  1. I'd never really gone anywhere -- but my normally non-gregarious nature precludes much notice (I do alot of soloing).

That was my first Hess TF. I shall need to do it again in a less inebriated condition so that I can appreciate its subtleties. I can recall only two team wipes, but I remember heedlessly charging the nearest mobs at least once, maybe a few times (Scrapperlock: 100%).

Was there a giant Wolfpack-like robot in that last huge room, or was I seeing things?

Thanks for having me along, bodenee! Looking forward to doing another one sometime!
  2. If that's the [u]Farenheit 451[u] with Montag, the fireman who burns books, I think you meant to associate that name with Ray Bradbury. It's likely my favorite story by Bradbury. I haven't read as much Heinlein, but I particularly enjoyed [u]Stranger in a Strange Land[u], and particularly disliked [u]The Moon is a Harsh Mistress[u].

Anyway, good luck getting the name!
  3. Kudos to Raz-X (Brute) and Infection-X (Corruptor) upon the occasion of their reaching 50th level!

They're Redside blokes (obviously), but eh, I guess they're ok. (at the rate they were going, any 50 is better than no 50 at all!)
  4. Here's my experience of the event:

In true Pinnaclian fashion, I enjoyed my beverage of choice, Guinness (three large mugs, two of which were on a mostly empty stomach). I got some cool swag, I met various persons, including: Ex Libris, Cuppa, Crickette (sp?), Soul_Train, several people from Virtue, at least one person from Liberty, and from Pinnacle I met Moonlight Rider, Black Cat Coffee, and I tried to disable or incapacitate BillZBubba by inadvertantly(?) tripping him (I tried to swipe his Guinness but my ploy failed).

I know that I met some other folks and that I've simply forgotten their names/handles. I'm getting old. =(

All in all, it was a lot of fun. I didn't like the drive back to San Antonio, as that took the better part of two hours -- an accident further down 35 (past downtown) slowed everything to a crawl -- many Austin drivers apparently suffer from the chronic rubberneck malady.

I wish I could have met more folks, but I didn't read about the other local stuff that was going on until after the fact.

I took a few pictures, but I mostly stood around drinking beer. Anyway, here are the ones I took:

Crickette and Cuppa raffling stuff off

    Another of Crickette and Cuppa

Defuser regaling listeners with tales of his heroism

    Ghost Widow -- great costume!

Ex Libris, Ghost Widow, and Defuser

    The big projection screen

    various attendees

I hope to attend more events in the future. Thanks to NCSoft for putting it on and entertaining us!

Apologies to Crickette if I misspelled your name!

  5. I'm a Texas native as well, born and raised in San Antonio and currently residing there. I lived in Austin for a little while, neat place, but for the traffic.

I'll be attending the meet'n'greet, but I doubt many people would know me, either personally or via my in-game persona.

i doubt it. like most resturants with private function capability, alcatraz will have resturant space available to the gen public. <snip>

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm not familiar with Alcatraz, but I'm assuming that it is at least as large or larger than Dave&Busters-Austin. The Austin event would be well within my means to attend, as I live in San Antonio, a mere skip to the south from Austin.

Out of curiousity, I checked with the D&B in Austin, and their patron capacity is 1,320. I'm curious as to how many people were allowed to "sign up" via the NCSoft site. I'd be a little incredulous to hear that less than three days after the event was posted, thirteen hundred people who all intend to show up signed up and "closed" the signup window.

I haven't attended one of these events before, but if the response is really that overwhelming, then I'm thinking that a larger venue that can accommodate greater numbers of people is in order.

    Yeah, guess so.

The Austin one is gone now too.

I'm wondering what the difference is between "signing up" and simply "showing up". Are people turned away at the door if the place is full or something?
  8. Supergroup Name: Valiant-Alliance

    Website: www.valiant-alliance.com

    Leader: KnightOwl

Officers: Back Blast, Buddhist Punk, Greywarden, Mighty, Red-neck, Venjer

    Recruiting Officer: CATScan

Prefered Method of Contact: Forums, or in-game email

SG Description: Valiant-Alliance is a casual supergroup of friends with widely varying
playtimes and/or frequency of play, and we still enjoy the occasional
tell out of the blue from a hero we haven't seen in a while
  9. 'He-who-must-not-be-named'.

A bit unwieldy, but it has that touch of arcane mystery to it.
  10. I remember when it was easier to escape an Archvillain's death-grip than it was to simply leave the hospital (think hourglass icon).

I remember when Positron didn't look like Tron.

I remember when the flag atop City Hall would be shrouded in darkness at night.
  11. I have Fly, but it's only two-slotted and I always switch to Hover (which is 6-slotted, 3 Flight/3 Def)
in combat (L 38 BS/SR Scrapper). Part of the reason I like using Hover in combat is trying to find the
"sweet spot" above a group of enemies that will allow my PBAoE attack to hit as
    many of them as possible.

Comparison of travel speeds or the issue of arriving last to a mission are of little consequence to me
personally. I figure if I'm in a group that is too impatient to wait for me, they'll kick me out -- not
    that big a deal.

The main reason I chose Fly was conceptual. I enjoy trying to match my powers as closely as possible
with my original concepts for heroes.

I like the idea of ditching 'Group Fly' entirely from the Flight Pool and replacing it with
'Quantum Fly', i.e. a Fly that is much faster than the current version (a special effect to go with
it would be neat also). I have nothing against the concept of Group Fly, or heroes that may
be using it, it just seems to be of very limited usefulness.
