Quote:First thing that came to mind was 'Trenchcoat' with perhaps some work boots or something rather than *just* the pants.I appreciate the feedback, but the fault you described with the costume is pretty much what I was going for
I wanted a heavy contrast between the suit, high-tech / low-tech so to speak.
I basically wanted the ultra-sleek tech-suit, but coupled it with something to make it more combat looking, thus the pants.
And thanks for the powers advice, you're right in that my ideas would probably change as more info comes out about KM, I was just having fun pondering.
I suppose the difference I'm seeing is 'contrast' vs 'juxtapose'. Two different elements can be completely different yet compliment eachother but the example you posted seems to keep them 'too separate'. A sleeveless jacket or some shoulder element might help.
IMO, tho. I'm not that good at making costumes but I know what I like. Yours just doesn't appeal to much of anything -
One day, in the near future, you too will feel the cold, intrusive, flexibly elongated, sticky grip of the Interwebz wriggling inside your brain to forever taint you for the rest of your days, GG! I swear it!

Quote:I'm doubting normal punches and kicks are lower tier attacks considering everyone has them. Those would be the equivalent of 'brawl'. Now combining flight and brawl for those over-the-top smash-the-guy-in-a-mountain attacks would probably be something of a tiered attack.Depends on how far back you go. It depends pretty heavily on whether you consider the beginning of Dragonball to be the equivalent to level 1 of the character (or consider him to already have been at a reasonable level at that point) or considering Dragonball Z to be the starting point. Even so, the fact that you would call the Kamehameha a special attack indicated that it wouldn't be one of his low tier attacks because it doesn't form the foundation of his combat style. Those attacks would be his normal punches and kicks.
Considering when the attack was obtained and how multi-functional it is, is why I'd say the ki blasts along with the kamehameha are low tier special (primary/secondary) attacks. -
Quote:And then there's the free crit and extra crit available that rarely gets mentioned in these scenarios. That has to count for something too.
As I said, hypothetical best case scenario; if I recall correctly, the radius of the passive is comparable to Grant Cover (or was it Phalanx Fighting?), and thus you're unlikely to have the ranged toons on your team close enough to benefit from them at all times.
Quote:At least on a Stalker it doesn't unhide you (not that it makes sense, the power is just a bit flashy lol) so you can get a Thunderstrike crit or an AS (better if you have a defensive secondary for AS)
For my Elec/Regen Stalker, I rp that he creates a huge electric construct of himself that blows up when he makes contact with the ground. Again, it'd be hard for the enemy to pinpoint my guy if he was inside a giant lightbulb that went boom before they could see him...they only saw the giant lightbulb from the start. -
LOL I was just clarifying the difference between Clamps and
Jumper cables.

Quote:How many times has the numbers been crunched? Seriously. I recall the comparison resulting in overall equivalence considering the Scrapper just does *more* damage from the start and +dmg bonuses on top make it better. At peak performance? At peak performance a Brute will be at the damage cap where they'll do much more damage than a Scrapper.
IIRC, a Brute matches Scrapper damage at 80% Fury. At the damage cap they'll do much more damage than a Scrapper.
The Brute might eek out a bit more damage at the cap, but constantly being up there is not easy nor guaranteed. Just like there is randomness in a Scrap's crits, there are factors with a Brute's dmg cap that ultimately puts them on even footing.
Also, in DPS comparisons, number crunchers tend to wrap crits into that which discounts the nature of crits. It's an attack that does *double damage*. It surpasses damage caps. It gives you something besides DPS. It's called Burst Damage. -
Well you kept begging the question >_>
As proof (perfectly safe link): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Nippleclamps.jpg
Same type structure you kept going on about. It's obvious Spoony keeps a set of large nipple clamps for skits like that. Problem solved -
-
Quote:I told you already. They go on the nipples.Although, that still doesn't solve the problem of why the end bits, which should be metal, so as to make the connection, are covered in rubber/plastic, and the handle bits, which should be covered in rubber/plastic for protection, are in fact metal - even for mad science, it looks shockingly dangerous.
Don't make me post pics >_> -
Quote:I'd suggest getting a new costume >_>I'm considering a Kinetic Melee Brute. I was wondering what secondary would work well for it. Willpower, as usual, will probably be awesome. Energy Aura will probably match KM aesthetically, but I can't stand it, even after the recent buff. Invulnerability sounds like it could be really powerful on a Brute, so I'm considering that pretty strongly.
Hm....KM/Will or KM/Invul? At least I have a couple of months to decide.
Edit: And if anyone can help with a concept, I've already got a costume ready to go for my KM Brute, I'm thinking he looks more Willpower that anything else:

It's like you took 2 heroes, chopped them at the waist and then flip-flopped their halves.
Secondly, I'd suggest waiting on more info before trying to pinpoint a power combo. You don't know what the secondary effects are. Could be -dmg, could be a variety of siphon effects, +rech or even +dmg. The only thing we've seen is the Knock- but Castle already said there's more to it.
I'd just as soon suggest Shield Defense with an energy elemental shield than the combos you're pondering. Unless you're not looking for synergy...but then you didn't provide a concept either... -
I'm always an advocate of posting suggestions or ideas. Besides, it's more fun if there's leeway in the idea so people responding can suggest stuff to add or change.
If you get people jumping down your throat (while being perfectly civil about criticism) you can PM me, I'll play devil's advocate if need be -

For an idea about 'making origins matter', I'd say start by finding out what people would accept as a possible 'loss' since if origin let you gain something they'll react as if you lose something (even if you had the option to choose).
What about origin letting you combat certain enemy factions easier? Like what if Rikti (sans AVs) for whatever reason had trouble vs Magic origin character? But vs Natural origin character, the Rikti would have an easier time.
Or what if your origin let you choose (or not choose) an AT bias killer stat? Like, as a Magic origin character, you can choose an 'occult hunter' type trait that gave you an edge when battling magic origin foes or a 'power mastery' type trait for an edge against mutation type enemies.
What the specific 'edge' either of those ideas would actually be is up in the air. But it couldn't be 'gamed' by the player *if* there is a proper spread of enemy factions in the game. If nothing more, the above could stimulate the desire for more faction variety.
As for the age old 'You can't change origins' argument; well, provide the tech so you *can* rechoose origin (if only for characters currently created). Heck, even add a means for picking 'dual origins' so there'd be even more options and possible ways to customize characters. -

Ah, that's right. Now that I think about it, it doesn't matter which Patron you choose, they unlock all the pools, correct?
-
I have a magic Spines/Dark stalker that uses Mace Mastery. Technically, the mace is a mystical ceremonial 'scythe' that he's searched for for ages and uses it to project his dark powers in an energetic offensive way. Since it's ceremonial, he wouldn't try 'hitting' anyone with it.
Since we can't customize the pools (yet), I just say it's a ceremonial 'weapon' and it works just fine. The only reason he even agreed to help Black Scorp is for access to an endless warehouse of spiderling skeletons he can puppeteer with his shadow powers. -
I'm curious about /pain myself.
But to answer one of your questions, no power boost does not increase +regen. -
I play stalkers and I play blasters. While they fulfill the same offensive role (burst damage), there are no other parallels in their powers, effects or styles.

Quote:On that Aion vid, I believe it's sped up. If you turn up the volume, I think that's the sound of the buttons being pressed by the player. They sound pretty frantic so I'd assume it's not normal speed.
I've never played Aion, as you probably guessed, but I found this vid. Honestly I find that staff-fighting style a bit too fast and flashy - it's so fast it might as well be entirely particle effects. If you can look past the ancient graphics on this DAoC vid of a Friar, I'd rather the stave fighting was more that style (watch the fight about 20secs into the vid), with animations closer to that speed (just without those pauses between attacks so that it flows better, like Dual Blades does here) - to give that feeling of real weight to each move, so that when you spin around and jab the staff in your target's guts (that was always my favourite move) you really get the impression you're clobbering them. I think that would work well for a natural fighting style, then the Devs could add lots of staff weapons with particle effects for more tech/magical staves, and maybe give us some alternate animations for more of a 2-handed spear/polearm-fighting style.
The 2nd vid of DAoC, those animations are very vanilla and...bad. No flavor at all and, what, 3 different looking attacks with 2 being bland 'pokes'? Hardly anything to write home about. -
Quote:Sometimes...I worry about you, Sam >_>Actually, I'm not. Due to the bizarre way their sliders are rigged, I've never been able to produce anything that's reasonably pleasing to look at outside of the most directly default model, and even then it's so-so. Our last-generation stiff graphics still eke out in front, in my eyes.
And if you see any puns in the above, they weren't intentional. -
Quote:Well, Stalkers have no qualms ganking their own. Maybe you'll enjoy your ASNo, you didn't read my earlier posts :P. I actually LIKE Stalkers and I play them. It's Just that most people don't so... I was just letting wolf know it's understandable she doesn't like them...
To be honest I respect that but I'm still curious about why so many people tend to shy away from stalkers.
But I've just gotten used to looking past AT bias. Now that I can say I play all the melee ATs at least somewhat proficiently, it's all gravy to me. Hyping up one or talking down another, all 4 are just as good as the other. -
