Then again, RCS is a trial zone as well which doesnt make sense.
[/ QUOTE ]
RCS is a trial zone because you can start the 3rd respec in it, I think..
But it's 2:20 and I may be wrong..
[/ QUOTE ]
true, however it only has a contact starting the trial which is in Terra Volta. The other trial zones (faultline, eden and terra volta) have (or in the case of faultline used to have) an entrance to a trial map (the dam, eden spire, terra volta core). RCS doesnt have this thats why it doesnt make sense to me. Not sure bout hamidon, might be called a trial zone cause its linked to eden.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's what I was thinkin and wasn't unsure about RCS for this reason. -

3) There are three, interactive, doors in the abandoned portal Corp Base to the far north west.
[/ QUOTE ]
These doors are very likely to be enviroinmental(spelling?)because they likely picked a King's Row-like warehouse and slapped it there tho -
[ QUOTE ]
I've made a map of Hive containing all that was posted here(or at least most of it). Click here.
[/ QUOTE ]
All 3 of the forest are accessible, however there's always 3-4 monsters inside.
We tried to clear one a while back but we found out nothing useful..
Don't forget that the PC area isn't at all filled with monsters like the rest of the Hive, it's the _only_ place in the map where you can stay put without danger.
Forget about clearing all of the GM walls, been tried in the US, leaving people where the walls used to be to avoid respawns but even after cleqaring them all they came to no results.
We even tried to clear a whole hill guarded by the swarm but looks something like impossible because as soon as you go far enough a new GM spawns where you previously cleaned..
The cave doors are indeed unclickable and they don't even open with the Power of the Scrapapocalypse summoned by Chives, so something REALLY big must be done to open them -
[ QUOTE ]
Curiouser and curiouser. I don't know if anyone has seen this before. Someone must have. But while havinf a butchers at the Hive this evening I came accross this mob (see linky)
Now a litte further investigation showed 4 or five similar spawns of DE all walling off an entrance to the center of the hive (at ground lvl at least) and at the approximate four corners of the depression inside which Hami resides.
Two thing strike me about this:
1) the distictive formation, almost like they are guarding the jelly.
2) the only spawns I can see in the whole of th Hive that have non-monster DE in them.
Could these mobs be linked to a way to limit Hamis power so fewer peeps can take him?
Your thoughts.
[/ QUOTE ]
These are the 'GM Walls' I mentioned and mapped before in the thread, near those walls there's also a small spawn of Eminators summoners of lvl 41-43.
That's why we're sayin it looks like a big mission/trial rather then a simple, huge and useless zone(but we can be wrong, given the uslesness of RCS and Faultline).. -
For a PvP tanker I would go for invuln, hands down.
Mobility, excellent mez resist toggle and resist based, wich is the most important thing.
Ice is just too much unrelyable and with Aim + BU your defense is next to useless, while the resists are always there, like a warm fur -
[ QUOTE ]
Well, I'm level 31 atm, so the next powers the doozy. I've already got tough and kick. I was pondering ReE after getting Radded to death by Anti-Matter on SK,and Stomp is a necessity, but Unstoppable seems a death knoll on my character.
[/ QUOTE ]
These robots are nasty because they destroy your defence(as much as the one of an ice tank, the res to DEF debuff is really useless)for everything else bar psi, I've managed fine without any passive bar RPD and TH, feel free to ask around if you're sceptic -

PB 1 PBAoE Stun - WS 1 Cone Stun
[/ QUOTE ]
Doesn't the WS alos have an AoE stun? Unchain Essence?
[/ QUOTE ]
Uhmm....Does that stun?
I never noticed it because when I hit Unchain Essence unless against AVs or tough bosses everything else is face down...
And about Inky Aspect, I've never heard someone say that DA scrapper are 'controllerish' but they have far better mob control than a WS can hope for with CoF and Oppressive Gloom -

I wouldn't leave out either REl or REn of my build.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ditto. You're a Tank for gawd sake!
[/ QUOTE ]
If you're planning _not_ to take the fighting pool, pick those 2, otherwise Weave offers a far better damage mitigation than both of those..
RPD can make you hit the S/L cap res with Tough and the change from 78% to 90% it's pretty important. -

I also doubt sincerely that they meant for more than one team to go at it.
8 man team is as 8 man team does. They must've worked with the limit of a 8 man team since that's the limit they enforced.
[/ QUOTE ]
There was a post from a dev/moderator/whatever that works for Cryptic that said that he can be taken down with(the number he said)27 peoples.
My general impression of the hive is that it looks like a huge Sewer Trial, with the 3 woods acting as the shield generators...But that's all I can think of, I would really love to find something out before TEH AMERICANS!
[/ QUOTE ]
From what I remember it was a test done by the devs with (about) 27 Rad/Rad defenders during I3 - they debuffed the hell out of hami
[/ QUOTE ]
It was a strategy they used to farm Hamidon, before they increased his damage, range and resistances.
It's in the US forums still, the post about the 27 people to kill him was post I5. -

Never gave up on this opinion, there MUST be something more about the Hive that's still undiscovered, because it's unlikely for the devs to put something in this game that would focus so much on a single AT since they always tried to make any AT not needed(basically you could hami raid with just 50-60 trollers), a way to take him down is there, hidden but there's a way other than the brute force, they tried everything to avoid the brute force approach by pumping Hamidon up countless times, another go at pumping him up to try and avoid that would make people complain too much I think so they'll leave him as it is.
But it's unreal that they thought a thing THIS bad: stressing a server to the point it crashes for an end-game challenge for wich you need at least 80-90 people....
I'm always up for some more investigation, tests and whatnot; if you're willing to arrange something on test I'm up for that, just send a tell to @Jiaozy or post somewhere in these boards and I'll join in.
My opinion that there's an easier way to take him down is backed up by the fact that they're putting in CoV a TF that needs only 8 people to accomplish to get the equivalent of an Hami-O. -
The passives (Resist elements and Resist energies) are very low priority and in most cases skippable.
If you're goin for the fighting pool with tough and weave you can skipp REl and REn alltogether IMO(especially with the upcoming change for non- scalable defence)because Weave alone gives you a better survivability than both of em, otherwise I'd pick them in the mid-late 20s, when you already have SOs and can get some resistances worth the name off them.
On my Invuln/SS i left them out, both. Tough+Resist Physycal and Temp Invuln make me really invulnerable against foes like malta, nemesis and most pretorian minions, while weave helps big time being stackable with Tough Hide and Invincibility gives you Ice tanker-like defence, when surrounded. -

I found Handclap to be invaluable on big teams but YMMV.
[/ QUOTE ]
As a stone tank I think that the last thing you may want to do is to spread them, because with perma granite and likely Rooted, it''s be a tad bit impossible to chase them ad taunt them back...
I'm gone with Fire epic and I think it helps big time for grabbing aggro, Fireball is my best taunt atm, so you may want to give that epic a try if you want to play in perma granite.
If you already have footstomp, rage, KO Blow and maybe haymaker from SS I really dunno how to help, because that' everything you need -

WS is more of a controlly type. More ranged and lock down powers. It's one of the more challenging ATs to play, I find.
[/ QUOTE ]
PB 1 hold - WS 1 hold
PB 1 PBAoE Stun - WS 1 Cone Stun
the WS gets the edge on controlling with an _uber_ single target Immob!!!
Wow, that's really controllery!!
Anyway, WS can do mass carnage, while a PB is better for picking single targets.
A PB is more like a scrapper, bosses and lieuts as first targets, while a WS fires at anything that moves, wipe the mob and gets back to the boss left alive with 10 hp -

it would be so much easier if we had a set day or 2 for this.

Wow. Cool. Did we slow down server time for everyone else as well, or just us?
[/ QUOTE ]
Only the Hive is slowed down, I've seen some test on the US boards once but can't find it anymore since I changed browser and lost all my bookmarks -
[ QUOTE ]
Hang on a moment.
This whole time thingy thing... could anyone explain it to me? Did we enter a slow-time-warp or something? Did we come out of the Hive actually about half an hour after we went in? Did server time pass differently for everyone else on the server? WOoOOO0000?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, we did, in fact, slowed down the time.
The server stress is so big that the time in there is effectively slowed, so everything ISN'T happening in real time but delayed, a lot.
If you activated the Vanguard medal you'll have noticed that it lasted at least 10-12 minutes, it wasn't due to the lag so you only _seen_ it last longer it _did_ last that long.
Same thing goes for Hasten, I used Hasten like 2-3 times top in the whole holding + pummeling phase.
If the thing you see were just delayed but happening in real time, any raid would fail due to Hami responding quickly than the player can see.
So, the pummeling team did roughly 12k damage each minute because after the Vanguard effect faded we were around 35k health left on him -
[ QUOTE ]
Yes. So in your case you would be better off replacing a damage with the Hami-O.
[/ QUOTE ]
Or better again make HO, 1 acc, 2 dmg and 3 recharges -
[ QUOTE ]
What combinations are there? Just wondering.
[/ QUOTE ]
Nucleolus Exposure - Damage and Accuracy
Centriole Exposure - Damage and Range
Peroxisome Exposure - Damage and Mez*
Endoplasm Exposure - Accuracy and Mez*
Golgi Exposure - Heal and Endurance Reduction
Ribosome Exposure - Increase Damage Resistance and Endurance Reduction
Microfilament Exposure Travel Speed Increase** and Endurance Reduction
Lysosome Exposure - Increase ToHit and Defense Debuffs, and Increases Accuracy
Enzyme Exposure - Increase ToHit and Defense Debuffs, and Endurance Reduction
Membrane Exposure - Increase ToHit and Defense Buffs, and Increase Attack Rate
Cytoskeleton Exposure - Increase ToHit and Defense Buffs, and Endurance Reduction
*Mez includes Holds, Sleeps, Disorients, Stuns, and Immobilizes, but NOT Knockback, or Slow. If a power has two of those effects, the enhancement will affect both.
**Travel Speed Increase applies to Fly, Super Speed, and Super Jump, but NOT Teleport. To increase the speed of Teleport, range enhancements are needed.
@Dagar
With an Hami-O I'm almost sure you can increase the range of Shadow Maul(iirc you're DM/DA, right?)makin it even more powerful, I'm not completely sure of this tho, you may want to try on the test server or wait a reply from someone that knows for sure. -
[ QUOTE ]
For those who do plan to use these tactics again, there are two a couple of areas we kind of fell down on.
[/ QUOTE ]
This was the first time it's been attempted in the EU server, I'm glad we didn't end up crashing the server or getting wiped.
[ QUOTE ]
- Getting to the blob. This was a real pain for those teams that did not have fly. Group fly is OK but if you're in one of the three 'key' teams of illu's, tanks and kinetics that need to drop in first, trying to get everyone with fly is probably the way to go. I also think something is wrong in the Hive as 'swarm' cluds didn't just slow recharge but actually de-toggled our entire team en route. Thanks to Sara Aegis for having recall friend as we wouldn't have been able to get in place without it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Those Devouring Swarm have a -TP, -Fly, -Jump debuff, so you have to stay REALLY high to avoid them and stay as high when approacing Hamidon cos he can attack you at almost twice the range of a snipe.
[ QUOTE ]
- The drop. This is VERY tricky as getting the tanks far enough away from the other guys did prove to be a bit of a problem. We tried to move away from the 'turtle' but people were so far spread out that it was hard to see where the turtle began and ended. It was also proving impossible to actually get in range to taunt/epic hold him at some points due to the sheer number of heroes. The fact the tanks were all in the black costume and repeated shouts for the hangers on to move away from us were ignored was just annoying.
[/ QUOTE ]
This has been the trickiest part, never had any experience of this so I had to make up things on the moment as many things were just guesses in my head, so I had to try it out.
[ QUOTE ]
- Target Hamidon through the pets. With Hamidon disappearing so much, it was getting tiring hearing people saying 'I can't see him' every 10 seconds and ignoring calls to target through the pets. From beginning to end, we had a couple of singularities who had a lock on Hami for the entire encounter but people didn't seem to want to use them.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thusfar I've seen this problem at every raid I've been at, people don't understand what 'Target trough a pet' means, serious.
[ QUOTE ]
Hami seemed to be held VERY quickly. Unfortunately, the lag and server slowdown made it impossible to confirm.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actualy, we took him down in like 15 minutes of server time, maybe less..
My Vanguard boost lasted for 18 minutes, so, since it took us 2 hours odd to take him down, my guesses are that 1 in minute was equal to 12/15 real life minutes...
[ QUOTE ]
Still the usual noob problems that seem to go with the territory of people having no idea of the plan but deciding they can order the attack, tell people when to use Vanguard, not turn off useless powers that cause lag, etc but most of them were kept under control.
[/ QUOTE ]
Every raid leader wish he could kick griefers, n00b or generally annoying people from the Hive, but since we can't, we'll have to stick with them...
[ QUOTE ]
I think Jiaozy should dish out the names of everyone who sent him these nooby tells, if not in public, but too me at least, so I can laugh at them forever more.
[/ QUOTE ]
I really wish I could remember them so I could ask the [censored] if they're still sure of what they're sayin..
But I was getting tell from half the hive and 25% of the people outside, so replying, remembering and sending off the right answer to the right people was a real issue...
I've had some moments in wich I never understood what was goin on between tells, global channel, team, request and broadcast(all the channels I was looking at, I removed everything else).. -
[ QUOTE ]
I'm still confused as too why Hami does that?
Phases in and out, anyone know why?
[/ QUOTE ]
Because the game engine can't hand enough particle to show everything that' happenning(all of the heroes, all of the pwoers, morons spamming useless powers and toggling on Shadowfall and Steamy mist, you in speedos and such)and has to choose 'something' so show use, often are the other players, sometimes the server shows us Hamidon.
EDIT:
To all those that during the raid were sending me tells like:
'That's a n00b plan, it ain't gonna work'
'Great n00b plan, the Mitos will heal him to full'
'[censored] U DOIN? DO YOU KNOW HOW TO LEAD THIS'
'Do you know of the existence of an accolade called Vanguard?!!?Make them use it FFS!!'(this one as soon as the holders came in)
I would like to thank you, because [sarcasm]you really boosted my confindence and helped cheering everyone up[/sarcasm] but we all know that there's always some moron out there. that he knows lots more than you and I'm so happy you've all been proven wrong! -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
yay i get credit!
[/ QUOTE ]
Deserved.
You mean raids aren't normaly that good?
[/ QUOTE ]
Nope, cos I can't organize every raid on Union ya know -
Very well done Union, I'm quite happy this turned out nicely.
We entered the Hive at 19.48 and left victorious at 22.12.
A bit more than the announced 2 hours but not much, we had a rough start getting everyone up there before goin onto him and setting the healing blanket up, but we made it really smoothly after that.
Technically we made it in something like 15 minutes server-wise, but due to the huge lag it took us more than 2 hours(Vanguard lasted 18 real life minutes, meaning in game just a minute passed)
A big thanks to everyone that helped:
Stagefright for the awesome PA drop.
Lifeline for the second kinetics team.
Jersey for the pummeling leading, David Pyrons for being late.
D-Zol for the taunting team.
oozygirl and Double for the main blaster holding teams.
Babel for doin [censored] all but reporting the health of hami.
The whole rad team that kept us under at least 6 AM for the whole raid.
Everyone that was in there and helped thi to succed, thanks again people!
