mob = 1
Spawn = more than one mob.
I use "mob" because it's three letters and sometimes I'm in a rush to type out what I'm trying to say and "critter" takes longer.
And I'm lazy. -

What you did was awesome.
Thanks. -
This is why I love the Justice server and all my Justicite family members.
I got on thismorning at 1130 EST and asked if there was anything going on. Kat was on and I said something about wanting a team.
That's all I said...
The next thing I know Kat's got me invited, and like three other people. After about an hour we had a full team. No longer than about an hour after that we were doing the Manticore TF.
She did it all by herself for what felt like simply a request on my part. She didn't have to. I don't even think she's even aware of it, but she really made me feel special for doing it. I almost felt like she did it entirely for me.
She didn't, of course, and I don't think it's reasonable to suggest that it was all because of me, but for a brief moment I allowed myself to feel special because of Katfood. She's a nice girl, and she's my friend.
Thank you, Kat. -
I'm really tired of spending 15-25 minutes bouncing around an empty map looking for that "last hostage" in the "save all hostage missions". Most of the time it's okay, you find them relatively easily, but there are times, and they're more often than some might realize, at least for some of us, where we have to spend an inordinate amount of time just looking for that last guy.
Can we add a kind of "Hot/Cold" function to them, please? Kinda like the glowies, they make a sound, can't we have something like that for the hostages we save? -

Because there have been 999 threads like this already. Bad idea.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's not a "Bad idea"... it's just not realistic given they have no real reason to do it.
Sorta depends on who you are, the customer or the business. If you're the business, then it's a bad idea. If you're the customer it's a great idea... assuming you're someone who'll want to play longer than a year.
I think the reason why other games do it is because they're expecting a large turn-around on their subscribers, play for a month or two, then stop for a long while, then maybe another month or two. CoH/V isn't quite like that, from what I gather. From what I understand CoH/V is one of those MMOs that has a far slower turn-around, with many gamers staying for years and years on end. In that regard, a life-time sub isn't in their interest.
See... that's the irony. The only time a lifetime sub option is worthwhile is if they're expecting their clients to not be here longer than a year or two at the most. It's the MMOs with clients that stay for years that will never offer the option. -

I thought it was called "Bob's Big Boy", it has that iconic 50's style fat kid holding a burger in the air as it's mascot, right?

The name varies from region to region. In my part of Ohio, they're Frisch's Big Boy. And their signature burger, the Big Boy, is quite good.

Oh... that's why. I wondered why the name seemed to change depending on what channel I was watching, I thought I was crazy... -

By the time anyone gets to the point where they're fighting malta they either have status protection or access to some kind of single-target mez, at minimum.
[/ QUOTE ]
LOL, what?! "Everyone"?
[/ QUOTE ]
Pretty much everyone, yup. There may be the odd AT that has a specific powerset combination that doesn't give them access to either status protection or a single-target mez of some kind by the time they're in the 40's, but almost every AT and powerset combination I can think of has at least access to either status prot or a single-target hold by the time they get to that point in the game. The poitn is that you almost have to deliberately opt out of taking it to not have some way to defend yourself.
And, let's face it, in this game it's the player 90% of the time that initiates contact. I get by on my fire/fire just fine against Malta at almost any difficulty level because I know that in order to be safe I have to take out the guy who's gonna either sap me or mez me first. I have 20 inspiration slots, so even if I don't have a break free I can always fabricate one.
I agree with Sam that the Malta is a bit much sometimes, but I have a harder time in my twenties and thirties with mezzing enemies than I do with the Malta. They might be a little harder than they should be, or feel harder than is fair (and I think so too sometimes, don't get me wrong), but they're hardly game-breaking by any means, nor are they truly unreasonable. -

That being said, this particular dev team seems to like taking the angle of simply overloading one mob group with a certain kind of ability and then ramming it down the player's throat. For instance, the CoT over red-side is ridiculous. Better and more aptly named the "Circle of Nerva Spectral Daemon Lords", almost every, single CoT mission I've ever done over there has simply been a festival of the damn things, stacking -ACC debuff three deep, not to mention the "smite" ability for the minions. WHAT FUN!
It's one of the primary reasons I don't play villains... You're either fighting Longbow, Arachnos or CoT, meaning that your'e either bored of the same damn enemies over and over, or your bored and annoyed. -

Blasters are broken
There, I said it
I'm now working on a fire/fire and it never felt so true
[/ QUOTE ]
Hmmm...
*checks registration date of OP*
Aaahhh... I think I understand now.
Blasters aren't "Broken", my friend. They're hardly the strongest of the ATs, and they're not great soloers unless you really know what you're doing, but they're hardly "broken", at least not compared to what they used to be.
Back in the day they had nothing. Even Defiance was worse than it is now. We had to deal with things like the lead designer saying "Range is a blaster's defence", all the way completely oblivious to the fact that pretty near HALF a blaster's powers were essentially melee range, the real heavy damage in particular. Blasters had it really rough for a long time... but recently, they're not too bad compared to other ATs.
They're not broken, they're just hard to play. -
I find the suggestion largely unimaginative and ultimately will simply mean that NOBODY uses the MA system. Even the hardest of the hard-core RPer still wants exp for what they do, part of role-playing is advancing the character.
I also find the thread itself fairly ridiculous, but then I'm hardly one to judge as I've contributed to my own share of idiotic forum noise, not to mention posting here myself. -
You people are [censored]ing sheep.
No, wait, that didn't sound right...
You people will believe anything you're told (that's better).
Clearly the real masterminds are the Freaks. Those guys are geniuses! They're basically cyborgs, for cryin' out loud. If you think about it, it's not just the bosses that have covered themselves in armour and weapons, it's all of them to some degree.
And they're [censored]ing hard men.

I'm really surprised Jack Zodiac didn't make the cut.

He's an old-timer... lot of the folks here are new, when you compare them to guys like Jack and Jebus and such. The reality is that he likely quit and/or stopped posting before many of the people now here even joined. Jack isn't so much "known" as he is "remembered", at this point. -
I remember that name. I don't think I ever played with him, but you never know. I remember seeing his name occasionally in chat channels... although I have no specific memories of him posting here at all.
All the best to his friends and family. Condolences to the grieving. -

Probably not, but at the same time it might be a good idea to let this thread go it's merry way. To be honest I'm surprised that it lasted this long without devlolving into a battleground. This is the first of these threads that I've seen that's gone this long without becoming a wasteland of anger and resentment.
I always pucker when I see threads like this pop up. -

[ QUOTE ]
It's true. in the most classic sense of the phrase that I'm aware of.
City of Heroes -died- when the Architect went live. And a New CoH was crowned. Nothing much else has changed.
The population spiked, then dipped (as it usually does when an issue drops) people used the new toy incessantly for a few weeks, then got back to the normal game, for the most part. And nothing changed.
It's just like royalty. A King dies and the new King is crowned, 2-3 weeks of celebration, then it's back to business as usual.
What don't people get about his? It happened when Kheldians came out (EVERYONE made Kheldians if they had the option) Then the Arena, then Villains, then the PvP zones, and so on and so forth.
There will be -some- members of the community that keep tinkering with the new toy. Like the Arena PvPers, Kheldian Players, SoA players, etc. But ultimately the vast majority of the game's population will go back to what they were doing beforehand.
PuGs are back on track, so are Task Force teams and PuG TFs. I play mostly on Virtue and Pinnacle, with a little dabbling on Guardian. I think I've got a -fairly- decent cross section of high and low population servers. I play at pretty random hours (As early as 8am, as late as 3am CST depending on my schedule)
The game is about the same as it's ever been.
Architect has killed CoH. Long Live CoH!
