No I'm pretty sure double xp does not count as a server-limited 'event' - I bet we could have double xp and the Halloween event at the same time.

Quote:Makes sense - save on costs that way. They usually have that covered as part of the distribution deals, and in the worse cases (bookstores do this a lot) they may just tell the store to destroy the copy since they cant do anything with it. There is certain level of trust (along with some ratios that cant be exceeded) between publishers and big chains like GameStop.

Atlantea, you do have a strange sense of honor.

Quote:I'm usually fairly keen on it and I re-read it - the last part was the only subtle hint but it still sounds like an honest opinion after multiple reads - no prob though!once again, sarcasm is too subtle for the internet.
guess I should have included some cane-shaking.
EDIT: yeah I just tested it - double xp is definitely turned off now. -
I figured it was just another 'misery loves company' display.

I guess the question to that is: how many years and years do you need to develop a character?

Quote:Hello Schismatrix, how's one of our favorite nitrogen atoms doing today?Actually that's not why people refer to you as a troll. More like the apparent lack of empathy and absence of civility. AKA acting like a jerk
Congratulations, you're officially a generic part of the internet, much like being a nitrogen atom in the atmosphere. -
I guess the counter-argument to that is looking at how our parents and grandparents saw our music is the same way you look at dubstep or the other way is to say that you are in favor of having more of the same repeated endlessly with no deviation or experimentation when it comes to the art of music.

Nope - how much you want to bet that Gamestop got screwed as they paid for two full copies and got to profit from only one?

Anyone test it to see if it was shut off? Is your patrol xp getting pushed forward? etc
EDIT: confirmed myself - it is turned off -
I wonder if it will hit 3 million by the end of October.

Quote:Yeah, for awhile Arenanet shut off digital sales from their own site partially due to the demand on their servers.Honestly, I don't think there's enough of us for buying or not buying GW2 to send any message at all to NCSoft (especially given that only a fraction of us would have bought it before all this went down). That's not to say everyone should rush out and buy it, but refraining from doing so is more about personal feelings, principles, satisfaction, etc - NCSoft won't notice either way.
-
What message does it send to Arenanet?

Quote:fwiw, take a look at JayboH's posting history for the past few days before replying to him.
Not sure what to make of this statement - all I know is that I am losing tolerance for those who disown others for not being as angry as they are over what is happening to the greatest MMO I've ever played.

Quote:Yeah it's sad. I doubt the Paragon Studios gang wants this kind of reaction.Bumping this thread to remind people there are still games to be played no matter who makes them. There are some toxic trheads out there from people wishing ill to certain companies and thus wishing more people will lose their jobs. I can't stand by and see these people do this to others with doing something.

Quote:I wish this was small enough to become my new sig. This is the full honest truth and the funny thing is that some people will condemn you for this honesty.I respectively disagree with his assertion that our closure would hurt NCSoft in either the short or long term. We are a very small segment of even the NA MMO gamer population. The vow to never buy another NCSoft title is hardly a monolithic stance among us. Most MMO gamers realize that MMOs close, although true not as many that have been around for as long as CoH. While our organized efforts have been well publicized by MMO news sites, the shear amount of daily news quickly scrolls us off the front page. Same is true with the majority of celebrity re-tweets and posts on their websites.
It's not like NCSoft is powering their games with the hearts of dead orphans. There isn't some big social concern that would rally non-players of our game to our cause and join an NCSoft boycott. And when Blade & Soul and WildStar finally comes to the US, several thousand gamers, most who wouldn't be interested in those games for one reason or other, vowing not to buy it won't even register. It's the inverse of the pirating argument where publishers believe that every pirated equals a lost sale. Vowing to never buy from someone when they don't have anything you wanted anyways isn't a threat. And not buying into a wildly popular new game from them such as GW3 impacts the revenue that game is generating insignificantly enough to not be noticed.
The problem is since we've lasted as long as we have, we believed that this game would be treated like Ultima Online or Everquest as one of the grand old, historically significant games that are limping along with a loyal player base. Yes we feel betrayed. Yes we are grieving at the loss of a world we routinely escape to but in the grand scheme of things we can barely make a ripple in the ocean of available revenue that all MMOs are fighting over. We can hope some benefactor will come forward and takeover from NCSoft and reconstitute at least part of the Paragon Studio team. But if you think our sudden closure or our vow to never spend money on another NCSoft game would actually harm them in someway, is wishful thinking at best, delusional at worst. -
Quote:I make replies to posts as I read them. The post you are referring to came later and it wasn't to me, whereas the one I quoted and replied to was.So, why did you cherry pick that post in particular out of the thread? Why not one of the more recent posts, maybe my response to Winterminal? Would you rather have seen me stay in the frame of mind that produced this thread? Yeah? Nice try, but you've got to be quick if you want to catch me down on my luck.
Just a bit of advice, dude. Joining the ranks of Lulipop and Kitsune Knight is not exactly what you ought to be striving for right now.
The rest of us have our sights set just a bit higher.
I don't know who Lulipop is and I haven't been paying attention to what Kitsune has been doing - I can only assume they aren't all rage/screaming/pain/tears/revenge and that makes them evil or something. Clarify what this means if you would be so kind. -
Quote:If you are talking about the boss fights, how can you even see what they are doing half the time to be able to dodge? I like what you are saying about swapping when down to half life as your heal is on cooldown - that makes sense.I only watched the first 5 minutes or so (18 minutes?! I got too much ADD for that! LOL) but you didn't do anything that stood out really glaringly to me. I find my guardian the LEAST mobile of my critters. BUT, I would keep an eye on the following - when you drop to half health, if your mobs aren't almost dead, heal and swap to your tanking weapons (1H+shield/focus) so you stop taking mad damage for a while. It'll be slower to kill guys with your 1H, but if you've already whittled them down some with the greatsword it shouldn't be awful. And if you see someone winding up an attack, or they drop an area effect on you - yes, for god's sake, dodge :P If you don't like to double-tap (that's the ONLY way I dodge, but I use a Zfang gamepad) then use V. Re-bind it if V isn't convenient. But you are totally IMMUNE to damage for the couple seconds it takes you to roll. Why wouldn't you use it instead of slowly backing out of poison clouds and taking big windup hits? :P
