Thanks everyone, I'm so relieved I didn't have to go into Sudden Death with Juggy, that would've been brutal.

We should of had to duel in CoH or someting.
Either way, grats to all who entered and have kept with it.
I'm looking forward to July. -
voting is almost over - get your vots in.
All are welcome to vote. -
Oh, and I posted a min-rant about this awhile back.

I've been burned before by commissioners... but not that often (about once a year). I now make sure that they get nothing 'usable' until I am paid - it'll either be a sketch, watermarked, or a thumbnail.
To the OP, this is from april 08? That's past a year and way past my cut-off line. I'd personally name and shame... but that's just me.
Good luck with it. -

Granted while Juggys piece was beautiful, cute, and somewhat original; the reason I did not vote for him was because the actual Movie Poster (the focus of the piece and what we are voting for) was recognizably the City of Heroes logo and little else. The piece is truly amazing and original; it just didnt fit the bill in my opinion. If his piece was unacceptable, then it should have been called out by the event moderator; there were 10 days between Juggys submission and the due date.

Fair enough. It's pretty clear to anyone looking at my piece that the details of the poster are not the focus, but rather the mood implied through the kid standing in awe of it. If it was a violation of the rules, so be it. It wasn't meant to be... but motive is hard to discern on the 'net.
Thanks for posting up that quote about the logo, I had read it, but forgot it. -

I'm sorry, I never intended to instigate drama by ignoring the rules and as I said before I have no problem with being disqualified. For what's it worth I agree that rules should be followed and that the use of screen shots tend to 'cheapen' the image, which is why all those images ends up in my 'scraps' section on dA.

Shoot, now I'm not even so sure they're talking about you - perhaps it's me now?
Just so we're all clear, here were the rules for last month.

June Challenge: 'Movie Poster'
Overview: For this month i want you to imagine City of Heroes/Villains is being made into a movie. Take any of the COX signature characters (NOT forum characters this month) or any of the many NPC's from both games and make up a movie poster. Generally with a movie poster you want to get the viewer excited about the movie just by seeing the poster so this will be the challenge for you guys. Comical, serious, Horror, drama, whatever you decide to entice the voters and viewer to really want to see this movie. Show us why you are the top ten in the contest!
Rules: [u]This a call for ORIGINAL art of a movie poster made for a COX themed movie. This means no recreations, homages to or any variation of popular poster will be accepted.[u]
There will be another single elimination for this month!!
There will be only one entry allowed per person, and it is due no later than June 24th at midnight PST. Voting will be held the following week. If there is no entry submitted or it is late, you automatically forfeit and lose your spot on the rankings board.
Some notes:
<ul type="square">[*]The winner of June's challenge will carry immunity for next month provided they submit a piece for June.
<ul type="square">[*]Projectionist carries immunity this month provided he submits a piece. As he was the winner from May
Please keep all your discussion and posting of pieces to this thread. The voting WILL BE ON ANOTHER THREAD.
Good luck guys,

Oh ho! Someone else is bidding on the hosting rights for next art season!

I created it last year, passed the gauntlet to TA this year, and I think it'd be cool if someone else stepped up next year as well. -
My thoughts... and I have only one, basically.
1. This is supposed to be for fun. If the rules are too harsh, it won't be much fun. If I follow the rules and someone doesn't, it won't be much fun. If people start fighting over something, it won't be much fun.
My advice, lay down the rules at the start of each month and people should follow them. If they don't want to follow them, they shouldn't be in the contest.
Your contest this year, your rules.
But above all, keep it fun. -
My vote goes to Lousy_Day - I dig those textures.

I personally don't think that there needs to be black inked lines to make a comic book. I think that is a holdover from printing in a bygone age.
if someone wants to digitally paint their entire work - or vector it, that's totally up to them - and it could be equally as good.
I'm weak in inking, I know that. For now I'm staying away from it - if someone thinks less of my art because of that, so be it.
I don't. -
My stages are simple
BLUE - for the pose. Once the client signs off on that, there's no changing.
Everything beyond that is easy for me to change. Want the shirt color changed? No problem? Want the shading lighter? Easy.
It's all in how you layer. -
When I was a kid, a buddy and I created out our comicbook universe... with Handbooks and all. Looking through some of them the other day I came across a character that I really dug.
Here here is as as I drew him so many years ago.
And here hs is now.
(and for those of you who know me, you'll know that my writing hasn't improved much since those early days. lol) -
Aye, look at my siggy and that might give you some ideas.
