I guess it just all depends on your perspective. Playing it, I still find White Dwarf useful for the heal and footstomp and taunt. Instead of making Dwarf form useless it's more like we have more incentive than ever to keep shifting form constantly since you don't have to worry about getting mezzed to death if you drop to human form when LF is down or always being made of glass in Nova.
Quote:Wouldn't that leave us where we are now with an Inherent that wastes a lot of +Resistance in Human and Dwarf once you get and slot Light Form? Why not kill two birds with one stone? Would they really just flat out give us more Resistance to Toxic and Psi without reducing the overall numbers? What I'd like to know is if the Inherent could be coded to give us +Psionic protection or something else we lack instead to Human and Dwarf form when we have LF active? Nova should be left alone though or given a boost against Toxic or something like that. Now don't misunderstand me. I'm talking about adding Psionic and Toxic to the list of damage types that White Dwarf resists, NOT cosmic balance. Flag Dwarf as giving resistance to all damage types with no exception and leave the resistance numbers as they are -
Quote:Really? Cool. For a while I was spamming the heck out of the Kheldian forums, like an annoying spamming spambot from Spamland, saying that usually whenever I team with a Warshade my PB seems to be more survivable and doesn't feel outclassed when it comes to damage either to the point where I stopped because it was seriously cutting into my game time and the majority seemed adamant that it couldn't be true. Now, evidently, there are numbers that prove that PBs are more survivable against single targets when there are no bodies or minions around and they do more damage if you exclude a Warshade's pets from the equation. Who would have thunk it?Although I was never in the camp that Peacebringers were a joke, you can't deny that they were lagging seriously behind. And in order to have a baseline by which to make suggestions some sort of comparison was necessary. So who would you have had us compare them to? Warshades are our nearest cousins, and frankly the only other archetype that faces similar difficulties and advantages. And TBH I don't really remember you having a whole lot to do with that whole dialogue, so I'm going to assume you were speaking in general terms with the whole "Double sux to you" statement. (although it is kinda cute)
Mostly I was just joking about how nobody ever seems satisfied with Kheldians while I'm a little in awe of how much the Devs have improved them since I started playing one about 4 years ago.
Quote:Nope. Light form isn't too powerful. You'll never hear me say that. My problem with it is that it doesn't do enough for Dwarf form. Or anything at all, really.
Quote:Which brings us to:
If it goes to live with no other changes, I'll have to live with it. But until then I'm going to push for psionic resistance added to the form. It doesn't need more attacks, and it doesn't need more damage. Psionic resistance alone would give me reason enough to take it. The autohit taunt was little more than a QOL thing as far as I'm concerned. One Accuracy in the slot provided with the power is more than enough in most instances.
I thought the issue was not being able to hold aggro when Blasters and other ATs can do so much damage, not that Antagonize was missing. I haven't gotten to test this much but it sounds like it should make White Dwarfs more Off Tankery at higher levels which was a real problem for me. And freeing up an extra slot for Kheldians is a big deal just by itself.
Quote:You know what? You might not believe this but I was *this* close to suggesting that glowing touch would make a fine aoe heal a couple of posts up when I first talked about it, and got interrupted.
Yes. Glowing touch would make a wonderful candidate for an aoe heal in place of Restore Essence. But I suspect the recharge would have to be lengthened, and it obviously should NOT include the caster in that aoe. (and I'm not sure how doable that is, either) -
Oy! I was fine with Peacbringers the way they were except for maybe White Dwarf not doing enough damage but everybody said, "No, they sux compared to Warshades! Double sux to you!"
Now I gets on board with the changes and it's all "You triple sux! Light form is too powerful if you are level 50 and have massive amounts of IO bonuses!" or "Peacebringers still sux just like Warshades!"
Welcome to the Internet, right?
So instead of giving White Dwarf alone higher damage numbers and/or faster recharge and/or another attack or a damage effect in Antagonize, they decide to go with making the taunt autohit. I can live with that especially considering how great Inner Light is.
Why make Reform (or was it supposed to be Restore?) Essence a group heal when poor neglected Glowing Touch is the perfect canidate for that? I absolutely love the idea of making Group Flight into a gravity damaging aura since right now nobody wants to touch it with a 10 foot pole. Yep, Glowing Touch, Group Flight, and maybe Quantum Flight are the powers I find most useless but if the Devs fixed them I'd have no room in my build for pool powers at all. -
What kills me is people over in the Kheldian forum are actually saying that with these new changes LF is too powerful now and that the Resistance given should be lowered because they can cap Resistance with IOs and just LF alone. But the Devs have always said that the game isn't balanced around IOs and Invention set bonuses and for SOs the level is just perfect so you can get 85 % Resistance in Human and Dwarf without having to slot your shields for Resistance (allowing for much needed savings on End) and with only putting a couple of Resistance enhancements in LF. If they rebalance it for IO sets then that will make it a lot harder to go the SO route. I'm also loving the Resistance numbers for Nova right where they are.
If the PB inherent has to be changed so that all the extra Resistance isn't wasted why not change it to provide at least some protection from Psionic damage instead? Some -Endurance protection in Dwarf Form would be good too because of how frustrating it can be to get knocked out of your tank form by getting sapped. Is it possible to have the Inherent grant something different to each of the forms? Like could Nova form maybe get a boost to Toxic Resistance while Human form would possibly be stronger against Psionic damage while teaming?
Quote:I don't know about how it looks on paper but having LF apply to all the forms makes playing a PB just totally awesome. The change is really like night and day.seems like, dunno if it actually does. the numbers joe has posted show that it really doesn't bring us alot closer, alittle sure but not on par. and even if it did bring them on par with warshades, both khelds are lightyears behind VEATs. it's night and day playing the two ATs, and very obvious that one was made latter, and made with sense and logic. -

Quote:With the recent changes level 38+ PBs now have tanker levels of Resistance in all the forms most of the time, or all of the time if you have perma LF, with only a neglible crash and we do more damage too. Overall it seems like a great improvement which brings us a lot closer to what Warshades and VEATs can do.Now I understand. I always thought Peacebringers were melee combatants. I've had it all wrong, they are a blending of Blaster and Tank.
Tank = highest survivability, lower damage
Blaster = highest damage, lower survivability
Peacebringer = tank damage, blaster survivability
Now that I understand, PB's are in danger of becoming extremely over powered. They should not change KB to KD - they should change it to phase enemies on par with the cage powers. That is the only hope we have to keep them in check.
I'm having tons of fun in Nova form for the first time in quite a while due to being a nearly indestructible blasting machine (it's not really and there is still the Psi hole but it just feels that way!). -
Speaking of QoL, does anybody know if the new Burnout power is worth taking for Kheldians? I'd think it would be a major benefit to us.
All the complaining about the comparison to SS AoEs seems to be clouding over the fact that the Devs have given us a way to reduce the knockback from Solar Flare since it can be fired above the heads of mobs now just as with the Nova knockback attacks so it's more like knockdown. It's not perfect but it's more than a bone they've thrown us this time. -

Quote:KheldiansAn autohit taunt would be a start, and a higher hp cap would be nice, but the only debuff resistance that would help a dwarf is damres debuff resistance, and a dwarf's built in resistance already provides that. I'm not terribly interested in regeneration debuff resistance, tbh.
Slow resistance might be tempting, but on an already slow form I wonder how much good it would do.
White Dwarf Antagonize and Black Dwarf Antagonize now automatically hit when used against NPCs.
Ask and you shall receive, apparently. Can I have some cake? -
As others have said what makes Nova and Dwarf weak on PBs at higher levels is lack of damage compared to what other ATs can do. I'd love it if we could click on Inner Light in all the forms if that's possible. What would be wrong with simply taking the chance for psi damage proc out of the taunt and making it a secondary effect of WD Antagonize which would fire every time and that could also be slotted to increase its damage? Or how about having Antagonize also give us a Build Up or at least a chance of one?
-
Yeah, I'm still amazed that the idea to fix Peacebringers involved mostly "improving" Human Form powers when Dwarf Form was already almost useless at higher levels with Nova only being slightly better, but this misconception of what's wrong with the PBs has been dominating the threads on the Kheldian sub forum too so it's not just the Devs who are so wrong-minded. It's like nobody actually plays the AT and everybody just wants them to be like Warshades.
-
Okay, great. They've managed to take away all the things I actually like about PBs and we still aren't as good as VEATs not to mention that people continue not to want us on teams because of our wonderful nemesis Quantum/Void/Cysts showing up at the worst possible times. Mission accomplished.
PBs so overpowered that we can't have the option of doing knockdown instead of knockback? Now I've heard everything. -
It looks like to me that you have way too many slots in your shields and not enough in your human form attacks. RS, SF, and LD should have at least 4 slots each to make them worth taking.
-
Quote:This is the kind of thing I don't understand. Human is actually the most survivable form to use at least at high level once you get LF. Dwarf Form is the one that becomes useless at high level cause of the relative lack of damage. You can teleport out and drop to human form for Build Up and Hasten and then tp back in but that greatly reduces your DPS compared to what Black Dwarfs can do. Rigging up a macro or bind to drop to human and hit SF or Build Up before switching back to tanking works also but it is riskier.Yep, I can only get White Dwarf to work. I don't use Nova at all and if I use human-form it's straight to the hospital and xp Debt.
My solution would be to grant extra slots at 20, 32, 40, and 50, but cap how many each form can have. This is very balanced since players can only be one form at a time and it supports the concept of a shapeshifting AT.
Or maybe give the Nova and Dwarf 3 inherent slots in each power instead of just one.
Anyway, my PB only works in Dwarf form in the CoH game enviornments. I play many many alts of all types successfully, but the Khelds are badly in need of a fix.
I remember when Regeneration was found to be overpowered they changed it every 6 months till they reached a balanced set. I would like to see that kind of envisioning applied to Khelds because they have been ignored for far too long.
Not using Nova as an opening strike and closer to pick off stragglers really just gimps your damage output for no good reason if you are triform. It's like people are playing another game or have never really taken a PB to 50. -
Quote:Yeah it's never gonna work on bosses unless someone else on your team has a power to stack with it but it takes minions and even LTs out of the fight like crazy once you have it properly slotted with accuracy, recharge, and disorient duration and it can easily be made perma with Hasten. It's really nice to have while your AOE attacks are recharging so you can just jump to the next mob without having to worry about being swarmed. As a Human Form only you have fewer AOEs so it's even more important.I disagree. Pulsar would be worth it if I had another form of stun to stack it with, but this is not a Warshade build with three stackable aoe stuns.
You don't need Maneuevers for Vengeance either if you have Assault and Tactics. -
I find Pulsar to be essential to any Human Form PB build. It's one of those powers that gets a bad rap but it actually very useful to mitigate damage. You should definitely take it in place of maybe something like Maneuvers which is another end draining toggle in a build with a lot of those already or even Vengeance since it's only useful comparitively rarely and then devote at least 4 slots to it. It's also a good substitute for Solar Flare if you really really hate knockback.
-
I just think it's unlikely that they are gonna make LF a clone of Eclipse or find some way to make it recharge faster or not crash or apply to all the forms that doesn't gimp it. Would love to be proven wrong. I'd really settle for just being able to click on Build Up and maybe Hasten while in tank form myself.
-
The only real problem with PBs is merely that Dwarf Form doesn't do quite enough damage at higher levels but I wouldn't want to change that if it means White Dwarfs would have less resistance or slower recharge times or a less effective heal.
Nova isn't as bad because it's safer to drop into HF for Build Up when at range usually.
It's hard to see how changing Light Form by giving a recharge boost to Photon Seekers or some other kind of damage boost when in LF is needed as you are already pretty awesome in LF anyway. The problem also lies in the trade-offs that would have to be made in order to make LF recharge faster. I guess it some kind of ability to switch out of Light Form into Dwarf and Nova with a temporary damage boost could be useful if that's even possible considering the nature of forms and the question of what they'd do about the crash then.
The recharge ratio on LF is not that bad either since you can get it to being up for 3 minutes while down for around 6 with Hasten even without spending tons of money on an IO build to reduce the recharge time even further. -
Quote:Nope, can't agree with that. Changing LF to be like Eclipse would make it nearly useless in a lot of boss or AV fights which is a huge part of this game. There's no point in having two Kheldians AT's if they are gonna be exactly alike. Conversely, if you made LF a Strength of Will clone it would flat out just not provide as much resistance as Eclipse or LF currently. There has to be a better way.I think the reason Light Form is complained about is not just because of the crash, but also because of the long recharge it's on and the inability to switch forms while it's running. You realize it is the PB's answer to Eclipse, which can not only cap the Warshade's resistance to all damage with a small amount of enemies but also be made perma with no crash in sight. Eclipse also carries over in forms... Light form just pales in comparison.
-
And I thought I was jaded. Kheldians have been improved upon more than any other AT that I can think of. I'm still so tickled that I can run enemies down now while in Dwarf form.
What would really piss me off is if the devs remade PBs to be clones of Warshades in an attempt to "fix" them. The last thing we need is for them to take away our three minutes of awesome god mode because some people are still whining about the easiest to cope with crash in the game. Just click on EB or even RE and switch to DF and you are right back in the fight.
The ability to use some shields in Nova or HF blasts in Dwarf would be very cool. Give PBs a touch more damage if you want, maybe give Warshades a CC proc or something but for Smurf's sake leave Light Form alone. -
If you are planning on staying in human form a lot then you really won't need 5 slots in White Dwarf and you should probably put at least a couple more slots in Solar Flare as it's a very useful attack.
-
That's okay. You don't make sense to me either. Just consider us polar opposites.

Quote:Testify!Well then I don't see what "losing" low-res Atlas Park to a high-res makeover has to do with Galaxy City being deleted and relegated to being a "museum" as you put it.
It's my opinion, which I've alluded to earlier, that Atlas and Galaxy TOGETHER are the heart and soul of the game. They reflect opposing principles while simultaneously embracing the seed of the other. The real loss here is that the "heart and soul" is being diminished to something monolithic.
That's philosophy, though, and I don't expect everyone to agree with me even if I AM right.
On the good side the devs may have finally cured me of my altitis since I don't think I could stand creating any new characters anymore. The whole business of what used to be explained in the tutorial being stretched out until level 20 or whatever sounds really annoying even if optional like those help pop up things. Does anybody really like those? -
Doesn't it seem kind of like they are copying the powerset and other ideas of a certain rival superhero MMO? Or did that rival MMO copy ideas that have been long planned for this one since COH came first?
