I usually slot my Dwarf forms with +Res; +Res; +Res/+EndRdx; +EndMod; +EndMod/+EndRdx; +EndMod. Where both the first +Res and first +EndMod are simple IO's and the other IO's are from their respective sets.

Obviously shields are a huge part of HO gameplay, and I've never liked the bubbles, maybe that's why I still prefer TriForming to such a degree that I can't bring myself to dedicate playtime as an HO Kheldian

By the way... I so wanted in on that Mothership Raid... dang, I even got two LoTG's into my build and wanted to see how'd they'd help me in battle!

There is nothing wrong with AE!
[/ QUOTE ]
Like any technology, gadget or doctrine, AE itself isn't the thing that is wrong. What is wrong is that since AE enables players to setup missions any way they want to, the Human nature of wanting more *stuff* for less investment will cause a lot of people to seek out the *holes* in the system, i.e. exploits, and AE at its current state, still has many inherent exploits that will take quite some time to remove.
My interest in AE began even before those videos of Captain Dynamic were made, and when that wonderful video came out -- where Captain Dynamic asks a team of mission-writers to write him a mission where he saves a kitty from a tree and gets like awesome rewards -- I was laughing my head off, partly because I *knew* that people will be all over that if it were possible!
Coming here and telling us that there's nothing wrong with AE as a system, that's all good and fine, but don't you dare try to sell us the notion that setting up a map with critters that do not fight back yet give you even 1 point of XP and 1 INF is working as intended and isn't wrong! That's just insulting and if you don't know better, you truly deserve the name ChickenChaser! -
Exploit extermination is a good thing, however, there are two things that are negative effects that come of it: a) the Devs sometimes have to completely remove things that were used in story-arcs that were not farms but just happened to use a removed entity/effect; b) the recent crackdown on power-leveled characters (we're talking Lv50 in less than 24 hours) isn't a good exercise in PR.
To top everything off, if the whole AE-is-the-game point of view that n00b could be exposed to, causes people to think of the game negatively and thus advertise CoX as nothing more than "I came, I 50'ed, I quit" kind of game, there will be people out there that may believe these rumors and not even get a 14-day trial at all... and I think we'll all agree on one thing: No New People is Bad! -

This "it affects us all" thing is [censored]. If you really want to avoid the effects of a noob population, its very easy - get some damn friends.
[/ QUOTE ]
I've got friends, thanks, and personally the n00b population isn't the effect I'm worried about and want to avoid. What I am worried about and wish to avoid in regards to AE, is the fact that the Devs' responses to exploits found in AE farms is affecting story-arcs written by authors.
Now granted, most of these exploits could have been avoided if the Devs had more time before publishing AE, but then again, if you don't listen to your beta-testers in Closed and Open betas, you end up listening to them when things go live.
I agree with you, and a lot of others, normal farming that does not use, nor exposes, any exploits affects only the farmers themselves. However, since a prime goal for AE is to allow players to share their content with the community, a Farmer who makes a farming-mission and uses exploits in it, essentially has produced a shining beacon that screams to people "come farm me for I give better rewards than anything else in the game"! Problem is, once that beacon is lit, the Devs will notice and take action, and these actions do affect us all to varying degrees.
So yeah, this isn't just about n00b players... sorry if I gave you that impression. -

...You're not going to underperform with a human-only build like they used to before their base damage was buffed, but you're not going to be matching the capabilities of a tanker or blaster either.

To me, your statement makes a lot of sense since I always thought of the HO 'Shade as a MeleeTroller and a HO PB as a Combat-Medic that can stand toe-to-toe with opposition from time to time. YMMV, of course. -
Be aggressive Be-e aggressive... but kidding aside, all of my Kheldian are quite aggressive despite, or rather because, being TriFormers!
I'm usually not one to stay in one form unless one of these things may happen: a) I'm on a team and the team is better served by me staying in one specific form; b) I'm soloing and in Nova/Human I'd simply get defeated by a higher-level Boss/EB/AV; c) I'm either soloing or teaming, but it's too much fun to just blast stuff in Nova, more likely because there's a chance I might be shot with mezzing attacks!
I'm quite suicidal sometimes, for example, last night I put set the difficulty level to 5 and took on some Maltas head-to-head, Sappers and purples Bosses alike. It was awesome fun to actually Nova-blast Zeus Titans and the named purple Bosses in the missions I did. Not that I got away with it without a fight mind you... it was just pure fun for the challenge of it. -

...AE just gives incentive for those interested in the numbers to play the game. If you really care about all the other stuff, I'm sure you would eventually leave the AE building and explore the rest of the game.
[/ QUOTE ]
In a sense, maybe that's actually a good thing. I mean, the Devs with one single sub-system that they've introduced, have struck RMT right where it hurts, by almost eliminating the reason to pay $$$ for INF or Power-Leveling, and at the same time, came up with a way to keep all those interested in the "number-game" locked-up inside their little AE-farms.
Maybe it's not such a bad thing that AE is exploitable, but the truly saddens me because that means the aspect of using AE to experience both making stories, and playing stories, may actually be the lesser goal in the Devs' plan. -
Just a thought, you could go Kin/Elec Defender and suck endurance (big time) from the mobs, leaving them without any means of fighting back

You honestly want players too lazy to leave a building playing the rest of the game with you?
[/ QUOTE ]
I see what you're saying, but what about those people who simply truly do not know there's more to CoX than AE because their introduction to the game was through buying the AE Boxed Edition and they simply followed the instructions of "Go Meet the AE Director", and are having so much fun in AE missions anyway that they can't even imagine anything more?
Because if you believe those people to be irredeemable, by extending this concept, I wouldn't then want to play with Scrappers that rush things and die, and I wouldn't want to play with taunt-less Tankers, or Controllers who AoE-Immobilize first, die later, and yell at the "Healer" to rez them while everyone's still fighting knee-deep in enemies!
People can change, but they sometimes have to be shown the Door exists before they start contemplating what lies through and behind it. -
I'm actually on my 3rd Warshade and it's still going to be a TriFormShade... I just can't get enough of the unholy trinity combos that Dark Nova blasts + Gravitic Emanation + Sunless Mire + Eclipse + Black Dwarf Mire + Gravity Well + Unchain Essence allows me experience
-
If Controllers are an option, I'd go with either Ill/Rad or Ice/Rad for the debuffing */Rad offers and the control/tanking/damage that the Illusion/Ice sets can mix in.
If you have access to Kheldians, and are looking for a character that would always be busy with this team... I'd suggest a TriForm Peacebringer that would blast/scrap/tank for the team with ease.
Seeing however as one of your mates is a Plant/Storm Controller, maybe you'd want an even stronger Controller-type so a Grav/* or Earth/* would also be quite awesome.
As I've never played Scrappers (they bore me to death) and haven't tried Plant/Storm, I can't comment from the point of view of your buddies... sorry. -
I'd love to see Vampires (based on Council Vampiri) and Werewolves (based on.. well, Council Wolves) become an EAT that can be rolled in either side.
-
We should start a thread about which is more fun, a Human-only, a BiForm or a TriForm... then we'll see some heated up discussions...
-
As there are many ways to build and play Kheldians, there are many ways to layout the keyboard for their usage.... but I think what most of us will agree on is that binds are quite important!
-
No problemo
although, as far as I'm concerned, Kheldians and Masterminds are the only ATs' I'd actually buy a USB NUMPAD miniboard for my laptop (if I ever had a laptop capable of playing CoX in the first place)
-
You can pick any set of 3 keys. H, J, K for example could work. H for Human-form, J for the Nova (cause it jerks around while flying
) and K for Dwarf because, you know... a Dwarven Knight and all that...

So many TROLLS.. so little time!
Why are you concerned about what other people do! be concerned about what your doing. If you don't like the way the game is maybe this game isn't for you. World Of Warcraft is that way.. cya buhbye!

I'd say this game isnt for you then, World of Warcraft is that way...

How lucky for me that you're wrong on both counts. Firstly, WoW isn't like that at all, not that I recommend you play it, but any game that lets you start a new character at Lv56 isn't about putting in the effort, definitely not in combat.
Secondly, stop telling me which games are or are not for me... I pay my fees so I can be the judge of which games I'll play or not...(sounds familiar?
)
EDIT :: Also, had to add this after reading some of your posts here... do you truly believe anyone is envious of how fast you level your characters or how "accomplished" you are in an MMO? Really?? -

The xp system is not broken.
[/ QUOTE ]
When MMOs' will reward players based on effort and playing ones' role in combat, I'm not talking about RP'ing here, then I'd say that would be not-broken. Until such time, they're all broken to varying degrees. -

How about taking your own advice? Just a thought exercise... you know?
