Philotic, devs have said time and time again over the years that they can't have more than one event running at a time.
Now, one every hour is entirely possible. -
How to set up the Steam overlay and use voice chat in COH, even if you didn't buy it from the Steam store.
-
[ QUOTE ]
Can we purchase MA through steam and attach it to our current existing account?
[/ QUOTE ]
That's my question at well. -
There are five false positives for ELMA. Three from @Steelman, two from @Delmain, and an arc with 'Thelma' in the title. So Steelman and Delmain's arcs will always be considered Elseworld Arcs..?
-
[ QUOTE ]
ELMA?
[/ QUOTE ]
Thelma, SteelMan... before you ask, "EWMA" returns BrewMaster, Crewman, Newman... -
[ QUOTE ]
Will the search function pick up the "+" ?
[/ QUOTE ]
No, it won't; it also won't pick up ~ | \ ' - . ( ) [ ]... I'm betting it filters anything besides A-Z 0-9 -
Twoflower, ELSA returns several false positives right now (it's a common name in Spanish, plus Velsa, Chelsa, etc)
Remember the search finds fragments of words, not whole words. Has to be something that isn't part of a common word. -
What would be the tag for "Solo Friendly Mission Arc"? SOMA?
Turg, your 2-letter tags would return too many "false hits" when searching for them. -
We need a way to clear the Complaints list after we've addressed them. Save them for Customer Support, but my latest arc now has an ugly "COMPLAINTS" button which when clicked, helpfully says:
[ QUOTE ]
This story has received the following complaints:
* Unable to complete last mission. Destructible object did not spawn. Burning forest map.
[/ QUOTE ]
Duly noted. I already tried to fix it by setting all 3 spawns separately and with different objects and with different placements. Let me get rid of that darn message? I would very much like to see a *new* complaint next time I see the "COMPLAINTS" button, not the same one over and over. It's quite annoying. -
Anyone run into a problem where you have more than one destructible object and not all spawn? My second arc has 3 destructible objects in the last mission and I already got 2 complaints that the mission can't be completed because one of the generators does not spawn. @Ullikummis thinks two of them may be spawning at the same location and to look for double defenders. Since it's an outdoor map, I don't think setting one to front, one to middle and one to back will help, but I tried anyway.

Holy <bleep!>, Angry_Citizen likes something.
I'M NOT READY FOR THE APOCALYPSE!!!!

That sounds like something any number of amateur coders could write; maybe you should look for a member of the community who would be interested in that? It's a pretty good idea, I think.

Converting the data from .cohdemo format to .costume format is piece of cake; the problem is that once you convert those, you realize the game needs *other* data not on the .cohdemo format in order to load the file.
Specifically, the .cohdemo format includes fx, Geometry, Texture1, Texture2, Color1, Color2, Color3, Color4. In order to load them you also need RegionName, BodySetName and probably DisplayName. You could grab a huge list of values to match based on what you know from the .cohdemo file (and is what I was planning to do) but I really have no time to do it at the moment (huge amount of work this week.) -

I noticed that Rularuu Natterlings available from 41-54 have vanished from the custom group creator
[/ QUOTE ]
Separate problem. Natterlings have a power called "Merge" that allows them to combine with another Natterling to make a Bull Natterling. If you placed a Natterling as a player ally in the mission and it got hurt, it would combine... with the player. Killing it instantly. -
[ QUOTE ]
What was the exploit? I assume since it's fixed now it's OK to discuss?

The Rikti from the mothership gave 2X XP. Word got out very, VERY quickly. Freedom was full of 'rikti doll farms' the entire weekend. -
Mission Planner: an offline editor for .storyarc files, work in progress. http://www.missionplanner.com.ar/
-
You can play the file in the Issue 8 client (December 2006) with no crashes. Some costume pieces will be missing, but all the NPCs will work.
So, copy your current COH folder somewhere else for backup. Install the GVE CD over your existing copy of COH. Run the demo and record the resulting video. Once you're happy with the result, restore your COH backup.
May want to move the COH folder with the GVE data file somewhere else if you ever need to use an old version again. -
In the only villain arc I'm planning at the moment, I use an inanimate object as the contact (a computer console) and set the entire "contact" dialog to be the villain's inner thoughts to set his own scheme in motion. There's no third party involved, the contact dialog just comments on mission progress; "kind of" like how the newspaper missions are set up, but with an actual plot behind it.

I did a Google News search for "City of Heroes Mission Architect" and one of the articles that came up was this:

Are you hoping to convince us you're not a regular reader of GeekSugar?

I'm not a regular reader of anything other than Google News. I even made myself a T-Shirt to show my love to the world: http://s55.photobucket.com/albums/g1...tlz/Image3.png -

I'm willing to listen to ideas on how truly horrible content can get rated without having to endure all of it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Maybe give the player an incentive for rating an arc they played all the way through? If you rate an arc without playing it, you get nothing; if you rate it after completing some missions, you get a number of architect tickets per mission completed (say, 2 tickets if you completed only the first mission, 10 if you completed all five); that way, someone would have an incentive to actually *play* the mission rather than blind-rating, at least giving it a honest shot before deciding it's horrible. It won't prevent someone from rate-griefing if that's truly what they want to do, but I don't think there's anything that can be done to prevent that. Of course such an incentive should apply only once per arc. -
I did a Google News search for "City of Heroes Mission Architect" and one of the articles that came up was this:
http://www.geeksugar.com/2859675
The last line caught my attention: "Personally, I'm excited for this new edition of City of Heroes, which will be available March 12 on your PC or Mac. Are you already a City of Heroes fan?"
That's... only two weeks away. I see Open Beta happening by then, but release? Already? -
[ QUOTE ]
I thought the video was pretty funny, and completely uninformative.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, at least you thought it was funny. I watched about halfway through then skipped ahead to the end and deleted the file. Having as the "hero" the kind of character that I absolutely _avoid_ playing with ("let's do something easy, I want loot") does not make me laugh, it makes me roll my eyes and see what else is there to watch. -

Heres another interview, from Allakhazam, some nice insights and apparently the devs will be using the MA to make missions in the future (and that when they get new tools for it, they will be passed onto the players).
[/ QUOTE ]
So wait, if they start giving the playerbase 100% content and creative control, then what will be the reason for us to pay $14.95?
[/ QUOTE ]
Duh, access to those tools. If you don't pay your $14.95, how are you going to use the Architect? -

I do have a question though; if this goes into open beta (as opposed to going directly to live)... does the content created there go to the cross-server format (thereby being available as soon as live hits) or will 'test' *content have to be recreated once i14 goes active?
[/ QUOTE ]
I would imagine that, just like everything else made on the Test Server, that it will be completely separate from the Live servers. The Test Server has its own market server and global chat server separate from Live; I can't imagine the server that stores MA arcs and content would be any different from those.
[/ QUOTE ]
You forget, the arcs will be stored locally in your hard drive for testing purposes. So you don't have to recreate the arc -- just load the files you created on Test on your Live client, and publish it. -
[ QUOTE ]
OK... people who are asking about green-screening... would it work to create a green picture, use Leandro's Splasher to replace one of the huge billboards, then have your character animate in front of one?
[/ QUOTE ]
That's pretty much it. A fully lit SG base room would work even better.
[ QUOTE ]
Oh, and D_R.. you ROCK!
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, she does. -
I vote either 30 minutes unenhanceable recharge, or 1 hour enhanceable recharge. Preferably the last; I strongly dislike powers with unenhanceable recharge.
I was really looking forward to this power, but I have to side with those who think a 2 hour recharge is way, way too long.
