  1. a Tailor *and* a Salvage store *and* Arena terminals —*pretty darn handy excluding the fact that it also allows you to access one zone Blueside not covered by the Ouroboros portal...

    Gale = Fail

I humbly submit that a cone AoE knockdown power at level 1 would be extremely overpowered; for the single-target Force Bolt, OTOH, maybe.

Would it be possible to slot Gale with the Ragnarok: Chance for Knockdown proc? Would the KB override the KD? Not sure at all, just throwin' it out there.

    Gale = Fail

Your mileage obviously varies, but I've found force bolt useful on my Bots/FF MM from level one onwards as a mitigation/soft control tool, and would presumably find Gale similar had I rolled a /Storm toon.

I appreciate that both powers are situational* (knockback being both potentially blessing and curse at once, as ever) and there are better powers in the set, but that's true of pretty much every set, no?

(*I could see Gale being useful for, say, the tunnels / ambushes on the Barracuda SF.)
  4. Ah, I didn't know about the MA bug, good catch Carnifax!

I *think* the pets-running-off bug has been fixed, however; I recall trying it with a teammate's fire imps while waiting for an ITF to kick off and they seemed happy enough to wait around on it (after lighting it, of course).
  5. I'm afraid the ignition/non-ignition is a known issue with OSA, and one that seems to crop up more often (alas, not exclusively) on outdoor or large maps, but there's no easy way to predict whether or not it'll work. No idea of whether a fix is in the pipeline.

Are you certain your teammate had the Oil Slick pseudo-pet targeted?
  6. Heh, you're now at Posts: 1337. H4X!
  7. Well, you know how lowbie Kheldians can be pretty tough to slot and play? Same applies to the Villain epics, I'm afraid. You WILL see a change at 24 — however, don't expect an immediate "I WIN" button —*VEATs are simply one of the archetypes that takes a while to get to truly awesome power, but rest assured, when you hit the 30+ levels, you'll look back at your post and giggle.

I still recommend teaming with other VEATs wherever possible, if you can find some. I'm half-tempted to start a soldier superteam just to prove that epic power from level 10 onwards is no mere pipe dream: 8 soldiers running TT: Maneuvers is 80% defense to positionals AT LEVEL 10. If it weren't for the crazy amount of yellows you'd need to hit stuff, you could (and I have) quite easily run on max difficulty ftom that point onwards. Who needs MA farming?

Wonder how long before you can buy costume slots, in-game unlockables, maybe even new AT's or powersets, in the store too...

Wonder if this is pure conjecture?

    Dr Kahn TF

Did you zap him with the temp powers?

I'd like to see the ITF team I ran with last night vs Reichsmann; with one stalker as our entire melee complement (2 x corrs, 1 domi, 1 troller, 2 x soldier MMs, stalker & blaster) we floored Rommie faster than I've ever seen before - he was down in about 20 seconds per 'life'. Be interesting to see if we could take Bisonmann down as quick
  10. I believe he's adapted his tactics to posting lots of one-liners on certain fora to see whether it'll provoke people

    (No offense intended)
  11. The comments to the article indicate that he was TPing people who weren't fighting him at all —*they were engaging in standard PvP against other players, only to find themselves TP-droned by this guy (to no benefit to him whatsoever), which is griefing in my book.
  12. We're talking at cross-purposes to some extent, here. I'm saying he knew damn well what he was doing, and did it to elicit the reaction he got, to get to the conclusion for his paper that he wanted (which is why I called it 'bad science'.) The comments on the article, especially the ones from US-based PvPers, make that pretty clear —*he's misrepresented his behaviour in the feature.
  13. Speaking of which, might not be a bad idea to do something in Faultline, as that sewer system (and related mission entrance) can be a right swine to navigate.
  14. It's not a legit PvP tactic, it's straight-up griefing.
  15. OK *faceplants* *hossie* I *faceplants* *hossie* wi-- *faceplants* *hossie* --ll! *faceplants* *hossie* *Baseport*

    ...Git :P
  16. Server-wide Hollows sub-level-10 hide and seek it is!
  17. I should think Dark Astoria's no picnic, either
  18. Given that the question posed by his paper is essentially "Is Water Wet?", he could have gotten the proof he set out to find (brilliant science, by the by) pretty much anywhere on the internet either gaming or on fora.

I'm just preparing my own PhD thesis: "Playerkilling in Counterstrike: Does It Annoy People?", which will sit nicely alongside my MA paper "Ursine Arboreal Defecation Habits: A Study."
  19. Guy was deliberately griefing in PvP zones, teleporting people out of their fights into his Bots etc (and posting about it on the fora), and he's surprised that he got flamed? If I was Loyola University I'd probably want to start reviewing my research grant process.

Also: the plural of "anecdote" is not "data".
  20. Eh, I should've been more specific: individual powers, not entire powersets! (Makes life that bit more interesting - do you take the potential crash of Unstoppable or good old Invincibility from /Inv?)
  21. ...Because I'm bored at work today. What 3 powers do you wish you had IRL (I picked 3 as otherwise people will obviously say "All of them, duh!").

    For meself:
    • *(Mind Control & others) Confuse - would be enormously useful at work. "Where's the TPS report?" *confuse* "Uh, look at the pretty bunnies..."

•*(Super Strength) Foot Stomp - largely for use while commuting to clear people out of my personal space. With extreme prejudice.

•*(Stalker sets) Assassin's [whatever] - probably best if I don't elaborate on this one.
  22. If you can find a couple around your level to team up with, you'll blast through to 24. Hell, you'll probably be like "Damn, I gotta respec when I could be getting to 50 in 2 hours' time"...
  23. As it stands, there's not a wild amount of incentive to run the 5th Column task & strikeforces —*the merit reward is not brilliant compared to the time and effort it takes to get these done.

I would therefore suggest that completion of either the TF or SF spawns an invasion in the relevant blue/redside, per completion of the Lady Grey TF, perhaps with a badge/badges attached (100 soldiers defeated would be the obvious starting point).

This is suggested simply as an extra incentive for people to run these.

I fear they'll drop away in popularity once the novelty wears off, as the ITF and LGTF — both of which are co-op, so have a wider catchment area for players, and both of which offer (at present) a better merit reward for time invested —*will continue to be the dominant high-level time-intensive content.
