    When AE was launched there where several attempts in getting people to HoF status. The first HoF that made it was griefed back to 4 status by a few [insert angry name here] who saw it fitting to rate it a 1 or 2.
    Back in the early days there was a badge for playing HoF's like Devs choices so... that was a very elusive badge... (Before the badge-wipe)

    Every badge or thing that requires player votes has the possibility of being griefed, in my opinion.
  2. My first Incarnate will be my sorceress Lady Arete; Fire/Fire/Fire Blaster also one of my main characters.
  3. Bring the character you want

    If your char is a buildt for single target melee (and can fly/have temp power that allows fly), bring that one.
    If you char is buildt for Ranged Damage, bring that one.
    If your char knows how to Hold, bring that one.
    If you char knows how to tank, or heal or teleport, bring that one.

    (I will mention this bit alot)
    If you are uncertain of what to bring, look at the guide i've linked too and which is the sticky on Union. Read it, decide what char you will bring and make certain to use the tips therein.
    Like the dayjob accolades for Rez others/heal others, flight pack purchase in shadowlands or dayjob accolade.

    On topic: Fire is your best bet. Most damage. Yup. (Nods sagely) If your also not afraid of going into melee mode (aka the lovely art of Blapping) then the secondary fire also have some nice added aoe damage.
    Myself... Blaze is sort of cast on an armlength distance to an enemy.

    And a very nice chart you posted Postagulous. But one thing i'd like to add to the final "Yes" (is everything on fire). "Run to the next group of enemy (what are you waiting for)"

    This is a call to all heroes.
    The PPD has noticed an increase of Devouring in Earth. Police reports fears that Hamidon may have regenerated... again. Scientists have also predicted that Hamidon most likely will have regenerated fully the 22'd of May.
    PPD has thus given out a call to those heroes that feel they are strong enough to defeat this looming threat.

    Thats right. No retreat, no surrender. We will have another go vs the big blob the 22'd May. We will start the spawning of Hamidon around or preferably a little before 7pm BTS/8pm CET.
    Sarge has asked me to take the role of coordinator for this attack and he will focus on leading the Hamidon Tank team.

    Do give me pm's ingame/forum or post here if you want to be a leader of a team. The more people that can take the role of one or more of the teams the more raids we can have in the future (I believe) .

    Every Raid participant/Team Leader should also read the Hamidon Strategy guide.
    A team leaders role will be to make certain every team member knows what their job is to do, assigning targets (In example yellow tank team's tanks know which yellow mito they are going to taunt), etc.
    If you want to be a leader, but are hesitant we can go through the strategy so you know what to do. Or join the raid in one of the teams and get the experience there.

    We will also need to have a few EoE hunts. They will be announced on Sals Badgehunters, Union Hamidon Raids and Union Taskforces, I believe I'll host a few of them in the next week.

    Well we have had a few Hamidon Raids, we try to organize ourselves a little more in three of the channels Sals badgehunters, Union Chat and Union Taskforces.

  13. The point of a server list merge, deathkitten (in my eyes) is equal service. (Explained in much more detail elsewhere). Eu pays as much as the NA servers, however the EU players has 4 servers to create chars on, the NA has 11. That means the NA players have 7x12 more character slots to create chars on, before they will have to buy additional character slots. Which we in EU have to when we get hit by Altitis. Specially since two of the servers are useless to many of us, because we do not speak french or German.
    The other point is... why on earth seperate the playerbase on two lists that cannot interact with eachother?
    I have also the added illusion that it may even be more expensive to uphold two server lists instead of just one, due to manpower having to code/recode/update two updaters. However that may be an illusion, since the company do not reveal in detail why a server list merge has not been done yet or what it is that stops them from doing it.

    With a server list merge, there would be no difference, we would all be part of one company.

    A server merge will ALWAYS infuriate more players then it will please. With a server merge there will be local name changes, maybe supergroup changes, global name changes etc... with a server list merge there will be only global name change (if your unlucky).

    About keeping villain population... well One solution would be to make a villain actually... you know... be a villain and not a lacky (too many missions make you a lacky). Having minions in bases, missions (ok through a mission computer) that let you be the villain with maybe various heroes (generic) that fights to oppose you. (See "(Villains only) How evil do YOU want to be, really? " -thread for some nice suggestions)

    If you have begun to look for channels to be part of (finding the community in the gameworld) I would recommend 3 channels to join (your pick):
    Sals badgehunters is a channel devoted to badges and taskforces.
    Union Chat is the channel to talk about anything game related or non-game related.
    Union Taskforce is a channel devoted to taskforces and events.
    Hope to see you in one or all three of them
    To join a channel
    /chan_join "nameofchannel"
    Then simply goto the "chat"/"global" tag or anyother you make and "enable" the channel (right-click the "chat" then enable/add channels)
  16. I really enjoyed Deans Arc and at the end, we are back in the bank again. Guards are shivering and shaking and you surprise everyone and say... "Hey I want to make a transfer". Just invisioning the surprised look was oh great
    And to top things up (The villain I did the arc with is a well sort of abused char, but intelligent as few and strangely empathic. She is one who can lure the secret ID from people and she don't even need to use her psi powers):
    Her clone appears, they have a chat, the clone asks "Why". My char could have said to serve me or any of that, but no she just says "Go out and explore the world". Exit clone.
    I put on walk power walks towards the exit, turns her heel to look at the bank... then turns towards the door and exits.

    I found this arc fun.

    (ooo... so she will turn on you if you decide to rob the bank? sweet, I must try that with another char)

    Only played this arc once with a female char that yes.. is a looker! It was very, very, very suitable that Dean would try to date my char. The message alone that gave me the Dean as contact at lvl 25 was oooh so right.
    The way that he continues to treat your char was oh so fitting. But as said elsewhere.
    One reason I LOVE the arc is because he sees you as the Alpha, the strong one and himself as a helper. He helps you to do get forward in the arc and do your villainious thing (trying to to spoil anything).

    (Also I would love having the option for different text dependant upon Origin/Sex in AE... that was completely unrelated, sorry)


    To the topic of Incarnates...
    For all that is good...errr evil in this case... I Do not think that Recluse will be the contact for incarnates (I hope he will not at all), cause Recluse... sharing power? Yearrright.
    Yes, leave Recluse out of the Incarnate, mention him by name sure, but leave Arachnos out of the loop in the Incarnate system.

    I've gotten all badges that a 39 Month veteran can get.
    These are excluded cause I can't get them: Reveler, Pursuer, Celebrant + 5'th Column gladiator, Power Liberator, Passport and Bug Hunter (The odds of getting this one are too miniscule to hope for).
  20. Felt I should share this, since the idea came to me after thinking of this post...aaaaaand maybe because i've played Dungeon Keeper (1 and 2) lately.

    Samuel Tow, others and myself has uttered the desire to be the protagonist in OUR own story. (I like the way you write Samuel )
    To be the main villain in our story, not the canon story. I want to be the one who is respected, who is feared, who is known to get things done in the isles (when i'm playing villains and have atleast gotten a certain level of power).
    My characters are not the evil for evils sake. They often come down as plotters, thieves and people who want power.
    In my mind I would want them to have a secret lair, minions that follow them and some way through missions to help me get the feel that I'm a villain darnit, not somebody's disposable lacky (darn some of those ungrateful contacts).

    So I was saying after thinking a little of bases, dungeon keeper and how I would want my villain to be... these thoughts showed up.

    A villan who is going to be a protagonist, must have a base and minions do to guard the base and sometimes send them off to missions (to expand the influence of ..errr me).
    So, how about if we (lets say at lvl 30) gets a new contact, for easy reference here just "Secret Lair contact".
    In essence this contact is linked to the same mechanics as the Villaingroup register in that you can pay "rent" or as I would call it; Upkeep of materials in the base. (Rent implies that the base is on loan by Arachnos) Or for those players who want to be aligned to Arachnos, well the villaingroup register npc can use the same function as the "Secret Lair"-contact.

    The Secret lair contact will have some (maybe more) functions.
    Give out missions to recruit specialists (like researchers), missions to recruit minions that can help defend your base, pay upkeep/wages of said specialists/minions etc.
    If the villain thought upon this issue in advanced my villain (if new) would have created a villain group at lvl 10 and been in prestige mode since then.
    So we talk to this contact and it is evident that the character wants to help us, we are the boss he would be a servant like "Igor" or something.

    (The base itself is the Base we find in the base editor, but with new changes.)
    So the Secret Lair contact knowing your plans, knows of a few researchers (Like we had in the great storyarc here in Issue 17) that could be of use to us/me. You go in there and you do the mission/arc and you get them.
    Depending if your a Technology/science or magic inclined it these researchers would need either a science lab or a library/workshop.

    For the researchers I did think upon a little research system, that allows you to allocate either prestige (earned or already earned) and/or salvage to the research. Through the research you get access to various base items, tech-tree for upgrading minions and inventions/experiments/summonings of
    new unique kinds of minions.

    After you have, lets say, built a barrack the secret lair contact tells you that he/she knows about some people that could be recruited into guards. So off you go again to recruit some minions in a mission/arc.
    When this is done you get the possibility to design your human minions uniform.
    Upgrades can be done through research for different kind of weapons etc. And we will see from time to time a guard walking around or standing still in the base (or more of them).

    Then lets say our villain wants to get some new types of creatures/robots/summonable beings into the base as part of his/her minion group.
    The researchers can start making experiments in the "mad science-lab", Make parts in the workshop or begin summoning creatures in the magic room (lets just call it summoning room or Alchemy lab).
    After a while you will get reports that the researcher/mages have managed to create a human hybrid of some sort (mutant) like werewolf, zombie, human with powers of devs choice or summoned some creatures from afar or made golems.
    These will use the skin of already existing creatures, but they will from now on have the emblem of your group. Human formed special minions would need a usage of maybe a special new uniform?

    Alright, so far we have the base and minions. A little thing I (and i'm not the only one) is a little tired of is to be pot-shotted by the same enemy group that i'm doing missions for while on the way to the mission. So why not use simply the clockwork preatorean mode (They will not attack unless fired upon first by the player) on villain groups.
    Since you are a villain and you have your own group it is inevitable that your goals will clash with someone elses.
    The idea of faction points (might be a bad idea) with each faction in the game could help you as leader of a villain group to find out who is your enemy and who is ... groups with same interests with you.

    But we got a base and minions. Our group needs to be seen doing things, so lets say we got a mission computer in the base (after some time) and through it we can get missions/arcs themed for being a villain. Steal things to create better things ourselves, stop a rival group from encroching on our "land" (NOT that this would be seen in the gameworld like the 5'th vs Council). All in all missions to help give us the player the feel that we are the villains, the main villains.
    Add in various types of generic heros that will try to twart us (could even use our own character list so we fight our own hero) etc.

    But that we also have a kind of "alarm", read baseraid.
    If villains are going to have this ability though then for fairness sake the base must be saved by the game before every raid so that it will revert to how it was after the raid. (villains/heroes destroying the nice buildings you've erected urk)

    So lets have a minigame. Lets say at this point that I as leader has recruited 9 other players to my group. We will be invaded by a herogroup of 8. Now this is ok, cause 4 of the players in the group could not attend the raid. Sooo the game will simply insert two of the not online villains into the base.
    The heroes are invading and they do battle with the minions (who raises the alarm) one of the fellow villains might come and do battle (and maybe beat or be beaten) by the heroes. "I" as the main leader will be placed in the center of the base (well control room in anycase). Heroes win if they find and beat the villain leader. Villains win if they defeat the heroes.
    Oh yes.. and heroes gets xp and drops from the villain minions and players. To compensate the villains would require maybe a boost in research, new item, xp bonus at the end if winning...
    This part of the idea is a little fuzzy though...

    This would be what I would look for in City of Villains
  21. Also for the EU it is vital to join a few channels like for Union; Sals badgehunters, Union Taskforces and/or Union chat.
    So to prevent players from experience too few people on EU... get the new players we do have or people already in the game but not in the channels... into the channels.

  22. Or Sam, let them get the non-aggro like thing which the Preatorean clockwork gets. They wont attack you, but if you attack them, they will fight you. (As we saw and heard on the videos)

  23. How evil would my villain be?
    Its not the evil thing my villains strive for, its the self-interest of villainy. Not evil for its own sake, but how could my villain gain on anything. So to OP, my villains would be around 3-4.
    Villanious though... 1-10 with 10 taking over the world, the multi-verse with an ego that could hold a universe... about 6.

    As for the evil/villain thing, I agree with Sam's post nr #31. He pretty much summed up what i'm looking for on villain side.
    I want to be the protagonist, the strong, (later by another one) the awesome one who people look up to, instead of "I'm the best, back in line you slimeball before i kill you" -look by "contacts" that we usually get.

    Thats why i'm getting my hopes up for GR. If the story arcs are of same quality as both (hero and villain) arcs in Dark Mirror... then i say yummy.

    I love Vernon Von Gruns arcs, cause as he has been mentioned, well he is the man with the plan, BUT he has the mad science thing and he is utterly dependant upon you. "Laugh with me" is one of his comments and it gives me a smile. In the arc, you are the awesome, the villain.

    So Devs... please more Let us be the protagonist, the mastermind, the one that others fear, not the lacky that is always disposable.

    I suppose though that we can't get something like Dungeon keeper for villains.... err my mind is drifting.
    I want the secret lair in or not in a volcano, the lacky's of my own to guard the place and do my bidding. I want to build said theme up so that as we get up the levels, we have our secret lair, the lacky's, the oppertunities (say mission computer), the invasions of our lair (mission computer or alarm), the various politicing with governments or emneties of rival villain groups. The missions we send our our lackys for and they sometimes get beaten the tar out of heroes. Even a villain group or hero group that sees you as their rival nr 1.
    Please more villain content and arcs etc like Magneto, dr doom etc (but where we are the likeness of said names) that would be villainious to me instead of... "meh, just a lacky, the brute on the street that is disposable"

    Well during the war my char Lady Arete was stuck in the Zig. It was part of her time to reflect of her life and what she had done and wanted undone. She did not know much about the war until it was almost over and by that time it was too late.
    The sorceress was sort of forgotten and not released until Statesmans call to heroes.
    However if she knew about what happened (and it happened in her years as a hero)... she would join the Omega team. Knowing teleportation spells she would try to keep her team mates alive and several steps away from the enemy on the world that would be their "new" home. (and use fire spells as that is her primary/secondary powers) Unless she would be killed before she had a chance to make a fake death of the heroes.
    No matter she would have gone to save Earth.

    The other chars I got are usually mutants so they would not be of much use in the Omega team...
