The performance shifter set in stamina would also give some ok set bonuses but it is fairly expensive, if not so much as numina's.

Also, since stamina and health are auto powers that have no recharge or end cost most of the enhancement value provided by the heal and end mod sets would be wasted. Unless you want the set bonuses, these sets are best used in actual clicky heal or end powers.
That being said, you can pick up the +chance for Endurance proc from Performance Shifter for only 125 merits at a vendor and a straight endmod from the same set and plug both of those into Stamina for the 2-piece set bonus. Granted this is only a +5% to all movement speeds, but it is a bonus.

Another reason most people tend to slot level 30-ish IO sets when possible is because that level scales the best for exemplaring/malefactoring down. A person with all level 50 IO's has the best bonuses from their enhancements, but they only get the full effect exactly at level 50. Being dragged down a few levels doesn't hurt the bonuses much, but being dragged down a dozen or more levels below the level of the IO starts to REALLY cut the effective bonus from it down.
  2. Unmentioned fixes:

Organic Armor and Bioluminate tails now ATTACH to the character model properly instead of floating over the belts creating a gap between character and tail! Yay!

The devs have stated many times that ALL Archetypes will be able to switch sides. The only restriction is that Soldiers of Arachnos and Kheldians will NOT be able to start in Praetoria and will have to start on their native sides. meaning levels 1-20 as any Epic AT's will be done in the default zones IF entry to Praetoria is locked until level 20 or higher....

For them to talk about the first incarnate level being in GR how many months ago, they should have been very confident it was good to go, now a month before release, its suddenly too broken to put in?
I think we'd ALL prefer that they get everything working on-time as much as possible, but sometimes that doesn't work out. You think you have it bad what with being told that it will be a few more months until the incarnate system is brought out? Think for a few minutes and remember that sometimes quality control needs to take precedence over something that was only openly promoted at ONE event and never mentioned anywhere else.

How about a different example: Team Fortress 2. First announced back in the 90's with preview screenshots and all....then vanished into the land of vaporware and often mentioned in the same breath as Duke Nukem Forever as 'games that will never come out.' And then it finally came out as part of the Orange Box in 2007 and blew people's minds with how good it was (and still is) compared to EVERYTHING ELSE on the same level. Valve is well-known for delaying their games, the finished products are always worth the wait. It's refreshing to see a developer taking the Valve approach of 'we can't release this in an unfinished state, people will hate it' instead of 'ohfuckit'snotreadyandthedeadline'stomorrowquicksh oveitinthecodeandfixitlatersonobodycomplainsitisn' tthere!'

Hopefully the situation improves as they move forward.
Actually, I believe that the reason for Ultra Mode being released as part of i17 was because it was ready to go live earlier than expected. UM was NEVER intended to be part of the paid-for GR experience, it was meant to be part of the issue that came with GR.

Put the GR paid expansion aside - what are players getting this year for their subscription money? Ultramode which is bascially some shadows and reflections, the COP trial which was supposed to be out several years ago, and a few new 'mirror' missions. That's pretty bad, imo. Now if you buy the paid expansion, it looks like we'll get some new zones and lvl 1-20 content, side switching missions, and four new powersets. Not bad, but nothing overwhelming considering its a paid expansion, especially now that one of the more interesting features that expanded playability for level 50 characters has been pulled indefinitely. And just look at a feature that is being reintroduced at the same time (cop trial) to see how long indefinitely can be in this game.
According to the main site for the game, Issue 18 will include a brand-new open-world mission generation system in addition to the standard radio missions whereby defeating foes above the level 20 range can randomly give you a new mission instead of having to visit a contact. Some of these may even be full-blown story arcs tied to the faction. This is new, this is good, this is big. Also there's nothing saying that issue 19 will not be out this year. is there a possibility that we will not see it this year? Yes, of course, but at the same time I'd rather have a polished and complete system for 'post-50' advancement in one bundle myself rather than a little brown turd that doesn't stand up on its own well that the team has to finish polishing to get it perfectly compatible with the rest of the system that could very well change between GR's release and issue 19. After all, a turd's a turd no matter how much you polish it.

First off it's 'unwavering' Mr. Smarty-pants. Secondly, for some of us this is the only MMO that has ever kept their attention for any appreciable amount of time. I've tried Chumps. I've tried WoW. I've tried FFXI. All of them just plain suck in comparison. As for your other gripes, allow me to quote a famous Russian:

    Cry some more.
  5. With all that has been said already, it's still very easy to make homage-type characters who are recognizable to the right people without them being outright copies. Most of my characters I don't bother making a bio for so it's not like the bio is going to be even remotely similar to that of a character I copy.

Of course, I only have one character with a costume that could be considered as copyrighted, and thus far nobody's said a thing about seeing her running around. I have a folder on Deviantart with images taken from either the costume creator or the character selection screen showing my attempts at making a design loosesly approaching various known looks, and some of them are actually pretty well done in my opinion. I would never play some of them though.

I think I'm pretty safe, since only one actually made it past the 'screenshot of costume creator' stage.

I typically run missions where all I will see is red and purple enemies, and (i am newly returned to the game) spawning at 4-5 team size.

That being said, I always tell teams with which I play that I will only heal them if they are close enough to my minions to catch the heal. Typically I am playing within melee range, and so the only characters stupid enough to not catch the heal are ranged characters too dumb to move in close and stop aggroing everything that breaths, or melee ATs that run away.

I do a very good job at keeping people alive, don't get me wrong; however, there are inevitably people who scream when they die, and complain that I didn't heal them fast enough, or rez them at the time and place of their choosing. To these complainers, I have one, and only one response:

"I can make more experience per hour soloing my missions than I can teaming with people who are dumber than my pets. Why would I waste my heals on someone I cannot control with my 15-odd macros?"

I don't mean to sound bitter, but you players need to realize that MMs are built to heal and/or protect their pets, not heal/protect players (although this happens all the time). While most MM players suck, there is a small percentage that simply make a judgement call, and decide that the survival of their minion will help their team more than the survival of you.
While I wholeheartedly agree with this statement, there are times when your pets simply do not survive.

My only 50 right now is a Necro/PD/SM and I like to THINK that I can play effectively, but the truth is I've been playing the game for just over a year and have no clue how to properly even start to deck her out with sets and bonuses to be as effective as possible.

My usual routine is to pop WoP on the entire group for a nice buff before rushing into a good sized spawn with my pets on bodyguard, only to let out an Anguishing Cry to call in aggro and debuff. I then stand around firing off SM's hold and the occasional soothe on pets and players. It tends to work well.

On the other hand, Poison is a different beast entirely and I don't know how well I'd do with it...yet.
  7. So the 4850HD is the baseline for the newest graphical update to the game to come at some future point?

Excellent, that means I won't have to worry about adding anything to this beast* for another year, except maybe RAM. That means more money to spend elsewhere, like preordering Going Rogue

    Costume issue

Okay, I should probably make this short and simple.

Sleeveless Robes + Tattered Sleeves + Warrior Fire + Sinister Plates = Sinister plates floating about an arm's width behind where they should be on the shoulders of the female model.

Needless to say, this is odd at the very least. This is especially true considering that it only happens with Sinister Plates and caught my eye as I was scrolling through my options.

It's also one of the only truly obvious bugs with the new Martial Arts set items.

Edit: Also, Braided Buns does not scale to accommodate the 'Youthful' selection in head shapes.
  9. Six-month vet here (Wow, big whoop) and I have to say that I definitely intend to continue playing the game for a long time to come.

That being said, it's a bit annoying to note that I still have around 21 months to go before I can even look at the Anime costume pieces in a way that will actually tell me if I LIKE them or not. Screenshots of them do nothing for me because screenshots do not tell me how they will look on a toon that I already know they MIGHT look appropriate for.

Another thing that REALLY annoys me is how your 'pending vet rewards' are viewable the second you pay for time in advance. I decided sometime in early January that this game could definitely hold my attention for 6 months and gladly decided to pay for 6 months up front, getting a seventh free in the process.

Of course, I was billed for TWO six month periods at the same time which came as a shock and left me with almost no money for a week because I didn't know it would do that since I had only wanted to buy ONE six month subscription and had planned to decide after that time as to continuing to pay for the ability to play this game. Still a little bitter about getting a one-year plan without planning to.

Enough with that tangent, I would gladly pay for a subscription for the next three years in advance if I knew the game would continue to exist for that long, I really would. The sad fact is that even though I would LOVE to do that if it would do such, common sense keeps me from making that kind of leap of faith. If I pay for three years worth of subscriptions and NCsoft decides to close the game down in 18 months; there's no guarantee that I'll get my money back for the time payed that cannot be played.

Now, if I could pay the same amount for three years in advance and check a box on the payment form that said "One year with accelerated veteran unlocked rewards" I would do it the second I had the money because that would mean I'd unlock the most important options faster: COSTUME PIECES!

I swear that I will demand a refund for any paid subsciption time yet unused if they EVER lock future costume pieces or any other aspect of customizing the way a character looks and the limitations thereof to vet rewards. Costumes and near-complete character customization are what I really enjoy the most of this game. Issue 16 has ensured that I will be around for a long time as long as the devs don't screw up.

I buy the booster packs because it gives me more choices. I would pay $100 for a booster pack simply to get all the Vet costume pieces right now, and if I decided that they don't work for my current characters I wouldn't complain a bit. The FACT that I have to wait so long to even TRY those costume pieces is irritating, especially when I already have a few characters that I know I would love to use the Boxing gloves on, but I won't be able to do that for another 33 months! I would have to wait and HOPE that the game is still around in three years to even be able to see how my martial arts character would look with a proper sparring outfit using the boxing gloves as a close approximation.

I've played "Pay and Hope" before with another company and another game, and when I found out that 3D Realms went under I tried to get a refund. I'm not taking that kind of chance again, so the devs here lose out on money up front because there's no guarantee whatsoever that if I pay up front that the game will stay around for that length of time.

Granted it's not quite the same as being stunlocked in development hell for long enough to be considered less tangible than the basic concepts of quantum physics....
  10. I have to say it, if they ever get around to giving mastermind players the ability to change the look of their pets, I may never use the original costume I made for (The Unholy) Rot That Walks. I would constantly keep her in the costume that looks the most like Zoey from Left 4 Dead and have her undead summoning powers call forth Louis, Bill, and Francis as zombies dressed to resemble those characters as well, since they are already named as such.

Not sure what I'd be able to do for the Grave Knights named Smoker and Boomer....or the Lich, but the main joke would be there.
  11. YMMV = Your mileage may vary.

In other words: Don't expect what works perfectly well for me to work just as well for you.

Edit: Wow......three responses to the same question in as many minutes. You can really tell when the game's down. XD
