Any good MM slots for pet recharge and scatters their pets to keep them out of AoE. Pain pets actually have a huge advantage since they can hit through debuffs a lot better thanks to WoP. Most MMs can't even kill a pain in BG, and a good pain has a minion resummon every 30 seconds-ish which is way faster than you can kill them without dropping BG. Any smart MM that sees his pets going down faster than he is is going to go into partial BG and make you pay grievously.

Don't listen to them, mu electric fences does the job if you herdicane foes into one nice patch (just spam electric fences while you herd). Tornado is pretty crummy though in general, and it has a mind of its own. It will often chase after spawns you don't want it to, and the KB it generates will often blow guys out of corners even if you herd them into a corner with hurricane.
It's a panic button, imo.

A blaster with about 1.5 -2.0 billion in sets can outdamage just about anything and live to tell about it in PVE.
With SOs not so much.
In general if you aren't alive it really kills your DPS.
The trick is to get your high damage attacks on very high recharge and in a way you are survivable.
Bosses/AVs/Gms forget about the melee attacks get to range get to very high recharge, and ranged defense then go to town.
For fire its no problem at all to have an attack chain of AIM+BU+(Flares+blaze+fireblast)^3 then repeat untill aim and uildup are up again.
This gives you 1200 or so points in 3.67s second from the initial attack. The second iteration is a bit higher from defiance about 1500 on the third you will be much lower as the fireblast won't get the buff from aim and buildup.

Always found the "after sets" arguement to make little sense. If that same blaster was not most survivable and DPS producing before sets and now is after sets.. what happens when ATs he was comparing to also slots purple sets?
Sure you can outsingle target damage my AT if I have no ENH, but then so can everything else lol.
Single target may just go to SS brutes tho, while AoE sucks their fast attack chain requires little tweaking to build and hold fury and KO blow with it's massive dam, KU AND hold is pretty nasty.ST one time attack pretty sure goes to nrg builds, but the long ani on ET (cripes, they turned my fav punch into an AS attack lol) make it screw up sustained dps. -

It's a gigantic heal with a minor penalty (-100% regen and can't heal). Pain masterminds get a +400% regen pbaoe toggle! So you still run around with 400+% regen depending on health and other bonuses, and bodyguard mode reduces the health cost for share pain.

Yes, share pain is a very good and very situational heal. Keeps your bruiser or any other pet alive quickly in case of emergencies.

Agreed, and on the comment above that the other 2 heals are enough.. it may be for him, but check the slotted sets, unless you have soverign right and other hench buff sets to slot, the other 2 heals will only be enough while set to the lower difficulty settings. When you fight relentles and your hench are -5-6 lvls below what you fighting, the high end cost of MM heals makes it really hard to keep them alive. So that low end uber heal is very handy. -

This may come from the recent MA farms.. Don't know the cause of it but when AVs and shield-bots would buff you in the Farms it WOULD kill your recharge.. once I picked up like 3-4 shield bot while running around and even after using hasten felt like I was hit by lingering rad.
Sounds kinda like one I heard few weaks back, was buffing team with my pain corr, and a stalker said not to use enforced morale on him as it kept him goin stealth.. this have any basis in reality? -

Lunge, Slash, Eviscerate and Poison Dart
Poison Dart has built in -25% regen and I think they stack??
I feel my Night Widow does a lot of damage while having a lot of defense and good -slow debuff. I don't hear much about NW doing good damage here, which I find kinda weird.
In fact, I think Crab with Call Reinforcement (almost perma) does a lot of damage too. Venom has -20% resistance debuff which benefits himself and the two bigger spiders (the small ones kinda suck if you can perma them without losing much, then they should add good dps if they don't die).
Venom + Double Assault + Slice + Arm Lash + Longfang should be good dps. Mine is at lvl 49 and I find myself killing rather quick.

Think my widow churns out some pretty good damage too, but playing him (he's only like lvl 36 or so) while very fun an sneaky feelin and very deadly, the kills feel much slower.. but the pew pew pew pew sound effects orf the darts are fun tho -

Psi is more resisted than Smashing - not by as many things, but by much larger percentages when it is resisted, so making the overall resistance higher. It was only "least resisted" when talking about PvP, and that was a while back.
Here's a post with a breakdown by various levels of the different resistances. Note that the number listed is what the damage is multiplied by, so higher numbers are less resistance; and here is a post with overall resistances to the different types across all mobs as a whole.
Depending on whether or not you count GMs, AVs, and objects it's either Energy or Fire, although those two types and negative are all very close. Lethal, Toxic, and Psi are the most resisted, with Psi being the most resisted in the 40+ game.

Was wondering same.. def-wise my /fire alts sucked by comparison to other builds.. (not that I mind figure fire just more dam oriented then def) but hitting softcap? Can that really be done on fire without outside buffs?

MMs are and in Dev's words meant to be strongest AT in game. I did and still do play MMs sometimes but find them less then challenging. Not many other ATs can clear a relentless mission solo with EB boss, while you're upstairs makin a sandwhich.. an MM can. So I agree MMs built an played right are topdog but as I said... they get boring when you don't need to touch the keyboard to clear missions -
Take it from all the tanks and fenders you are highly team oriented.. Me not always so much, so I'd go the Ice/Ice corr. It offers great team buffs an support while remaining highly soloable.
Not that tanks an fenders aren't soloable, but think it's pretty obvious those aren't "damage" ATs. My ice/ice corr is only 45 but quite impressive with his AoE killing storms.
If you more hero then guess my choice would fall to rad/rad def.. damage sucks but the debuffs are awesome. -

Think this one comes from a misunderstanding of what the %s mean.. if you have only 23% chance to hit something and add what 7.5% by popping ACC you still only have 30% chance to hit or so. Yet I always hear people go.." That's ironic I popped an ACC and still missed!"
No it's not ironic it's - low chance to hit + small acc buff = still a crappy chance to hit. -

but while they are diff now, my examples of bein on recieving end of Fire/kin dam come from pre-nerf.. so have merit.. When I PvPed on regular bases the only diff 'tween PvP zone and PvE zone was "thinking" unpredictable enemies known as players.. all the powers worked the same.
So assuming I was comparing different base damage values is "not very bright".

My terminology was not concise enough for the budding lawyers on here. Comparison was not a correct word to use. Waas more of side comment on damage output of fire/kin, perhaps woulda been better had a compared the time it takes my Brute to solo an EB to time spent on same EB with my fire/kin...
The only real point I was making (and if disecting my incorrect language usage is your best arguement against.. you're right I do win) is that my AoE damage output on my elec/shield brute is far superior to the damage output of my Fire/kin. And those observations come from both playing them and from veiwing stat sheet comparisons on Mids.

Oh an one more thing can tell ya. Before they nerfed my /elec brutes res a solo fire/kin could not do enough dam to kill him, sure they too fast for me to get all siphoned out an zippy hovering around me while immobing me everyso often and lots a little damage # floating up, but my uber res and proc-ed regen meant even without attacking them they could not damage me enough to kill me alone. But that was befiore the PvP nerf, now my uber res alt drops in overall ress alot :/

Mine follows up that 720 smash based SC with a 720 nrg based Lightning Rod. Very little if anything survives the combo. While I greatly appreciate the damage boosts that trollers have gotten over the past few years I can't agree with this. If a brute can't hold a candle to troller then it's only because his hands are full with all the killin ;P
True the troller efortlessly holds and widdles the whole room down, but the brute cleared the next 3 rooms while that troller did so. lol
And Corrs damage can only compare once room drops below half damage.. been there with my best corrs and best brutes.. 5-6 attacks into +3 lvl group if my corr is still alive they can finally start tripping scourge.. however my elec/shield brute has already fired 2 attacks by then and the rooms all dead, so sorry no scourge for you today

yup, have one, and seen plyers better at it then me, have even killed few PvP and been chewed new ones more then once in pvp by em lol.. still gotta say, over all killage, I'll take my furied up brute over my fire kin any day of the weak, and have teamed with many on this same alt, I tend to leave them to kill last 1-2 stragglers that may have been missed while I go nuke the next groups.. kinda a game to me, try an kill everyone before my teamates get to fire attack lmao
So I love the fire/kin damage, don't get me wrong, not puttin them down, just can't see how they compare to boom,boom run to next room repeat -

heh yeah very fun set, I have an old alt I haven't played since before IOs that was awesome PvP if he couldn't take you we'd least be even match.. he's also ninja/dark :P
The tarpit/heal/reaz debuff added to pop pop pop kicking stunners.. the back up fluffy... almost godloike AT lol
Once, few years back I was in a mision that basically consisted of one room, you click a glowie and get hit by 3 massive waves of ambushes, missions over. I was set to relentless, clicked the glowie and went afk.
Came back the mission was over and only 1 lowest tier minion died
Mostly why I stopped playing him.. very little challenge in PvE and after awhile people in PvP get sick of all darks debuffs -
Speaking as one who could not bare the thought of at least a 1-2 hour RV prowl every night pre i13.. Since the changes I have not been back to PvP and unless these issues are fixed I and I imagine most of those that were fighting against and or with me have little interest in PvP.
Issue 1 and a big one: movement surpression. whoever thinks that PvP should not consist of enemies chasing each other around the city trying to outwit each other at every turn and even engaging in fun melee/flying assault batlles understands very little about PvP IMO
Just standing toe to toe pushing 1 2 3 , unable to take flight or to use SJ as a method to keep your range guy away from the deadly blows of the melee guy just is not appealing to me or my fellow PvPers.
Heck I can think of two superheroes in the Comic world you forced into hanging up their cape and getting a desk job. After all if the power you have that makes you "super" is speed.. with move surpression you now just average schmoe. Can you imagine how happy old Lex is now tho, knowing all he has to do is blow a kiss at Superman and he can drive away in his car while Supes waits for move surpression to wear off?
Another issue back to my fav PvP alt.. a DM/elec brute with fly. Elec has no def, my protection is res, yet now when I zone into pvp my char gets smacked hard in the nose with a pvp nerf bat.. I read a message that everyone gets a bonus res. so I pull up my res to see what I have.. well I guess sets thats strengths lie in other area rather then def/res get that extra dam res from my dam, but in fact all my res drops alot.. like 10-12% across the board except my nrg res which drops 25% My question is this: should my brute alt who's str is or should be melee attacks and very high res now also get say extra holds or buffs an debuffs? After all my alts who's strengths lie there are getting a res buff, where this char gets ress nerf.
I mean who the heck read "The Death of Superman" back in the 90s and thought.. "Aww man Doomsday killed Supes and no other hero is in Supes league.. I know what would make this comic universe cooler, lets make Robin the boy wonder stronger and Superman weaker so they can fight the same stuff and maybe even fight each other and be evenly matched."
That idea is SOOO far off from the comic worlds I grew up reading it's not even funny.
True I loved the power of my Superman-like alt the most, but I still logged my Robin-like support guys to PvP. They offered a completely different strategy for survival to my uber alts. I want my Superalts to be super alts and my Robinlike guys to be weaker support troops fighting beside the greater hero to save the day.
Sadly the emptyness of this feedback column reminds me of another sad fact. There are very few of us hardcore PvPers left here lurking in the shadow hoping and waiting that PvP becomes fun again. Many have gone off looking for an MMO that could satisfy their need for that heart pounding frantic battle that only comes from fightin another intelligent player as apposed to predictable NpC MOBs
The thing is, I've sampled a few other MMOs wondering if I could get the same quality of game that offer PvP the way it used to be pre13..and I can't, there is NO other MMO even close to CoX in overall quality IMO. But the PvP here now is so crappy now that it's not even on the charts of the other games.
So I stuck (and thinking there must be others who did also) with the overall quality and altho me and the handful of your base hardcore PvP are still around silenty lurking in the shadows we are all still waiting for the day PvP will be enjoyable again. I'm thinking if you can fix PvP then they will all come back for the better quality of this game, heck you wouldn't even have to make PvP better than or even as good as other MMOs out there. Just removing move supression and the "power-balancing" attempt would most likely bring many PvPers back and even hook alot of these new trial people.
Alot of the new people tryng this game would have loved the old PvP. For many that were scared off by the recent deletion of characters based on vague rules post combined with the civil unrest we had lately were not farming the exploits because they wanted to "cheat". Some had no idea there was anything else. They made a char to try a new game, someone invited them to a team and said come to this building and they had a blast farming the MA. The few I talked to in game talked about how fun it was the rush of killing huge spawns of crits. That rush is same as PvP rush.
The blanket implication that all farming was a cheat and we will be deciding how to punish you, scared alot of the newbloods away
That would be due to you all seeming to have a problem balancing or maybe even understnding (lol) risk=reward.
Example: I hear the DB boss farms were xploits due to how easy they were. Man I'd love to get one of yall to duo with me one day and I'd show you how wrong that was.
My brute and most of the people I farmed with had no fly, and the fight was WAAAYY more tough then regular game content. Don't believe? try this.. take an elec brute into Rikti war zone and go stand him in middle of a group say 10-15 rikti that con red to you.. now go make a snack and when you come back they will all be dead and you unscratched. The farm boss cheat that was according to yall risk<reward .. take that same elec alt an see how many insps you burn trying to stay alive. -
