  1. You don't have to specifically detoggle the previous form, but it does detoggle automatically and then you spend two seconds posing while you wait for the change to kick in.

Personally, I've only just gotten into my Warshade, and over the past week I've gone from intending Human only, to Human with dwarf for second mire, to Tri-Form, and having now set up a build plan for tri form and respecced to match it as closely as I can this early (level 22) I find that it feels like half the mobs are down before I'm even shooting with more than my mires, although this may be because the Mire and the hold are the only things slotted in human form right now.
  2. Okay, I am completely new to Tanking (I've played a few tankers, but always solo and it was when I was new to the game) so I'm not very sure of how to build a tank, OR really of how to play a tank. I've put together this build, which I'd appreciate some advice on. I'm not overly concerned with the cost of a build, as getting to the point of affording those high end enhancements is part of what gets my goal-oriented mind playing a character.

  3. I've leveled a few characters to 50 by ITF too. A good week of running 4 to 12 a day covered me from 35 to 50 on my second 50.

Anyway, running the regular mission content isn't too shabby a way to get exp at the end of an arc. Although, having bypassed a lot of the newest content, you may be in for a lot of kill-alls if you go that route.
  4. I've made a lot of Masterminds. My first 50 was a Necro/Dark, and it works great.

Ignoring that it's wonderful thematically, you share a few powers with the Lich pet (Fearsome Stare, Petrifying Gaze) and Fearsome Stare also shows up on the Dark Servant, which is incredibly easy to make permanent.

Twilight Grasp is a very powerful heal, though unless something has changed recently, it's area of effect is half as much on a mastermind as it is on a def/corr. Incidentally, your Dark Servant also has Twilight Grasp, which in addition to healing you and anyone near you, debuffs the enemy (-regen, -to hit, -dmg)

Tar Patch is one of my favorite powers in the game. -speed and -res, easy to have permanent (and stacking) and it's all an on the ground graphic, so it doesn't disrupt my view of what's going on like, for example freezing rain might.

Darkest Night... I didn't take this for a long time. I didn't really want to manage a toggle that kept dropping every time the target died, and I hadn't really read what it did. Not taking it was the biggest mistake of my first 40 levels.

Howling Twilight is an amazing Rez. AoE, stuns enemies, fears them, debuffs their regen by 500% as well as their recharge and move speed. In later levels I had the recharge low enough on this power that I was occasionally using it when no one was dead just to wreck the enemies for the rest of the party, and if people WERE dying, unless they were in separate rooms, this got them all back up at once.

Shadow fall is a decent power that I sometimes forget to turn on, but along with IOs and Base Resistances, it got the Negative Energy resist on some of the pets up in the 60% range. Admittedly, it's not the most common damage type to be hit by, but it's fairly impressive. There's also 15% Psionic resistance on this power, and that is nothing to scoff at.

The mezzes are nice, and as I mentioned they stack with the Lich and Dark Servant.

I have never, EVER used Black Hole.

I think Poison and Pain Domination would also go well with Necro thematically, but I haven't played either one above level 12.

Now, you also asked about Ninjas. I made a Ninja mastermind not long after the Necro one hit 50. I really wanted the thematic, so I put Trick Arrow on it. I deleted it less than a day later, and re-rolled it as a Dark, because Dark has enough going on that it will make a powerful match with just about any pet set, and I managed to swing the thematic to fit the ninjas. I stopped playing that MM around level 20 though, and eventually re-made it as a /Time, which has been wonderful, although it requires a very active playstyle to keep the ninjas alive (using the AoE heal a lot, and also Temporal Selection) But on the other hand, between Time's Juncture, Distortion field, and Caltrops from both Jonin, you can definitely slow things down a bit. The other Buffs and Debuffs on time are very nice, although I haven't gotten this one to get all of them yet.

Anyway, good luck with whatever you choose or have chosen.
  5. You're right, we've gotten a lot of new power sets in a very short amount of time, and we do in fact have to pay for StJ and BR if we want them right now. I paid for Beam Rifle because it was on sale. I don't have any character concept for it, nor do I have any particular inclination to play it, either immediate or in the near future.

Street Justice I can see myself playing, but I'm not buying today. I'm waiting a month or so to see if it goes on sale, and if it hasn't by then, I'll have accumulated more than enough points to cover it, on top of the spare points I already have.

So far, I've purchased Beam Rifle, using the points I got free for being a subscriber, and the Barbarian Set, also using some of those points, but then replacing them with 15 dollars worth of points, because it's a costume set, and those have often been separate. I have enough points, right now, to get Street Justice, and I did before I bought the Barbarian set.

Staff fighting, I've heard from several places, is intended to be a free set, at least to VIPs. It would, however, be ironic if it was only to VIPs, and people who went Premium because they felt it was a better deal then had to buy a power set which would have been free if they stayed subscribed.

Titan Weapons I intend to buy immediately when it comes out, which I suspect will be closer to december.

Tell me though, if NCSoft puts out a new power set every single month, how many people do you think will be complaining?

In any case, if McDonalds started charging for packets of ketchup, discussing the economic value and whether McDonalds would make or lose money out of the deal while eating your meal in the McDonalds dining area will not convince McDonalds to give back your free ketchup. Neither will discussing it with the staff of any individual store, who are rarely consulted in what changes ought to be made to the company. Buy the ketchup, or don't, and if that doesn't change the situation, and you cannot live without the ketchup, then go back to buying the ketchup, or go to Burger King.
  6. Basically, you're looking at the situation poorly. If a new power set comes out for 800 points every two months, it is still effectively free with your subscription, the difference being, if you decide you don't want it, you instead get 10 dollars worth of points to spend on what you want. If one comes out every three months, you're effectively getting it, and 5 dollars worth of other stuff free.

The problem arises because a lot of people have spent all their free points on things like the Barbarian Set, the CoT set, the Hover board, or what have you, and now they feel like they're being asked to pay extra for the power set.

Imagine if Going Rogue came out, and when you bought it, you were given the option to buy a version that came with Electric Control, Dual Pistols, Demon Summoning, AND Kinetic Melee, or you were given the option to buy a version that came with any three of the above, but also came with, for example, the entire Martial Arts Pack.

If you're a certain kind of customer, you'd buy all of it anyway, and a LOT of people are going to buy all of it anyway. It's just that some people have effectively chosen the second option, whether because they figured StJ would come later enough that they'd have the points ready, or that it would come out on sale, or something.

At the very least, new powersets should be instantly available to VIP players, since we are paying that extra to receive additional content. It seems rather redundant to make the people who are already paying shell out more money to see the things that previously would have been covered under their subscription. How much more money do you need from the loyal subscribers who continue to pay money each month?

Yes, you can make the case that we're given points every month. I spent mine on beam rifle, but had I known street justice was right around the corner I would have held out for that instead. So even with the free points I've been given, I would still have to pay out of pocket to be able to use all the new powers right away. Otherwise, if I want if for free I have to wait two months until I've built up enough "free" points to purchase it. The way I see it, VIP players should not lose anything that they would have gotten under the old business model. I don't feel like a very important person when I still have to pay for things that previously would have been given to us.
Last I checked, which of course may have changed since then, the game is about 15 dollars a month, which includes (and correct me if I'm wrong) the signature story arcs for free (10$ value) a reward token (400 point value?) and 400 points (5$). Now, on the one hand, you might have to pay out of pocket for Street Justice. On the other hand, if CoH hadn't converted to this model, there would have been no real reason for the devs to put out Time, BR, and SJ all at about the same time, nor would we necessarily have Staff and Titan lined up, most likely getting at least one by Christmas.

That's two to three months stipend by then, more than enough to cover a power set. Now, if you use that on costume sets, you won't have it, but on the other hand, you've had to pay out of pocket for about half of the new sets that have come out, now haven't you?

Street Justice wasn't delayed as a money grab maneuver, it was delayed so that there could be a new powerset within a month of freedom, as opposed to three new sets with freedom and then nothing new on the market as far as power sets are concerned for two or three months until Titan or Staff comes out. It's mostly a show of faith that yes, they are trying to regularly put out a variety of new, cool things on the market, and not just costume pieces or mechanical things like unslotters and costume slots.
  8. I'm giving it all five damage procs and (I think) a single recharge or possibly a slow/recharge. I'm not too worried about increasing the slow because I'm setting this up on an ice/time and between the built in hold proc, the three actual hold powers in the two sets, and snowstorm, I don't expect much to be able to just wander out of there short of an AV.
