That's a good trick. Wish I had thought of that back when I moved a bunch of my alts out to First Ward in the first place.

I'm a good number of days into the 3rd Day Job badge for most of them so that'll have to be something I remember for the next new zone they add with new Day Jobs...

This part of Grimm almost seems like a semi-ripoff of something like Wilfred.
It's basically the same idea since the main guy is the only one who can see the wolf-guy as a wolf-guy.
I guess we'll see how it plays out. *shrugs*

I didn't see the latest episode yet because of the power outages in the northeast, but the recap I read said that Rick was going to donate more blood but the doctor wouldn't let him due to the risk of heart failure. Seems to me, that's a pretty dire situation.

I'll just chalk it up to sloppy writing and leave it at that. However, I am going to take a poll in my office tomorrow to see what percentage of say 20 people know what their blood type is. I'm betting it will be over 50%.
They left it comfortably vague exactly how much blood Rick donated. Without spoiling too much the timeframe this episode covered was like around 6-8 hours so we're left to assume (again vaguely) that Rick may have given maybe 2 or 3 pints in that time period.

Like I said before if they had shown Rick giving blood for multiple days in a row then I'd consider it a bit fishy. But given the way this episode went I think it was handled well enough. It was certainly better handled than the doctor magically knowing he was dealing with a bullet that had shattered into 6 pieces in the last episode.

P.S. For what it's worth I don't think I know what my blood type is offhand...

And yes I have fireworks in there too. I also own an assortment of hunting rifles, a few handguns and lots of tools but they don't stay in my car.
I live in a place where we can potentially get hurricanes on top of us for 6 months of the year and I don't even have a real-life apocalypse kit ready to go.

I knew revolvers like that existed but I didn't know a name for them. This was another reason why I'd favor a revolver over a semi-auto because I assume it'd be harder (if not impossible) to get a clip-based gun to use different caliber ammo. When you'd be scrounging around after the ZA being able to shoot all kinds of ammo would be a great advantage.

It's certainly possible someone else besides Rick could have helped Carl with transfusions. But since Rick was sure about his blood type it was easy enough get blood from him first. If the situation had gotten to the point where Carl needed transfusions for multiple days or longer then yes it might of made sense to see if someone else could have helped out. But in the timeframe involved here Rick being the only one to give blood was not that unreasonable.

As several of us have already mentioned in this thread that you can easily make "non-human flesh tone" nude characters with the options we've had available for years in this game. But as soon as you let someone make a Ken/Barbie doll with normal human skin tones then all bets are off. As I mentioned the Devs specifically nerfed that early on in the game.

For some reason the Devs have decided that being able to do that is too "naughty" for a Teen Rated game. So this means they'd never just give us a standard color wheel because they'd have to spend the time and effort to figure out how to block out all the unacceptable colors. The fact that doing that would not be a trivial effort has likely kept it from happening for the last 7+ years.

Right you can't make a nude character with any color that's roughly close to real human flesh tones. But you can use a few other colors (like one of the reds for instance) to make color-matching Ken/Barbie dolls like that. *shrugs*
  12. Just to add a little bit of historical info to this thread the "nude nerf" was literally part of one of the very first major patches to the game that came in just a few weeks after it launched back in 2004. We never had a color wheel but we did have the standard "skin tone" swatches available as choices for both costume items and skin color. This made making a nude character very easy because all you had to do was set a costume item to be same color as the base skin color. The nerf basically involved removing the skin tone choices from the costume item color palette.

The sad part about this is that we know for a fact that the game can already support setting costume items to any RGB color. We know this because when the Devs added the costume save/load feature a few years ago it was possible (before it was quickly nerfed) to manually edit any RGB color value into a saved costume file and load it back into the game. It looked really cool but as I said it was quickly taken away from us.

At this point I don't expect we'll ever get a color wheel to pick any color we want because A) it'd take a solid amount of Dev effort to modify the game for that and B) they probably don't want to make it once again trivial to make skin tone nude characters. I personally think the idea of preventing us from making Ken and Barbie dolls is silly (especially since we can still make nude characters with other non-flesh colors if we want) but it is what it is.

Last season would be big build up to the curse really ending and they have to choice where they want to go. I expect that real world people would get involved with Story Brook people and could have plots about the evil real world people trying to exploit Story Brook Land. Honestly, good writers can milk this for years and years.

I never said that good writers couldn't milk this concept for years. I only strongly implied that unless the writers of this show are VERY good their efforts to extend/delay the resolution of the main premise of this show will eventually become tedious and silly.

I'm still more than willing to give this show a decent chance. Basically all I'm saying is that it's pretty clear -how- this show will fail assuming they don't do an amazing job to avoid that fate.

This scene has kept me thinking about the old classic joke about the two guys trekking through the jungle. They find a clearing and set up camp for the night, make dinner, take their shoes off and relax. Right at dusk a tiger appears at the edge of the clearing, obviously looking for a nice dinner, and one of the guys immediately takes off running, the other starts pulling on his shoes. The running guy yells back to his buddy, “Shoes won’t help, you’ll never outrun a tiger!” The second guy, who is now up and running just behind him says, “I don’t need to outrun the tiger, I just need to outrun you.”

Well I think it's pretty clear the "two weapons only" limit was just to get us to think about this academically. Realistically speaking I'd probably try to carry at least a couple of pistols, some kind of rifle AND a machete/crowbar. I'd probably get the best two weapons from the weapons guy and then just take something like a crowbar from any random car left around.

I actually don't think this pack was a "bad" idea in and of itself. I just think it's a little too expensive and very poorly timed. What's the point of having a holiday themed item go up for sale the day -after- the holiday in question?
  17. Maybe if this pack was offered 2 weeks ago for like 200 points it -might- have made some sense for a special Halloween themed offering. As it is it just misses the mark on multiple levels. Better luck next time Paragon Studios... *shrugs*

Basically as long as you log out just about anywhere in FW -except- at the hospital, the DUST HQ, or the scavenger base you'll get credit for the fourth badge.

Eh, I know it doesn't really matter much for Turg anymore because he already has all the Paragon Reward badges. And I don't really care when people get their monthly points because anyone can buy as many of those as they want anytime they want.

Finally if Turg still gets his Paragon Reward anniversary badges a few weeks earlier than his -actual- anniversary then that won't be too bad because at least that'd only be wrong once a year instead of his Vet badges which were wrong 4 times a year.

Seems like something you'd go for for silence instead of precision and accuracy.
Yeah that's why I was almost 50/50 between a crossbow and a revolver. Yes the crossbow would be pretty quiet and might even be good for hunting. But I figure a revolver might be more universally useful if you're being chased by several zombies or are confronted by non-zombie people and would probably be generally easier to aim one handed.

The only reason I'd opt for a revolver before a semi-auto is that on average they are more reliable, accurate and less likely to jam. Besides if you're in a situation where you find you need to shoot more than a few rounds at some zombies then you're probably screwed anyway.

    The Walking Dead

I'd probably go with a crossbow if I knew for sure they could reliably put down zombies the same way they seem be able to on this show. If that's not enough kill power for "real" zombies then I'd probably go for some kind of revolver with a silencer. A revolver would be simple to load and maintain in a rugged, outdoor environment and it'd be good protection against zombies as well as other naughty humans.

For my second weapon I'd probably go with some kind of machete. You could use it to hack up zombies and it'd be a useful tool for all sorts of other applications.
  22. So far I like OUAT better than Grimm. But if I were to predict how long these shows will last I'd probably say Grimm has a better chance to last longer. The main difference between the two shows is that OUAT already has a logical conclusion built into the story whereas Grimm has set itself up pretty well to be an open-ended episodic series.

Basically we already know that OUAT will end when the curse is broken and everyone returns back to the way they are supposed to be. Its outcome is already pre-established, so watching the series boils to seeing how long they can drag out the inevitable resolution. I suspect this'll be yet another show that would have been better served as something like a 10 episode miniseries (like Band of Brothers) than an open-ended series. They'll probably try to drag it out as long as possible until it gets silly instead of making a clearly defined story with a set beginning, middle and end.

Grimm on the other hand looks like it could easily evolve into an on-going "Chosen One versus Critter of the Week" deal that worked for shows like Buffy/Angel. Grimm doesn't seem to have a hardwired way to finish the story they've presented so it can probably keep evolving for years, assuming it's good enough otherwise.

I've seen both movies and read the original novel. Oftentimes whenever a foreign movie gets remade in America it loses much of what made the original good or special. In this case I think they were able to take the original movie and essentially polish off some of the rough edges and ultimately make a better, more watchable version.

I'm not trying to suggest the original Swedish movie was bad or that a remake was absolutely necessary. But clearly the American remake had a bigger budget to work with and they used those resources to reformulate the story just enough to both maintain the spirit of the original and make it arguably better at the same time. This was definitely one of those rare cases where the "remake" was actually worthwhile.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that they have "enough stuff planned so that they'll have something new each week all the way out at least until next summer" or words to that effect. Now that something "new" might be as simple as the firefighter helmet we got a few weeks ago. But at the very least I think we'll always get something, even if it's relatively trivial.
