    That doesn't invalidate the thread though...there's some problems with having a fluctuating HoF, and I don't particularly like that. Although, if it's hovering at HoF status, by tomorrow it should be pretty solid one way or another.

    The closest I could think of would be to have a boss that spawns an ambush of masterminds from every damage bar. And of course make that boss a minion, so he is very easy to one shot (thus triggering all the ambushes at once). But that is more abusive then sadistic...

    Also, outright lying to the player is fun. Tell them they will be fighting Freaks in an outdoor map, but then give them Malta and KoA inside of Oranbega.

    The Nav bar is for wimps. Make all your objectives read "?". Let the player figure out what "9 ?" means.
  3. I've been collecting ways to trick and aggrevate the casual Arc runner. No reason in particular, but here are some fun ways to invoke a RAGE QUIT!!!!1:

    ***Warning: Do not try these at home. They may result in angry tells or possibly death.***

    1.) Large outdoor map with incredibly tough opponents. The nav bar reads, "Defeat all!". Somewhere on the map is a glowy named "Defeat all!".

    2.) Cargo Ship map. The nav bar says "101 Desks to Search". Inform the player that *1* of these desks will end the mission. Set the interact timer on each desk to 60 seconds. At the very back of the ship, have a single enemy named "Desks to Search".

    3.) Once again, very large outdoor map. Place high importance on not failing the mission. Then place Synapse as a required Boss that runs at full health. The chances of finding Synapse and stopping him are slim to none.

    4.) Place a Contaminated as a captive. This forces the mission to level 1. Then put in a custom AV with lots of KB.

    5.) Plant Control/Devices. Thorntrops + Caltrops. Go ahead, give it to your minions, Lts, and Bosses for extra flavor. For fun, try two powersets that both have confuse, or two powersets that both have total focus!

    6.) Use the 5 minute timer on just about any map.

    Any other ideas? If there was a badge for lowest rated arc, some of these would get it!
  4. Couldn't you create a boss fight with one AV (create a group with just him in it), and then have the surrounding enemy group be one with just the rest of the AVs in it.

    The surrounding group will be random, and may contain duplicates, but I think it's the best you'll get.

  6. I published an arc the other day, and have been tweaking it. I've added extra enemies to the mission, etc.

    I just took a look at the .storyarc file, and it seems to be from when I first published. It does not contain the new characters or any of the modifications I've made to the text.

    When editing an arc and republishing, are changes not saved locally? Is there anything special I need to do to update that file?

  7. Do you have any carriage returns (enters) in your character bios? This has been known to cause invalid HTML when it trys to switch out the carriage return with a <br>.

  10. I never re-published it, but I had an arc on test called "Tale of 100 Synapses"...it involved saving 50 Synapses to help you defeat 50 other Synapses.

    After about 30, watching them SS up stairs was just like watching Salmon swim up waterfalls.

    Useless sorts are a UI pet peeve of mine.

    The Poison Gas Trap has been nerfed (it no longer procs holds repeatedly, only once per mob that enters the area of effect) but it still does a good job with locking down spawns.

    Acid Mortar executes a -DEF debuff and DoT AoE attack 10 times per deploy.

    Seeker Drones can be used to pull spawns without taking your minions out of Bodyguard Mode (mobs see seekers and they start shooting/attacking, minions see this as an attack against the whole troupe and launch a counterbarrage). Plus they proc an AoE stun when they detonate.

    Web Grenade can be used to immob flyers, or just lock something down inside a burn patch from Assault Bot's incendiary missile swarm.

    Trip Mine is good for chokepoints, in conjunction with PGT.

    And when all else fails, Detonation provides a handy nuke (at the cost of a minion.)

    Also, Protector Bots will continually bubble you, your bots, your toys (such as seekers or mortars, or triage beacons) and any NPC allies you pick up. This helps with incoming attacks.

    Dame Demo is my only fully-IO'd character, and it's VERY rare that I have to 'tank' anything, most of Traps actually allows one to play as a weak Controller while the robots provide blaster-level artillery.

    My bots/traps also does pretty well. I think Acid Mortar is single target though, isn't it?
  14. Is it just one Story, or is it any story you create having this issue?

    See if you can create a minimal story and publish it...that should indicate that it's not your system, it's the story.

    Alternatively, you could try sending your story files to someone else, and see if they can publish the story...this will indicate that it's the system, not the story.

    I know this isn't really a solution, but it could help narrow down the problem.

    Sorry, I misunderstood your argument! Three slots are a little meager, especially when most of our playerbase is overflowing with creativity.

    I still stand by 1% DC and 1% HoF, but I do agree that there should be other ways to gain more slots. I just don't want to take away from what it means to be a HoF arc. To me, the free slot is a secondary bonus to getting HoF. It wouldn't be my primary reason for trying to get that honor.

    I would definitely start with any field named Description, though!
  18. I'd like the Devs to give it a month. Then find the rating average between 0.0-5.0 that would award HoF to 1% of the arcs out there.

    If the threshold of 4.5 already allows 1% or more, then keep it there. If they need to lower it to a rating of 4.38, then do it.

    I think the ratio of 1% DC, 1% HoF is perfect.

    Do any of the fields start with a space or carriage return? Other hidden characters may exist if you pasted text into the field. Make sure to check any custom characters too.

    Where's the remaining 1% of people fit? I'd wager that will be your HoF arcs. Give it time...mathematically unfeasible is such a strong word.

  21. I would like a feature to view my MA arcs status and feedback out of game. I needs to know! Let me monitor it like the freaking stock market. Give me a chart, so I can watch my star-average start to rise, and then plummet sharply. Send me email alerts whenever someone gives feedback so I can make faces while at work. And then that chipper guy from Sales can look at me and go, "What's the matter, buddy? Didn't get your coffee this morning?". Yeah, he'll get his soon enough once I get home and fire up the MA....
