  1. I'm scheduling another attempt this Sunday, October 24th, at 6pm EST.

    1. Tetujin, Rad/Rad Defender (@Justaris)
    2. Accelerator Ray, Kin/Rad Defender (@AcceleratorRay)
    3. Tsuin Hyouchuu, Ice/DB Tanker (@Genesis Man)
    4. Tanker/Brute
    5. Kay Parfait, Ice/Emp Controller (@KayParfait)
    6. Blaster/Corruptor
    7. Jakara, Ninja Blade/Super Reflexes Stalker (@Jakara)
    8. Fire/Emp Controller (@Anduil)
  2. I wouldn't list MoSTF as the hardest. But yeah, I'd be up to help out with that, just schedule the runs and let me know what you need.
  3. Run canceled due to lack of interest.

Rescheduled for Sunday. See new thread for details.

    Badging question

In DA? Are you sure you weren't killing Death Shamans? Those are Banished Pantheon.

They aren't Circle of Thorns at all. I'd hunt somewhere else - Dark Astoria is predominantly Banished Pantheon.

I'd try the southern part of The Hollows.
  5. As you said, it's not in the middle of battle, so I don't think it'll be an issue. Just an annoyance. I'd like to have a second Tanker or Brute just to help handle the final room, but we'll see what we end up with.

Well we're looking in better shape as of today, with only two spots we may need to fill on the fly. See everyone tonight, and good luck to us.
  7. If you're available tomororw, we could use the help.
  8. Though it's not optimal, we may need to recruit pickups tomorrow given the low level of interest thus far in the thread. That may have something to do with the Halloween event launching on the following day. We'll see what happens.
  9. OP has been edited with an updated roster.

    Badge Team

I've also already got this badge on my badge guy, so I have options as well. I have the following available redside:
    • Rad/Rad Defender
    • Stone/Mace Tanker
    • Ice/DB Tanker
    • Cold/Dark Defender (level 46 - all others are 50)

A 20% chance when? I don't understand how Stamina, where I'm planning to put it, has "chances". Also, lower level is better, right, since they're exactly the same except for exemplaring?
It's a proc. When slotted in a passive power like Stamina, the chance will roll every 10 seconds.

I don't understand this. Do I click it or something to make this happen? There's a similar issue with Regenerative Tissue: Regeneration. I was planning to put these into True Grit.
That's a good idea. The 120sec IOs will renew every ten seconds, in a similar manner to the way the proc works (except that rather than being a % chance, it will always fire). If you were to slot these in a click power, it would last for 120 seconds before needing to be renewed by another application of the power. If you were to slot these in a toggle power, it would be renewed every ten seconds while the toggle was active. In passives it's always on so long as you have access the power itself (if you exemplar below the passive power the IO is in, the effect goes away).
  12. I'd like to schedule a team to give this a try. I've been a part of several attempts lately and I think planning ahead is probably the best way to get the mix of ATs that are most likely to result in success.

I'd like to do this at 8pm EST on Wednesday, October 20th. All participants should be level 50.

    1. Tetujin, Rad/Rad Defender (@Justaris)
    2. Accelerator Ray, Kin/Rad Defender (@AcceleratorRay)
    3. Tsuin, Ice/DB Tanker (@Genesis Man)
    4. Tanker/Brute
    5. Kay Parfait, Ice/Emp Controller (@KayParfait)
    6. Blaster/Corruptor
    7. Jakara, Ninja Blade/Super Reflexes Stalker (@Jakara)
    8. Fire/Emp Controller (@Anduil)
  13. Well, everyone that came out was a good sport - we tried it three times and got as far as the fourth mission on the third try before we failed. Ironically, each death was a Tanker or Brute.
At that point we elected to give it up and try again another time.

To that end, I'm scheduling another attempt for Wednesday, October 20th at 8pm EST.

    New thread here.

This looks like the final lineup for this afternoon's run. My only worry is that without a controller or dominator to get that particular temp power, our corruptors won't be able to really leverage their temps. If anyone wants to volunteer to switch to a dominator, controller, scrapper or stalker, that would be helpful as a way to assist in taking down the ambushes.

That said, I think with multiple Tankers this should be doable even without those measures - it'd just be easier. Good luck to us all.

B Samson, if you have no preference, I'd request that you play your Tanker to give us three Tankers. Between Accelator Ray and myself we should have the Defender/MM role covered to prevent Reichsman from phasing. I'd rather have the additional aggro management (unless of course your MM is a tankermind build, I'll leave it up to you).
  15. Good to know. I'm of course more familiar with the use of underscores in binds and I just assumed they'd work the same way across the board. Obviously, I was mistaken in that assumption. Thanks for the correction.
  16. That's incorrect , actually. The game does not read underscores and spaces the same. In fact, the game doesn't read underscores at all. So, this

    /bind KEY "powexecname Quick_Strike"
    is equivalent to this:
    /bind KEY "powexecname QuickStrike"
and is NOT equivalent to this:
    /bind KEY "powexecname Quick Strike"

It's the last one that the OP needs to use. Use the space. Do not use underscores. The main value of underscores in binding is to make long bind commands easier for you to see
(e.g. pow_exec_name is the same as powexecname)

    You also need three teams.

I should be able to make that time though, so sign me up. I can bring a rad def, PB or tanker, whatever we need more.
  18. I've already commiitted to something else later in the day, but you'll be missed, Kay. Best of luck in the contest.
  19. I've delayed the run by one hour, to better accomodate both Infy and Samson.

    OP has been edited.
  20. If the intent is to try to maintain flexibility with dual builds, I would say no. There's a fifteen minute cooldown between build changes, so you can't really swap it out on the fly in a way that I would term flexible.

I find that dual builds are better used to have radically different builds on the same character (such as tri-form and human-only) rather than trying to effectively 'split' a tri-form character over two builds.

I'm planning on running a Barrauda attempt this Sunday, but I'm available to help with a Master LRSF attempt if one gets going (so long as it doesn't conflict, of course).
I'm also available to help with the cathedral if necessary.

    4. Defender/MM - Accelerator Ray, Kin/Rad Defender (@Accelerator Ray)

  23. I'm just not sure what it is you're asking for when you you want to be "more like a superhero'. Maybe that's because I already feel like one and have enjoyed this game without interruption since its release. To address the specifics you did bring up:

Fly being slow. First off, Fly has been sped up a couple of times, but for the sake of argument we'll deal with the fact that Flight at cap speed is still slower than other alternatives. There are two main reasons for this commonly given.

The first is that Fly's relative slowness is really its only drawback. It has full 360 motion and allows you to park whereever you like in that space (unlike TP or SJ). If Fly were as fast/faster than the other alternatives, it would fast become the only choice (i.e. other travels would be viewed as "gimp" by comparision.

The second reason often given is that flying at very fast speeds can be very graphically demanding as the game is having to render things all around you very quickly. While it seems likely that with the advent of Ultra Mode some of the technical limitation are falling away, there is probably still a point at which making Fly faster just isn't feasible.

Death Knight / comparison to WoW. Obviously, this isn't WoW, and comparisons between the two games don't really completely hold up, nor is it necessarily a good idea to make this game more like WoW. Starting someone most of the way through the leveling cycle makes sense in a game that revolves around an ever-increasing level cap and end-game level raids. If the game starts at the cap, getting to the cap faster makes sense as an epic reward.

That just isn't the case here, and skipping the early game in this paradigm would be a disaster for a number of reasons - not least of which being depopulation of the lower-level areas. In a game that's already heavily instanced, giving the false apperence of emptiness at times, this is not a good move.

Furthermore, since this game has always been designed primarily around alts and replay rather than around endgame, rushing just doesn't make all that much sense.

As for travel powers at 14, that's been addressed in a variety of ways and for most people is probably a non issue now. Level 5+ characters can get rocket packs from Safeguard/Mayhem missions. Players of any level can buy jetpacks from vendors in the Shard and in Grandville. There are jetpacks granted by dayjobs. There are jetpacks craftable with Inventions. There are holiday jetpacks. There are epic ATs (PBs and WSs) who start the game with travel at level 1. We've got a lot of travel goin' on.

I'm not trying to be confrontational here; I'd much rather have a conversation about this as I'm interested in just what it is you want in order to 'feel super' or how precisely you feel the game needs to evolve. What I've seen thus far in GR suggests we're already doing some significant evolution, but pehraps it's not the direction you would wish.

The trouble with this, of course, is that at the end of the day this is a game. While, as noted above, we do have powerful and versatile characters compared to many MMOs out there, there's only so far that can go. In many cases, when players say "I wanna feel super' what they mean is "I want to be ridiculously overpowered", and game developers cannot allow that. A game that you cannot lose quickly becomes a pointless game and a boring one.

Now, I do recognize that many players of this game are fans of comic books and the superhero mythos in general and they want to feel closer to that when they play their characters. I get that, I'm not saying that everyone with this complaint is looking to be grossly overpowered - but I do think that people need to consider that this an MMO and not a single-player comic book simulator, and to take into account what that really means.

    Best server??

I've also found Triumph and Victory servers to be very active in terms of events being run, so I'd recommend those for consideration.

Ultimately, Aett's advice is best. Test the waters, look into the global channels, and try and find a good fit for yourself.
