  1. Hmmm,

Thanks for the advice so far folks. I am planning 4 toons who have a linked back story. I already have a fire/fire blaster and one of the others is already ear marked as a Broadsword Scrapper.

The Tanker is very much gonna be linked to the land of his birth so I could probably "stretch" to justifiying stone armour via the backstory. Re the black/red fire armor, I like the idea of "healing flames" as an early heal power but I really see this character as very much the shining armour type so it sounds like Ice may be the best option "theme wise".

Keep advice coming all, especially on the effectiveness side of the various powers I want as much info as possible to plan this guy.

    thanks,
  2. Hi all,

One of my earlier toons was a tank (Invulnerable/Energy Melee I think he was. Got him to lvl5 or 6 and got bored. Character now deleted.

When I7 comes out I am looking to try again. The character will be a Knight in Armour style with a magical origin. Also, as I solo a lot I need high damage rather than agrro retention.

Given the theme of theme of the character Invulnerability is out, So we got Fiery Aura, Ice Armour or Stone Armour as primary and one of the weapons as secondary either axe or mace.

Any recommendations or opinions would be appreciated.

    Thanks for your time all.

  3. Hi all,

I am looking to make my first controler character as soon as I7 comes on line and I get the full range of cossie choices. I am looking to have gravity as my primary power choice but... not sure about my secondary.

Any advice on what works well with Gravity. I am aiming for PVE use and something that can be used mainly for solo work although I do team occasionally.

    Over to the experts....
  4. Thanks all for the advice.

I agree that using RoF on a mob that your tanker has nicely herded is just asking for trouble.

Re drawing the agro on myself, when I use the power as described, by the time the 2nd mob is coming for me the team has monstered the 1st one and is ready to cover my back so no probs there ...so far.

Also, last night was teamed with a player who also had RoF. Doublw whammy of both of them at once was dropping lvl10 mobs like bowling pins. greatfun!
  5. I know most experienced players don't rate RoF much when you are involved with a team but I think I have found a use for it with my lvl 12 dude.

When we start taking down a mob, if another one nearby starts taking an interest and we look like getting swamped I use RoF on the second mob to disperse them and keep em away from the main fight.

I admit to still being a novice player so would appreiate some "expert" advice on the viability of this tactic.

    Decisions

Not played with sonics but I do have a fire/fire blaster at lvl 13 right now.

I know most people will tell you the combo is the fastes way to debt supremacy known to the game but I seem to be doing ok with it. I have even found a useful way to use Rain of Fire without ticking off teams.

The one thing that might make this appealing to a scrapper junkie is the powers of fire sword and fire sword circle. Two reasonable melle type powers if slotted up right.

Hope you have fun with whichever option you choose and feel free to drop me a tell if you want somone to team with. the global handle is Electric Amazon.

    cheers,

  7. Ok, I been playing COH for around 2 months now and have 6 toons all around lvl 12. I have been playing COV around 3 weeks and have 2 toons around lvl 5. Your problem with the Hollows after coming from CoV is easily explained. CoV is easier at early lvls than the good guy game.

At lvl 5 when you 1st go there YES the Hollows is a pain, a totl pain, and all new players go through what you have. The thing is, you learn to pick your fights and you learn how to be cautious when running around mobs. All valuable life lessons I suspect for the higher lvls.

Be patient and the Hollows will become your holiday resort, believe me.

Re the coments on Perez Park, BURN IT DOWN!!!!! ITS A DEATH TRAP!!!!!
  8. I'm fairly new to COV and only have 2 characters at present. One Necromancer MM and one Plant/Thorn Dominator whci was my first bad guy.

I gotta say i think its a really great combination. I realise I am still only low level at lvl6 and have not exactly faced Huge chalenges with him yet but he is easily capable of handling anything I have yet met.

A sold set of powers I reckon.

    Why scrap?

I have 5 characters on the go and no repeated ATs. My first character was a scrapper and I still think they are fun. I know the experts on here will disagree with this idea but I like using TP foe to bring a single bad guy to me and then SPLAT him. If the pull goes belly up and you get mobbed, you can always run and come back for more in a few minutes. This advice of course is only applicable to solo play.

Give your scrapper a fair go, at lvls 8 to 10 they are still in their infancy.
