  1. Thank you everyone for your kind reception and humor.

Really? You would be welcome to them!

PM me an email address that can receive a 1.2 MB .xls file and I'll send you my notes. Please also specify in the PM if you would like my current WIP notes or if you want the file after the all the i23 info is added.

    Thanks again, everyone!
  2. So in i23 there are currently 60 zones: 30 Hero, 11 Villain, 10 Mixed, and 9 Praetorian. Whoa! That is a lot of ground to cover.

On the upside, the devs very thoughtfully included the new TUNNEL system so it feels twice as easy to get around as before. Thanks!

On the downside, my map cheat sheet is getting too big to easily read. Oh, thanks! I am in awe that Vidiotmaps managed to still fit them in one picture.

There are all sorts of fun stats to be deduced, but here are my favorites...

*** Atlas Park is by far the most connected zone. It directly connects to half of the hero zones (14) and a third of all the zones (21).

If I figured correctly, a Vigilante or Rogue can get to any other zone in the game from Atlas Park within 3 transfers. (Not including the starting zones Destroyed Galaxy City and Precinct Five, of course.)

Much better than way back when in i2 where getting to The Storm Palace for a TF after a CC in under Atlas Statue meant going from Atlas Park through Steel Canyon, Talos, Peregrine Island, and Firebase Zulu first transferring to The Chantry to talk to Faathim the Kind. Now the path is Atlas Park > Firebase Zulu > The Storm Palace. Going from that CC to a redside Hami? Altas Park > Imperial City > Grandville > The Abyss. Okay, that was already possible with the RWZ, but it still feels faster with the TUNNEL.

Cap Au Diable and Grandville tied for the most connected Villain zones; and Imperial City claimed the honor in the Praetorian zones.

Want to see the stats? I didn't think so. Well, here is a link to the screenshot anyway...

Thanks again for the TUNNEL system, devs!
  3. Thank you for the videos! They got me excited enough about this set that I started trying to reserve a name.

My favorite choice, Wave Dancer, was already taken. I wonder if that player was thinking about doing a Quixotic Fusion tribute, too.

Thank you again to fellow players for taking the time to post videos and to the devs for finally making this set a reality.
  4. Lots of details from many rednames about how this iTrial works (and doesn't work) now available at http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=290804
  5. Team Battler did well tonight, meeting both goals with a time of 54:34 and 3 deaths.

Thank you very much for letting me join in again this week, Freedom Horde!

  6. Found some information about the Magisterium iTrial while watching the recording at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Bdi9Zn_qKE

    Timestamp 16:00 - 19:00

Q: Is Tyrant meant to be deadly?

A: Here's how the [lightning] power works. Tyrant uses a PBAoE, similar to Nova or Footstomp. It's on a 35 second cooldown. It hits everyone within 150 feet. If it hits you, one second after it hits you it's going to drop an invisible pet at your feet. This pet will be pulsing an attack in a column; the lightning that you see come down.

So here's the basic deal: If you are just standing in one pillar, you can stand in it for 10 ticks until you die. (I think it's 10, it might be 12.) If you're standing in 10 pillars, or 12 pillars, you can stand in it for 1 tick until you die. The attack will come every 35 seconds, almost without fail.

So here's what you want to do: You want to get your lead to say, "Alright, it's been about a little while since the last lightning... let's jump out for a couple seconds from the lightning, then run back in." That's the easiest way to avoid the problem.

I think what you are explaining, is that you are getting hit by other people's lightning at the same time. Essentially if you have a giant clump of people and you all stand still, yeah, it's gonna hurt. But if you don't...

It's pretty easy to plan around and mitigate. You have to engineer a situation where you are not getting hit by this giant lightning from the sky. Or at least not getting hit repeatedly.

((There's more that repeats the above.))

    Timestamp 51:50 - 52:40

Q: Why does Tyrant become so hard at about 20% health?

A: Basically we want that last push to really be a push. We wanted you to really pour on the DPS for those last seconds.

    Timestamp 1:05:20 - 1:08:50

Q: Do you require specific AT to succeed at [The Hard Way and The Really Hard Way] iTrial badges?

((shortened)) A: You shouldn't. We know the players are much better at the game than we are.

Players might be able to get it as they are with the inspirations and buffs currently in-game. But the intent is to want it and recognize [as you slot more of the Incarnate tree] that you are getting stronger and able to do it.

So I think if we can get everyone on the team to monitor their own level shift and then save their pets until they get +9, that will make a huge difference.

Seriously - imagine a league full of +9 lore pets all going after tyrant at the same time.

  8. Thanks tonight for the runs which unlocked Hybrid! I'll see about getting it slotted for the next badge run.

If more tips surface while I watch the recording, I'll post up notes.
  9. Looking forward to it! Will log on with Dynexus (53 illusion/FF controller).

Thank you for the encouragement, Luna! It was worth going to. Hope everyone had enough fun on Manticore TF for me, too.

Now that that is done, I am looking forward to next Monday's Freedom Horde!
  11. PS My Freedom Horde alt "Fairy Tale" is a Plant/Poison Controller, just FYI.
  12. Double-checked my schedule and realized that I won't make it this week.

About a month ago I agreed to attend a family outing. What possessed me to do so on a Monday night holiday, I have no idea. My only excuse is, "It sounded like a good idea at the time"...
  13. Whee! How exciting to know you have a son joining your family!

Congratulations, Madame Pistacio! Keep growing strong, Mr Lil MP!
  14. I'm sad to hear that. Hope you feel better soon, Mr E-Man!
  15. Ah, the excitement of exploring unknown territory. Tempered by knowing there is a LOT of territory to explore. (And that's only the domestic options. International possibilities offers even more treasures worth discovering.) Welcome to the world of comics, Hit Streak!

Like deciding to explore animation for the first time, the sheer volume available is daunting. My best advice: Pick a theme and enjoy whatever you can find.

Sure, you'll probably end up in the middle of a story without knowing what is going on. That is actually a good thing. If you can enjoy storytelling without the back story, you can know you definitely found something worth pursuing. If it doesn't interest you quickly, move on. Once you find something you like, then fellow fans can help you track down legacy issues. Just remember that there is no obligation to become a devoted fan of popular titles. Or a fan at all of any comics, for that matter.

If you still want a "Start Here" point, grab a week's worth of regional newspapers and read all the comics. Odds are you'll quickly learn from that variety which type of drawing style and storytelling you enjoy. Once you can tell the community that, we can give you details about more specific titles to pursue.

If newspapers are too low-tech or not convenient, there are a variety of titles for your perusal in the Link your current fave (worksafe) Webcomic! thread.

Don't forget that there are plenty of comics to enjoy right here in City Of Heroes. Both official and fan made issues.

Alternately, go to a bookstore. Our local Barnes & Noble has a good selection of current comic books. I like to reward myself from time to time by spending a few hours sampling titles. After finding something I like enough to spend money on, Google searches helpfully provides extensive information on related titles plus online/B&M locations for tracking down copies.

Like all products, purchased items tell the producers that there is an interested market. So remember to buy what you like if you want to see more of the same.

PS The comic that I enjoyed most and has had the biggest impact on me is ElfQuest. (Especially "The Original Quest".) It has the added bonus of being completely available online at the official website.
  16. Today's lesson: Red Caps ambushes are BRUTAL!

Team Battler finished Buck Salinger's arc in 56:11 with a painful 16 deaths. I think I was half of them. Yikes!

During the break we did some pumpkin carving with Eochai.

Then said "Hi" to Sally, but she didn't like being pet.

Next was Mary. And Mary. And Mary. And, well, you get the idea...

Random screenshot time. I was amused that the combination of a short fairy and tunnel geography let me get a good view of the underside of Professor Iceflow's ice patch. PS Thank you always for the ice shields, Professor!

The underground cavern of the Red Caps would have been more enjoyable to visit if they had not wanted to add us to their cooking pot.

Finally Team Battler completed the Katie Hannon TF in 37:34 minutes. We fell down only half as much as before, but a lot of pain was still felt in those 8 defeats.

As a post-Horde treat, Myrdinn invited me along to get the Lost Savior badge.

Upon learning that Fairy Tale still lacked access to the Midnighter Club, Myrdinn swapped on a tank to duo the entire Montague Castanella arc. The extended company, plus a bonus level-up, was a nice way to round out the night.

Whew! Lots of good fun and lots of screenshots to prove it. ;-> Thank you very much for letting me join in, Freedom Horde!
  17. Here's a game feature I only recently learned about and almost never see anyone using:

A League can do multiple missions* at the same time. This means that each teams can do their own mission/TF/SF/flashback yet still remain in a league group. Useful when players want to still chat but do not share the same SG/coalition, global channel, or friend list.

*as long as it is not a LFG-started event such as BAF, Keyes, DiB, etc
  18. Tonights run were fun! Thanks to Professor Iceflow for leading us through both arcs successfully.

Field Agent Keith Nance's "Twisted Reflection" arc was completed in 26:40 with NO defeats.

And Special Agent Jenni Adair's "Looking Through The Glass" was completed in 22:08 with 1 defeat.

An extra thanks for allowing me to try out the Team Transporter power. It was good to learn that even when the mission objective changed as long as the team task is an active door it will work as a teleporter. I had accidentally summoned it for a talk mission, but it worked once the next door mission became the active mission.

Next I want to test it to see if it is limited to team-only access or if anyone on the league can use it.
  19. This event was a lot of fun tonight! Thank you so much, PERC. An extra hat tip to Madame Pistacio for excellent showmanship, moving things quickly, AND keeping up with /tells!

A few pictures for those who couldn't make it. (Click on images for full size.)

I logged on after the Quick Change Costume Contest and then was too busy laughing while getting my tail handed to me during the Spring Shenanigans PVP to get screenshots.

The Spring Hide And Seek segment was well planned. I got lost a couple times, but Madame Pistacio's kind encouragement finally got me through it.

    My hide-and-seek notes were...

    Code:
    PERC treasure hunt

    1) Madame Pistacio (herself): To walk the earth is not so fun, no wonder why he's bleak, your quest has only just begun, to Halloween land- go and seek! (hint, badge)

Conclusion: Grim Wanderer badge in north Croatoa

    2) Fervent One (Back Alley Brawler): At the start there are 5 of these, but only 1 you pick, so see the big cheese, of the one called Genetic

Conclusion: G.I.F.T. (Genetic Investigation and Facilitation Team) in City Hall, Atlas Park

    3) Nox Fura (Sister Psyche): He bites, he snarls, don't be afraid, underground you need to find and see, perhaps make him choke with a smoke grenade, and this pup will let you be.

    Misguessed: Wardog in Underground Imperial

Madame Pistacio hinted that no Going Rogue zones are used.

Conclusion: The Wolf's Throad in Striga Isle

    4) Viola Rosa (Luminary): They're big and mean, so make a scene, surrounded by water no land in sight, to conquer these beasts will take a fight! (and you might get an EoE!)

Misguessed: Tempest Quay in Peregrine Island*

Misguessed: Ophelia's Final Scene in Perez Park

Misguessed: Scylla Island in Talos Island

    Gave up. Oh, well!

Madame Pistacio gave answer: Monster Island in Peregrine Island. *Finally found him on the SE edge of the south Tempest Quay island after re-circling the monster island NE of the main island and all the other islands in Tempest Quay.

    5) Egregious (Synapse): Don't go to a tavern, just find the man, who shows you the cavern, the mystic will introduce you right to his hand.

Conclusion: Talshak the Mystic in The Hollows

    6) Spectral Rage (Mynx): Beyond Atlas they dwell in hoards, stealers of flesh and terrors of night, through the grates over the boards, like death from below but not quite.

Conclusion: Atlas Park Gate in Sewer Network

    7) Futoji Miyo (Malaise): When Rikti are caught, they bring them here, for insight is sought, a surgical center then to the rear.

Conclusion: Vanguard Compound in Rikti War Zone

    8) Phantoms Opera (Dark Watcher): Go back to the start, but into the cage, bestill your heart, the monkeys do rage!

Conclusion: Monkey Fight Club in Pocket D

    9) Madame Pistacio (herself): Now tell me friend, who did you see? I need their names one and all, then you will win the prize grandly!

Final Conclusion: 1) Madame Pistacio (herself), 2) Fervent One (Back Alley Brawler), 3) Nox Fura (Sister Psychic), 4) Viola Rosa (Luminary), 5) Egregious (Synapse), 6) Spectral Rage (Mynx), 7) Futoji Miyo (Malaise), 8) Phantoms Opera (Dark Watcher), and last but not least 9) Madame Pistacio (herself)

    Yay!!

My alt wasn't high enough level to join the Spring Fever in the Cathedral runs, so I spent the time talking to Trina in the Tiki Lounge to tweek my spring dress design.

The night rounded out with the Victory Spring Lucky Duck Lottery! It was fun deciding to keep the prize, blindly try an alternative, or (if the alternative was sub-stellar) do a little song and dance to trade for something better. I believe Madame Pistacio made sure everyone got something.

This in spite of the inevitable minor griefing with spammed group buffs, Ouroboros portal, and huge Team Transporter summon.

Thank you again, Madame Pistacio and PERC, for a great event!

  20. A delightful evening! Thank you for the smiles, laughs, and treats. Well done, Madame Pistaci and PERC!

  21. Congratulations to you Madame Pistacio on your growing family! And I think it is sweet that you already have their global name reserved for them. ;->

My vote goes for lil MP being a boy.

And if it turns out to be female, I can still say, "Oh boy, it was a girl!"

  23. First and most importantly: Happy Birthday, Witty! Congratulations on the level up.

I've enjoyed TT a few times on Champion enough to join Justice tonight. Thank you LSK for the fun missions and Nemesis raid. And thank you all tanks who continue to welcome this tag-along.
  24. Made it through with both Dynexus (thank you for the badges which brought me to 1331 total!) and Fairy Tale (thank you for level 35)! Had a lot of fun!
  25. May bring my badger Dynexus instead of Fairy Tale tonight...

... if I can get back home in time. If I don't show up, assume I'm still out helping family and please have enough fun for me too!
