I though they were going to have one with GR, but i can't find anything about one? Granted i did a limited search, nothing pops up, and well, I figured a new TF would be a big deal. (I'd search more but i'm at work and can't spend the time.) So is there?
  2. Personally, I'd love to see new animations for Dual Pistols and Kin Melee that are much less "busy" and "dancy".

Other then that, being able to have power customison on power pools is more importenent to me then alt animations. I hate the hasten fire fists. I want to turn them off... or at the least make them look like ice/elec/or some kind of enegy effect to match the powers my guys accually HAVE.

So, it's difficult to blend fact with fiction in this case, but, if i had to hazzerd a guess, if someone ever proved themselves to be as dangerious as the Joker, and couldn't be held, like the joker, the goverment, in the intrests of public safety, whould have to put him down, reguardless of his mental issues. At the end of the day, your elected officals are there to keep the public safe. And sometimes, doing so can be a dirty job. Which is why i don't really blame Batman for Jokers constent excaping and murdering spress. It's a failing of Gothems legal system and general common sence IMO.

I've been gone awhile, but still, i'll reply.

*My* screwups are never intentional either, but they'er still screw ups, and I'm normally called to account for them where *I* work. Working for an MMO must be awsome. I guess there is the other side of the coin, the OTHER group of angry customers with pitchforks and torches wanting your head...

So it's a wash i suppose. I'm not demeanding my money back. I'm still on board. I'm just not happy with how things are playing out.
  5. Your all marketing department is batting 1000. First you inply that "your" perpurches perk was the only one that'd be offered, then a few weeks to a month later gamestop gets there own perks.... now a feature of your product, a feature you'd advertised, is being dropped. (and it just so happens to be the ONE feature i was really excited about.)

I can't say I'm happy about this. I'm quite disappointed. But there is really little i can DO about it, but shrug my sholders and go on. You are the only MMO "crack" dealer in town i enjoy, ATM, so i have nowhere else to go for my MMO fix... Such an abusive relaniship we have eh?

Indeed they are. And frankly, from my expearince, (BS/SR softcapped stalker and a DB/Ninja with def over 35%) they aren't as squishy as people make them out to be. Maybe the poor resistince based stalkers are that squishy, but my BS/SR was easy and cheap to softcap, and as a result is a mother to kill. And he brings MASSIVE burst and single target damage. I beat the heck out of AV's. And my DB accually has some decent AoE. He really does. Plus good defence, softcapped with one sml purp when needed, and a great heal.

Both of my guys can hold there own with most scrappers, both in survibility and damage, when doing a *scrappers* job in a team. That is, killing stuff. Some scrapper can almost tank, (and some CAN) this is true, and no, a stalker can't. They don't have the HP, nor the argo tools. And when you try and tank, you get hit. Even when softcapped, the number of mobs attacking you are much greater and have a much higher likekly hood of landing But, if you have a tank, a brute, or a tanking scrapper dealing with the brunt of the damage, a stalker can bring the melee damage just as good as a scrapper and have enough defence for *that* task.

Not to mention you can't ask for a better stealther for speed runs. Stalkers have there nitch and roll in a team. I love mine. And i've yet to feel overshadowed by anyother melee class in the damage dealing department.

You got me. I haven't been brave enough to call there bluff. I, will NOT abandon an team on a TF unless i HAVE too. (It has to be a real emergincy or, VERY late at night, to the point i may oversleep and be late to work the next day. Work, comes first... i have to pay the bills for the net and game after all...) And since i won't quit on them, i'm to afraid of being stuck on a tf for hours and hours if they were wrong. *shrug* I'll just take there word for it and go about my business.

Have to keep Fortitude going on several different players.
Have to keep healing most of the times.
Have to gather the team or wait for an opportunity where everyone is grouped up for both RA auras.

This is the most workout I've gotten in a long time. It's fun when I have the energy for it though :]
If the mesure of a good emp is keeping up ALL our buffs 24/7 then i'd fail that mesure. LOL.

I'll pass fort out like it's going out of style. I can keep it pretty much perma on about 4 people if i'm on top of my game. I'm happy if i have 3 perma. (I try for 4 but don't beat myself up unless i drop below 3 icons active at once.) The RA's go off whenever they are ready... and clearmind... eh, ah.. i foget i have that thing half the time... Granted, if i'm on a MSR, IT'S my primary buff i use (on non melees) but outside of that, and using it for a tank on GW in STF's, i use it reactively if i see someone stuned or see ZZZ or some such indicator they need it. It's duration is just way to short to keep it up 24/7.

and lets not forget AB, which, when i have it (i exemp alot) i use whenever it's up, normally on a blaster or a tank that seems to be struggling. (either with damage taken or endurance burn. i've seen both)

And frankly, i've found if i keep up on my forts(and give them to people that accually NEED them... namely the squishes first, unless your tank isn't tough enough to handle the argo on his own. most i've teamed with are... some need fort, most don't IMO.) and keep my ra's up, i don't need to heal all that often. (Prolly helps i'm a controller controlling too.)

My measure of sucess for my emp is, first, did we win? second did anyone die? If the answer is no, then, awsome, we, as a team, totally rock. If it's yes, i ask, could i have reailistialy have saved them? If the answer is no, the crasy scrapper was on the other side of the map alone, then, eh, it doens't count. If the answer was, yes, if you were faster on the draw, then i try harder next time.

And frankly, i enjoy an active set. I've seen some defenders, bubblers mainly, who seem to bubble the team and... just wait to do it again. Rarely attacking... or really doing much of anything... THAT would tire me out, from bordem. My FF defender is an Archer too, so, when the bubbles are up, i go wild with the arrows, a rather fast attacking set. I like to stay busy. heh.
  9. My one and ONLY Dr. Q run was... 5 years ago? Maybe 4... i lose track, but it wasn't all to long after it was added to the game... maybe 6 months tops. (had a hard time finding teams... then i found out why... lol)

It was...10 hours, give a take an hour. (9-11 IIRC. been along time ago) And frankly it was a misrable expearince. This was way back, before all the "short cuts" where added to the game in the form of pocket d porters, oro, mission recalls, and a jetpack dealer in the sharde itself. The travel times were mind boggleing for this game. The missions were boring and repteive... no AV as i recall... it just felt like the longest, PUG radio team EVER. I'm pretty sure we all stuck it out... I mean, after you've invested 6 hours your not about to just STOP. (or at least i wasn't) By the end we were all alittle snappy with eachother. It started out pretty light hearted, and by the end i think a few people wanted to kill eachother.... for verious reasons, none of which i clearly recall. Just little things exagerated by a 10 hour dragging TF.

I've never ran it again, dispite claims on my servers TF channel it can be done it 3 hours now a days. (I don't trust it... my luck is never that good...) And i never will unless it's required for something in the future, like an accolade or something. And if it ever gets tied to one, you'd better belive i'll be screaming bloody murder if it isn't revamped. (mainly at my screen as i trudge through it...)

As for the zone itself... the concept behind it is really cool. And the potental for an epic set of mission or a new raid against, prolly the biggest bad in the game, is awsome to think about. The devs really IMO need to give this zone some more love, maybe even make it coop for a new epic coop raid. But, at this point, with a whole NEW zone being added to the game that's one of the main focuses of GR itself... i don't see it happening.
  10. I'll skip "unimportent" level ups quite often when i'm actively doing something, then when i'm "done" i'll wonder off and level up.

Unimportent levels are, basically ehancment levels or even power levels if said power isn't going to make much of a different to my current effectiveness. I mean, in you 20's and 30's, whats another attack power with 1 slot going to really help you accomplish? While there ARE execptions (most lvl 32 powers) it's just how it is. I level at a conveniont time, or right a way when i get something really useful, esspecally right out of the box.
  11. I remember they had one last July, it was on the same weekend as my Birthday. (18th) Think they'll have one sometime in July, before GR hits? You know, to help us finish off some of our leveling "projects" so we can have a clean slate to start our new dudes in the shinny new zones? And besides, i can't see them wanting to have a 2xxp weekend for a while after a new launch, giving any new players a rocket pass past your new content is prolly not a good idea.

    Just wondering...

It doesn't work with controller pets, or at least i can't get it too or find it. *shrug* I have MM's, 3 as a matter of fact. i know what your talking about, but, it doesn't work like that with troller pets as far as i can tell.

And i know the stack, (to the other reply) i've got them on my MM's. What the person told me, was that if i slot both resist IO's in the *same* pet only one works. As a controller, gravity and earth, you only get one pet. I have the 2 in pooman. But, have no way of knowing if they are both running... well, i guess i could try and do the math... somehow... i mean, i'd need to have the pet attacked with, and without the effect running... meaning, i'd have to get 40 feet away, and have him take damage... then be near him... but, the pet will follow me...bah.
  13. I asked in the Dom boards, and got a responce, then after talking with people in game... I'm still confused and would like to answers for you pros out there...

I've got 2 pets with these +resist io's in them. A singularity, and an Animated Stone. The singy has one, pooman has both.

Now, when i look at the resist power on them, the numbers don't change. But there are orange tringles. So are they working? I've been told yes, that the power icon i was reading doesn't reflect changes from that IO... is that true? I was also told that only one resist IO will work at a time, so the 2nd one in pooman is a waste?

Any information will be greatly appreacited!
  14. Buff the resists of controller and dom pets? I have one in my hero, who has a singularity, and i see the orange triangle around the pet, but, as far as i can tell, the resists are still the same when i ID it's resists icon. So, is it not working, like the icon says, or is it working, like the graphics say? I'm confused...

Just checked my Earth/Fire dom. and poo mans resists don't seem to change either, per the resists icon, but he has orange triangles too... ?

I never said it was. I noted that some of us have that as a personality trait. The game has little to do with that. In fact, sometimes the less a game is an explorer game, the more I'm tempted to go poke around in the corners.
Fair enough. Maybe it's just my ingame age showing, I think at one point in time i may have been more "excited" about seeing the sights. And i'm sure i'll be eager to "explore" the newer zones coming in GR. But still.. to me, a contact in a zone should have contacts for that zone. It just makes since. Like cops have ares they cover, there jurastiction. Always hit me as both odd and slightly or epicly annoying that the founders fall people were so worried about what was going on in brickstown.. and vice versa.

Mid I6? Try running FF missions Per I1 and having every... single... one of them send you to Brickstown... back when there was no tram in FF so you had fly to Talos tram and connect to bricks.. only to finish the mission, and fly back.. cause you didn't get the phone number till you nearly maxed the bar... only to be sent to bricks AGAIN... and AGAIN... and AGAIN...

This is epic game, let me assure you, but it is not an "explorer" game IMO. I've played many an MMO that i'd consider true "explorer" MMO's. Back in my AC days, (Asherons Call, the original poormans Evercrack) we'd run for hours to get anywhere, big raid teams, running a cave quest in the diers would buff up, and have a marithon run, like 20 guys, booking accros the landscape for 20 mins. it was kind of awsome really... And it was accually pretty fun. (to an extent) Runing east to get to the dierlands, running by caves you'd never seen, jumping in and exploring them, getting mangled by mites in said cave.. losing every worldly possession you own... been sent back in shame to your home viliageto beg for a magic wand so you can do SOMETHING and start rebuilding yourself.... !@#$@#$ evil little mite sons of @#$@!@#~!s .....

    .....

    .....

Ok ok, i'm better now... that was repressed memory coming to the surface...

anyways.. no visiable loading screens, new and shifting horizens and landscapes. It had an epic, you lost in the woods feel to it, and was FUN. SWG, for all it's flaws, was an epic explorer game. Huge planets. Hidden gems. Epic space tavel. Crawling into Rancor nests to try and steal there cubs... faily and running for your life... ah.. good times...

CoH, does not, even with the new shinny ultra mode, live up to THAT. (IMO of course). Now doen't get me wrong, I'm still playing CoH and have played it longer then all my other MMO's combined... it's my FAV game, but it's not an explorer's MMO. All missions are relitively static selfinstenced missions. Each zone may have one zone event, some may have 2 at most.. they are relitively small when comparied with SWG's plantes or AC's world map in general. And... there's really nothing to "discover"...

But, it's just not that style of game. The adventure of a superhero MMO imo doesn't come from exploring the city, but saving it. (IMO of course)

Don't think so. I haven't ran many contact missions hero side unless they are like Hollows or Straga or something that keeps me in the same zone honestly, but, last time i did, a few months back, i ran the freakolimpics i think (always liked that one.) and i was all over the map again. (world map, not zone).

I know some contacts now give there number sooner. Like, the first bar, not the 3rd like they used too. But some will still take like 4 or 5 missions to even get to that.

? Eh? What in the world does reducing unnessessity time padding to missions (IE, unnessesry travel) have to do with breeding more AE babies? You still got to travel within the zone, and like, when you outlevel the zone, move on... you just don't have to run to Kings, grab a mission that's in prez, go to prez, finish, run back to kings and get in in skyway... and wash and repeat until you get the phone number. Then you just have to call and start hoofing it. I'd rather zones work like CoV's or the newer zones for CoH. (straga, croatoa, ect)

How does that, again, breed more AE babies???
  20. 2 simple fixes and story arches wouldn't be annyoing at all, and far superior IMO to paper missions.

    1. Keep the zoning to an absolote minium. Only zone if it makes since to do so. (IE, you need to speak to a contact in a different zone). Outside of that, keep them all in zone.

    2. Give us the phone number right off the bat. Screw this trust thing. I get telemarketer calling me on my cell phone... phone numbers are not usually a big private trust earning deal, and if you trust me enough to put peoples lives in my hands by god you should trust me enough to give me your cell phone number...

You do that, and I'd never touch paper missions again. Frankly, i don't DO paper missions red side at all usually, cause the missions are all pretty much in the same zone, and you get the cell phone eairly. (though, IMO, you should just be giving it at the start like in the RWZ)

But hero side, where the contacts love to send me all over the map for each mission? Screw that. I'll run papers. (or i guess, scanners..) Hope the dev's do the new missions for the new zone more like CoV and a lot less like CoH.

What I mean by that is, are the rewards for accomplishing such feats worth all the time it would take? For example, is there any money to be made from defeating the giant DE monsters? I guess I'm most curious about what kinds of drops you could get (if any), aside from those special inspirations, and in the case of AVs, are the drops considerably better?

If I'm going to take the time to make a toon for this, I guess I want it to be worth the time it takes. I don't want to make it if the only thing I would get out of it is being able to brag about who/what I killed solo. I have characters that can farm very well so I'm thinking I might just be better off playing them if all I'm looking to do is make money, but I know many people here have done this a lot so I was hoping to get some feedback from them on how this works for them.

You get a TON more rewards for soloing a -1 X8 spawns in a mission then you'll EVER get soloing AV's or GM's. It's more about bragging rights, and testing the extream limits of your tricked out builds. That's honestly about it. I've got a few toons that i'd consider are "close" to AV soloers. But, the long fights bore me. And i'd prolly rather just make an alt.. heh.

  24. KingSnake

    frankenslotting?

Building a Hero/Villian is, IMO, the most fun aspect of this game, and IO's made it that much better.

Frankienslotting, or going set bonuses. I do both. Often times in the same builds. (It depends on the powers really.) I frankenslot at 22, and continue to fill in powers with patchwork IO's until around lvl 40ish. Then i'll respec, and add in the sets i think will add the most to my hero, and that i can afford. Power that would require a huge monetary investment are normally just frankenslotted, unless it's one of my "pet" projects. Other powers that would get decent bonsues but aren't super expensive get slotted. (smashing haymakers, thunderstrikes, ect ect.)

What i end up with are very functional charaters, at a reletively cheap price. And I have a hand full of guys, about 4, i'm starting to spend some bigger bucks on, in antipasation of them seeing alot more play time once GR hits. (End game content FTW.)

So... for me... it really boills down too a power by power basis and how much i'm willing to invest. Which, means building one hero can be a tottally different build exparince then aother. Which is prolly why i have so many alts. Heh.
  25. I have ALOT of money invested into my first brute, a Fire/Invlun. And frankly, it's really starting to pay off.

He has... 63% S/L resists, 20% to the rest. With one mob in range, he has 40% S/L defence. 33% E/NE. And like 25% to F/I. He regen is alittle better then twice the base rate, and he's got about 20% HP boost. Not to mention signefient single target damage, esspecally over the long haul. (kind of light on burst damage) And one of the better PBAOE's. And with a mircle prog, a numina prog, and a performace shifter prog, the endurance is pretty managable. Attacks are slanted for recharge, so they are fast. A to hit prog shores up my somewhat underslotted ACC. (about 60% per) I'm pretty much capped, esspecially when invinc starts kicking in.

I've still got work to do. I need to upgrade my Smashing Haymakers to kinetic combats... that'll softcapped S/L. (and it's REALLY expensive too..) I need my last HP accolade. (invader.. need to figure out what i'm missing... god i hate trying to get old MM mission badges...)

Once he's done, he'll be a monster. But it's cost me a TON. But IMO it's worth it.
