Yes. Open "My Published Stories" and edit them from there. You can't overlay a published story with a local copy of it, though -- my recommendation is after publishing, you only make edits on the published version, then after editing, save your local copy from the published version. That way you always have a backup, but the "master version" is the published one, not the local one.
[/ QUOTE ]
I haven't "saved my local copy from the published version" yet. Is that an option from inside the local copy or is there a special step to take? -
Yes.
Don't "unpublish", just edit your published one. The options at the top then say things like "republish and play" or "republish and exit".
iedit: I always "republish and exit" because it seems to take a few seconds for that to happen. I'll then wait for the confirmation to pop up and then enter for a test run to see how the changes work. -
I'm glad our community is basically a nice one...because this thread proves we could be evil if we wanted to be.

NEWS: The bug that was causing groups to get fewer tickets than they should has been squished on Test.
[ QUOTE ]
Fixed bug that lowered the amount of tickets dropped as the group size increased

That's awesome news and should help MA teaming. I was pretty much forced to solo the first few days to get the unlockable content. -

and it's not directed at you. i really love players who refuse to say they "farm". doing the same tf more then once is farming. doing RWZ raids more then once is farming. getting defeat badges is farming. doing your friends missions after you have already done the same ones is farming. get the point yet. anything can be considered farming. i'll tell ya what, ill do your arc and if i get more then 1 ticket or badge it's a farm.
[/ QUOTE ]
I was given to understand that farming was doing the same mission over and over again because it gave a decent reward of some kind and for no other reason. Isn't farming more about intent than anything? I don't think most of those things you mentioned could be called farming without the intent.
[/ QUOTE ]
Check out an illusionist badge farm sometime. The "reward" is getting that irritating badge...not much else. You'll also find high lvl toons farming Fake Nemesis for no xp to help a friend get the badge. Lots of players have "merit farming toons" too that they use to run LGTF or ITF over and over.
Lot's of ways to farm. -
[ QUOTE ]
I will say this about farming....
Have you been to Grandville on Freedom? There is no pay to farm threads anymore...with autoexempts, and difficulty modifiers, any team can go in and do what they want. I actually had to laugh because alot of "pay farm veterans" were sitting in GV lamenting over their lost business wondering where they would not find their infamy to enhance their new toons.
If that isn't an improvement in the game, I don't kow what is.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hey...that's true. This will put a serious dent in some people's inf earning for sure. (Another one I didn't understand...why would you pay "1 million per run"? That's just insane.) -
[ QUOTE ]
I think the custom farm mishes are sad and are more damaging than realized. If you can create a cutom mish designed to level your characters and to reap maximum amounts of Xp/inf/Tix then how much would you still populate the real game? Why explore the well crafted COH mythos when you can reduce it to a bunch of Xp and money pinatas.I'd like to think most people would want something more, something creative, imaginative and engrossing but the proliferation of these farms on the AE says that they don't. Forming your own mishes in this way is akin to a massive cheat code which I find to be exploitation.
[/ QUOTE ]
Judging from this post, I would assume that you wouldn't want to team with these people anyway. You should be thanking them from taking themselves out of "your game".
[ QUOTE ]
Finding missions within the game that you can utilize for gains is one thing but creating them for that purpose from scratch is quite another.
[/ QUOTE ]
I guess I don't see the difference.
[ QUOTE ]
I also think it a sad waste for such a great tool. I admire the players who take the time to enhance the COH mythology and game experience by ingesting their imagination, tales and characters into it. This breathes life into the game and is the real beauty behind the system.
[/ QUOTE ]
Do yourself a favor and visit the MA forum further down (why are they in separate sections anyway?) You'll find a couple of threads full of missions you can do. You'll never ever have to worry about a "farm" again. I can't begin to keep up with the missions posted...a never-ending supply.
[ QUOTE ]
Taking something like that and just using it to Power Level your characters seems wrong on so many levels.
[/ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
It just seems to me that when people are given an opportunity to express themselves and become part of a well established mythos and choose to ignore the potential and possibilities that can be explored in such a rare storytelling context, it's just really sad.
[/ QUOTE ]
You have to be cautious about assigning your values and ideas about "fun" to everyone else. I know it's hard to imagine that other people have radically different ideas about things like that, but it's true. (I"m serious...it is hard to imagine why other people don't agree with everything I think is "cool". Why would anyone think Madonna has any talent for instance?)
-
[ QUOTE ]
Make your custom enemy group, then put an ally or hostage or something in there from a standard group that is only lvl 50 and higher. The mission will automatically raise everyone below that level mark up to it for a vil difficulty. For a relentless dif it will make everyone lvl 48 who isn't that high already. It will leave 49's and 50's their normal levels.
Wallah, I can now take anyone of any level I want along with me to play not just so many lowbies and so many highbies. Think of it as the inverse of what ouro missions do. If that doesn't encourage teaming i don't know what does. Noone doorsits, everyone is within combat ranges. Everyone fights and we play as a group. Hmmmmm....and this is bad because?
[/ QUOTE ]
Hey that's actually pretty cool. It would solve the "we need another mentor..hang on...I'm looking" problem.
Of course I wouldn't want to keep doing the same one over and over. Having a bunch of them would be cool. -
<qr>
"Finally" is a good word to use.
I've been doing random arcs since this started and haven't run across a farm yet. I'm also picking a lot of arcs out of the thread for them on this forum, so that is a good way to avoid them if it bothers you. (Which it seems to)
"Farming" seems to get way more attention than it deserves and I think that hurts this game sometimes. Too often we seem to approach anything new with the "stop the farmers" attitude FIRST....instead of the "how can this be fun for the players" attitude. (Thank god the "reduced xp" idea didn't get put in for MA.)
Farmers having been "killing the game" for a long time now and I'm still having a great time. Their impact is highly overrated in my opinion. -
The title says it.
I want a mission to take place on an island but I don't really see one listed. The eden map is about the closest one I've tried.
Is there a better one? -

Hellooos. Would really appreciate an honest review and feedback. I also would love to do the same for someone who wants it.... just let me know
Name: Once Upon a Time
Arc ID: 29448
Your global/forum name: @Dark Tarani
Length: 3 missions/long
Arc Synopsis: A bit of a fairy tale
I have really been enjoying playing all the new and creative arcs.... many of them have really been outstanding.
[/ QUOTE ]
Just finished it solo with a Scrapper. Mucho fun! Loved the concept and I loved your critters...the costumes were really cool. I do wish you would write some bios for them though.
I also kind of wish you didn't let the "twist" out so soon. I knew it at the end of the first mish. Make us wait for that.
This dialog at the end: (spoilers!)
[NPC] Grandma: Thank you deary, the forest is mine! You have rid me of those silly girls! It is your turn to DIE!
[NPC] Grandma: You have done my bidding! I have my Tarani and all of the forest.... you cannot defeat me!
[NPC] Grandma: Tarani! You are mine! I command you to kill them! You cannot betray me deary! The cloak.....is......
That seems a bit repetitive. Maybe it's just me.
I loved it. -

Just ran Attack of the Buxom Bikini Babes (#29448)
4 missions. Mix of custom mobs and a WIDE variety of standard. (Including some rarely seen ones that are very cool)
Pretty funny story and fun missions. Was run with a full team and it got hairy at times. Not sure how it would go solo. Some of the custom names cracked me out. I gave it 5 stars for the fun factor alone. -
[ QUOTE ]
Remember the rule in the first post of this thread: You review an arc, then put one of yours up for review. That's why people have been getting skipped the last few pages.
[/ QUOTE ]
I put mine up already but I guess it wouldn't hurt to repost since I have changed it (again).
#2649 "Nerf Herder must go!" (comedy)
I'm going to figure out why I can't edit the bio on one of the lesser bosses one of these days....minor thing...but slightly annoying. -
[ QUOTE ]
Arc Name: Cops and Graverobbers
Arc ID: 32803

Just ran it and had a good time. Lots of things to do which kept my attention.
That final room is pretty fun. I was on my Spines/Dark Scrapper so I beat down the Boss....twice. (Wasn't I surprised when he popped back up and stunned me)
I enjoyed the poor robot cop's drama too. -

Jason and the argonauts. The day after tomorrow. They both have stateof the art effects for their time, but only one is still awesome. It's NLT always about the tech.

Ray Harryhausen is ALWAYS awesome, you philistine!!!
Or is that what you meant?
[/ QUOTE ]
Lol, I just took it as read that nobody would even consider The Day After Tomorrow a better film than Jason.
Eco.
EDIT maybe I shouldn't have used the word 'still' in my post - The Day After Tomorrow was never awesome lol
[/ QUOTE ]
Hee hee...true. "Still" may have been a bad choice. The effects were pretty cool in TDAT at least...I'll admit I enjoyed them. But boy was the rest of it bad.
I would also suggest that the original King Kong is superior to any of the remakes despite the dated FX. (Though Jessica Lange was very hot in the '76 version.) -

Just finished my arc and putting it up for review.
'Hail to the King'
Arc # 34640
Length: Long, but not really.
Missions: 3 relatively short.
Description: Strange sightings at a local casino are brought to your attention. Gangsters, aliens and celebrity impersonators make for strange bedfellows.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's a great concept! (I'm making one in the same flavor myself right now)
I did it on Heroic and something tells me that was a good idea.
Spoilers:
The rat pack as a custom group? Excellent! Sammy was one to watch out for.
The Boss dialog in the last mission was hilarious. (Just what I was thinking for mine...so naturally I think it's great)
The whole thing was well done...two thumbs up!
edit: Oh...there is a typo in the 2nd mish intro...a missing space. -
I have one particular boss description that I seem to be unable to edit. I've tried editing from the published mish, I've tried editing from "my creations". It shows up as changed in the mission editor....but when I enter the mish and grab the info from the Boss it's back to what it was.
Is this a bug or am I missing something? -

My arc:
Arc Name: Support your local scouts
Arc ID: 7058
Faction: Villainous
Creator Global/Forum Name: @Leatherneck CoV
Difficulty Level: Medium
Synopsis:
Spiderling Scout Meg has a problem and you have the solution. Check your morals at the door. (This has been tested with solo high and low level characters)
Estimated Time to Play: 1-1.5 hrs
This is my first real go at this. I didn't include anything like ambushes or backtracking. Other than the plot, everything is pretty much straight forward.
[/ QUOTE ]
I did feel weird helping that nasty little girl. lol
First...thank you thank you for not making the lower lvl mishes "kill all". Snagging the glowies kept me sane. (No Stamina or travel power! augh!)
I enjoyed myself but felt like I needed more info. Now...I might be way off here because my nephew joined me and he was a train wreck. ("I can't see broadcast!" "How do you see chat bubbles?" "How do I get two chat boxes?" "Where are you?" "Hello?" "I'm going to switch toons" "I'm going to switch back to the first toon" "Hello?" "Invite please!" "You're so lucky to have a lvl 50...I can never get past lvl 6") So this may have been the greatest arc ever and I may not have noticed. (How do you kick your nephew?) The concept was a really good one and I especially liked the Atlas mish. Fill me in better on how their "reality" is being saved and I'm in.
I say good job! -

And now I submit mine own:
Title: 7662 - The Fan Club
MArc #: 5898
Length: 4 missions
Description: Pretty easy IMO, but I'm hoping for a good story. Be sure to read the clues! (And yes, the 7662 is in the title; that's for RO purposes.)
[/ QUOTE ]
Just finished.
Loved it! *****
Before I forget...the end dialog confused me for a split second.
"It's times like these I hate, $player."
It sounded like I was being blamed. (the comma didn't jump out at meVery minor though...don't worry about it. Reword it if you think more people will be as dense as me.
Only other complaint was the lvl was below 50...which I dislike (miss mah shiney powers!). But I know that's not your fault.
The story was very cool.
I have a fan club! Now that's a great way to stroke the ego of the average player.I figures mine would be idiot vigilantes. I felt kinda sad at the end. I'm assuming you are adding more?
Very nice job and I'll put some of it to use myself. -
I 2nd the badge thing. Too yummy to pass up. I test like crazy.
I guess I would feel pretty safe in publishing though...as was mentioned, just make a note in the description "this mish sucks right now! I'm testing!"And when you see how many arcs are out there...odds are no one will play it.

title: Nerf Herder must go!
#2649 (comedy)
2 mish, 1 EB in first, 1 AV in 2nd. Lower diff if solo.
Nerf Herder and his infamous Anti-fun league are on the loose! They are teaming up with the exiled (and angry) 5th Column to acquire a shipment of nerf bats to use on the playerbase.
You've got to stop that shipment and ban Nerf Herder from the message boards!
[/ QUOTE ]
Just finished running it solo on a 46 Blaster. A friend joined me halfway through the second mission though.
Overall, cute and light. Enemies were a bit of a cakewalk against a Blaster, but the Scrapper friend seemed to have trouble against them.
Mission 1: Text in opening was a little off in a couple of spots. "...reduce all reward and increase all risk," most prominently. Maybe change up to "... reduce all rewards and increase all risks"?
Nerf Master's death talk was also a bit on the random side, but the rest was good.
I liked the Star Wars nod though, with the Boss clue. Nifty!
Mission 2: Cute 2001 ref with the Computer, but a bit cliche.
I really enjoyed the fight talk from Nerf Herder though. And, of course, he had to have a bat. :P
Good quick run and rated ****

Interesting! A Blaster had an easier time than a Scrapper? Now my world is upside down.(I've changed the powers around about 5 times looking for "balance".)
I'm glad the Star Wars and 2001 references were recognized. I wasn't sure if anyone would get them but me.
Thanks for the input. I'll polish it a bit. I'll get to yours this weekend...hopefully tonight...I'm at work right now and have to go skating when I get home (yes...you read that right..skating...). I'll try it with a Controller I think.

Can't wait to try it.
(This really is the coolest feature ever...I swear I've never wanted to get back to the game this much for any other issue.) -
[ QUOTE ]
I think 90% of the problem you're touching on is because we don't have the option to turn off certain powers from our custom critters. I may want a specific difficulty level, but that just means the villains chain-blind you forever and ever, for example. I'd like the fire/fire tank in my arc to be as tough as possible, but dear doG don't let him rez! As it is now, that's not possible.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's the first thing I want. I've run up against this problem twice in the two arcs I've worked on. The first time I had to totally gimp a lt to get rid of Smoke, the second time I had to drop a powerset (FF) completely from an ally because there was no way to get rid of Detention Field. (We all know how irritating that one would be.)
Here is the way I'm trying to look at it. (Just me...not saying anyone else should.)
I would love to have my arc well liked just like anyone else. But I'm trying to remember that this is the coolest thing ever introduced into this game. Standing away from myself, it would seem pretty silly to complain that I "only" get to make 3 story arcs. And maybe the "stars" aren't really important other than to my self esteem. Maybe the truth is that I can have unlimited arcs. I shouldn't be that concerned about unpublishing an arc and putting another one in its place. I probably shouldn't worry about losing those 6 ratings.
I try to imagine how much I would have been laughed at a couple of years ago if I said, "Wouldn't it be cool if they let us make our own story arcs? Like design everything about them?...the dialog, the costumes, choose the maps, the powers? Maybe even have up to 5 missions in the arc?"
The first response would have of course been: "Never going to happen"
But if I convinced anyone that it could happen...what would they say if I pointed out the "downside" of only getting to make 3 arcs?
I imagine the response would be something like: "First of all, it won't happen...second of all, three arcs isn't enough? How ungrateful are you anyway? If they give you 5 arcs, you'll complain about that, won't you? Then they up it to 10 and you'll still complain." (Just substitute the argument used when someone suggest raising the lvl cap here.)
So I totally get what you guys are saying...but I'm trying to rein myself in and realize I'm rolling in "win" here.
