  1. I'm so glad.

I've been dying, absolutely dying to post something about this but we wanted it to be a surprise. *bites tongue* Plus, with the Scoop linked on the updater, there's a heck of a lot of views already. I mean, wow!

Anyway, I want to thnak everyone for allowing me to put their art in the Scoop. It really classes up the joint... the art, I mean... classes up the paper thingy...

    Oh, too much excitement.
  2. They were both have a bit of artwork featured in City Scoop.

Knowing that some of ya'll don't often leave this section, I thought I'd bring that and a link to the discussion thread down here.

I'd also like to bring up, the small pics in the Scoop are linked and lead to the artist's DA page. I hope ya'll enjoy this.

    Very nice!

Well done all involved, keep it up!

BTW, about that proofreading... what pieces are the "Piecebringers" bringing? (Horoscopes)

    [/ QUOTE ]

    <bleep!>

    I knew I should've run that through a spell-checker...

    I am a flake. See?
  4. [ QUOTE ]
Well, anyway, what I said was....I think the Scoop is fun, and the horoscopes were silly, and we should have way more silly around here.......but I'm sulking now....plus I'm still at work

    [/ QUOTE ]

    o.O

    You like the horoscopes?

    Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!

I like it. But I have a small problem now... I did the crossword puzzle in pen.

Ok, east coasters, here's a question for you.

How much is a motel room today? Call, find out, post.

MOTEL, you know, dirt cheap crappy room, the kind gamers can afford That's your base for cost of the convention.

FYI, Indy right now with the race 2 weeks away and the track being open, I found $30.00 per night. If you guys can beat that, I'll go with East coast too (even though geographicly it makes no sense).

    [/ QUOTE ]

There's a Raddison in Orlando (MainGate) that goes for $39.00 a night. Beautiful rooms, conciege service, indoor heated pool, poolside bar and a Pizza Hut. Outside bar and pool...

So, no one else pronounces it "Tally-ho!"?

Never mind then. Sorry for the confusion.

    Cryptic coolness

I wouldn't call it sloppy so much as a lack of foresight.

Remember, Cryptic was kinda new when CoH launched. There's just some things they didn't know and couldn't foresee. They probably know better now but that doesn't changed code that was written 3+ years ago.

I'll cut them some slack for not knowing some things but I hope that some of the changes today address some of the spots where they've coded themselves into a corner so to speak.

In other words devs, I hope that some of the updates now have some effect on altering some of what was 'hard-baked' into the code lo those many years ago. Granted, I'm a hopeless optimist.

Maybe I need glasses, but I did not see the word "sorry" appearing even once on this post, or any of the half dozen announcements pertaining to the screw up. To all the people who have lost stuff and are inconvenienced, isn't an apology the professional thing to include right next to your promise to fix the errors?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    You wanted an apology?

    [/ QUOTE ]

GenericForumName, who you quote, already recognized and thanked Lighthouse for the apology, immediately after it was granted:

Ah, I missed it after the thread got a little... angry-ish sounding?

Anyway, the latest announcement sounded more like a professional apology and it seemed wrong for it to be missed or something. No hard feelings either way.

Last Question. Two servers Protector and Freedom. I was only able to select one, maybe you can stealth another Freedom vote into the tally (not like Freedom would need it)

I remember way back when Denny's first introduced the Grand Slam Breakfast and you could get this huge breakfast for $1.99. It became a weekly tradition to play our D&D games until the wee hours, then trek down the road from the college dorm and spend more time chowing down on cheap food and coffee while recapping the night. I imagine the waitresses must have thought it was odd. I was usually too wrapped up in plotting out the next adventure to notice.

Lady A, around here the SCA *is* the Haunted Trails group. Of course, living in a city with the motto "Keep Austin Weird", it's fairly hard to shock the locals these days.

We did manage when we came froma rained out local event and wound up going into a nearby Shoney's (since closed) for some food. The guy at the door looked very grim and demanded we put all of our edged weapons in a coatcheck. 15 people and roughly 45 weapons weapons later, we were seated. The waitress was pretty nice about it though.

But anyway, around about August when we've got most of the planning building done, we'll sometimes practice new make-up techniques and such. Liquid latex is icky! But anyway, walk in to a restaraunt dressed for a haunted house during August.

If you really want to get noticed in a restaraunt, enter dressed in full plate armor complete with dents from the days battles.
I used to be in the SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism).

I like my combat games a bit on the realistic side

Some friends and I are currently in development of graphics engine and someday hope to start building a primitive MMO of our own. Talking about how the best way to build a game economy, arrange challenging encounters, and develop a backstory will get you some wierd looks also.

I used to get together with some friends once a week at a local Chili's to discuss our results/plans for the turn of Middle Earth Play by Mail wargame we were on. Imagine a couple guys in suits and ties, and a couple guys in T-shirts & shorts, all with briefcases sitting around eating chips, and discussing how best to assassinate the Witch-King of Angmar and mobilize troops to protect the southern flank of the Greenwood from the Dog Lords heavy cavalary.

I think we got the best looks when we pulled out the full size grid maps of middle earth and began putting pins and markers out to plot troop movements.

    5. No “I Demand Answers” threads

Threads that make threats or use other combative language will be removed without notice. If you ask a question on the board and it has not been addressed by a moderator, there is a reason for that (or there is not an answer currently available). In the event of legitimate emergencies, or other unprecedented scenarios, we will endeavor to provide comments, even if it is only to state that there is no officially available information. However, this is not always possible.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And yet, Positron has indulged two 'calling out' threads.

Forum mods should have locked both down contents unseen just by the thread title alone.

If there are more of them, Posi, it's you're own fault.

    [/ QUOTE ]

i think the reason why any dev would answer a post like that were due to the other litigations of the forum rules.
meaning, they looked at the thread, researched the issue, and found the problem, and let you know they found the issue/or found a fix to the issue...

_Castle_ does this quite a bit, weather its a "call out" thread or not, if he looked in the spreadsheets and finds a problem, he lets us know. and he lets us know he fixed it on his own internal build (which means he has already fixed it, it just needs to be implemented into a future patch, along with anything any other dev has found< which requires QA assitance, since when you fix one bug in a build, the change in code might cause another bug, which wont be discovered until the patch is implemented&gt

basicly, even tho they may reply to a 'call out' thread, its because they found a legitimate issue. and/or the concern that others are having the same issue...

take notice, they normaly don't answer a call out thread if its only one person having that issue, not enough documentation to point to what the issue is. but if theres a lot of posts from other people with very similar issues. they may give a heads up about it. (which would also be limited to one other issue, there are only so many devs to read the post, and so many players posting, weather those posts are bug related, or other stuf)

    I support the devs!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Honestly, I think the big difference between what's answered and what's forbidden as far as 'call out' threads, does the OP have an underlying tone of really just wanting to know or a tone of wanting the devs to say something so we can bash them and argue over it ad naseum. In other words, intent.

It could be argued that you can't really judge intent without tone of voice and such but I think the mods may be familiar with some of us enough to be able to make an educated guess at intent. Just a guess but after following these forums for awhile, it's fairly easy to see who's usually a jokester, a helpful person or a troll. 'Swhy I can't stand it when ya'll change names or avatars! Grrr.

It's too bad the wax seal stamp and wax that I ordered haven't arrived yet, otherwise they would have been sealed properly.

I had a whole page of Ex Libris scribbled out on a page finding just the right feel.

Anyway I am glad you all like your prizes so far. I know we had some go up to Canada and overseas so some of the winners have not yet received their package.

Looking forward to future prize options as I had great fun putting these together.

Geek friends of mine used to have fun going to late-night restaurants and engaging in absolutely meaningless, but very animated gibberish conversations as they ate, just to watch the faces of the people who were listening in. It became a little game (they were actors) to keep the voice and tone totally serious while stringing together absolutely meaningless phrases- and responding appropriately.

Now they just post on gaming forums.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Couple of my friends and I used to do that except not about games... about sex... with made up gibberish words.

  25. I'm on the fence as it were with costume drops specifically. I haven't gotten one, not during I9 beta, not after launch to live, not one. So I don't really feel like I have enough experience with the costume drops to say one way or the other. Now I'm sure, someone will say "But if you haven't gotten any then they must not be dropping fast enough" and that's a decent point. I can't argue with it. Not enough experience with the costume drops either way. I've heard of folks getting three in one mission and folks like me that have none.

Seriously, maybe just streakbreaker or something, something that kept the randomness but only for so long, like 20 or 50 drops, at least one -has- to be a costume bit. I dunno though...
