By having it stickied it tacitly implies more support for that idea over others. That's not a position or a perception we want to convey.

Quills - This, combined with Death Shroud for Dark Armor, make you a King of AoE, a power you can not skip, but can potentially push off for a couple levels. This opens at 18, Id say make sure you have it by 24 though at the latest.
------------SO Slotting: 2 Acc, 2 Dam, 2 End Reducers.
------------IO Slotting: Sciroccos Dervish (Acc/Dam, Dam/End, Lethal Proc, Acc/Dam/Rech) & Cleaving Blow (Acc/Rech, Dam/Rech). Slotted just like Spine Burst (and same way Death Shroud and Ripper will be as well). Will net 10% Regen, 3.13% To-Hit, and 1% Recovery.
[/ QUOTE ]
um...whats with all the recharge reduc in quills? its a complete waste, better to go with other enhances really...
[/ QUOTE ]
Not so much a waste actually. You'll notice that using SO's he has no rech reducs slotted. The rech reducs are part of set IOs which he is using for the passive bonuses they yield. Not a bad way to go at all. though it's possible that you could get the bonuses using different parts of the sets. But I assumed he was looking more at the acc and dam portions of the IOs -

I have a question about Agro, if you tagret a tank and attack his target does he automatially get the agro or are there other factors that play into it?
[/ QUOTE ]
If I'm understanding the question right, no. Just because you target through the tank the tank does not necessarily have that aggro...though it's fairly likely he has it. The tank needs to grab the aggro either by attacking, gauntlet, taunt, or aggro aura.
So basically if you attack a mob by targeting through a tank and the tank hasn't grabbed the aggro first, expect the mob come for you.
And excellent post Aett_Thorn! Easily one of the best posts in the tanker forum. Oh and lastly Happy Birthday? -

Funniest guide I've read in a long time. Thanks. And I will be forwarding the linky to the guy that usually pays our base rent.

What I say?
Replace Instant Healing with something along the lines of...
Instant Recover
which would act as an endurance heal
then...
put IH at 38.
It would make Regen more even with the other secondaries as well.
[/ QUOTE ]
I guess you could do something like that. But how many regens actually have problems with endurance? Personally I have to go full out for quite some time before I have to stop for a few seconds or pop a blue. -
Do you mean the "looking around nervously" animation? I don't know that there is an emote for it. But it's the animation for Danger Sense from the the Stalker secondary /Ninjitsu.

[ QUOTE ]
It is, actually. The Kheldian ranged attacks are 50'. Pretty sure Proton Scatter is even shorter, and I've never had Luminous Detonation. Though in Nova form.. I believe them to be 100'. They certainly seem rather long range.
[/ QUOTE ]
Here I most definitely agree. Human khelds have painfully short ranged attacks. But then again Nova range is just nuts... in a good way. -

What's wrong with impale again?
[/ QUOTE ]
1 group: It's fine.
another group: It's far too uber powerful.
another group: It's not good enough, because of the ungodly long animation.
*shrug*
It seems okay to me. But that's just my opinion.

Unbelievably, Impale is 80' range.
Disclaimer: No, that does not imply an impending range reduction for impale or increase for Focus.
[/ QUOTE ]
I've just been schooled by Castle.
I stand corrected.

It's okay AC... you still have Nin/Nin -

Wow... didn't see that coming. Thanks for the confirmation Castle. Now run... run while you can!! I'll try to hold them off. -
Oh c'mon wolf. It's not all that bad. He actually has some pretty good information in the guide. Granted it's not 100% and some of it is strictly opinion. All in all it still pretty decent. Especially for someone just picking up a stalker for the first time. Maybe a better title would have been "A Beginners Guide to Stalking"
However, I would like to point out that Super Reflexes is primarily a defensive set rather than a resistance set. And truthfully for PvP from what I understand regen is one of if not the strongest set (defense is fairly easily overcome in PvP)
Lots of room for improvement in the guide. Still it's not bad, and quite well structured in my opinion. Overall, I say well done Mageman...though I would suggest you research a tad more and update if you can. I just noticed that the OP was back in March... that may have something to do with it. -
Very nice mantid!!!
I actually didn't know a few of those. -
Nice guide. I'm going to have to try out that increase attack speed buff. The only one I've really appreciated is the knockback protection, it's not perfect...but man it's most appreciated. Like glycerine my Stalker is /nin. Now if only we could add to the duration by empowering more than once. *dreams*

Personally, while I completely disagree with most of the "useless powers" being useless. This actually has the potential to be a pretty decent guide. At the moment though, I'd say it's not really so much a guide as it is just a list of some powers that generally require some skill/discretion. (Not all of them mind you...I'm looking at YOU Temperature Protection)
Unfortunately the title here is somewhat lacking as well. However, if more or less the same types of powers were grouped together in a thread where the new players were actually tutored a bit in their uses. Now that could be a useful guide.
I can't imagine telling a new controller don't take Dim. Shift because you're new and can't use it properly. Or telling a blaster not to take Lightning Clap (which really is a pretty decent control).
Good luck on the next incarnation of this guide. I look forward to it. -
Interesting how this thread has sucked me in. Probably since I started my natural concept toon (an archery/dev blaster)...thankfully I have a remarkable SG that puts up with my lack of travel power.
I was curious though. If the devs ever put in say store bought jetpacks with a usage limitation rather than a timed limitation. Would that crossover too much into tech origin to utilize. Note: that repurchasing the jetpack would translate to refueling.
Incidently, I'm just curious what your take would be. I'm actually happy with my 3 slotted sprint, swift, hurdle combo for the moment. -
Dang it Ossuary ya beat me to it. And ya probably did it more eloquently than I could've...Bravo. *golf clap*
Yup.. definitely more eloquently. -
Very nice guide. Don't have a D3 currently but I believe you have sold me.
Note on Teleport: can be used while Immobilized. -
This is awesome States! Thanks Thanks and Thanks.

Thanks for the info CFI. I'll prolly give it a shot this evening. I've already come across some situations in which the menus get in the way a bit too much. (Mind you this is with my Illus/emp...I can only imagine the eventual chaos of an mm)

You can change window scale?? Holy Crap! *Smacks plam against face*
That said I disagree with everything that CFI just said... simply because I always know less than he does.
(note: the above comment is in no way supposed to be sensible)

Oy... It's the word limit that constantly keeps me from submitting anything. Every time I think "I'll just make this a short peice." It takes on a life of it's own...

LOL! And that also happens...good luck. -

OK, my bad for not posting the guidelines - somehow slipped my mind.

Heh... It happens. Thanks for the info.
