Just curious, but what are the dev's priorities? Obviously game breaking bugs would come first, but then what? Post 50 content? New zones or ATs? Game balancing? It seems pretty obvious that it's not stuff to do outside of combat.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thinking of the latest and greatest nerf of course. And then posting a funny "reason" for them.
  2. [ QUOTE ]

Of course you already know I7 includes 40-50 content for CoV, and as with every update more art updates, missions, and quality of life features. The other items in I7 will be revealed when we get the Feature Update.

    [/ QUOTE ]

What about bug fixes with costumes and looping sounds? I'd much prefer these FIRST before adding more content with new bugs. Also, what about the nerfs? We've already heard about the "oops, forgot to put them in the notes" nerf to Invisibility/Stealth/Hide that makes those powers pretty much a lie to be called any of their current titles. How about now calling them Let Me Close My Eyes and Hope No Ones Sees Me Like I Can't See Them, Tip Toe Through Crisp Autumn Leaves, and I Can't Assasinate You But Don't Expect Me To Be Able to Press A On Your Computer Without You Knowing Even With Your Back Turned? As always, much love to u Cuppa, but scorn to some of the people who you work with that just want to give you more work in gauging customer disatisfaction on the boards. :-)

Can a base be raided while the occupants (I can't spell) are locked out?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I wouldn't be surprised there's some bug that WOULD allow this the way bugs and things that need to be fixed are going.
  4. For the love of Villains and Heroes everywhere, please do NOT nerf the mobs! You already nerfed the players too much, when you should have just made the mobs harder to begin with. Don't cater the whiners of "he beat me up!" anymore. If anything, un-nerf us and make the mobs harder.

    Dark Armor drone

    [ QUOTE ]
This was fixed with the latest patch. The droning fades away after 10 seconds.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah. I agree with the also gettin rid of the intensity of the Dark Armor toggles. Turning into a giant black dirt blob totally negates seeing my costume, face, etc. Never mind the purple halo on my head, red halo around my body, and then the other two clouds of black toggles on top of those as well. Gets intensely black for me. A little too much I'd say...
  6. [ QUOTE ]
Ballista is a Toggle Dropping *******!

    [/ QUOTE ][ QUOTE ]

Yeah, he is. He was designed to be as close to a Player Hero as we could make him. How do you guys like the Toggle Drop on him? Is it too nasty or does it add a nice challenge?

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is a GOOD challenge. I think many of us would MUCH prefer the devs making the villains harder as opposed to nerfing the crap out of us to make us weaker. For many of us, we're the Not So Super Heroes these days. If you'd just make the bad guys tougher then I think it would play better with the our psyche knowing that we have to be more cautious around the buy guys because they're badder, not because we're not as Super as we once were. Forget about the whiners who are like "Waahhh, he's too strong and killed me because I was reckless!" and weaken the powers of the bad guys.. Then again, this prefered route probably won't happen because PvE was nerfed because of PvP...
  7. [ QUOTE ]
The reward tables for CoV are the exact same ones as CoH.

The store definitions for CoV are the exact same ones as CoH.

You don't start giving up Inf. for Prestige until level 24.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well yes.. That may be true NOW. The real question is, did you make ANY changes to Influence rewarded in CoH from say I4 to I6 so that it is less? If you did, then it would match CoV, but without stating that you made changes to CoH that would be carried over into CoV you're sort of leaving out a big part of the equation. I do notice less Infamy. Alot actually it seems. Or the prices have gone WAY up or something to that effect with CoV. So truthfully, have the prices gone up with enhancements or has the influence been decreased in CoH that would decrease it in CoV, which would make them "the same", yet we were never told of the change to one that would effect the other and are just being told they are the same for both CoH and CoV but without the added details of being lowered? I really hate having to ask things this way, but I know how sneaky you devs are. "Oops, missed patch notes!" "We never intended..." "That isn't fun... This is fun", etc etc.
  8. I actually kind of like this bug. It's more "fun" as Statesman would say. Sarcasm in the use of "fun", but in all honesty, I like the idea of being chased down and having to make a stand or having someone else knock them off for me.
  9. [ QUOTE ]
My point continues to be: ED and I5 haven't created a ghost town out of City of Heroes.

    [/ QUOTE ]

ED, I4, I3, and all the other nerfs thrown in here and there contributed to it, along with the REALLY bad excuses and lies for their implementation. The devs pissed a lot of people off even more with their poor reasonings more so than the nerfs themselves sometimes. Being told what is "fun" and what isn't "fun" by the devs and ignoring the thousands of responses back that basically said "YOUR version of fun is not MY version of fun" pretty much has created a very untrusting and frustrated paying player base. The worst is when we try to suggest how "fix" things and then you proceed to more or less nerf the crap out certain ATs. One prime example would be Regen. You reduce it's heal powers, say you're happy, then make IH a click power, THEN on top of the reduced #s from the previous nerfS and the clickablity of IH, you throw ED(Everyone Dies) on top of it which further dmged the whole set. Not just Regen, but tankers, etc. Then we hear a excuse when you made IH a click power "Now you won't run out of stamina!".... I rarely ran out of stamina... I chose where to put my Reduce Endurance Costs wisely and didn't 5 slot dmg and 1 ACC in my powers yet I along with many other get nerfed and punished for others who want to be uber and not use their head and think that maaaayyybe Reduce Endurance Cost actually does what it says and would reduce their endurance drain.... You ignore the thousands of outcries against the nerfs, yet you choose to pull the excuses for nerfs from a few toons with bad power/enhancement management skills.. Come on, we're smarter than that and should be given a lot more respect then some lame excuse for your reasonings for making us less fun(in MANY of our opinions) to play. Enhancement Diversity?? Please.. Everyone Dies...
  10. Yeah. Had the same thing happen to me in Beta. I forget what kind of villain exactly, but they followed me till the end of the globe until I actually said screw it and had to kill them for trying to be my new best friend or something.
  11. O yes. Mr Ugly is gonna get dowwwwwnn!!!
  12. Artic, please tell me that we'll be using the toons we've worked on since Beta opened and NOT the "go make a new toon and goto..." scenario like yesterday's Bloody Bay event.
Also, what zone will this be taking place in?

You'll have your chance - I'll be playing the one and only Statesman!

Can we have a temp power called "Nerf Bat" to use against you to knock you down from 54 so we can pummel u for good nerf stress release?
  14. [ QUOTE ]
There have been a lot of posts about which Defense powers stack with other Defense powers; some of this has been accurate, but some of it hasn’t.

Seemingly, we lost sight of a basic principle of Design: players shouldn’t make uninformed choices. Namely, some buffs had no effect on a player if he had certain Defense powers active.

Intuitively, a buff such as a Force Field should provide protection to a player – whether he is a Super Reflexes Scrapper, an Ice Tanker or an Invulnerability Scrapper/Tanker.

As a result, we went through ALL of the Defense buffs in the game and ensured that they provide a benefit to players, regardless of build.

This means that every Defense buff WILL stack to some degree with a player’s defenses, regardless of his power set.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Seems like you guys have lost sight of a lot more than just design principles. You lost site of as what the players REALLY consider fun and what you try to tell them is fun or isn't fun from them. Doesn't matter if you getthousands of threads, and tens of thousands of post when people are like "WTH are u doing?!" Jack, I used to think you guys knew what you were doing and were taking the game in the right direction. This was from release until about I3. Then me and many(check the posts) others lost that faith. Nerfing everything for PvP whether you admit to it or not, has essentially changed the fun level we the players/subscribers/people who pay your salary have. We go and tell your we're having less fun, yet you tell us we're having more fun. What part of "NO WE'RE NOT" don't you get? If you'd just rollback some of the poorly thought out nerfs and stopped making people angrier so they leave in droves(see my SG members last time on for this proof) and concrentrated more on content than math formulas, you'd gain people back who left and gain new users because we'd actually start recommending CoH to people again. Stop the nonsense already... For the sake of the game and your own jobs!

Hahaha. I guess it's sorta like the old Cheerios commercials with Mikey. "If Mikey likes it, IT'S GOTTA BE GOOD" I hated Cheerios no matter how many times they made that poor kid drink fatty milk with those nasty circles in it. BLAH!

Rice Krispies with bananna chunks in it are much better. Of course, making your younger brother and sister "eat things" just for kicks can be fun to. I ever tell you about the time I helped make tacos for the whole family by adding Bubbles liquid to the meat before it was put in the tacos when no one was looking?

Once again, proof that empirical data collected through in game testing and concise, polite posts are the best way to bring these things to a devs attention.

    Good job.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Polite posts, common sense, and thousands of emails have got us no where. The "only if Statesman says you're having fun or not having fun" way seems to prevail. Which is like having someone tell me I REALLY like eating spicy food no matter how much I'm crying, spitting it out, and simply saying "I do not like Spicey food!" Of course none of this could possibly mean I REALLY DO NOT LIKE spicey food.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Nobody likes boring food. If your eyes are watering, its burning your tongue, and you're ejecting it from your mouth at high speed, that just means you're having a more active eating experience. You get the same amount of calories, but at a significantly higher entertainment level.

    [/ QUOTE ]

True, however I'm not an masochistic exhibitionist who wants to increase the entertainment levels of other through inflicting self pain no matter how much they enjoy watching or saying it "hurts so good" to me.

Erm. No. PvP will be an optional part of gameplay. Always.

The changes in I5 had very little to do with PvP and a lot to do with boring PvE. It's that simple. No conspiracy there - I think I've stated this several times.

As for the supposed "emphasis" on PvP - I think you'll see that it's just ONE part of City of Villains. It has PvE content levels 1 to 50.

We'll continue to add new PvE content (which I5 did exclusively, I might add) in the future.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Pssst.. PvE will always get boring without new content. As for all this not being done for PvP, come on... Examples: MoG, IH, Phase Shift, Quantum Flight, etc etc. These are things players complained about when I4 was up on test and people were gettin creamed because of perma MoG, phase shifting into protection, etc. These changes were for PvP. Given the fact that very few of us seem to play in the Arena (going in and not seeing anyone there or playing kinda back this up), these changes should not have taken place. If you want to make PvE more interesting, make the mobs more interesting. Make their AI more interesting. Make them stronger, etc. That's the challenge. Making us weaker and gimping the toons we loved to play and played so long does not make things more challenging in a "Oh yay, now I'm weaker, so things will be harder!" kinda way. Using excuses like "We made IH a click so now you won't have such a hard time not having endurance" is like saying "We're going to go to war so we can find WMD that are not there". Baseless...
  22. Some Devs like to say something is sugar coated, when it's really nothing but Equal on it. For example, making Regen Scrapper's IH a click power instead of a toggle and saying "this will save a lot of the endurance issues regens have with running IH as a toggle". In reality, I never had an end issue with IH running. So this nerf to Ice Tanks doesn't surprise me. Fight the powers that be Ice people, cause next they'll start making you melt or something and their excuse will be it's global warming.

I recall when in April of last year I first discovered CoH, and appreciated the simplicity, fun and addiction of it. Now it's developed into a nightmare where the voices of the masses remain unheard unless they are singing praises to something that was once great.

    - Captain Amazing

    [/ QUOTE ]

Quoted for Truth. This is exactly how I feel. I LOVED how the game was a year ago. It was a game that I actively told my friends to play.

Now, I'm telling them to save their money.

    What does that say? Really?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Same feeling here. I used to send friends the "free trials" when they first had them because I thought they would like the game. Then I started to send them so I'd have more friends to play the game with because others left because of the nerfs and dev arrogance. I no longer send them to anyone, people at work don't hear me talk much about the game anymore, and I'm FAR from playing it as much as I used to. It's sad. It was a great game until egos got to some people and thought they were some kinda all knowing being who ignored what everyone said because of a blind vision in their own head.

My Regen Scrapper feels like he's out of range of his Mentor... all the time. After some testing, I still haven't figured out if there's a way to respec him that won't destroy the feel of the character; I'm afraid that I'm going to have to turn him into Clickmaster to be able to keep playing him at all, and that breaks the character concept I built him to. But every Regen Scrapper took Tough, Weave, perma-Dull Pain, and Reconstruction, so Instant Healing had to be nerfed into the ground, because after 18 months of play, you just then noticed that some people were slotting it so they could run it all the time?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Actually, my MA/Regen NEVER took Tough/Weave. I didn't want to b like so many others who had to make some uber build. I liked being able to make a toon I liked to play. Now however.. I may respec into Tough and weave because IH as a clickie completely destroys what Regen was all about. Regening. I call it Degen now. I don't want to continuously die when IH drops and hang out for 8 minutes and say to my team "Sorry, I can't help u, I need to wait for my timer to go off to regen again. Gimme 8 minutes.." This isn't fun for me. Not fun for my team.. And killed the toon I have loved to play since pre-release. I'm tired of being told "this is the way to have fun.." and "This isn't fun for me, so it must be fun for you, so let me screw it all of for you as long as it's fun for me..." I'm tired of the most bogus BS excuses that completely try to make the players have no idea what they're talking about. Enough nonsense already!
