  1. I know this is slightly off topic, and I'm guessing many people have already asked this, or someone's going to bash me for my lack of knowledge, but may I asked what this "End game content" that I keep hearing about, means? I'm hoping it doesn't mean the end of CoH itself...

That's what made me bring it up, plus it was on my mind for awhile. Sorry if this is too out of place.
  2. Ok so after much trouble and hassle and anger, I finally got the CoH Test patcher to work after I messed it up, deleted it, and reinstalled it twice. (Thank you CuppaManga for your epic troubleshooting topic)

    BUT WAIT, THERES MORE.

CoH Test patcher is stuck at "Checking Updater" and refuses to do any more.

Has anyone else been having issues with Test lately?
  3. Hello, me again. I've been having a LOT of issues with missions lately... actually, for the past few MONTHS.

Normally this happens in Arachnos bases. I think there was one time it happened outside of Arachnos bases, but other than in my Super Group base while editing it (Which has only happened once or twice... odd...), Arachnos bases are where its at.

Every time I get a mission to go into an Arachnos base now, I feel like its me Vs. the clock. I feel like I only have so much time before CoH just closes out and doesn't even give me a crash report, or any message. (That's right, you heard me. It doesn't even give me a message.)

At first I thought it was only with the Johnny Sonata mission to steal the contract. I had started this mission months ago, then left CoH for awhile. I was having the problem then, and I sent a bug report, but I got on hoping to see it fixed after several months, and BOOM, it happens again.

It's never in the same spot, either. I've had it happen on the first floor of an Arachnos base, second, sometimes no even at all... but thats rarely.

I'm not expecting any answers to this, honestly. I wanted to get this out there because it's one of the many things wrong with the Mac Client that I've noticed, and haven't posted.
  4. Ok I've been having this problem, randomly too.

Occasionally, when I get on my iMac Snow Leopard (Which is fully up to date on software updates), I always randomly get this long streak of "Connecting..." numbers.

I waited awhile, hoping it would connect finally, and I came back to it saying, "Connecting #15"

Is there any fix for this? And am I the only one that this happens to?

(Btw, my signal strength is full)

Ok thanks, I figured that was the problem... Thanks.
  6. I'm running an iMac Snow Leopard, that should be fully up to date.

Now I'm curious if anyone has had the same problem that I do,

When running CoH in windowed mode on the Mac, does anyone experience lag like I do, when you click outside of it to say, get on the internet while playing?

My computer lags like CRAZY, and it takes forever to do anything. However once I get back into CoH, it works perfectly fine.

I've been noticing this for awhile, and I was curious if anyone else has had this problem.

This game desperately needs new hairstyles. Even the CoV stuff is pretty mediocre and dated.
Man, I agree with this 100%. The guys have like, no good hair styles. It's hard to make younger heroes (Kids - Teens) with the hair they give you. There arent any basic, short, messy hair styles to pick from for guys >_<

    @Sojourn_EU

I made a very convincing PPD outfit for my "Lt. Matthew Grave" in one of the servers (Praetorian version of my "Matt Grave" in Virtue)... I'll post a pic in a second. (Via edits)

Edit: Crud, Liberty is down at the moment, thats where I made him. I'll try and post in ASAP.

    Edit2:

Theres still some editing to be made, but its pretty nice for the resources given.

Actually, I was going to say, "I didn't know about this...". Thank you
  9. I've noticed a bug with the filter on (I'm sorry, but I dont care if you people don't care about this, I personally dont like to hear swearing in this game).

Even though I have the filter ON, I still see the words in the bubbles, and personally I dont like to see the F word so often, or any other word. Yet the word in censored in the box where it shows the words. This isnt a very affective filter, if you ask me.

I know, I know, "WELL GROW UP AND START SWEARING!", I don't swear, people, and I never will. I'd just like this bug to be known, and fixed. The point of a FILTER, is to FILTER out the words that people don't want/want their kids to see.

So no, maybe they haven't catered to Mac uses. And no, you don't have to get a PC. You could learn how to code and make it yourself, then generously give it to others as they have.

Suddenly it's not so easy, is it?
I don't wanna' be rude, but I never said it was easy in the first place.

I see... so I take it I'm stuck with my XP's disks... >.< Unless I can magically find the install disks.

Well guys, I guess there really isn't much else to talk about, everything else has led me back to Bootcamp, so I guess I'll try it with my windows XP stuff. Oddly, something happened to the real computer, and it has less RAM than what it's suppose to have. I tried using a Parallels trial to use windows on Mac, and it said 512...

Sorry, I must've missed your comment while I originally wrote this. Yeah, I was thinking it after awhile that it might offend some people, but really the topic name means nothing until you really read the first post. And for those people who do feel like I demanded the programs, noticed how I said "Little", not, "It's extremely unfair!!!".

    Just the way it is.

    -----

Of course, I'm used to this stuff from decades of dealing with shareware, fanfic, and other similar fan made stuff. I don't complain to the fanfic writer that there hasn't been an update to My Favorite Story #13.... because I'm not a writer. He/she is doing it because they like to/want to/feel like it. They have little to no obligation to me to produce free content on my schedule; it's their hobby, not their job.

Or.... hey, Scorched Earth - '90s shareware artillery game - would have been awesome on the Mac, instead of just watching my dorm-mates play it on their PC - but, well, the author was a PC programmer. And there wasn't a Mac programmer who would/could port it. Them's the breaks.

I can't program, so while I can say "Hey, wouldn't it be cool if there were a Mac version of X/Y/Z?", I don't really have the standing to say "Dammit, why don't they get off their butts and make a Mac version of X/Y/X!"

    ...just my $0.02
Lol, I'm not saying for the original creators to make a new version, I was saying that we should, at some point, get an alternative way. Maybe not the same program, maybe it would be, all I was saying is that I'd like some other way than running bootcamp

And I'm sorry if you people are mad at me for asking for this, as I said I'm no programmer. I'm not rushing anyone, I'm not forcing anyone to do anything, all I'm saying is I'd like another way. If you find this rude, or whiney, I'm sorry, but it isn't.
    I'm not:
    Demanding anything
    Forcing anyone to do anything
    Pushing people's buttons
    Whining
    Crying
    Or anything else
I'm just saying what I think should be said. I really just want to put an idea in someone's mind that'll come by and be like, "Hey... maybe I should work on that." (Hey, people can dream, can't they?), and I want to see how many others want these programs for Mac, too.

Oh right, if anyone wants to try and figure out why my sister's disks aren't working, my sister's computer is a Toshiba Satellite A300 series. The disks I'm trying to use are labeled Recovery and Apllications/Drivers (2 disks, both silver with black letters).

I know i know, you heard that already, but seriously your wasting your time complaining.
I have bootcamp, yes, but do I have a vista's CD? No, no I do not. I tried it using my laptops disks, and it was... annoying. I have my sister's disks, but sadly for some reason they do not work with Bootcamp. I put them in and it says that it cannot install, since it's a Mac, and not a vista. I have no idea why it would do such a thing, unless I have the wrong disks, but personally I dont know. The only other option is to get my dad's vista disks, but I'm afraid I can't find them currently, and I don't feel like being interrogated by a lawyer (My dad) about what I want to do with those disks. He's very protective over his computers, if you havent noticed from my first post.

    To Hyperstrike:
Yes, it does "Suck to be" me. I have no knowledge on how to code, period, and would not know how to start. If I knew, believe me, I would. Sadly the only coding I have ever known was Game Maker coding, and I'm 99.5% sure that wont work on anything else but Game Maker.

    By the way:
I'd like to ask why 2 people have brought down my karma, when I'm trying to be as calm and polite as possible on this situation. If I seemed rude, I'm sorry for acting that way. It wasn't right, since you people aren't the one's I should be getting mad at or anything. (No one is to blame, really.)

I read the negative comment someone left (Lowering my karma), and I'd like to point out that I was not whining in my first post, I was simply stating the problem I have.

I dont want to seem rude, so I just want you to know that a head of time before you read this.

    1. I know.
2.Yes, I never said who it was going to be by, I just asked if at some point an alternative could be made.
    3.as I said above.

Before you continue reading, please leave if your comment is going to include these types of things:
-"Mac client hasn't been out for very long, and so no one has been able to make programs for CoH Mac"
    -"Mac fails, buy a PC."
    -"Use bootcamp."
    -"Use VMware fusion."
    -"Use CrossOver."
    -"Use Parallels."
    -"Use WINE."
Please resist from commenting these, I'm aware about all of them, and I don't need to be reminded.

Don't you guys think it's a little unfair that Mac doesn't have the ability to use programs that might help out in CoX? Well, not HELP out, but like we can't use a demo launcher to make things easier, we cant use the character designer, and we can't use many more of those nice programs.

I know, I know, "BUY A PC, MAC FAILS.", or "Mac client hasnt been out for very long..." I've heard it all before, but first, let me explain my situation...

Before I got my Mac, I was surrounded by slow, old PCs, ones with 256 MB of Ram, or less, so they couldn't run CoX (I tried on my HP Windows XP laptop). My only choice was my sister's Toshiba Vista laptop, since she first got me into CoX by hearing about it from friends, and installing it on her computer (I wont go into details). Well, that and my Dad's >WORK< laptop (Off limits, since whenever I download something, and then suddenly something on his computer doesnt work right, he blames the game I installed, when it has nothing to do with it) were the only choices of installation, but as you can guess, that isn't a choice. So when I got my iMac, I was happy since I could play with my sister in CoH at the same time. She'd bring her laptop down into the kitchen (Where the iMac is located), and we'd both get on different accounts. If at any time I needed to use one of the programs I mentioned earlier, I'd use her computer. Well, now, that sister, yeah she went to college, taking her computer with her. I'm left with my iMac, and a bunch of slow computers. I can't install CoX on any of them, in fear of low requirements, or anything else. I really want to use those programs, but sadly I can't, since I need the .net framework, and even WINE can't get Mac to install a windows .net framework. I've tried Mono, and no, it didn't work. Mac Mono, it asked for windows, windows, it gave me an error. I've tried Parallels, nothing. CrossOver, failure. Bootcamp, nope. WINE, not gonna work.

I really find it unfair how it's impossible to use any of those programs on Mac. I'm not asking anyone to make alternative ways (Though it'd be nice), but all I'm saying is that there needs to be some kind of Mac program made that will let you do all that, at SOME point. Not saying soon, not saying now... just, at some point.

Anyone else agree that we should get some alternative way some time/have this problem?
  16. It should be under the fun section, dunno why...
  17. I think that's a really good idea. The rikti seem very under-used lately, and so do the bases, and I'm sure the devs could come up with a great story to go with it.

My only suggestion is that if they did do it, that later in time they'd get different groups to be able to raid your base (e.g. Hellions, Skulls, Council, etc..). Or maybe the more you kill guys from that enemy group, the more of a chance there would be for them to attack, kind of like they're getting revenge.

As I said that would have to be later on, because things have to build up.

    Random crashing?

Has anyone else had random crashing? I've been walking around Grandville on my 41 thug/trick arrow MM, asking if there's anything up, and all the sudden, BAM! I get a crash. I can't copy any of the information, because even the crash report window gets stuck.

This has happened twice. This started happening right after the game got stuck in the Cap AE building. I was going to see if there was anyone there (Out of boredom), and there was maybe one or two people. I was about to leave, as I jumped over the table where you can make missions, right next to the door at the left of the stairs (Right side, if you're going up. Left if you're going down). Suddenly, the game froze. I was unable to do anything, and I waited to see if I lost connection to the map server. Nothing happened. It just was frozen. I force quit CoX (With nothing else to do), and walked away from the computer.

I came back a few minutes later, and got on. I started the CoH patcher, and pressed next and "I agree". After that, I got an error, and didnt send it. I tried it again... the screen went black, as usual... but it didnt go into the log in screen. It stayed black. Once again I force quit, and tried it a third time. This time it worked, and I got on. I was jumping around Grandville, bored, when suddenly BAM! Crash report.

Once AGAIN, I left it alone and came back. This time it took 4 tries to get it working. I finally got in, in Grandville, heading for they ferry. Once again BAM! Crash report.

I didn't check to see if they were the same... but I have no idea what went wrong. I'll try restarting the computer, seeing if that'll help. But for now I'm wondering if Force Quit caused something to be corrupt.

    Any ideas?

EDIT: I restarted my Mac and its working fine. No idea what had happened. I don't know if I can close/delete my own topics, but to someone who can: It can be closed/deleted.

    Mind/Sonic?

Well, as I said, I'd like to keep Super Speed... (Its one of my characters signature powers)
Anyway, I'll see how this all works out.

Btw, trollers still have masteries. I've gone with earth, since I hear it has good defense. So far it hasnt shown much support... but eh

And Earth's embrace is a good self heal, so if I just get the right enhancements for that, I can get a nice quick and effective heal.

Edit: Done. I've finished my respec, thanks for all the information I gathered. I went with TP, SS, almost all the Mind powers (everything but mass confusion), dispersion field, siphon, cage, fitness, fighting, and stone mastery. Thanks guys, hope this works (This was always my more fighty build anyway. XD)
  22. KingCrazy

    Mind/Sonic?

Ok, I put those both together, and I should have enough info for my build.
    (Hi Boxxy )

For my travel power(s), I'd like to keep super speed, but after the cheap "Foe Teleport" today, I'm not sure.

I think I'll still be able to keep both TP and SS, since I'll take out my stealth, and whirlwind, and have 2 extra powers to pick. I could get Foe TP, too, because if I totally take out SS, then what if someone uses foe tp when I'm teleporting... SL + SS might be nice, since SL I could get either another attack, or some defense, and for SS, I could get a faster recharge. Plus, SL and SS are the two fastest travel powers in the game.

    Ideas/suggestions?
  23. KingCrazy

    Mind/Sonic?

Ok, what about the rest of my powers?

And teaming wont help me in killing people by myself... >.< which is what I want (is to kill by myself), because I need the kill badges and stuff.
