I saw the doohickey at the grocery store the other day. It was labelled, and I'm not making this up, 'Beer in the butt chicken'.
-
[ QUOTE ]
Very nice issue once again.
Posi is obviously the highlight.
What is "beer-can chicken"?
Also a bit surprised that they don't identify issue titles with pieces of literature! I thought that was a little 'metagame' with the players.
Also, rock on Lord Infamy. I also have a Plant/Thorns soon to be Mako, woot!
Great work!
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd assumed this little doohickey that you ram up the open end of the chicken and then stand over an open can of beer/soda/whatever. -

Paragonwiki spoilerz about the mutations and the Rikti War.

'What drove (spoilery things to happen) is unknown.'
Hmmmm....
[/ QUOTE ]
Gonna talk spoilery things.
Turn back now.
You've been warned.
Last chance.
I always thought they did it themselves, like the Lost. Which, the Lost are just proto-Rikti anyway. The same thing that drives the Lost to mutate themselves could've been what led a small group of Rikti to start the process on their world which mutated into Outbreak and then changed everyone, slowly, over a couple hundred years. They've managed to speed up the process though with regards to Honoree. -
[ QUOTE ]
Gah, I don't know. My Rikti Mythos knowledge isn't up to that challenge. Anyone?

Or maybe Doctor Miller died because you never cured the plauge and it got so bad it eventually killed him.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't buy that. Outbreak is already contained and controlled when a new enters the game. So, you couldn't have been the one thing that led Dr. Miller to develop his cure.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm wondering if the hero you (like the villain you and Kara Thrace) has a special destiny. Only you could have defeated all those contaminated in that mission and stopped the plauge before it gets out of hand.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ok, so I couldn't remember enough of the Outbreak story to comment. So I started a new character and ran through. It's been awhile since I read all that.
Anyway, I can't argue that "you" isn't the deciding factor anymore. "You" is also the only thing Outbreak and Breakout have in common. -

After reading the article again, and the Paragonwiki page on Outbreak, the one thing that's missing is the Rikti. Dr. Miller identified Outbreak as a Rikti mutation drug. If the Rikti never invaded, then he'd have no sample to compare the drug to, and wouldn't be able to identify the Rikti component.
Now, without getting into spoilers... Why did the Rikti invade in the first place? Who set that up? No, don't answer. I know, others do, but I don't want to spoil it for those that haven't run that mission. -

Guys, havest thy never heardst of the World Serpent? The one that would fight Thor in the final battle called:
[ QUOTE ]
Rag·na·rök [ rgnə ràwk ]
noun
Definition:
destruction of gods: in Norse mythology, the final destruction of the gods in a great battle against the forces of evil, after which a new world will arise
[Mid-18th century. < Old Norse ragnarök "fate of the gods" < regin "gods" + rok "fate"]
[/ QUOTE ]
The picture very strongly suggest a Nordic influence. The head is very much reptillian (with the way the skin is at the hinges of the jaw), and believe it or not dragons and sea serpents have been described as having ears (they have characteristics of more than just snakes, don'tcha know?).
While Encarta fails me in finding the name of the World Serpent (I believe it starts with a 'J'), it was tricked into biting onto it's own tail. Loki, the father of the World Serpent, saved the Serpent (as well as Fenris) so they could help him win Ragnarock.
And no, I'm not talking 'Marvel's' or 'DC's' version of Norse mythology.

Fallen to THE OUTBREAK PLAGUE.
"Users of Outbreak experience a feeling of invincibility and a boost in physical strength, but there is also a corresponding increase in violent tendencies and aggression. A single dose causes physical addiction and will cause a rapid and unstoppable mental degradation resulting in clinical insanity. Doctors have been unable to reverse the loss of memory and personality associated with Outbreak madness."

definately dead, fallen used in this way has always meant the person in question is dead.

I think posting something as simple and yet as mysterious as this - the day before I leave - is tease enough!

He's the one who gave me the confidence to keep playing Yumii when I was at one point going absolutely freaking paranoid that by creating her in CoH, I'd never be able to use her in my novels. Even calmly exchanged a few PMs with me on the subject <~,~>; very helpful. Not to mention he's just an awesome guy in general.

Jesse, I'm going to miss you. When you post or PM, your enthusiasm for the whole Co* universe shows in your words. I'm going to miss that. But I do wish you luck in all you endevours. And please, don't be a stranger. Even if you have to a take a non-redname like someone else. It's ok. Just hang with the folks. At least, once in a while.

Ex, I'd like to respectfully request pics of all the devs in speedo's.
Thanks muchly. -

Sure there is how about a different storyline advancement like say the Rikti. I didn't really go to indepth on the hints that I reported because I couldn't remember all the fine details, but Posi did say that, had they not did the Rikti the 5th may have had a return by now.
You can take that for what its worth, I guess.
~MR
[/ QUOTE ]
Wow, maybe I should've interviewed you instead of your thread.
Thanks MR! -
[ QUOTE ]
Actually, I stopped expecting the 5th about a year after I heard they were 'returning'.
[/ QUOTE ]
Plbbbth! -
[ QUOTE ]
Oh, I've no doubt you did your best on info gathering.
It's just that, to me, any comment that 'The 5th will return' is suspect simply because they have been saying it so long and it's yet to materialize.
I think it was Manticore that said way back when, that the 5th will return.
And ever since, every issue we get our hopes up, only to never see them come back.
[/ QUOTE ]
Then don't expect them. I don't. I figure there will be much hoopla surrounding their return and other such. So, if there's nothing in the teasers and no hints from the beta testers (the 5th's return would be hinted and leaked I think) then I don't expect them.
The devs hyped the vet rewards, the redesigned zones... all sorts of crap has been hyped for each issue. No prior hype, no 5th. -
[ QUOTE ]
What I find funny is this:
[ QUOTE ]
Then, Mindripper asked about a favorite villain group, the 5th Column. That question garnered a big, fat YES! They shall return! Mr. Ripper reports he had the impression the 5th would return in Issue 11. Thats just an impression--no confirmation. Just more grist for the Mill.
[/ QUOTE ]
They've been saying 'The 5th will be back' for two years now.
I'll believe it when I see it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, they have. The 5th, unknown to the rest of humanity, have admitted to being horrible procrastinators.
Ok, joke over. If they have planned all along for them to come back, as they've said, then why not say the 5th are coming back? Granted, it might not be the next issue or in the next 5 issues, but that doesn't mean it'll never happen.
I imagine there'll be much fanfare when it does finally happen. As for when, the thread I gathered the info from for that article had no specific hints so I have no idea. -
