I wasn't all too sure about any direction you were taking with this story, and now with part two it seems this stranger and the dragon Zane are making the story take a sort of "Dragonheart" direction, albeit with a twist and who knows what else. All my comments from my previous post were merely speculations/observations. If any of them might turn out useful, especially the part about the stranger coming across an undead servent still bound to Mordrog, go right ahead and use it freely. After all, my postings are solely based upon your work on this story.
As to my offer to proofread stuff, well usually anything that is proofread isn't posted right away. So, if you have no problem with your typos still being in your story, that's fine by me too. I can easily sidestep errors such as those while reading through stuff. I'm sure everyone else can easily do so as well.
You're most welcome - and now that part two has been posted, this story suddenly seems to have me wanting to know more, especially about the stranger! -
The dragon's part of this tale seems fairly common for many stories of dragonkind ... that of said dragon being the last of its kind, and this one seemingly entering into a whole new world before him, as if transitioning from a time of magic to a time of technology (although this story clearly doesn't state magic then; technology now!) It just has that feel, even with the "mysterious, unnamed, magic-using stranger".
Perhaps this story may've taken place long before many other tales of dragons were first told, and of course, quite possibly on another planet. Who knows.
This story also has a "park ranger" type feel to it as the mysterious stranger is roaming about the world, attempting to free all these imprisoned, mythological beasts. Not sure if I've ever encountered a story like that before other than well you know, about national parks and park rangers of our time. This part actually makes for a good story, what motivates this stranger other than just doing it out of the seemingly goodness of his heart. Which the stranger took the time to tell the dragon his motives were unclear.
So there's a major part of this story you can expand upon. Another thing to expand upon would be each individual creature's reactions to this new world; you dabbled with this a bit with the dragon, but not to a great extent. Also, has you've had the dragon & the stranger state in your story - wouldn't the dragon decide to seek out other imprisoned creatures, possibly assisting this stranger in some way, maybe if even to assemble the mythological creatures into some kind of force to strike back against humanity for their enslavement? Perhaps the creatures could all gather forming a defense force to protect themselves from future enslavement. There's also the possibility, since the dragon has been ensorcelled for 500 years, that certain creatures would still be cursed, yet now be dead carcasses, or worse yet, undead servants of this evil, dark lord. Lots of options you can take with this route.
There's a few typographical errors (which in turn cause some grammatical errors...)

((Yeah, I know...and I could've posted the imprisoned post's into an earlier post - whoops. It just came to me at the time. Will try to slow it down a bit now.))
Negative Rise had to stop upon seeing the green skinned creatures just sunning themselves (well, they did appear to be lazing around in this volcanic atmosphere as a lizard would!) -'Nah,' he thought to himself. 'Best not to disturb them.'- Even if any of them happened to have spotted him, now they wouldn't, as Rise melted into the shadows of the volcano (of course, his black skin would definitely stand out in this environ...but makes it SO MUCH more easier for him to essentially disappear in any shadow of anything.) He kept moving, roaming around the base of the volcano, following it all around.
It was when he decided to look upwards that he noticed the crystal-like 'tree' that appeared to be 'growing' in the middle of the volcano. -'Interesting,' Negative Rise thought to himself.- He bent his knees, nearly crouching, then leapt straight up, landing on the rim of the volcano.-'Very interesting indeed!'- A crooked, evil smile tried to appear on the demon's face, yet it never came to fruition. Completely incapable of smiling, even upon such a discovery, the demon nevertheless felt a pleasing sensation run throughout his body.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The galloping beast continued on its way, seemingly empowered to seek out its destination despite any obstacle: anything that tried to harm the creature would now be facing something slightly more fierce. The armored creature would now be nigh-indestructible as its very essence was being augmented by the prisoner's psionic infiltration, coupled with the being's extremely high will to be free. For Shortoth Graxin would be free at last, after 900 centillion, a new avatar of the dark god Graxus would once again terrorize a world. -
The prisoner inside the pebble had detected something - some form of life on this new world. The thought-signal was then amplified by the prisoner's desire to escape. Whatever form of life this was - was soon to be twisted and tortured as the prisoner lured the creature towards the pebble.
The armored carapace covered creature barreled towards the direction of the pebble. Soon, the prisoner would be free... -
Negative Rise leapt over the cliff-like edge of the barren, rocky piece of the shattered planet that had been pulled into another planet. What he landed on was a shattered remnant of an ancient, seemingly mid-to-early 21st century Earth city building. He looked up into the skies, trying to discern any means of direction on this makeshift planet. Whether or not he seen a bright star providing this planet with any light was irrelevalent. The black orbs that would constitute his eyes were almost immediately drawn to a massive volcano that stood off in the distance.
Since it was in front of him, he called the direction towards the volcano north. He spun around, a complete one-eighty as he looked back to make sure the volcano was directly behind him now. Off in the distance he spotted what appeared to be the skyline of another city, beyond some vast plain. South. Turning to his left and right, nothing but ruin and devastation.
"So, still no clue as to where I am," he muttered to himself, although his voice did seem to echo in the emptiness, "Guess the volcano is as good a place as any to begin with," he chuckled. If the city was anything as he had imagined, there were bound to be inhabitants there, any number of lifeform that he could perhaps corrupt the souls of. That was better left for later.
Negative Rise stepped towards the volcano, enveloping himself in darkness. With each step, the darkness seemed to flow around him as a bubble, and he would appear as a glob of night on an empty backdrop of open plains. Then, the darkness seemingly propelled him forward at an alarming rate. After all, everyone knew that darkness was far, far faster than light.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Some distance away, on a rocky outcrop of some mountain range...
The pebble laid still for what felt like a millenia to the prisoner inside. It had only been 10-15 minutes, though.
The prisoner's thought patterns began to emanate from the pebble. He would need a new shell to possess, afterall. In a three-hundred sixty degree diameter, the thought patterns raced forth, seeking out any sign of intelligent or semi-intelligent life on this planet.
He would soon be free if anything was detected. -
About 900 centillion (a centillion being 10^303rd power) years ago...(Yes, so I'm retconning the very age of the universe itself that I've used before. I think this time I'm making the universe MUCH older than what I've previously RP'd with. I'm also only bringing in two characters.)
Code:Present Day Kalderi: This once war ravaged planet, engulfed in struggle after struggle from many numerous wars beyond comprehension, has endured nearly two millenia of peace. The Kalderian humans have made numerous technological, scientific, medical, and various other advances during both times of war and peace. Now, the people strive for vastly superior technological discoveries as they take advantage of one of the longest periods of peace in the planet's history. Each and every race of the planet, however, does not deny the existence of the ancient Gods that once fought for utmost control over this one planet and the very galaxy it resides within. The Kalderian Gods once imposed many strange, bizarre beliefs in the populace of the planet, but long ago unchained themselves from the need for such things as "worship" and "belief". Many High Priests of Kalderi have even claimed the Gods never needed such things from their creations: they simply were and would always be.Kalderi. The world had been engulfed in a war of mortal men for over 500 years. The Dark World Emperor Shortoth, a creation of the dark gods of the galaxy Graxus, had enslaved, killed, tortured and many of the mortal races: human, elven, dwarven, orcish, fey of numerous types. If it breathed the mortal breath of life, Shortoth enslaved it or killed it. Many species were wiped out during his reign. The Celestial Gods had created a being with which to ruin his rule over this measely rock of a planet. The 'corporeal avatar' just happened to finally discover & breach his fortress, and then challenge the World Emperor on the 400th centennial of his reign. For the next century, the two seemingly immortal beings would be locked in combat, striking, parrying, healing; the Dark World Emperor, who had known nothing but victory after victory during his rule, would finally be felled by the divine, seemingly unstoppable will of the hero Obligo. Yet, Shortoth was not dead. Merely incapacitated, the body of the Dark World Emperor would be examined not by doctors or scientists, but by the holiest devotees of the Celestial Gods. They would discover that, very similar to Obligo, Shortoth was just a corporeal shell for the immortal essence of the overlord of the Dark Gods - Graxus. They would go on to explain to the heroic Obligo that the only way they could deal with this problem was by isolating this dark essence into a divine prison - something that would be blessed by the High Priests themselves, with powers from the Celestial Gods flowing into this prison. Their task would prove to be anything but as simple as that, however. The very essence of Graxus flowed through this mortal shell with almost infinite strands: each strand would have to be isolated and imprisoned individually. It would take, as the High Priests explained, miracles beyond miracles and about another 500 years, to complete this said task. Obligo would not live long enough to see this task completed, as the Celestial Gods deemed their creation worthy of returning to the Heavens. This 'corporeal avatar', however, would find life & purpose again, however, due to events manipulated behind the scenes during the 480 years after Obligo lost his mortal struggle with life thus being returned to the Heavens. The various High Priests that Obligo once consulted with on the imminent task of dispatching the Dark World Emperor had immediately begun their prayers, searches, and seperation of the near-infinite threads of essence bound within Shortoth. What they failed to take necessary steps to defend against, however, was their biggest downfall: interference from agents of and even the very Dark Gods themselves. They would succeed in their task, but at the highest cost of all. At first, once a strand was seperated and imprisoned, the High Priests locked each prison away, deep within a secret, well guarded (but not kept secret or guarded well enough) vault of unimaginable magnitude. The Dark Gods watched, veiled by the clouds of the god of ash and further hidden by the shadows of the god of the night. They sent numerous agents, one after another it seemed, to unlock the secret location of the vault; thus gaining access to the vault's contents. Many of these sinister agents of evil failed, but the ones that succeeded...it was enough. Five hundred years had passed. The vault had been filled with every single imprisoned essence of Graxus that had been bound in Shortoth. The vault even contained the fallen body of Shortoth, itself adorned with a few of these "prisons" and also locked within a divine prison. The Dark Gods empowered and created many new, sinister agents to assault the vault under a new veil of shadow, thus hiding their hidden agenda from the Celestial Gods as they started up a new "divinity war". A new group of humans had discovered this evil plot, valiantly yet futiley attempting to prevent the vault from falling into the hands of evil. However - they did manage one small victory over the Dark Gods: If the Dark Gods wanted these various prisons - they would have to wander for eons upon eons attempting to find each and every one of them.
These divine powers even knew of the "Builders" - their existence in the universe but a mere cosmic blip like so many other vastly superior races that have come and gone within the span of time & space. What they didn't know was the Builders' project, the "Patchwork World", would have such an immense impact on many civiliations throughout the universe. Sure, they were able to shield their own galaxy from this creation, but after time nearly forgot about the very presence of such a place. The Dark Gods stirred once again, themselves weary of peace and "good-will" towards their Celestial counterparts.
Unknown to both sides to of this divine pantheon, however, was how one of the "divinely-protected prisons" of the essence of Graxus lost its protective barrier, the evil within actively attracting one of the threads from "Patches"...the tiny pebble of a prison, chosen for its size and holding an unknowingly mixture of the essence of Graxus with a dark shred of personality of the being Shortoth (all these prisons hold these mixed prisoners - it was near impossible to seperate the essence of Graxus without also extracting some personality of Shortoth - each incarnation, once unleashed, holds vastly different and sometimes contrasting powersets from the next. Each of these prisoners also hold differing names - none of them have the same name.)
Patches:
Another thread, another strand, had extended itself away from the convoluted mass known as Patches to its inhabitants. This thread was far different from all the rest: it seemed to be the only one of its kind to extend itself further away from the Patchwork World than others that were pulling in pieces of the universe from the same dimension Paragon City resided in. Sure, there were perhaps other threads that had ventured further back in time, or across seemingly infinite other dimensions; however, this one seemed to just travel futher than any other across normal space. The thread latched onto the very first thing that it was allowed to: a tiny pebble, itself consisting of material found on Primal Earth itself. After all, this tiny pebble seemed to hold no significance whatsoever that would give away its origins. Also as mentioned previously, the Kalderian Pantheon knew of these threads from the Patchwork World - for many millenia they would actively destroy these threads from tearing apart anything within their own realm of control. Yet, after time they forgot - the threads from Patches had seemed to stop venturing so deeply out into space. So, when this new thread appeared, the Celestial God of Kalderian Time & Space decided to allow the thread to take the pebble. Unwittingly sending an imprisoned piece of one of the most ancient, darkest Gods ever in existence, along with a slice of the soul it inhabitated which just so happened brought about one of the darkest periods in the human-populated world of Kalderi that the Celestials created and defended, straight to a world that seemed tailor-made for such a being to take control of.
That pebble was just now entering the atmosphere of the Patchwork World, itself protected by the darkest of magics from the overbearing heat of atmospheric entry. The tiny pebble thudded into the ground, the dark barriers preventing the pebble from becoming buried under debris and lodged within the earth, which in turn would prevent the pebble from being hidden for countless more eons. The prisoner inside would not stay imprisoned much longer.

Another thread, another planet elsewhere:
The ebon-skinned demon had seen his fair share of oddities before. As his massive, protruded, hellish claws buried themselves deeply within his latest victim, his eyes did not take in the glory of this recent kill - no, rather, they were focused on the strange, seemingly near invisible thread that had suddenly and violently penetrated the earth beneath the feet of the two vast armies locked in eternal combat on this sad, desolate rock of a planet. Many of his fellow demonic brethern also noticed the anomaly. What happened next brought both armies to a standstill. The very soil beneath their feet rumbled. For a while, it seemed the entire planet shook, caught in the throes of a planet-wide quake, no doubt some divine trick to bring both supernatural armies to a standstill.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" the ebon-skinned demonic warrior, himself appearing to be dressed in simple Earth apparel (although it was merely an illusion of being clothed as such!) howled at the top of what would've been his lungs had he any. "I will not be denied a victory here! Not like this!" The demon threw his bloodied hand into the air, blood still flowing down the protruded claws, over his tightly clenched fist.
The divine host across from the demonic legions were as bewildered as the ebon-skinned demon, and the angelic captain of the host held its sword aloft, high in the air. "Seems our heavenly father has other plans today!" he shouted back to his host.
The black-skinned demon thrust his clawed, bloodied hand forward, extending his index finger at the angels. "ATTACK!!!!!!!!!!!" the demon screamed at his legion, "Kill ALL of them! We'll have roast angel for dinner tonight!"
As the thread retracted this chunk of earth, the opposing armies once again clashed with each other.
As it had been for many eons beforehand, such clashed between heavenly hosts and demonic legions came down to one, almost stoic battle between the divine captain and the hellish Legate. (It was of no coincidence the Romans adopted this ranking structure, after all!) Nearing its final destination, the chunk of earthern sod where the two armies had fought was now littered with the fallen, dead bodies of angel and demon alike.
Negative Rise strode forward, walking amongst the bodies with ease, as he had once inhabited a portion of Hell similarily decorated. As the angelic captain extended his wings, hovering over the mass of bodies while slowly, steadily advancing towards the demon, Negative Rise thrust his left hand out, dark energies flowing around it as it smashed in the skull of what seemed to be a recuperating angel. Then, he shook his bruised and lacerated left fist forward, the unbloodied claws within his left arm being revealed for this final confrontation. Then, the two divinities rushed toward one another -
The thread retracted into the confines of the Patchwork World. The chunk of the barren world thudded into a desolate, decaying city portion of the planet. Negative Rise had leapt up, launching himself towards the angel, his dark shields resounding as the divine sword struck into them - as he wrapped his massive, muscular arms around the host captain, the two suddenly found themselves plummeting a bit further than either of them expected: an unexpected result of aerial combat for the demon, and a near-mortal wound for the angel has Negative Rise managed to use the sucker as a cushion upon impact.
"You're dead," Negative Rise rasped out, his clawed left hand swiftly, efficiently penetrating, bashing and crushing through the skull of the angel.
The demon stood up. Thrusting both hands downward, still-wet blood dripped off the furocious claws, staining the corpse of the angelic captain for a brief moment before the body started to rapidly decay and disintegrate into nothingness, as had the many bodies of both armies done just as the chunk of the alien world thudded into Patches just mere moments ago.
"Now," Negative Rise looked around, surveying the very strange, discombobulated surroundings, "where in the Nine Hells am I?" -

Well, the spirit world in DA is vastly different from the spirit world of Croatoa then - and when I think fey/fairy, I don't think of dead/spirits/demonic/angelic beings, I associate those as beings that are actually "alive".
Anyways, spirit worlds aren't normally accessible to us living humans. Apparently, we're only good enough to enter such places when we're DEAD. Also, I just thought Dark Astoria would be a fitting locale to place the entrance to the Netherworld, which is why the Banished Pantheon are sooo attracted to the forsaken chunk of land. Yes, I know from the link I posted one of the minor gods of the BP -thinks- one of their major gods is buried there - but hey, this IS Paragon we're talking about here - with Oranbega underneath it, why not also be an entrance point to the Netherworld?
Oh - interesting: Definition of Fey So, the boundary breaking down in Croatoa isn't to a spirit world but rather to a supernatural world. Where witches and redcaps and wisps and other type creatures would dwell.
Yeah, I still prefer DA holding a hidden entrance to the Netherworld idea. Typically, when speaking of a "netherworld" - we're discussing things of a dark nature, shadows, but also to dwelling places for the dead such as Purgatory, Heaven, Hell, Sheol - there was another place mentioned in this thread as well. I'm sure all religions have some form of these places in their texts. Of course, all these places would also be supernatural, naturally (yes that was intended.) They're not commonly associated with fey/fairy creatures, however. Except maybe Heaven but that's a whole different place, as is an actual Hell. So, we're narrowing the Netherworld mentioned in CoH/CoV down to: Sheol, Purgatory-type places. Or a realm where dark/ethereal/shadowy figures inhabit (hence the whole dark power association, however, a lot of dark powers also steal life from the living - granted some keep someone else living, but not all dark powers do this.) A netherworld would be pretty hellish to any normal living creature, as well - so why can't it be CoH's equivalent of Hell?
-SIGH- what the hell am I doing...I just think it would be nice if the devs added an entrance somewhere, anywhere in the game, to the Netherworld. I just happen to think Dark Astoria is the PERFECT place for such an entrance. If you don't agree fine, whatever. Chalk the Netherworld zone up as a "never gonna get" place along with the moon zone... -
I'll look it up in-game later then because I can't find it on the wiki (is it on test?)
Like I said in my post, those were just suggestions anyway. -
I am NOT saying that Dark Astoria IS the Netherworld, rather what I'm suggesting is that:
Two ley lines run through Astoria. Astoria would then be a nexus point, and this nexus point in Astoria is - the entrance to the Netherworld.
Not this ridiculous notion ofQuote:Besides, spirit world, netherworld, heaven, hell, sure - there's differences, but they all pretty much have one thing in common: Only the dead dwell in these places. And, according to the lack of links, I think the devs are all rewriting, or just haven't gotten around to re-posting, the histories of a lot of the places in Paragon and the Rogue Isles.Dark Astoria is the Spirit World border breaking down, the same as Croatoa/Salamanca.
So why not just go with Astoria being a nexus point, which just so happens to be the entrance to the Netherworld? Would FINALLY give me, and quite possibly a bunch of YOU OTHER PLAYERS, reason to frequent the zone again.
It would also conveniently explain why Astoria went pretty much unscathed during the Rikti invasion (which I am basing on info about the zone found on the paragon wiki at wiki.cohtitan.com). -
AH! Found it - I made a list of all the origin based packs that have been released to date and what all the give you. I'll list these (with their emotes and powers), then offer up a suggestion based on this list. Bonus powers from each pack are clipped by the **.
Cyborg pack (Technology) - *Self-Destruct* /emotes: robotdance, powerup, powerdown
New aura - Combat aura +New costume pieces
Magic pack (Magic) - *Mystic Fortune* /emotes: cardtrick, juggle, jugglemagic, jugglefire, juggleelectricity [NOT SURE if all these emotes are exclusive to this pack]
Costume change emotes: Spell Cast, Spin, Lightning, Presto Change-o! + New costume pieces
Science Pack (Science) *Cosmetic Surgeon* /emotes: experiment, calculate
Costume change emotes: Drink Formula, Super Serum +New Costume pieces
Martial Arts Pack (Natural) *Ninja Run* /emotes: bringit, pushup Costume change emotes: Smoke Bomb, Ninja Leap +New costume pieces
Since *Shadowy Presence* is being offered with the Going Rogue Complete Collection, it's making my decision on a mutant based power for the mutant pack a difficult one.
Ok, based on all that - now my suggestions for a mutant pack =
Mutations Pack (Mutant) *Mutated DNA* [toggle: +PsiDefense(Special), +Def(All), +Res(All)note: very minor bonuses] /emotes: enfrenzied, mutagenicgrowth (from normal size to max size for a few seconds, almost like alakazamreact), mutagenicshrink (from normal size to tiny size for a few seconds) Costume change emotes: Mutate [also known as: Morphing, Transforming] (character goes from looking human to mutant state), Phase In (character's mutant form "phases" into view as if appearing from the -Phase- power), Phase Out (character's human form "phases out" of view and replaced by the mutant form)
+New costume pieces (hair, natural claws, new spines, new tails, "skins", and other stuff I can't think of at the moment or stuff that has already been mentioned.)
I dunno. Just ideas, and all probably difficult to pull off. -Shrugs- Yes, I ran out of ideas once I hit the "what's the bonus power gonna be" phase of posting this. -
History of Dark Astoria according to the Paragon Wiki
OK - so it's not much to go on here, and I THOUGHT histories of all the locations in Paragon City were supposed to be on the main cityofheroes.com page. Thought there was gonna be more info about DA than what I discovered NOW. What I'm about to post, however, shouldn't be too much of a stretch.
So, here we go - what if the Banished Pantheon didn't discover their ancient, banished deities, but rather - a portal into the very Netherworld itself. The gateway to the Netherworld lying beneath the very soil of Astoria. It would explain why DA is STILL enshrouded in fog to this day, as somehow - the Rikti invasion (and subsequent 2nd invasion) managed to rupture that gateway (but only slightly, which is why we haven't seen an all-out infestation of Netherworldly beasts, demons and so on and so forth.)
Another disturbing revealation: Also on the CoH mainpage, the BP are not listed in the "Know Your Adversary" section of the Game Info tab. Seems not everything went smoothly during the transition from the old site to this new one. (There USED to be a ton of "Top Secret" links too - what happened to all of those?)
So, I say, new zone: Netherworld
Entrance: Dark Astoria (somewhere underground, of course. Besides, how else could Adamastor so easily appear in this zone time and time again? Because DA is not only a massive ley-line nexus point, but also the entrance to the Netherworld!)
Of course there would be tons of missions, new contacts, badges, the works to go along with the zone being the Netherworld.
Also: Dark Astoria could also very well be the spot where Baron Zoria so long ago ventured to and discovered the entrance to Oranbega (CoT do inhabit DA, according to Paragon Wiki!) However, also according to the Paragon Wiki, Oranbega was "accidently discovered" by the Rikti, and DA remained relatively unscathed by the Rikti during the first invasion - so. I'm gonna have to say it - Dark Astoria HAS to be a nexus point where the entrance to the Netherworld can be found. -
As of lately it always seems like I'm going after CoT, be it in radio or paper missions, or just wherever. It just HAS to be more CoT, doesn't it? -SIGH-.
I'd MUCH rather see a portal to the Netherworld open up in Dark Astoria and have an event with a bunch of BP, CoT, demon summoning masterminds, and the works happen. Put that in the lineup for future scheduled events! -
Comic Con going on here during the M&G: Motor City Comic Con
Some playboy playmates will be there.
ALL of Pinnacle should be there. 'Nuff said. -
I think I'm up to over 140 alts in this game across 2 accounts. I have not taken advantage of the free server transfers because of this situation. I have no need to move toons anywhere. If I want to be on a server on any particular occasion - I have a toon there.
Now, I just need access to the Euro servers. (Oh yeah, can't. No transfer to those servers for me - bah.)
Pinnacle will always be my home server due to the fact it's the first server I ever logged into with my very first toon which I still have. Plus my first 50 toon, and quite a collection of other toons. I have my own SG there, which I will not move the founder of that SG out of.
As to the activity on Pinnacle - hey, the more, the merrier. Could always use more people on this server, and I'll always be recruiting for five (5) [Yes, FIVE] SG's on this server. Personally, I always enjoyed Pinnacle's active, yet lower population status, but hey, no need to be so reclusive, you know? So head on out here to the Drunk Server, pour yourself a stiff drink, pull up a barstool, and sit back and relax. Let the good times roll!
(Yes, I do have characters on Virtue as well. Quite neglected toons, but they're there nontheless.) -
Jimmy's not allowed into Dee's cookie jar... >_>
Hurry back Dee! Get better soon! We shall protect the cookie jar! -
Where's the screenshots at?
-
I thoroughly enjoyed Ruin's "Letter".
Spoken like a true villain, using villainous language, all the while with a clear vision of his own goals going into something with astronomical odds against his own survival. I'd like to see some more letters from villainous members of Omega Team! -
Hey Dee - just a couple posts before yours, KOIS posted that he won't be able to make it!
Maybe you can convince your SO to "make" the time to show up?
Maybe? -
I have over 130 alts on my 1st account. I recently got a 2nd account started up (and haven't even cashed in on the 2 free character slots!)
My home server is Pinnacle, however, with it having 35 character slots used up (not too many 50's, maybe 5-6, all others are 1-49), I have to use all those other servers to create all my other alts on. Some of my alts are mere clones (mostly in name only, not sure if I have any TRUE clones [name+AT+origin+powersets+power colors+costumes]).
None of my toons are really bogged down with influence/infamy. ALL of my 50's are on Pinn (and I have no desire to move any of em, with the exception of one, and I'll have to think long on that one, plus see about replacing that one on Pinn. I can't just go moving a toon from Pinn to another server without keeping the name, you know?) Two of my 50's are intricately tied to my main, near solo SG on Pinnacle, then there's my namesake toon at 50 (who is STILL a member of the very first SG I joined in game when I started playing.) My two level 50 villains on Pinn are staying put.
I'll never delete a 50 toon. I have deleted toons before, though. I take into consideration various factors before I delete a toon, which suits me just fine. Plus there's the fact I have over 130 alts in game.
As to anyone thinking they need to move from Pinnacle due to the low pop issue - well ... don't let the door hit your backside on the way out. Pinnacle is the most awesome server in this game. If anyone absolutely needs to jump ship due to their friends moving servers ... people, just roll new toons. You can keep your toons here on Pinn. We'll even toast ya'll on your eventual return. If going through the grind just isn't your cup of tea, can't say I don't blame ya. -
Well, nevermind - RMA for refund approved. No more ATI for me.
-
650W Power supply. I think I have enough juice.
-
OK. I've done a clean install of the drivers. Followed it step-by-step:
1) Uninstall all ATI software & drivers.
2)Rebooted to safe mode, ran driversweeper to eliminate any and all ATI & nVidia display drivers (also deleted some leftover ATI stuff like folders and stuff)
3)Rebooted to normal mode, closed out the Hardware wizard, DL'd the 9.8 drivers for my card off the manufacturer website at www.sapphiretech.com
4)Installed the 9.8 drivers and CCC.
Now, when I pull up the CCC, and enable Fast Write, it auto-checks the retest button, and tells me to restart. After the reboot, Fast Write (and all the AGP stuff) is turned off.
Next?
Oh, and I still get the atioglxx.dll crash error popup screen. -
Pop-up error messages:

How in the world do I fix this?
