I challenged you earlier to apply for a position as one of their freelance writers. If you believe you can do better, submit any or all of your published writing as part of your résumé. If they think they can use you, you have your foot in the door and can now put your writing where your mouth is. As I said before, "It is easier to stand by and criticize than it is to actively participate and do something about it." Otherwise, you will sound like a useless broken record.

Well, judging by the responses to this thread and others, I would say impossibly hard. Most are dead set on the perception Penelope Yin was some 14 to 15 year old or younger and it is nigh impossible for her to be "23." I call that the 'Horse Blinder Affect."

You would be surprised to know what gaming companies do in bringing more writers into their stable. Freelancers come and go. You have core writers, 1st tiers, 2nd tiers, and the rest who are taking on small part honing their skills. Paragon could have 25 or 30 freelancers in the fold and they are doing a number of the writings now. The core writers, whether they be the developers themselves or not, develop and write the main storyline, like SSA or Going Rogue, and so on.

Believe you me, I know a number of fans and forum members who joined the ranks of freelance writers to help develop and write. Even those who were critical of the work put out. Therefore, it does happen and could happen here. You never know which developer is watching, reading looking for some person(s) that might be a good addition to the stable.

In a setting like the class you teach? No, you won't see things like that. As you said, they want to impress their classmates. However, outside of that setting, it is a different story. When away from 'Adults,' you know, the old farts and fartesses, they let their hair down and act the fool letting their inhibitions go.

Is all this way? No, like I mentioned early, most do. My experiences with my own children and others had me shaking my head saying, "Damn, my dad was right. I should've listened to him and his wisdom."

Penelope is your classic cheerful bubbly young woman whose positive outlook on life drives her. My youngest is like this, except she is far more mature at 15 than her sisters were at 19. On top of that, she is a genius. Put all of that together and I am more worried about her than I was the other too. She will know how to get away with things. That is scary! lol

I gather you do not have any 17 to 19 year old kids, specifically a daughter. It is a known parental fact that most, not all, but most teenagers lose their minds after turning 13 and do not regain their faculties until on or after their 21st birthday. While that is a joke, it does hold a certain amount of serious to it.

I have three girls. Two of them are 20 and older. Both and I mean both at 17 - 19 acted like 14 year olds in mannerism, attitude, and behavior. That is common. Boys, OMG, are worse. Girls mature quicker than boys do; however, raising a male child is easier than raising a female.

Therefore, based on my experience as a dad, and those experiences from many friends who are parents, Penelope's actions in Faultline reflect the actions of a young girl the age of 18 or so. You and the others may not be able to see or accept this. That is natural. I could not have accepted it myself when I did not have children of that age either. Nevertheless, facts are facts, and clearly, Penelope actions reflect these facts.

  10. I am not sure how to explain this, but here it goes.

First, I am running Maria Jenkins’ missions with my SG mate's Defender. My character is my 47 lvl Electric Armor/Energy Melee tanker. My first mission is taking out Infernal and his minions.

While battling the first few spawns I noticed a green icon pop-up where my other power icons are, this had a shield and a cross. I had never seen that before on this toon. I thought it was something similar to the Invulnerability power icons. When I clicked on it, it said, "Invulnerable." Wait. What?

I do not have that power ability nor did my teammate. Therefore, I ignored it at first. However, it appeared again and even double stacked alongside my double stacked Damage Resistance from Might of the Tanker. This happened all during the night while I played in Maria's story arch. I looked through my power's enhancements to find if anyone could actually make my tank invulnerable. None showed anything.

The only thing I can think of is that MoT's proc has something to do with it. Not that I am complaining here, far from it, I like the idea that this happens. I would just like to know where it came from and how.

    Has anyone faced this before?

As I said ... open to interpretation.
Very good. Now that you mentioned it, yes I did notice those oddities about Manticore. What you say here could be what happens. I am of the mind set that she mind walked into Wade's mind. However, this I find more plausible as it makes more sense based on the information you have given. I like it. Thanks.

Sylph, you, and Techbot Alpha need to go ask the developers to allow you on the team as freelance writers and contribute your writing abilities instead of sitting on the sidelines and complaining and bashing the developers. If you have any published material, submit that as proof you have the credentials to write. I am sure they will consider your published work if it is of any quality.

Now her return would ideally be... less insane if she is to return to being a hero... maybe taking over a brain dead body, being put into a mechanical one that can house her consciousness, or take one from a villain... or even becoming a fully psychic entity without a need for a body. This is comic-book fantasy after all.

I just wonder whichever one it is, how Manticore will handle it...
This is my belief too. Furthermore, I do believe that Psyche’s body, will, with the help of Numnia, return to life and Psyche rejoins with it though she will suffer an extended recovery time.

Furthermore, her conciseness is in Wade's own mind. He may have her and Statesman's powers; however, using them with the knowledge and experience like the former owners is a very different issue. This is his Achilles Heal in my opinion and his downfall. Sister Psyche will battle him in his mind while we battle his physical being. All I have to say is, Wade is screwed. He is out of his league. Oh, he might be able to cause a lot of damage, kill people too. In the end, his desires for god-hood will go up in smoke, literally.

Manticore...I believe he is a broken man. Forced to kill the one person whom he truly loved beyond all reason will do that. Sure, Psyche told him he had no other option. Stunning her would not work. She was beyond that kind of action based on what she was saying. I believe his effectiveness as a hero and member of the Phalanx is over. For good? Don’t know; however, for now? Yes. He is untrustworthy to act responsibly or use any kind of "good" judgment. Yeah I know when did he ever. If Positron is any type of leader, he will not allow Manticore join in any operation dealing with Wade, even if it means putting him down and behind bars.

    This.

It is my experience (dating and planning to marry a Filipino) that most women of Asian descent look far younger than they truly are. The woman of my heart is 25; however, she looks like she 18. My oldest daughter is 23 and she does not look a day over 18. She complained at 18 that she looked like she was 13. It was not until she was not until she turned 20 that her body caught up with her chronological age. All my girls (3 in total) are experiencing the same thing. That is the case here with Penelope Yin. This does not need rewriting because it does not gel. That is a hollow argument. What we see with Yin happens today.

The debate about Miss Yin's age in Faultline is based purely on speculation or assumptions. They, the Developers and Designers of this game, have let it be known that the young lady whose daddy was lost is now a fully grown woman. 5 years ago when i9 launched is 5 years of game time for this game. She's in her "early 20s" according to the description when you meet her in the first mission, not 23 as this thread's originator supposes. They don't give you an exact year simply because that is the smart thing to do in allowing flexibility with the character. This is done with most gaming universes, leaving some ambiguity for involving people, places, and events.

Not believing it is the problem of the person not willing to accept it. Ranting and raving about it is not going to change the facts. Calling the Devs out for making mistakes in the timeline or retconning history for continuity sake when there is no actual quantifying proof, is a reactionary’s ploy. It is wrong. One can accept it or not. That is not going to change anything. Ms Yin is now a young woman who is maturing in her powers. It is what it is.

I for one, was extremely pleased to have her part of my team last night alongside my teammate. We absolutely obliterated everyone in a timely manner and we did not speed through this either. 1:22 minutes after starting, we completed the mission. I said to my best friend that I would have Yin on my team any time. If what she can do now is any indication of what she will be like in a few more years with some seasoning under her belt, thugs and super villains are on notice.

I expect to have a challenge in doing that, but finding myself being beaten to a pulp with no END to spare just isn't fun.

Regarding I/O's: I start slotting basic I/O's at lvl-12, then switch to SO's at 22. I start filling in my I/O sets at lvl-27. That combination has served me well for 30-odd characters so far.
Tank, endurance, and enemies? I feel your pain. For the longest time my Shield/Hammer tanker consumed endurance like a M1-A3 burns fuel! I have him at 38 now and his endurance under control. However, I had to put in extra END Red IOs until I was able to use better IO sets that helped endurance. I can still burn up endurance quickly if I"m not careful. However, for the most part, I'm happy with how he's turning out.

If you like this character, and it sounds like you do, keep at it until you get through this period. I'm sure once you break past 38 lvl, you'll be happy you you did so. I've seen a Dark/Dark tank at 50+3 in action. All I can say...OMG what a beast!

I found Death Shroud to be my problem for draining endurance. My Dark/Dark scrapper does fairly well without using it. I plan to drop that shortly. I have found the biggest offender for endurance drain is sprint. Even after slotting an END Red IO, I still have to turn it off. I also have at least one END RED IO in each of the toggled armor powers and attack powers too. I three slot my Stamina with END Mod IOs. I have not reached the point where I am using IO sets yet that will help with recovery and other things. I plan to do so when I can start using lvl 30s. Right now, with my set up, my endurance drain is manageable as long as I do not get into combat more than 2 or 3 at a time in sequence. However, that is always a problem for most builds until you get up to mid to upper 30s.

This is what I am seeing too. Most of the time I'm getting a 3 stack out of it. I have TF slotted up with Crushing Impact, I do not want to break up my set for the proc, and otherwise I might try it there. I will leave it in Bone Crusher, as I am happy with how it functions.

On a different topic, I noticed something when fighting Malta that surprised me. My Tank uses Electric Armor and when I found myself on the receiving end of a Sapper's hate, all I took was damage, no loss of endurance. I think once during the entire night (six missions), I suffered a loss of endurance and minimum loss at that. My energy resistance is 90% thanks to Grounded and Charged Armor. However, it is Grounded that really squashes the endurance siphon a Sapper causes. That was a pleasant revelation for me.
  18. Oh yeah, that is an amusing thing to see. What's even funnier is the reaction of low level characters coming through the door to find themselves ambushed in City Hall! I witnessed a 2nd Troller faceplant because it appeared they were too shocked to believe what was going on.

    That's easy to reconcile.

Crey, it's their fault for the reemergency of the Dinosaurs.

Crey faces a growing menace as the Devouring Earth threatens their operations, including genetic experiments in their secret Eden facility.

In order to fight 'fight fire with fire,' Crey geneticists and scientist began a program to test the viability of growing dinosaur-sized creatures to use against the Devouring Earth. After a year of testing and growing of selected carnivore type creatures, Crey began to bring their new weapon online into full production.

However, unbeknown to Crey, Devouring Earth learned of Crey's plans through their own intelligence network. Consequently, they staged a raid against the hidden underground facility where they captured all the eggs and young creatures. Hamidon’s minions presented these newly acquired life forms to him and he promptly blessed them as Devouring Earth's new Primal Creatures. Devouring Earth introduced spoors into the creatures, much like those used on humans to effect change. Moreover, these were different in that they were for programming their brains making them equally intelligent to the other Devouring Earth members.

When the first creatures reached the maturity through an accelerated rate designed by Crey and modified by Hamidon, they were unleashed in Eden where they would thrive and wreak havoc on Crey and any other being no of the Devouring Earth. Thus, the dinosaurs owe their reemergence to Crey and the Devouring Earth and have set out to make Eden and the rest of the planet theirs as it was 65 million years ago.

Really? How do we account for big walking crystals, rocks, and crab grass in Eden and elsewhere in the city? On the other hand, giant monsters of many types, including a massive octopus, a big green walking blob, a true giant (Jack of Irons), a monstrous walking Pumpkin, or massive granite or crystal creatures in the Hive or Peregrine Island, plague the city. Having a T-Rex, stegosaurus, or Brontosaurus is not beyond the game's reality.
  21. The only time I've ever heard a complaint about KB was from a Stone tank. He did not like moving and wanted us to allow him do all the fighting. Every time my blaster fired off any of his energy blasts, knocking back the target(s), especially when using energy torrent. This tank complained and complained. Finally, I only used my attacks on those who were no on the tank. Eventually, I stopped supporting the tank because all my attacks for the most part, resulted in KB. Towards the end of our storyline mish, he had the gall to ask, "Why are you firing at the enemies at the fringes surrounding him?" My answer: "Because you complained about Knockback regardless of what it was."

Knockback is part of the game. Complaining about it is like complaining about an AOE plant control attack that locks everyone up. I deal with it every time my best friend and I run together every day. His Robots can blast the bad guys back pretty good. With my EA/Energy Melee tanker, I have my Whirling Hands slotted with Stupefy and the KB proc. I love seeing those flying bodies. Especially when I'm surrounded by a very large mob. It gives me breathing room when things get a bit hairy. Nice thing about knockdown, up, or back, it takes these guys a few seconds to recover and re-engage, longer if I've left them stupefied!
  22. Changing the Proc from my 'Whirling Hands' to 'Bone Smasher' did the trick. It worked as advertise. I was able to stack it the 3 times and wow. It made a huge difference for character.
  23. I have to say War Witch's reaction is pretty good...those "guilty eyes" made me laugh.

However, I have to say that of them all, Flambeaux's reactions, by far, are the best. Giving her Proton's and Percy's Valentines made my day. I love how she calls Twin Shot a 'Hussy!'

Her reaction to Percy is classic. Especially at the end...'Who is Percy Winkley and what has he done with my man?!' lol

Foreshadow her arch-nemesis? I hope you're talking past-tense. That certainly is not the case now. Both belong to W.I.S.D.O.M. along with Rose Star & Sparkle Blade. The latter not in the game yet and I hope soon will be.

According to lore (Paragonwiki) "Mirror Spirit currently focuses her attention on Foreshadow, making certain that a balance is maintained within him and that his powers do not get out of control." If there is more to this story, I've not found it in my reading.

Well, I believe the best zone for the dinosaurs to appear in is Eden. That place is perfect. Then Devouring Earth can battle for supremacy with the Dinos for control.

I would love to see them begin the rebuilding process on Boomtown and complete it in Faultline. Enough time has passed that these should be the case. Boomtown's potential is great and there is all kind of possibilities for new storyline mission arcs there. That is what I hope to see in the next few years.
