    The talk has not been about a wholly new engine, but of tapping the potential of the current one. Even power customization wouldn't require an engine rewrite, just an awful lot of work.

    Regarding the Khan TF (spoilers for upcoming I15):

    It seems from the Paragon Diaries that Requiem is no longer in charge of the resurgent 5th and has barricaded himself into his base. So, someone's displaced him in order to put the Reichsman in charge. Requiem would NEVER stand down voluntarily.

    I think Schadenfreude is the Axis America version of Nosferatu, possibly contacted and brought across by Requiem himself in a bid for help, and it's Schadenfreude who's behind the whole thing.

    Is this anything like the truth?

    That depends on who's asking.

    If we're holding a meeting of the Seekrit Forum Cabal and deciding what the guiding principles of CoH are going to be, then I will say 'It's up to them whether they want to powerlevel or not.'

    If you're a newbie, and you're asking me 'should I powerlevel?' then I will say 'I would advise against it, because you'll miss some fun experiences on the way up.'

    Just about anything pleasurable in a game is ultimately about fresh experience. At first, the whole journey from 1 to 50 is fresh. On another time round, you might discover zones and missions you hadn't done the first time. The next time round, you might feel that the only freshness was in the type of character you'd chosen to play and how it differed from the others. By that stage, you might well be thinking not about any possible variety in the journey, but about the variety in the character's abilities. That's commonly the point at which people start powerlevelling.

    During I14 Closed Beta I suggested there should be a change to RV: increase the chance for a PvP recipe to drop for a given side based on how many pillboxes they control, with the highest chance of all being during the 'zone won' phase. That might actually get people to care about capturing pillboxes and winning the zone.

    I still think they should do this.
