondering why you'd be willing to risk $250 on this game as of yesterday but not consider it a good "risk" for say 6 months from now. Really I'm mostly just amazed that something like this costume set is worth anyone's effort to sling hundreds of dollars back and forth from the Devs hands.

When they announced that the points would be front-loaded, I budgeted to purchase a 1-year subscription and an additional $100 worth of points. This would not quite put me in tier 9, but would set me up to get there next month. This announcement irritates me enough that I will withold that $250...for now...
Peripheral problems? Yes I'd definitely rank my access to one costume set as a very "peripheral" problem.

Once again I'm saying you should have a LONGER view of your plans for this game. If you want to make snap multi-hundred dollar decisions based on whether or not you'll get to use ONE costume set either tomorrow or a couple of years from now then I think you're probably not spending your money on this game for the most reasonable reasons.

I'm actually suggesting that the Devs are always going to be adding "new things" which people will rather foolishly base their subscription decisions on. You seem to be basing your decision on the announced plans for a single new toy instead on worrying whether or not you see yourself liking the overall game into the future. To me that just seems like a trivial thing to base an entire subscription on.

The similar kind of silliness happened when the Vet Award system first arrived. Many of us played the game continuously for around 2.5 years before we had any clue there was ever going to be Vet Award system. When it finally arrived some people complained "If I had only known the Vet Award system was going to happen I would have maintained my subscription." Sucked for them to be so fickle.

You should be making your plans based on whether or not you like the core game, not on whether or not you were promised (or not promised) bonus prizes that you'll now have to wait longer for. If a costume set was the only thing motivating you to spend the money on a multi-month subscription then I think your priorities on this might have been a bit skewed to begin with. *shrugs*

I suppose it depends on how important it is to you. You could always start "poking" at it even before 1pm PST to see if you can get lucky.

BTW, your pic in your first post was very appropriate for this event.

A few months ago we didn't even know there would be things called "VIP costume sets" in the first place.
Were you going to keep playing for a while before you knew about those things?

It won't instantly start up, but it'll probably save maybe 90% of the updating and patching it might normally need if you were doing the full update from Issue 20 to Issue 21.

Don't know, but I'm just going to be copying my .pigg files from my Beta client to my Live client regardless. It should be much quicker than trying to re-download the bulk of the code that way.

Sure I do that sometimes myself. But how often do you go in early and have every expectation of probably having to stay LATER than normal as well?

I just thought Captiosus' total lack of "situational awareness" for what's going on here was fairly irksome.

I guess it was too much to hope that people would be willing to cut the Devs some slack for launching the most radical set of changes to the game in its 7.5 year history. Many of them are probably expecting to go to work 3 or 4 hours EARLIER than they usually do already. How often do you normally go to work or school 3 or 4 hours earlier than you normally do?

Hopefully the next time you decide to post something incredibly selfish and stupid in these forums you'll think twice about it...

Well "obvious applications of simple common sense" don't seem to count as "skill" for these Canadian contests either.

Well it's not every day you launch a fundamental restructuring of the game you work on.

    Good luck to everyone involved.
  19. On some level it still strikes me as odd that they would basically "retire" an entire zone, but I understand the reasons for why it's being done. I never had much use for Galaxy City myself but at least they are keeping the old version in Ouroboros for those who want it.

Clearly the Devs don't want to encourage us to convert Empyreans and Astrals either way. That explains the 1:1 Empyrean to Astral "downgrade". It's sort of like they are telling us "sure we'll let you convert them that way if you want, but you're going to lose a huge amount of value in downgrading an Empyrean to an Astral".

This is why when you consider the reverse suggestion (converting Astrals to Empyreans) they would likely make that as equally "unfavorable" to us. They may make it possible, but they'd want to keep it something that we would likely want to avoid most of the time. A semi-ugly conversion rate of say 20 Astrals to an Empyrean seems like the most likely rate we'd see out of this.
  21. It'd be an interesting twist if that wolf was Emma, but even if it was I don't think she'd be all "scary and snarly" with Sam, even if she was trying to surprise him for Halloween. Besides she might still be a bit too young to shift anyway - I might be wrong but I think the Stackhouse books established that people can't shift until they hit puberty.

Of course her dealing with learning how the whole shifting thing works might be a topic for next season.
  22. That's hilarious. I've heard of silly things to bypass silly laws before but this is a new one for me. I'll bet there was a group of lawyers who got paid serious money to "figure out" the original math question loop hole for this kind of thing.

Yeah I'd expect this to be at least something like "20:1" or maybe "10:1 once a day". I doubt it'd ever be cheaper than that.

You'd have to make the argument that the "value" of having access to both the red and blue sides was not as great as the HVAMs per unit time. It may fundamentally "feel" like that is the case, but I'm not exactly sure how you'd quantify that in a way that'd convince the Devs to take action.

Maybe if you better explained what tourists getting "extra rewards" from a WST meant you might better explain the "problem" you're trying to fix here.

Yes I fully expect there will be people attempting to be the first "Exalted native" to hit 50. Since it only takes like 20 or 30 hours to do it in the AE farms I figure that'll happen within about a day of Exalted going live.
