Whips are definitely in. BaB on Twitter:
'Testing whip animations in game, considering making that the method for upgrading demonic henchmen as well. *CRACK* Be stronger!!' -
Thank you for this thread, EU boards people!

ARGGGHHH!!!
Damn you, I should have thought of that.
[/ QUOTE ]
You're welcome.
I don't think Ghost Widow really works as the Hanged Man, because she's, well, a woman. She makes a far better Death.
I'd suggest having Lord Recluse as the Emperor, and Statesman as the Hanged Man. That may seem strange at first glance, but... remember Issue 2 of the Top Cow comic?
Here's a link to it. States does the whole suspended-upside-down bit, as a voluntary exercise to gain insight. That is PURE Hanged Man symbolism. -

Nothing new, but a nice massively feature: http://www.massively.com/2009/07/26/sdcc...-con/#continued
edit: Though is that a new Super Strength animation in the screenshot?

Anyone else see the sign that read 'Ask about the City of Heroes Guest Author program'? -
Reinvent the early game experience?
Sounds good to me. -
[ QUOTE ]
The community's consensus on Architect projects is infinitely more interesting than the developers' stated intentions.
[/ QUOTE ]
What, 'L54 boss farm lf tank'?
[ QUOTE ]
Frankly, after that asinine backstory they stuck on it any authorial privilege went straight into the dustbin.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, if we're picking and choosing from established canon to suit ourselves...
[ QUOTE ]
The devs can definitively state they won't be incorporating any player-created content into their own continuity, but that doesn't affect how individual players view it.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think we can safely say that definitive statements don't have much bearing on individual tastes, no matter who makes them. -
[ QUOTE ]
I'd love to see a Venture review of that!
[/ QUOTE ]
It's not the same if you do it on purpose. -
[ QUOTE ]
Yeah and the whole "AE is all a video game" is a cop-out to explain how all the various arcs people create within the canon world can contradict each other.
[/ QUOTE ]
Be that as it may, it's a canonical cop-out. The AE is a simulator, and what happens inside it isn't real.
[ QUOTE ]
It was my understanding that the general consensus is that arcs are to be treated as if they were "real" unless they are obviously set outside the CoH multiverse, flagged "non-canon" or the dialogue indicates that the arc is a simulation.
[/ QUOTE ]
That may be the informal player consensus, but I see no reason to insist that any one mission writer has to abide by that.
If you accept AE as exactly what the canon says it is (a simulator) then what Blight does with your character is perfectly fair. You might not LIKE it, but no overt rules have been broken. I could write an arc in which the AE treated you as a sentient crystal-wielding megapony from the planet Squee, and it would still fit completely with what the AE is deemed to be.
[ QUOTE ]
Treating everything as "just a simulation" when many arcs could easily fit into the game world lessens the impact of those arcs, IMO.
[/ QUOTE ]
We might like to think of the arcs as part of the canon, but it's been spelled out to us that they aren't. Hero 1:
'Stories picked as Dev Choice, will not become canon in our game. If and I mean IF that ever were to happen, it would have to be a pretty big deal.' -

SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAADAKOOOOOOOOOOOO.

*crawls out of the TV*
OK, what's the problem? Aha...
[ QUOTE ]
Basically, I want to know how Reichsman apparently made such a huge difference in Axis America's World War II when Statesman didn't seem to have as much an impact in primal earth's World War II.
[/ QUOTE ]
We know that Reichsman used his powers 'in the service of the Axis powers on his world, leading them to victory over their foes.' That doesn't mean that Reichsman alone made the difference between victory and defeat for the Axis powers, only that he was in a position of leadership in the field.
I think it's a safe assumption that other heroes of the time threw their lot in with the Axis in that world, much like the way Praetoria contains evil, 'mirror' versions of not only Statesman but the entire Freedom Phalanx. Unfortunately we know very little about these potential Axis versions of our well-known Primal Earth heroes.
Even in Primal Earth, we had the Storm Korps led by Eisensturm, who dealt serious damage to the Allies (even kidnapping the King of England at one stage). Perhaps the Axis America version of the Storm Korps was even more fearsome.
In fact, if you wanted to look for a single moment when the whole conflict hung in the balance, then the clash between the Dawn Patrol and the Storm Korps would be it:
[ QUOTE ]
The most daring Storm Korps raid came within a hair's breadth of striking a tremendous blow against British morale. Three Storm Korps super soldiers, led by the nefarious Eisensturm, managed to breach Buckingham Palace's defenses and kidnap his royal highness the King of England. Alistair Sutton, leader of the Dawn Patrol, chased the kidnappers down and fought Eisensturm to a standstill in the Scottish Highlands. He bought enough time for the rest of the Dawn Patrol to arrive and help rescue the captured monarch from the hands of fascist villainy. It was shortly after this that American victories in Africa drew off much of the Storm Korps' resources and many credit Sutton's victory over Eisensturm as the turning point of the war for Great Britain and the Dawn Patrol.
[/ QUOTE ]
Perhaps in Axis America the leader of the Storm Korps was not Eisensturm but Reichsman. Reichsman would have been far more able to deal with Sutton, and the whole kidnapping plot that failed in Primal Earth would have succeeded in Axis America, dealing a fatal blow to British morale.
If Britain had fallen in this way, the American heroes would have been stretched far too thin, and Axis morale would have been at its height. The Fifth Column in America would have been reinforced, leading to eventual Axis victory there.
Hope that helps. -
I liked it, I had a lot of fun playing it, and I am not inclined to pick it to bits.

I have to lay this problem squarely at the feet of the devs. The only option authors have is just to not use those tags at all in critter dialog, which seems unfairly limiting.
[/ QUOTE ]
You can restrict yourself only to using those tags at places where the critter will unquestionably be targeting the player. -
[ QUOTE ]
Might have something to do with stealth powers?
[/ QUOTE ]
Could well be. I ran the entire thing with Steamy Mist up and frequent Stealth bonuses from IO set boosted teleportation.
[ QUOTE ]
I apologize about it, but it's sort of out of my hands.
[/ QUOTE ]
No need to apologize! Just wanting to help. -
I thought there were some very clever uses of the MA to achieve storytelling effects, such as using the 'captive sees you / captive rescued / captive abandoned / captive re-rescued' dialogue to have a stationary character talk to you in a variety of appropriate ways. I actually had to stop and figure out how it was done. Obvious in hindsight, I suppose, but still very effective.
I only have one nit to pick - $himher and similar tags sometimes showed up as the $ tag instead of the proper text, and that always seemed to be because the critter was speaking too early, without having you as the focus of their attention yet. -

Blight (140423). The best arc in the entire MA system right now. It's pretty much a crime that it only has 68 votes as of this writing.

This needs to become 'Dev's Choice' right now. Fantastic!

I agree. Loved it. -

If you defeat someone who has recently defeated you, this will no longer restrict you from receiving rewards from the PvP defeat. The PvP reputation timer is now no longer reset from a defeat that doesn't earn reputation.

Strange. Thanks for checking. I think I know what's happened. -
Suddenly I have 8 arc slots, and only one of my arcs is DC. I don't remember 'buying' any extra slots even on Test. Anyone else want to check how many slots they have?

Nobody seems to have posted any yet.

Only 3.7M. Never mind, it's all welcome!
