Here's an update for you about current situation on Psy-ranger. Maybe those tips helps someone.
As my friends stated no containment damage from Revolver. Also you can't craft multiple revolvers you should always re-craft one after use 30 bullets it holds. Damage is not very brilliant but shooting enemies as a finishing move really look classy on my cowboy.
Flash Arrow has a problem i think. During last night session it aggroed mobs 2 times. I know from my former TA/Psi defender Flash has some bug, sometimes when you apply it twice it creates aggro. But this time it is one time hit and even the mobs that can't see you actually get aggroed. Also as Flash arrow have a wide AoE range get ready to face large enemy groups. (which i caused last night)
Even i love Trick Arrow set, with two problematic powers i started to think another secondary for Psy-ranger. Maybe i will go Mind/PFF (force field generating belt will be a good excuse for it).Maybe i will give up that idea after all
-
OH! That means i missed the fun.
Maybe another time then. -
Hmm you have a point i think. Without ghost axe i have a chain already Mesmerize, Dominate, Revolver, AS. I don't want Ghost Axe as Psy-Ranger is an Southern Boy with good old southern manners. Yes to pistol no to Axe.
Leaving JK out of the build will let me get Posion Gas Arrow too. I am telling you this boy will be a control monster. For soloing, well it will be slow but fun (yay for dominate graphics, love that suffering villians). If i find my damage is too low still i will include Boxing, fast recharge and full containment.
EDIT: I also found another suitable attack: Baseball Bat. Nothings more american than baseball, aye?So long Jump Kick.
-
With highest regards to your opinion (which is very valuable to me, as you are the man behind my main) i am making a concept character and other pool attacks has those disadvantages:
Boxing/Kick: Lower damage. Even lower than weird damage of Jump Kick.
Flurry: Well Psy-ranger is a Telepath, with super speed fists being a totaly normal person doesn't match.
Jump Kick: Weird damage, long activision time etc. but still can't beat the coolness of athletic cowboy.
Air Superiority: Already in build. (Also this attack is known by his mentor, Psy-knight)
Mind's damage is fairly good in low levels but higher levels it becomes really weak. As i can't go into any power pool attack too. AS, Mesmerize, Dominate, Jump Kick, Revolver and maybe Oil Slick will be all the damage he can do. (Yeah i won't even use Sands of Mu either) -
I know it from this awesome guide . As AS other pool attacks doesn't suffer from it, including Epic attacks.
Actually Max i was thinking about the same thing. I noticed it during hollows versus same troll mobs (no lt or boss). Also first damage is dropping which is kinda weird. But i will control it again tonight for confirming it. (As i deleted Smokey Medic i will try to get Jump Kick before the AS on Psy-ranger) -
Yeah i think Sands of Mu doesn't get containment but with my weak memory i am remembering something about that sword from Croatoa arc get containment.
Anyway at least jump kick and if it burns Oil Slick Arrow will cover damage i hope.
Thanks for the replies.
PS: If some controller player wonders about Jump Kick, here is the deal. On my level 10ish mind troller Jump Kick does 20 damage without containment. With containment damage becomes something like 16-11, not like double base damage of Air Superiority or other pool attacks like boxing or kick. -
I started my new Mind Controller on weekend. As i wanted him to be different from Psy-knight i will make him a telepath (that means no levitate and telekinesis). So he will lack many usefull things Psy-knight have, like AM, Radiation debuffs and high damage of levitate.
As he struts around as a cowboy i thought Revolver will be a good choice to cover that damage but i don't know if it's benefit from containment. If it is i will have an empty power slot. If not i think i will cover it with another pool attack other than Air Superiority; maybe jump kick (which is strangely doesn't apply complete damage on containment). -
I wasn't around but online. I think without any replies Triassic thought it wouldn't happen.
Maybe another time mate. Psy-knight still level 44 tho. o_O
Getting a level is a hard thing. Even the AV missions we did only gave me one bar. -

In the PvE game I always prefer TP on stormies rather than Fly as its great with Hurricane, you can insta-move and repel enemies in a certain direction rather than trying to run about with it on.

Carni you are a Tsoo Sorcerer at heart. -

The TF is still bugged as far as i'm aware and will allow lvl 35+ to join as long as they have a 46+ mentor.
[/ QUOTE ]
Didn't they corrected that bug with new issue or later patch? I remember i read it somewhere.
If there won't be any replies to my event thread, i will try to get that one level to Psy-knight tonight and freely join you in that attempt. -
Heh my main still level 44. So i can't join this event.
But you can count me for others, especially for Eden
Good luck to you and others who will take place in this Task Force. -
SYNAPSE TASK FORCE AGAIN
After last week's unsuccessful event attempt i didn't want to start a new thread about a new event but then i thought it would only take a post than here we are.
As my tank still sits on level 28 there is still time for Manticore. Past week i only played with my new two heroes: Hidden Breeze and Smokey Medic. Both on level 14 at the moment and only playable TF near to them is Synapse (also there is Babbage).
Here's the details:
SYNAPSE TASK FORCE
The Fall of the Clockwork King
Contact Synapse
Zone Skyway City
Minimum Size 4 players
Level Range 15-20
Starting Day/Time: 7th June 2008, Saturday / 16:00 BST
As i mentioned i have two heroes for this Task Force:
Hidden Breeze; Ice/Mental blaster lvl 14 with stealth and superspeed, if i can get him into bank mish and get team tp temp. power he can ghost missions (not there are many ghostables. Only 3 iirc but it will help greatly on the last mission i guess.
Smokey Medic: Mind/Thermal Radiation Controller also lvl 14. As his name implies he is mostly a healer also a telepath so there is no high damage powers.
If you want to join please leave your heroes name, level, AT and maybe global chat handle.
Hope to see you there -
Umm i can't recall lower level limit for Hami as i never did it before but here's my main if it will be possible for him to join
Psy-knight: Mind/Rad/Fire Controller lvl 44 (Fly, Mutation no Recall friend (but i can get it if it is neccessary for your plans) also no Total Domination or EMP Blast only AoE powers are: Mass Hypnosis, Terrify, Mass Confusion and Fire Ball) -
-
Nice picture.
Umm but bad news for your SG mate who will be GenericheroXXX soon. Puma is a Marvel Character. -
Okay here's soloable Defender Primaries in my opinion:
Dark: Great but boring for me. Also most early powers are must have, even the rez power which is a great panic button when soloing.
Kinetics: If you are a kinetics at heart great set. I never get along well with it. Also shrugging off travel powers from your choices gives you more attack.
Radiation: Wow! Easy to solo even with Archery secondary missions like Atta. 3 debuffs, AM, independent self heal, hold toggle(which i never get) and another great hold as last tier power.
Force Fields: Yeah i know many will thought it is very poor for solo but it has great control options (Knockbacks, one trap and emergency invincibility). Also endurance light set which gives you more endurance to blast more often.
Storm: As storm is controllish defender set yeah soloable but never mix it with ice. (I tried it Carni and here's my thoughts) Both sets are end heavy. It is my only defender i need to rest in teams.
Trick Arrow: Without Archery secondary and higher damage your chance of survival is very high, if you don't set your game plan on Oil Slick Arrow's damage tho.
Empathy and Sonic are team builds and Cold Domination's powers have long recharges as far as i see.
Summary: In all those sets only Radiation have independent healing power which is great. For Dark and Kin you need to hit your target which means more slotting on those powers. Storm's healing is great as it is both little heal and CM but no use for self. FF and TA don't have any self healing so Medicine pool is a good idea to include builds. FF have a upper hand in that as you can heal yourself in your PFF.
Not as an offender but as a soloable defender i am thinking about a FF/Ice defender nowadays.
For secondary i am obsessed about Ice nowadays. With two holds and high damage companied with slow that set is really nice. Psychic Blast have good damage and useful side effects. Sonic has a nice -res side effect which will cause more damage. Electric Blast also have that nice -end which will leave mobs without a blue bar. That set also have a sleep (iirc Tesla Cage is a sleep) and pet. (Hmmm Dark and Storm with electricity means two pets (Dark Servant/Thunderstorm with Voltaic Sentinel) seems nice). Energy has that team-annoying KB but for solo also could be an option.
In the end soloing with defenders is more personal than other ATs. Pick one set who suits your play style. I heard some people saying TA ain't a soloable set but i soloed many missions with mine (TA/Psi) which i deleted around lvl 20 (not that i don't like him, i was leaving the game).
Hope my thoughts help you a little but as i said you are the only one who will say which set is soloable for you.
Highest Regards,

That would be shocking
After posting this i remembered somethings about water.. but not sure as usual. Old age = weak memory. -
With that power swaping thingy controllers finally recieved a new primary but that thing come to a death end i think.
So controllers left with limited choices for primaries, lesser than Scrappers whose are getting many ideas from dev team. (In an extent dominators but they are evil and still have illusion for power swap thingy)
Does anyone read or heard some ideas from devs about controller primaries. (To be honest i can't think something controllerish except the ones we have. Ummm maybe something like devices)
Thanks for your replies. -
You are amazing guys. Last night when i was trying to see Blue Steel for level up there was a surprise, that place is crowded more than i can remember.
That looks really great and good luck on your journey. -
A reminder about confusion tho, you need to apply confusion twice for bosses if you don't get overpower.
Psiphon's advice is what i use with Psy-knight. Of course as a Mind Controller he can confuse one mob at a time. Then locks down mobs and finishes them off.
Also there are many good confusion invention sets with sweet bonuses.
I can't give any advice for Creepers tho, as i never ventured in Dominators and my only Plant troller lived barely to see Coyote i have no idea about Plant controllers powers. -
:Change of Plans:
Even it seems no one interested in those Task Forces, i wanted to let you know Sunday event is canceled anyways. I'll be on my nephew's play on that day.
So if you want to do Justine Augustine or Sara Moore on Saturday it is fine (as Psy-knight is 2 bars away from level 44). Just write your characters, name, level, AT, which TF you are interested.
I am reminding it again with out 8 people in present those events won't start.
Have a nice day

I don't mean damage dealing mate, i am talking about more control powers. There are many powers provide that in defender secondaries.
In my book control=less wounds to heal and less dead team mates. For example Tesla Cage is a good hold to keep nasties away from blasters nose. Likewise Freezing beam, TK Blast, Stunning shot and many other attacks with hold, disorient, knockback. With those attacks you will get aggro but the blaster you saved will kill that mob in a blink of an eye.
I believe in over-all heroes than specialized ones; there's no need to hang on solely one set and ignore other. After all we plan our heroes in our own ways, for our own taste.
And there are no dead defenders any more, thanks to insp convert. -
You're persuming right my friend. What an Empathy defender with no attacks suppose to do when there ain't no wounds to heal.
An empath or a cleric (for other games) ain't a must, it is just a good addition to the team.
On the other hand there's "I'm no healer" debate. If you can heal it won't hurt you to hit a button.
So in short i prefer any other defender over empath/nothing defender. I didn't go into empath scene much but even on my tries i always try to think about doing something usefull for the team other than healing. For example my latest try which is deleted at level 8, i tried to pick some useful attacks from Electric Blast secondary like Short Circuit, Zapp, Voltaic Sentinel etc. Less attack then my normal defender setups but still all those powers are too useful to pass in my opinion.
I hope i can make my point clear. -
Well my dear friends, this weekend we will venture into other dimensions.
Yeah i know i said dimensions because we will do two Task Forces this weekend if we can find enough volunteers.
First on Saturday:
SARA MOORE TASK FORCE
Contact: Sara Moore
Level Range: 40 - 50
Notes: Requires 8 people
Zone: Cascade Archipelago
Location: -152, -1784, 2791.5
Primary Enemy: Circle of Thorns, Nemesis, Soldiers of Rularuu
Name: The Legend of Ruladak
Badge: Destroyer of Strength Badge
As Psy-knight is half way away from the lvl 44 (yay finally after countless months he ain't lvl 42 anymore) on Sunday we can start:
JUSTINE AUGUSTINE TASK FORCE
Contact: Justin Augustine
Level Range: 44 - 50
Notes: Requires 8 people
Zone: The Chantry
Location: 8776, 1537, -5293.5
Primary Enemy: Circle of Thorns, Soldiers of Rularuu
Name: The Saga of Faathim
Badge: Protector of Kindness Badge
Both events require 8 people as you see. So if we won't have enough people we couldn't start them. Also pointing your level is little important as both events higher level is 50 we need enough people to SK lower level heroes.
For starting time for both events i think 16:00 BST will be good.
Okay let's roll with it.
Your host will be: Psy-knight (Mind/Rad/Fire controller lvl 42) -
I was more thinking about starting a new team with new heroes from level 1 to 50. After some thinking i realized after a certain level this thing will be too boring, possibly after 30.
But if there are another ones (as you are the only one replied about it there ain't another one)we can try it at least.
For regular Knightly's Weekend Action Hour i will start a new thread.
