He *is* adorable. Even if there were enough arrows in the world to fight a giant baby (which clearly there aren't) I don't think I could fire on him...too cute!

    Wait wait wait...

You spend billions of dollars to invent an Enema Arrow, and yet you can't spend Five Bucks and some spare change to buy a rattle and tie it to a shaft?

Really? She blinded ME with mace in the eyes.

Man, what about TR? If this guy sez MxO is better than TR, I'm gonna have words.

Still, CoX is superior to all, and I say that as someone that's played all of these.

    [/ QUOTE ]

As someone who's played both, I can definetly say Tabula Rasa is better then MxO. (And I actually liked Matrix Online. I just don't play it anymore due to money and hard drive issues)

I was a little confused by the "Saturday Night Fights" article, because it never really explains what SNF is. I gather that it's some kind of PvP event, but there's no explanation of how it works, or why it's "more fun" than regular PvP. Is it some kind of league?

    [/ QUOTE ]

The first rule of Saturday Night Fight Club is that you don't talk about Saturday Night Fight club.

...And I'm totally not saying that because I don't know what Saturday Night Fights is either, and don't want to let on that I'm completly clueless about it.

As a game for all ages I dont feel some of the artwork depicted was appropriate. Paticularly the ones entitled "Rose Maiden", "Devilita", and "Shiramune". Although I can appriciate the talent behind those works I don't feel they should be featured in a general newsletter.

    [/ QUOTE ]

When did City of Heroes/Villains become a game for all ages? Last I knew, the game was rated "T for Teen", not "E for Everyone".

Quick, someone give me a good idea as to how I can get in the scoop!

*woosh* I have know idea what you just said

I was inferring that if you keyed the numbers you got onto a telephone it'd play the hook (Repeating "catch" part) of the late disco era song Funkytown. (Also a secondary reference to South Park but I won't go there). You can play "Jingle bells" on a telephone by keying 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 5 1 2 3 for example.

    Yea - I'm wierd.

Tell me how much sense it's going to make when someone wielding a Carnie rapier with one hand (Broadsword user) outdamages someone wielding a, let's just say, Rikti sword with two hands (Katana user). Or hell, even someone wielding that same weapon, a Carnie rapier with two-hands is going to do less damage than a Broadsword user using the exact same weapon.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    This isn't D&D.

We already have an arrow doing as much damage as a machine gun. It's a convention of the comic book genre that all attacks have the same basic damage. You might as well ask why don't villains just shoot Batman in the face.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Pretty much. Lets take a look at the Carnie Rapier and Rikti Sword, for example:

In that example, the person using the Carnie Rapier might have had it specially enchanted to make it more damaging. Or they might have had years of training, giving them the innate ability to strike at an enemies weak points, allowing them to do far more damage then the guy wielding the Rikti Sword. The Rapier may be a physical manifestation of the persons Spiritual Energy, only making it *LOOK* like a Carnie Rapier (But still providing massive damage)...

There are plenty of justifiable reasons for why it may happen, and CoH/V *allows* us to give any reason we want. Just like comic books.

*Sigh* I Was hoping for twin daggers instead of twin saber types.. (or longswords?) Ah well, it still does look interesting enough for me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Keep in mind that it's no guarantee that's what ALL Dual Blades will look like. (Example: Scrapper Claws look different then Stalker Claws)
  11. Interesting...

...Wasn't South America where Recluse originally was during the original "Teasers" for City of Villains? (When the group was called S.P.I.D.E.R.)
  12. [ QUOTE ]
It's because dual-wielding weapons is inherently cool.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Quoted for Emphasis.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
You did however miss the entire point of my OP. I DID NOT say to stop working on dual blades. I said to make it a villain (brute and stalker) only power because the taking of human lives goes against the super hero code and Paragon Cities own "Citizen Crime Fighting Act of 1937".

    [/ QUOTE ]

Except Heroes can use Dual Blades too and NOT kill.

1: We're not fighting ordinary, everyday muggers here. Every villain we fight has some sort of ability that makes them greater then a common person. (Even the sissy villains, like Hellions and Skulls).

2: There are examples of Heroic characters who wield swords and don't kill. For example, Kenshin Himura (From Rurouni Kenshin) wielded a "reverse blade sword" (The sharp edge was on the INSIDE of the curve of the katana). Instead, he used the blunt edge (Which was where the sharp edge would normally be) to defeat people without killing (Due to his vow not to take another human life).

Meanwhile, In Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Raiden can flip his sword around and use the blunt side to clobber people, thus taking them down without killing them.

The problem is ONLY that scrappers, as an AT, don't need more blades; they have already got claws, katana, and broadsword. What scrappers need is more unarmed combat, probably, or something "different". Stalkers also are fairly well stocked with blades, having ninja blade and claws, but having a 3rd option works well for them.

But Brutes and Tankers can definitely use the Blades option! Neither has any (well, Tankers have Axe, if that counts, but it doesn't really).

    [/ QUOTE ]

Right. And you know what would have happened if they had simply announced that Dual Blades were only coming for Tankers and Brutes?

You guessed it! We would be hearing cries of complaint from people demanding that Stalkers and Scrappers should get Dual Blades too.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
There's all of zero need to have more than one melee weapon power in the game, and more than one ranged. Game effects can be identical - all that matters between them is the animation.

    [/ QUOTE ]

...Right, because theres absolutely no difference between wielding a sword and wielding a mace, or between firing a gun and shooting with a bow and arrow. [/sarcasm]

    Very nice issue once again.

    Posi is obviously the highlight.

    What is "beer-can chicken"?

Also a bit surprised that they don't identify issue titles with pieces of literature! I thought that was a little 'metagame' with the players.

Also, rock on Lord Infamy. I also have a Plant/Thorns soon to be Mako, woot!

    Great work!

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'd assumed this little doohickey that you ram up the open end of the chicken and then stand over an open can of beer/soda/whatever.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You don't even need the little doohicky. Beercan chicken is essentially where you put the chicken on a Barbecue Grill with a can of Beer (Or soda, or juice, or whatever) and cook it, so the liquid evaporates and soaks into the chicken, adding to it's flavor.

In fact, Steven Raichlen (Who does the excellent "The Barbecue Bible" cookbooks, which I highly recomend to anyone who loves to barbecue) has a book devoted to Beercan Chicken recipies (As well as other offbeat grilling types)

How many clones does that guy have?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    He's Wolverine.

He has as many clones needed to make Marvel the fat american loot.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
A clone of Wolverine. I should have guessed

Is that the same woman that featured in the X-Men 2 movie? The one with spikes coming out of her fingers?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    No, that was Lady Deathstrike

So how do I arrest someone with a pair of knives?

    [/ QUOTE ]

You don't. Look at your system tab some time.

Seriously people... Where did this "arrest" phenomenon come from? There is nothing about it in the game anywhere that I can think of.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Because as Heroes, we can legally fight crime in Paragon City because we are forced to follow certain procedures (Much like the cops).
  21. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
I'd say there are more precedents for dual blade-wielding comic book characters than for clawed ones or hammer users. I can't think of any mace-users offhand, but there might be one.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, about that. Other than Wolverine, is there even ONE other character in a comic book anywhere to use claws from the hands? I'm seriously asking here, because I don't know of any.

    [/ QUOTE ]

  22. [ QUOTE ]
So how do I arrest someone with a pair of knives? Stab them till they are almost dead? It seems to me that for every comic book "hero" who kills people, there are 100 who refuse to take a life. Yet CoH is filled with gun toting, axe murdering "heroes".

The name of the game is "City of Heroes" people. Not, "City of Dark Heroes", "City of Murdering Heroes" or "City of Anti-Heroes". Hell, they already made City of Villains for you folks, now hows about something for the good guys.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    [ QUOTE ]
    4. Hockey Stick. Some one mentioned that Leonardo used dual blades, well Casey Jones used a slap shot to fight crime.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Uh huh. And Casey Jones was also a Vigilante, who would severely beat criminals (Even accidently killing a mugger in the old Mirage comics). So that kind of scuttles the whole "Non Dark Hero" thing.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
Well I understand the playerbase want angle on the debate, but I do have to counter with the notion that it should also stay true to the theme of the game. Yes there are weapon weilding characters in comics, but they are in the minority. The game represents this with Braodsword/Katana/Ninja/Mace/Axe/Claws and such. If anything they might be missing a hammer, shield and maybe a staff. But another sword? I'll use the set anyways, like I try most sets anyways, but I got to admit at least for my play experience I really stay away from the weapon Sets and go for the Powered ones.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And yet whenever anyone mentions Dual Pistols as a full powerset (And not just as as three powers for the Thugs Mastermind), you never hear "What's so great about having a second gun?".
  24. [ QUOTE ]
not to mention the animation will be ripped from the exsisting powersets making it not even close to being new.

i look at it as a iron blade temp power gone wild..it wont be flashy, neat or cool..it'll be simple im sure

    [/ QUOTE ]

...Have you even BOTHERED to read anything the Dev's have said about Dual Blades? They already said it was having new animations.
  25. [ QUOTE ]
I can't think of any mace-users offhand, but there might be one.
