I never said electro-shock therapy.
What I said was the people who keep posting the same stupid ideas should be subjected to electrical shocks. Similar to the training collars you can get to teach your dog not to leave the yard.
When an idea is proven to be stupid by...
A. forum users who are able to show how it is a stupid idea or
B. the devs saying its not gonna happen because its a stupid idea.
The person should get a slight electric shock to teach them not to post stupid ideas over and over again.
[/ QUOTE ]
Boy if I had a nickle for every time I have heard that one in response to a suggestion on this board.
"We need more digits on the trade window! It takes me forever to transfer on million!"
"Put a train in Founders Falls!"
"Let us have cross-faction teaming outside of special events in Pocket D!"
"Why not let us have the ability to write our own missions?"
All those provoked the infamous "Never going to happen...stop suggesting stupid ideas". -
I don't see what is so bad about them myself. As Mirai mentioned, they have a nice high ceiling....which beats a lot of other maps right there.
I don't find them any more boring than the other maps I've seen a million times. And I can find stuff easier on them too. It's a simple layout by necessity. If you're in a hurry for some reason, that map is for you.
I had to use one on the first mish of my arc because it's a ship. Not a lot of options there. No "kill all" though. -
I hope so.
They supposedly DID fix it...but you still don't get close to what you get solo. Like you, I'm using tickets to buy salvage now, so I just pick an arc, solo the first mish, and then buy my salvage. You won't get enough on a team unless you play for a long time. -

I hate to break your bubble but the game store I used to frequent before I moved two years ago had several teens with credit cards. Either like the ones advertised in that link, prepaid cards, or bank atm Visa's.
These kids weren't all just from the same neighborhood either. That store was the only one around and kids came in from as far as 20 miles away.
The older kids would drive, while the parents of some of the younger ones would drop them off for the day. When the store ran overnight lockins you'd see parents leave kids there almost the whole weekend.
Now I'll admit in some parts of the US this may not be the case, but I think the closer you get to the big cities the more frequently you'll run into it, especially on the East and West coasts.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'll take "several teens from different neighborhoods". What would that be...one in twenty households? One in fifty?
Now how many of that group play this game?
We are talking about a pretty small group of people here. (And if "teens" means an 18 year old...they are probably better players than me.) So I would hate for something useful to get flushed out of the idea bin because of some minute group of souls who may show up with Sands of Mu "unearned".

And something tells me the typical 12 year old kid won't have the means to buy lvl 50s. So those who do will at least not suck (like the typical 12 year old kid who is pl'ed in a week).
[/ QUOTE ]
Wanna bet? You may not have noticed but there are several companies out there that are issuing credit cards to kids.
Credit cards for kids
These companies have to be making money off of this idea or they'd never do it. So it's very possible your typical 12 year old will have the means to buy characters.
[/ QUOTE ]
That convinces me that in rare cases, a 12 year old will have a credit card. I'm willing to bet that the typical 12 year old will not. Pick a random one and see if they have one. -
Ah...so I have to be "sly" about it. I can do that.
edit: I remember back in the day...I saw a guy running around with a "Freddie Mercury". He was hilarious...he had a LONG list of keybinds that used titles of Queen songs to fit every situation. So he would get the "generic-hero" tag, eh? -
[ QUOTE ]
QR- Apart from Jay's response (which i disagree with by the way) the standard response I have seen on this is that its too much work, much like many suggestions that are shot down.
As an aside I wonder what would happen at my job if I told the customers that I cannot do what they ask because its "too much work"?
[/ QUOTE ]
I too would love an "overweight" option. Especially now that I can make characters in MA. -
[ QUOTE ]
Oh and that reminds me of another flaw. Epic AT's are unlocked when an account earns it's first 50. Meaning a player leveled a character from 1 to 50 on that particular account. What happens when a person gets a character from another account that he/she didn't get up to level 50.
Also Epic AT's could be transferred to accounts where the player never earned the right to play one.
[/ QUOTE ]
That sounds like it work exactly like the MA worked when transferring missions to live servers. If you made a mish on Test that had unlockable content, you couldn't use it on Live until you unlocked it there.
Just make it so you can't transfer a Kheld or SoA to an account that hasn't unlocked them.... Or they are "greyed out" after the transfer until you unlock it. (If you want to park a toon that can't be used, that's up to you.)
If you transferred the only lvl 50 from one account to another....well. The original account shouldn't lose the EAT and the new one shouldn't gain it. The act of dinging 50 should unlock it. If it can't work that way...(shrug)...I won't lose any sleep over it. Pretty yawn-worthy if someone is playing a EAT they didn't "earn". If heroside is any indication, the Khelds aren't a big draw anyway. Seems highly unlikely there would be a mad rush to get one. (Especially since getting to 50 is so easy anyway)
I'm not so cynical as you.I don't think it would be more than a minority using it to "buy a lvl 50". And even if they did, my question would be, "Would we notice?" Don't we have some that rush to 50 in a week now? I know I've seen accounts for sale on ebay (I think it was ebay) that advertised how many lvl 50s were on it. If it was that big a deal it would be a bigger deal now. And something tells me the typical 12 year old kid won't have the means to buy lvl 50s. So those who do will at least not suck (like the typical 12 year old kid who is pl'ed in a week).
Would this make it easier for them? Sure. And it would make it easier for those of us with legit intentions too. That's really the only group I'm looking out for. ... And it would be CoX making the money instead some ebay guy.
Reminds me of drug prohibition for some reason. Outlaw drugs and people still take them....but you create crime, full prisons, huge government expense, and low quality drugs. Legalize them and you make money from taxes, have a high quality product for sale, save money on...DEA, Coast Guard, Vice Squads, Border Patrols, judges, prison guards/cells...and the crime goes away. Use a portion of the money for education and treatment instead and end up with less of a problem for FAR less money spent. (You would only have to deal with the unemployment caused by all the lawyers, drug dealers, and drug enforcement personnel....who would all be out of a job that day.) I can't believe we made the prohibition mistake TWICE and still can't see that the exact same problems happened the 2nd time.
(cough) Well anyway... -
I got an idea that amuses me...but it involves well-known celebrities in a certain field.
Is that allowed? Or is it against one of the rules? -

Yes, it is. The bug that made a team of 8 get 1/8ths the drops, then divided 8 ways between the members, etc., is/should be fixed by now.
You still get more tickets, by far, soloing than you do grouping, but the same can be said for drops and grouping in general.
[/ QUOTE ]
eeeeeeexcellent.
EDIT: Won't feel like I'm gimping my new toons now when I team in the MA.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not so fast.
I just ran a ITF during which I got 5 lvl 50 common IO recipes.
Then I jumped on an 8 person AE team and ran two missions. I got 36 tickets for the first one and 22 for the 2nd one. The price for a lvl 50 Damage IO recipe is 250 tickets.
It's still not close to the rewards you get solo and isn't in the conversation with the rewards you get in the regular game. -

I avoid the AE lag the same way I avoid the WW lag.
Use the one in Kings Row.
[/ QUOTE ]
Shhhh! -
I've been soloing a lot since I14 went live due to the ticket-team problem.
I see that they addressed this in a recent patch but haven't actually teamed in a while. So is it better now? -
[ QUOTE ]
To begin with learn to use the edit feature if you want to add something to your suggestion.
No, we will never see this idea happen. It can be abused far too easily.
1. This opens the door for people to sell characters. A large portion of our playerbase uses time cards and there's no way to confirm that those accounts are being paid for by the same person.
2. Vet badges are awarded based on account activity. Allowing account transfers would mean characters with many vet rewards could be transferred to accounts that didn't earn the rewards, and vice versa.
3. Booster packs and new game editions are applied to individual accounts. Account transfers would allow people to get access to special items from one account onto accounts they didn't buy the codes for.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ehh...I'm sorta tired of everything being decided by what a minority of exploiters would do. There are a bunch of us that would use it in a positive way....we should count too. If a few buy a lvl 50 I don't see how that changes anything for me. (Yeah...big friggin difference from what we have now.) And a teammate with Recall Team who didn't "earn it" won't bother me in the slightest.
Now me personally...not sure I would ever use it. I've got 3 accounts...one is used by my nephew. The other two accounts are fine the way they are. Both were started within a month of each other so the vet reward stuff is equal. I actually LIKE having the ability to pass things back and forth between alts (even SG promotions/invites) so I certainly would never go down to one account. I have one character on the 3rd account that could potentially be moved to one of the two "mains"...but that's it.
...After thinking about it for a sec I realized I WOULD use it. ...But in a reverse way from the "exploits" listed above. There are a couple of characters that I would move to the 3rd account. One that my brother used to play on the 2nd account and one my nephew started on the 2nd account. Both are never played by me but my poor nephew is always complaining that he can't play them any more because I'm always on when he wants to play. Those characters would have to give up the vet stuff though...the 3rd account is about 2 years younger.
-
This works for me.
I never rate an arc I didn't finish anyway. (Except...yesterday I ran into a bug in a 4th mish for the second day in a row that kept me from completing it. I still liked it but didn't want to run it for a 3rd time.)
So if you make a horrible arc, you'll end up with zero ratings. That's a red flag to anyone that looks at it right there. If it's been up for 3 weeks and has no ratings, I would avoid it. Not foolproof, but nothing is. -

For people who want to powerlevel and farm, just leave them alone. They haven't done anything to you.
[/ QUOTE ]
Except increase the rate of inflation, chase me out of zones, annoy the piss out of me, send me random tells, throw repeated blind invites in my face, and gotten uppity when I dared to tell them 'No. I don't want to be a bridge'.
I've stated, repeatedly, how Farming affects the market. I'm not going to get back into that. Suffice it to say they DO affect anyone who uses the market. They DO affect the casual gamer (which our game consists primarily of)
I'm glad you think it's a horrible suggestion. Really, I am!~ It means you know how bad it makes me feel to post it, as a person who REALLY dislikes the idea of farming.
-Rachel-
[/ QUOTE ]
For all those who keep claiming that farmers are having a negative effect on the rest of us, I'm curious about something.
Is it not true that we now have more stuff than ever? We can quibble about inflation all we want, but that apparently is not having any negative effect on our ability to acquire things.
For various reasons (that all apply) I now have more costume options, more respecs, more influence, better enhancements, a bigger base, more things to do, and a generally more well rounded character than I ever had before. I'm going to suggest that this is an almost universal condition.
So where exactly is this negative impact? (from a monetary standpoint...the irritation factor is self imposed)
I still like your idea. -
[ QUOTE ]
Now, if anyone would like to try my arc and comment on it, I would greatly appreciate it.
Super Science Invasion
Arc ID:9691
Missions:5
Description:Legendary arbiter Stanley Kirby has come out of retirement for one last assingment.
Info: Plenty of EBs in this one, I wouldn't solo unless you're ready for that kind of fight.

Just did it. Good stuff if you ask me. Interesting story. I liked your cast of characters. I have a deep hatred for Longbow but my Scrapper seems to eat them for lunch. Bummed me out when I failed the 2nd mish when Insecti-Girl got away. I tried to keep knocking her down but she got to the elevator with a sliver of health.
It got dicey in the last mish when I ran out of insp. I was too lazy to step outside so I plodded onward and taught them the meaning of the word respect. (or maybe it was dictaphone) I was only on lvl 3 diff so they were red EBs. Hard without making me curse.
I say thumbs up!
edit: oh...this bit of dialog showed up at one point and I made a note of it: [ QUOTE ]
Dr. Wasp: Hmmm... if these calculations are correct I won't even need any salvage. <br><br> This cube will change everything.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not sure why the "<br> were in there. -
Hey, that's not bad. Sounds reasonable to me. (Before I've read the thread of course
)
-
I feel your pain.
I ran into a similar problem with a bubbler ally. There was no way to get rid of Detention Field. If I left him in, that's just going to irritate the crap out of everyone that plays it. I may try dropping him to a lt and see if that opens up a better option.
On another critter, I had a fire control lt that spams "smoke" at anything above the lowest setting. At the lowest setting he only has two powers from his primary. That kinda bites. He went from "irritating as heck" to "yawn...easy". I would love to have a happy medium in there somewhere. -

Is there any way the search functions for teamfinding could be made to include teams specific to the Architect missions?
Does anyone have any suggestions?
[/ QUOTE ]
That's a good idea actually.
Just put a note in your search box to that effect in the meantime.
I don't know how it is on other servers, but on Freedom I'm getting almost non-stop invites to MA teams. Yesterday I was fending them off while trying to edit my arc.
That could be part of the problem right now. A LOT of players are in full "edit-mode" at the moment. (And "finishing" one may never actually happen...I've gone back and changed more things than I can count) Another problem is the rewards for teaming are/were borked. When you run a full arc with a team and get 25 tickets, you'll quit and go solo pretty fast if you have some content to unlock. (I've got 3 accounts...so I have to do that 3 times) -

Very frustrating... been trying for at least 2 hours and all I get is ... "The image has expired. Please try again." AAaaarrrrhhhggg!!! Curses, foiled again!

hope you didn't end up with 3 extras like I did.
Can we get a refund on these? It did say "try again" after all.... -
Thanks...that would be a nice perk.

One word of caution:
While purchasing this pack and you click on the Confirm purchase button....and it takes so long that your browser window times out...do not hit refresh or you will have bought to packs like me
Not to big of a deal for me, I had another account that I was able to apply the second one to.

Seconded and thirded except for the fact that I only have one account, and it glitched and said that I bought two codes. Click once, and get two emails saying "you have purchased..."

Oh this is good....I've now got 3 extra ones.
Can we do anything with extras? -
Can someone in FF invite someone from Atlas to be on a MA mish team and just enter the mish from that zone?
I was thinking it would be like when you have a train mish and any train works. -
I had that same problem.
Just go to that character and "edit". Go through to the last screen where you pick what group it is in and change it there. (Make up a new group if you have to)
