Ya, sadly, this wasn't an issue from what I was seeing here for the last week, until it warranted an apparent response after CR (and apparently only CR) commented on this like a couple days ago. Even then, why it got responded to now like a week after the original work was posted and a few days after CR's comment is still puzzling me...

It was frustrating enough to submit an unfinished work, let alone one that was meant to be taken lightheartedly (which it seemed to be taken as such) until now, get blown out of proportion and cause heartburn between myself and someone I chat with and played with almost every TF Friday for the last few months. *sigh*

Maybe I'm taking that the wrong way, but that's how it seems to me.
CLEARLY taken the wrong way. At this point, I will continue to do these event challenges as a personal motivation to do some fun and different artwork (which was always my original intent), but more then likely I will be out of the contest as this is just becoming more trouble then it is worth.

I wasn't going to comment on who those hard to see boots were here, but since this is an issue all of the sudden...

Exactly Bayani, hence why I did ask you as I knew you were sensitive to your character being used for fanart and it is why I respected that and your character was NOT used. A pair of boots which were near impossible to see did not constitute your character. Could it be misconstrued as your character...maybe (and I would maybe joke as much as it is with you on Vent or in-game), however that argument is flimsy as that would be the equivalent of every off-screen part of a red cape would imply Superm@n EVERYTIME which clearly that wouldn't be the case as Statesman wears a red cape as well as countless other super heroes in CoX. I'm sorry if this reference to boots with a sketchy flame pattern instantly summarized your character. No reference to body, powers, your trademark star/sun symbol, face, glasses...hmmm, ya pretty much not you if it came down to real true likeness. So what is the problem again?

*This is so over-the-top ridiculous, that in my final version I will remove the "flame" pattern off the boots. It amazes me how a "for fun" event like this keeps getting me or others dragged through such drama.*

(moral of the story: don't ever decide at the last minute that "No, THIS idea is MUCH better than that one I've been working on!"
Another moral, getting a blister on your hand when drawing for hours should really be a reminder to buy smaller bandaids...
  6. I don't know what I was thinking...when I started to feel better I was like no problem, I still have a week out. I thought the deadline was next Friday...since usually these things fall closer to the end of the month. Thank God VexXxa mentioned this like on Thursday!
  7. OMG...I wrote this really cool intro and the forums ate it...seems appropriate that even my intro is not quite done either.

Anyways, here is my piece for the vice "wrath". I thought I would do a piece to schmooze the art whores for a commission, then on second thought drawing my toon beatin' the heck out of them was personally more fullfilling

    Title: Decommissioned

(Artist Note: I will probably revisit this piece since being sick 2 weeks up to the deadline made this a real challenge - 2 long nights and lots of coffee got me this far, so I am cool with that.)

  8. Combo "bump" and rant!

WTF!...ARGH....so Dick Blick art store shutdown after years of being here and basically merged all their stuff into a mega DB store about 45 minutes away in another city. I didn't really care when that happened last year (lols), but I just now realized none of the other art stores in town carry the art pens I use! BOO!

After 2 hours driving around town hitting all the other art stores, I realize I should've just checked online. *I blame using cold medicine for the last 2 weeks on not thinking of this sooner*

Anyways, I got my pens on order but my FArt this month may be slackin' on the final touches. Meh...
  9. I wish that were true Caemgen...but I am no cat.

I am still fightin' this junk off, but I am finally clear-headed enough to post after about 2 weeks (well, I guess that could be argued though lols).

Anyways, thanks for the Get Well all! ...I am workin' on it.

And thanks for thinkin' of me Vex
  10. I have been messing with this for abit now.

I have everything set the way I did pre-i17. That's max everything with FSAA set to x4 and Anistropic (sp) set to x4, world and character detail to 200%, all other stuff enabled (except I had depth of field turned off as it makes everything appear out of focus to me).

However, with UM (which I personally despise a feature promoting higher quality, but in reality creates more blur, darker over-all imagery that makes my eyes feel like everything is painfully out of focus) I had to turn water effects to "none" and shadows to "disabled" - both seem to add "flickering" to my game screen. I also turned off all other UM settings because like I mentioned it hurts my eyes. I am not found of being forced to constantly move through what looks like a Gaussian Blue filter from Photoshop. The depth of field setting was bad, and Occlusion is like bringing the fuzziness closer lols. Shadow Maps all the way Max'd were kinda cool, but it seemed to be inconsistent which was distracting and the drop in framerate was nuts.
  11. I totally missed this when it happened last Monday as I was coming down with a really nasty cold bug...

Frank Frazetta was an amazing talent. He may have been the most talented painter of the 20 century. His control of composition and color combined with his legendary speed at which he produced his works is an inspiration as well as freakishly intimidating to all visual artists. Arguably my favorite artist in all my artistic studies and the artworld has suffered a tremendous loss.
  12. Slowly getting over this lame cold, but I should be there again too!

I am thinking some old-school '70s Japanese robot action! (but I don't think I can limit myself to just silver hehe)
  13. Nice vids...happy friday too all!

(I've been sick all week, so I don't really have anything fun to show this time around.)
  14. OK (just got off the phone with Vex), so for sure Mendor Silos TF then Friday.

Afterwards, then AVs or w/e TF that is within the 42 range. Mendor is timed at 1:30 I believe, so we should be able to do another one easily. The patch notes today said Kahn and Lady Gray should be fixed now too.
  15. VexXxa isn't able to get online atm, but asked me to check on this.

Is this TF going to work for everyone?...Bayani, is the level requirement going to cause any probs?

An alternate suggestion was running the Maria Jenkins Arc for the AVs or a Numina if Mender was too high.
  16. Happy Friday!

    Everybody cut footloose...

  17. AARGH!...

    Happy Belated Birthday Deebs!
  18. Cool - I'll try to make it, but I will probably miss this one as there is a local art event here on the first Friday of every month that I need to be going to and have missed over the winter time. If you all are going to do something else afterward, I hope to be back in time for that...
  19. In regards to claiming "safe mode" is a work around for turning off UM. It ultimately isn't. By that I mean, if you enter the game in Safe Mode in hopes of once being in Safe Mode you will be able to bump your graphics back up using the "Advance Settings" only, then as soon as you make adjustments in the "Advance Settings" the client recognizes you had once accepted UM and therefore it activates the "Ultra Mode" panel/settings again. Even though you technically were only sliding the "Advance Setting" sliders, it moves the UM sliders as well. Items like "Shadows" are directly linked apparently now to UM. If you try and only boost your shadow settings in the "Advance Settings" panel, you will also see the slider for the shadow settings move in the "Ultra Mode" panel. This is my fundamental complaint with UM as it seems to not really be optional imo. I mean, if it was you should in theory be able to disable it and still use the old "Advance Settings." Now items like the "Shadows" I have to disable all together because even the "Stencil" setting activates UM. I notice anomalies like structures or effects like smoke (from smoke stacks) flicker as I approach them from a distance with any shadow settings enabled since UM came out with the live version of i17. The pre-i17
Shader Quality settings set to "High" never caused this type of flickering. I am fortunate enough to be able to run UM on max settings, but occlusion makes things look fuzzy/blurry/dark-dingy to me and the shader setting max (while it doesn't tend to flicker max'd out) it does seem to seriously lower my frame rate which is even worse to me then the flickering. So my current work around is to run with all the advance settings max'd, no shadows, and all of the other UM settings off/disabled.

As for rolling back to avoid using UM altogether, is there a way of doing that just within the CoX client itself?

OK, where is the troll spray now? lols. This is a classic below the belt jab that I find troll worthy. I would rather get flamed for someone telling me my art looks like a piece of TP after I wiped my *ss then accused of being a liar essentially (regardless of the jokingly manner) - you can dis' my art as much as you like, but attacks of character are schmarmy. I honestly wasn't watching the vote that closely...REALLY...I had immunity so why would I CR? You got mad skills at subtle personal jabs, have you considered trying out PvP and taking these skills on the road?
  21. Had a fun time - thanks to all that could make it! And a special thanks to those that stuck around and who joined us for the ITF too!

  22. I wasn't watching the votes all that close this time around, so this is a surprise. Thanks to all that participated and voted...this was an interesting month for sure.

CR, yes I know the global @The Shaper. He used to be a guy that PvP'd a lot on Infinity and Freedom and was quite the sh*t talker. I was just as shocked as you were to see him posting here to be honest. If you knew the PvP community, this kind of sarcasm is just the norm. So ya, it's not me. I only have two accounts which are posted in my sig. In the future though, I wouldn't be surprised if other PvPr's stumbled into this thread and ruffle some feathers - it's what they do. lol

The flames in PMs is just typically from PvPrs. Sometimes they throw commentary about my art into the troll to try and get a reaction out of me is all.
